  • While sexual issues are quite common among the general population, survivors of sex-related trauma like child sexual abuse can have an especially difficult relationship with their sexuality and sexual well-being. Fortunately, there are ways to help reduce the shame, confusion, and fears survivors may experience when it comes to sexual intimacy.
Child sexual abuse can impact the sexual health of survivors in many ways, but many survivors do have common experiences. Some of those experiences may be:
    • Feelings of shame, guilt, and betrayal.
    • Feeling triggered by activities or environments that remind them of the circumstances surrounding the abuse.
    • Emotional numbness or dissociation.
    • Feeling triggered by your sexual partner.
    • Feeling that sex is a requirement to be loved.
At Saprea, we liberate individuals and society from child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts. We have services that help child sexual abuse survivors find healing from the traumatic effects that have often followed them into adulthood, as well as resources for parents and caregivers to learn how to lower the risk of child sexual abuse in their own homes and communities.
