It’s really sad especially because Viola might seem “gullible” and “naive” to some people, but it’s pretty much exactly what happens when you get into that situation. If you know what it feels like, you’ll understand.
Yeah the feeling is overwhelming
She's a teenager, with a very undeveloped brain to really be able to rationalize why she is behaving the way she is.
fr i used to be thAT friend that talks back no mater what till i moved schools and i cant stand up for myself. i can never win.
True you dont even know that you're changing
@@Spedup1236😢
LOLL THE DANCING WHEN SHES SAYS VIOLA MIND SAYS 😭😭 anyways, this film is way more accurate, unlike other films were they use stereotypical situations. You could also see how Viola started changing the way she dresed and behaved.
FRR
and the way she her accent changed too 😭
NO WAY SAME PFP??
19:45 This scene personal feels so well-written for me is the dreading fact that they just did something bad, but they show it in a way that is so warm and memorable is best describe the feeling of finally getting the validation you wanted, yet it’s short-live and immediately shuts down the second later. This story is so uniquely told I love it 😭
this is EXACTLY what I felt too! v well made ♡
FR, this video is exactly what I feel when I was being left out and bullied, I was forced not to be myself and I’m so glad I spoke up, the backhanded compliments and insults about who I used to be and actually is…
This is exactly how I felt omggg
The acting was superb. The storytelling, everything. It is such a small vignette of what classism really is. The fake feminism, the corporate feminism, the "let others pay for your actions", all this.
My niece got caught stealing alongside her friends who were all rich and born into privilege because she felt peer pressured to do so.
"She isnt like us." THE WAY THAT SUNK IN. OH MU GOD?! THE ACTING TOO, THE CLASSISM. THE WAY SHE STOPPED CHOPPING THE FRUIT AND THE WAY THAT GIRL KEPT TAKING ANYTHING THE OTHER GIRL GAVE HER BUT ITS NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED?? THE ACTING IS ACTUALLY INSANE!! I LOVE THIS AND I GOT ATTACHED TO VIOLA AND WHO SHE IS AND WHAT SHE DOES IN 22 MINUTES.
THE FAKE FEMINISM,WHEN SHE IGNORED HER FRIEND IT PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH I FORGOT IT WAS ACTING!!
God loves you
I usually don't like films like this because of the unrealistic depiction of common teasing/passive bullying, but honestly, as a 'new kid' who commonly finds herself in situations like Viola found herself here, I relate so much more than I ever thought I would. Even the girls' mannerisms while gossiping in the bathroom are so familiar to me and though I appreciate its realness, I still do get mad, which is amazing. I recognize those words and phrases way too well for my own good. Huge kudos for this.
Hey I hope you’re okay, that must be tough, you don’t deserve to feel like sh*t or get sh*t thrown at you, i hope you get the validation and recognition to not be judged as you deserve ❤️
this is so accurate on what its like trying to fit in
Don't. Why would anyone want to fit in with judgmental, petty, mean, emotionally unhealthy people?

this is so much more realistic and relatable than how all those "anti bullying" programs represent it bro
And also watch Pink's "F*ckin' perfect" music video,it also relates to the topic...It doesn't sugarcoat about the fact that we would be victim-blamed if we stand up for ourselves,my heart cries even if my eyes didn't the moment I watched the music video of the song, cuz I relate to the girl also who loves to draw and makes mistakes in her life and then got gaslighted whenever I try to protect myself
this is the best i've ever seen anyone show a group text, film makers always struggle with it a lot
coming from a neighbourhood pri sch and having ended up in an “elite” girls sch..i can say that the ppl represented in the vid are quite accurate. the film really hits close to home, hell we even swimming pool lmao

The way highschool girl gossips about others and pick on the weak is depicted so realistically. Gosh. I hate mean girls
Fr
This simply depicts the reality that environment could really change someone's behavior. It could really shape the way they think and act like one of them. It's important to consider the people whom we are hanging out with and what their intention could be. And for a person that doesn't have to change oneself just to get in or to fit in with the people who surrounds them and as well as you don't have to dump older and kinder friends just because you have new one and at the end of the day, they'll leave you and you got you. Find the right circle, find the right friends.
Bad company creates the worst mindset. But in the midst of wise counsel, there is safety, peace, and good success.
Proverbs
is this Proverbs?!?! :DD
one of the things I like about this besides the really accurate depiction of the bullying and subtle peer pressure is how it doesn't end in Viola and her "friends" all making up and her parents understanding, because most of the time (in real life) they don't
Video is so unique!!! And viola looks like the girl in " the summer i turned pretty"
omg belly!! i see itt
LOLA TUNG WHO9??🗣🗣
I liked the moments of her mind world. I think they were also representing maladaptive daydreaming or escapism, especially that last scene.
Hey my name is Viola, and i think this is such a great video with such a good message . Yup i got bullied when i was a kid but i'm doing very good now, and for all of those who are getting bullied , remember they are not worth your time ,mental space or your tears . Keep your chin up and never back down , you know your worth better than anyone:)

And since I discovered their double personality, I've hated them for years until the graduation
I feel like they just never experienced it tbh
I like how at 21:54 she cant escape from reality so she used some silly words to cope instead, my "friends" were similar to her "friends" and i relate to this ALOT.
The confusion, sadness, guilt, and anxiety
The "what did i do?" And "i just following them" vibes.
The "it's ___ fault!".
And the friends talking bad about other to her ears, i relate to it so bad..

They added dancing because viola is an wannabe TikToker dancer and that stuff so when the video says “Viola mind!” That means in her viola she find everyone love her and dance with her but in reality no one dancing + no loving her only her old friends from the school ONLY talk to her only

Really made me think about friendship and school in general
FR
This reminds me of the time when i was send to a specifically elite russian class (because i had a 1st world country background and the principal thought it fitted me)
Everyone was chronically online because that had more life than their everyday lives. The pictures they took had to look in goofy angles w a 0.6/0.5 camera zoom, everyone wore watered down baggy y2k clothes (if they had enough money for the social status) and the boys always had these blue, tight uniforms and played brawl stars (it was weird if you didn't). The gap between genders was huge. They also glazed the 2000's american style, and anything western which was weird considering the nationalism and xenophobia.
Appearance was what mattered the most, your nails, your hair, your clothes - it's like they assumed they knew you by it because that's all you were to them.
The bullying was like something straight out of a movie. I got greeted by girls walking up to me on my first day at lunch and being impressed by my phone's language being english. They "warned" me about who to avoid, because they had pre-established categories for everyone. When i asked someone if we were friends, she dead ass said that they need to find out were i belonged first,,,,
The thing that was the most unsettling however, is how the whole school bullied this one girl because of her telegram channel. She didn't post anything even slightly shocking, the main spotlight was on her seriously using emojis and posting things like "im listening to ariana grande *peace sign*" which they found peak cringe
And when i tell the whole school, i mean the whole school bullied her. Her channel gained 127 subscribers from 10 in one hour and the hallways were full of people surrounding her, asking for signatures and pictures, sarcastically bullying her by treating her as if shes famous and then posting that picture in their channel.
The rich girls added me to all the channels but there was one that stood out. It was a channel about "school events" which was ran by two almost graduating bsf's (in the "popular" circle).
They posted random pictures of the disabled kids, stupid drawings and inside jokes. It was the main school information source
My (what i thought friend) literally laughed at another girl in front of me because she "looked funny" (she meant dark skin and explicitly clarified it)
The whole school was just stuck in their own bubble, they were so terribly emotionally immature to the point that they couldn't even see anything wrong with anything they did let alone think about it. "Yeah, we joke about everyone, but it's light-hearted"
lol either you exhagerate a bit or they sent you to some bourgeoise hellschool. in my experience, high-schoolers are ridiculous everywhere. i personally prefered the russian bullies more; american ones are so subtle its hell. mind telling in which region did you go to school? because your text sounds so ridiculous in contrast to my own experience
Maturity is when you realize... in the future no ones gonna care how many friends u had at school or how well u fit in at school... in the future, only thing that matters is how well you did at studies and stuff. Even i have a similar situation but i keep reminding myself that I've gotta study well cuz getting validation ain't gonna feed me.
That's a very good mindset me too
Viola is so pretty tho❤ like actually her eyes are beautiful!
This was insanely accurate, I was w mixed emotions during the whole video lol, nice job
HELPPPP THE WAY SHE THREE HER SOCK AS A PADD 😭😭
why does this feel so relatable + realistic at the same time (as a person who has undiagnosed adhd)
what does adhd have to do with this
This is so real. I feel myself when I moved to a new school this started happening to me. It’s almost exactly what happened minus more stuff that they didn't show
5:33 this part hits hard when you have close friends in a school but you moved out :')
But what about Viola's old friends? They seem they didn't even care about her after she moved out
@@alechianese01 huh
the guilt feeling in the end...
The heading literally is so accurate, girl is pretending to have friends or company and copying the vibe just to please herself for not being alone is so - stupid thing ever rr to doo !! Literally lol-
Literally man be a girl with her you would also want to fit in those so called girl groups so as fomo.
Actually, that's how the brain copes. Considering the brain tries not to make you feel too pressured.
“Stupid thing ever to do” …
it's actually really real though, once my sister became like this and dropped her friends of 7 years just to hang out with the "cool kids".
.. are you being serious?
2:49 I never really understood gossip. I hate people when they do that. And it’s not really because I have a really long history about people gossiping about me (I simply never cared) but it just says so much about a person. Like how boring they are to not have something to talk about themselves and have their noses all stuck up on other people’s business and for what? For those 4 mins of laughters
Frrr, it just doesn’t make sense
Why did I watch the whole thing? I was genuinely interested
Helppp the mom speaking thai and her daughter speaking english
that’s literally me and my mum except instead of thai she speaks mandarin
Frr 😭😭
It’s normal
That’s normal in a lot of bilingual households. I grew up in England and my mum is British and my dad is Pakistani. They both speak in Urdu to each other and sometimes English at home and when she says anything to me in that language, I respond in English. We understand it but we can’t speak it. A lot of people actually relate to that, it’s not a big deal and neither is it funny lol.
what's the point of this comment... this is perfectly normal, same for me my parents speak Malayalam a lot to me and I understand but can't speak it myself. They can understand english so they understand me and I understand them. whats so surprising about that lol
this film honestly resonates with me so much. I went to a new school 3 years ago and ive had to change myself to fit in aswell.
This was incredible made. The acting, writing, story, metaphors - all of it was fantastic!

Singapore version of "After School Special." Brilliantly done!
Bullying by peers is not the only problem. The way teachers scream even when students make trivial mistakes that is also a big problem especially if an undiagnosed autistic student studies in the school. I am not talking about their prank on the teacher but irl many teachers just treat students like emotional punchbags and toys to abuse. Shaming, blaming, hypocrisy, heirarchy, humiliation, and lacking empathy, humanity, morality, emotional maturity is a crime; not making mistakes or being imperfect. You cannot treat students like criminals and expect them to not become one. Lead by example. They will never trust you, never pay attention, never learn anything good from you if you make them feel constantly on edge and unsafe, intimidated or in danger and if you don't prove that you're humane.
For every self-deceptive, self-righteous doomed pereon who was once an abusive teacher, parent or an abusive peer/sibling:
Don't make the universe regret by making you a human or even letting you exist. Don't be a Satan like burden on this earth: with this behaviour you are a blot on the word 'human' 'teacher' 'student'. You're nothing but an insecure envious landfill. Without cleaning your mind, intentions, perspective, behaviour, mentality and without correcting yourself, you can't grow. Faking it will not make it. Truth is truth and the only thing you can do is acknowledge it, focus on your own actions and change yourself instead of intending harm or always resenting others. Focus on your actions if you don't wanna destroy yourself because focusing on others makes one fall down. If you choose to be good today, you cannot be defined by your past but yes you will always be held accountable for it but it will lose the power to define you. We cannot grow if we refuse to acknowledge and correct our mistakes.
_Each person can only grow by taking accountability because no one is sinless._
i can relate to this film. You can't just fit in no matter what you do.
Wow this is a great film!! Really enjoyed it, the acting from the girls was excellent, and also the interdek mindset was too real… I feel like I’m reliving school lol (and not in a good way lol)

Hmm, not all private schools are like this. You just have to meet genuine people, and make genuine connections. Idk why but i feel like this video also shows how different the world of two people can be just because of their financial status and still have problem with it. As viola belongs from a poor family she is deprived from so many things like she loves swimming but can not afford to go to swimming class. She doesn't have the advanced gadgets like other students in the school, sge doesn't have money to afford high end brand clothing. In her eyes her life is total misery. On the other hand, Eve's family owns a big business, she have so many helpers, she goes to expensive vacation and jer family will soon tell her to overtake their business. But to her actual fun is having the absolute freedom of not having any kind of responsibility or multiple classes she does everyday. Intresting, isn't it?

i think this a pretty superficial portrayal of what elite schools look like in singapore?? like what's with the american accents/ over the top feminist portrayals/ pilates references?? the tampon scene doesn't make sense? the stealing clothes? and the whole NSK thing-- like since when has that been a term anywhere.?
if you wanted to tackle issues of elitism there were a lot of nuances that were missed and this was a pretty damn unrealistic take. it was a bit too inspired by american high school dramas? and i also get that the "viola's world" "viola texting" with the gamey synthy sounds was an artistic choice but i don't feel like it served any substantial purpose for the film as a whole
great cinematography though that was probably the one thing i enjoyed

-19:51 this scene is very relatable to me in seventh grade since eighth grade girls are making fun of me, and I feel like I’m in this girl’s shoes right now.. It’s hatred to me because girls like these will make fun of you for no reason. And they even judge you. Not to mention, they don’t even know you and they just want to make fun of you. Matter of fact, they don’t even know what you’re going through they just want to pick on you because you’re an easy target, for one thing and you’re kind. This world is critical and it’s relatable when things like this happens in middle school.
Hope you learn how to deal with them ❤ 🫂
@AlmahSheikh I literally can’t. It’s literally to the point where they have multiple friends and just “gossip” every single time I enter a classroom or bathroom that they’re in. What’s worse about this situation is how I’ve literally got mistreated for this situation because of me not having perfect braces, since I don’t have my wires or my brackets on and this one eighth grade girl judged me out on that! Once that happened, I told my teacher, and then after that, I believe she told her friends based off of what I said and now her friends are MY opps too. (Mind telling you, I’ve done nothing to this girl and she literally criticized me for my braces FOR NO REASON when SHE has braces too!) This is the reason why I relate to this video.
@@Unknown21351 I think you should learn how to deal with them, I suggest you to search on UA-cam about it and show them who you really are ✨
