Gonna try that, took mine off replaced with a very clean like new looking one from my favorite boneyard, been fine for few yrs. Times were tuff back then, guess I'll price a new one. Old Vulcans are good engines, no timing chain and roller lifters. Has 200000 on the clock knock on wood, a good work car. Everything works. Oh and when you disconnect the battery turn the lights on, drains capacitors.

Hey Scotty, thanks for the wealth of information I have gained from your videos.
I do have an issue with a car and was hoping that I could pick your brain.
    I have a 2002 Buick Regal Supercharged GS - 3800 engine.
I suspect it may have a bad IAC valve but I have no OBD tool. My buddy used his and it showed no codes but my SES light is on. It was not on before. It did show that it is running a bit rich. I think it had a reading of zero point 7 - '0.7''
Also the car sat for a couple of months before I replaced the water pump (which blew and the car overheated slighlty. Do not think any damage was done to the engine at the time),. Also replaced the main serp belt (as opposed to the supercharger belt), and a couple of vacuum lines (Purge contol valve line and the sup charger harness assembly)
    - The car idles rough but has good power. Maybe too good. It appears to be running too rich. Also when I start the car (especially when cold) the accelerator is sticky and I need to really press it down to start it. The pedal seems fine after that.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Tim

Hello Scotty thanks for the videos. I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima and it started sputtering about 4 weeks ago. We changed several coils and it was working just fine. Then about 2 weeks ago it started sputtering again. We looks closer and found a missing intake piece and replaced the main intake device the air filter connects to. Still sputtering so we replaced all the spark plugs. Sputters a just a little, but now we have a fume coming into the car giving a headache. We got a carbon reader nothing came up and we have no codes on Blue Reader device. How do we find the fume leak coming into the car?

I just fixed my 99 land rover discovery 2 4.0 v8 today, I got a new maf sensor and 02 sensor and fitted them but I had to get the system reset so it recognized the new 02 sensor but when I got it reset the was a problem there still, on futher investigation the IAC was disconnected so I reconnected it and she was all good. I'm just amazed that the system didnt put a check engine light on. It was still drivable but lacking in power big time. Cheers Scotty keep up the awesome work! 😁👍

Thanks for the video! My 88 olds cutlass ciera has been having a weird idle and I pulled a code 35 so going to try this fix. Cheap bastard tip: I didn't use a scan tool just a paperclip to short the 2 diagnostic pins together and you can pull codes from GM odb1 that way.

My first car, which I loved, was a 1995 Cutlass Supreme. I hardly ever replaced anything beyond brakes on it, it was absolutely fantastic, but... I did replace the idle air control valve TWICE in 8 years. GM just did not do a good job with that specific part. Funny enough, in a fit of nostalgia I just bought an almost perfect ‘97 that somehow has escaped the ravages of time... but I’m nervous about that damn idle air control valve haha.

Hey great video I really enjoy all of your work but I had a question about my van. She's a 1995 dodge grand caravan and every time I start the van the idle goes up normally but than drops as it's loosing power. The problem is even worst when I place the car on park. The rpm drops very low almost as if the car is about to turn off and in one occasion she has turn off on me when I place her on park. Everything begins to start turning off including the lights. Another problem I have with this van is the everytime I turn there's a pop noise in the back, and just recently, something seems to be causing a very weird noise when I break. Kind of like the sound of water dripping or like the sound you get when you drop something in water (its coming from the back of the drum breaks. I've check and there is no leeks as you mention in your breack videos. The last thing is that my car won't go forward like a normal car would on ramps and ends up backing up on cars behind me. any thoughts on what is going on?
Again your videos are amazing and always very informative and fun to watch

How can you extend the new iac so the pintle and spring will fit in the housing like the older one does? I had to replace mine and don’t know how to extend it? I read if you try to extend it out you can damage the part. Like Scotty said in the video the computer extends the iac out. Do I just put it in the car without extending it even tho it won’t connect into the housing? Just want it to work properly?

Hello Scotty! My car (an european 2006 Ford Focus mk2) powered by an 1.6 16V ti-vct petrol engine and 5 speed manual gearbox has some light vibrations when starting the engine in the morning or after a few hours of stand-by. The simptoms occured after I've changed the oil, filters and spark plugs. All the items are with the right specification. Also the fuel consumption is higher (2 litres more/100km) and the spark plugs are smoked (the one from the 1st cylinder more than the others). I"ve cleaned the throttle body and the maf sensor but no improvements. The symptoms happen only on first start of the engine when idling. After the engine is hot, everything is ok (no gas cut or something la that) , except the consumption. What should I check? Could the pcv valve be the problem? Many thanks!

Hey sir. I have a similar setup. And my truck is over heating to the point in the cab where my feet go (in the middle) it gets hot. Also my exaust manifolds get realy really hot. I rebuilt my throttle body injector system. New idle air control valve, took apart the tbi apart cleaned with carb cleaner and replace all the gaskets. Fire stone said I needed a new tbi system and to close the gap between my exaust manifold and the muffler pipe because there's a gap and lots of air and noise is being made. Would having that gap where the 3 bolts and spring are cause over heating?

Hey Scotty. I’m hoping u can lead me in the right direction. I have a 350 tbi blazer with an up n down idle problem when it warms up or put it in gear. Not only that, it struggles to get the rpm up when driving or just trying to rev it up. All this started when my dizzy went out on me while driving. Replaced it 2x, replaced iacv, map, tps, plugs n wires and still nothing. Any ideas?

Nice info. Thank you. I'm still getting idle issues with my old 94 tbi suburban 7.4liter.
Last year replace temp sensor in front of engine. Seemed to work. Then later on Thermostat failed. Replaced thermostat with same one and idle is very bad. Temp never reached 210 how it used to. And engine does when put in gear now. After I feather accelerate to get it going will run somewhat ok but still feel it acting like IAC valve opening and closing making engine stumbled and most of time dies.
    Fuel pressure good. 19psi.
    Injectors look good. Rebuilt. Kit
Yes we're some 20 year old parts so what heck replacement of all. Even distributor. No change. Still does same thing. I really like this suburban. Hate to sell it if I can't fix it. I'm replace the engine coolant Temp sensor again. Hope it helps. Any comments please help.
    Base idle 4degree. Set correctly.
Has tune up. Good oil. Fuel filter always changed
    Allnvac lines good.
Tbi base gasket good to. New.
No codes. No check engine light.
Once warmed up runs almost perfect but not.

Scotty , I have the same engine as the truck in this video except it’s Chevrolet . When I replaced the old IAC the electrical clip that plugs into the IAC the pin protectors somewhat broke off where it goes into the IAC . Will this cause problems? I noticed in the video the clip for this IAC in the video for this truck is somewhat broken off . Will this cause the IAC to function improperly??

I have an alleged 2004 Taurus SEL with Dohc, and yet, when I tried to replace or clean my IACV, I saw a sticker that said I should not clean the valve, and while the hole openings were circular, the stock 2004 Taurus SEL replacement IACV had trapezoidal openings. I am trying to understand how to tell if my engine in this used Taurus is actually the standard engine. The part that should fit seems to come from an OHV flex model, which my car is not, based on the gas cap and seller info I got when I bought. Can you please advise? Thanks.
