Sadly enough they are, there are so many good albums out there but they keep putting people like Beyonce on the list (even though her last album is basic AF) and everything just in the name of popularity... not the art and the crafting of a project
@@Jeffreemedrano i enjoyed about 70% of renaissance but i also know that album was not made for me and was very important for a lot of people. i’m more talking about the abc song, harry styles, tiktok one hit wonders with boring lyrics and basic melodies, samey edm music etc that just continuously gets praise and attention even when it’s very very lazy and sounds like it was made by an algorithm. i personally don’t feel like renaissance was a lazy album, even the songs i really didn’t like felt like they were made with passion, so i don’t count that one. it was absolutely artful imo, especially ‘plastic off the sofa’, incredible song!
Beyonce had the most cohesive and well produced album of 2022. Doesn't matter whether ppl like her or not but you can't deny the fact that the woman can make body of works. Like making An album like lemonade(most critically acclaimed album of the 2010s decade) and then following it up with another masterpiece like Renaissance is insane. Also keep in mind to the fact that if Renaissance wins album of the year, This will be a first grammy win for more than 20 talented music artists.
I definitely loved Renaissance. The way each song transitions into the next one is insane. Also the imagery, the cover, the campy aesthetics. I can't wait for the visuals. Also, this is just act 1 of a three-act project, like what else is she planning, I'm hyped up!

Beyoncé’s Renaissance was put together so beautifully and the songs were fluid. It went so well together. You could tell Beyoncé and her team put in the right amount of work to please listeners! This is definitely my pick for AOTY.
I feel like Beyoncé deserves atleast 2 grammys, Renaissance is such a good album creatively, vocally. It's so unique and with a style that hasn't been popular for a while!!! I also feel like it has a lot of longevity.

Summer Walker deserved at the very least a nomination in the R&B categories but other than that and DJ Khaled getting nominated so many times and abcdefu getting a nom for song of the year I have pretty much no problems with the noms this year!

A smaller artist winning their first Grammy will catapult, legitimise and transform their career infinitely more than Beyoncé winning her 24th 25th & 26th Grammy. She has very little to gain. It's going to be a repeat of the 2017 Grammys, Adele vs. Beyonce. I'm a huge BTS fan so I'm really hoping they win at least 1 because they will be enlisting in the military soon so it's going to be years before they get another chance at a Grammy as a group at least, plus I do really enjoy My Universe.

He made history on snl. He’s been booked in and outside of the country for numerous festivals. This was a huge year for him. He deserves his nominations. But it’s the trend to hate him so I get it.

I loved motomami too. I think it didn't get nominated because it's hard to categorize. Rosalía went all in experimental with that album, that's why I love her.

Does anybody else find it odd that one quarter of the entire Renaissance track list is nominated for Grammys? Usually the Grammys will only recognise your singles and may cherry pick one other track. Yet they went further and nominated deep cuts like Virgos groove and Plastic off the sofa for Grammys. It’s great, but let’s be real, you are slightly over-representing one album when a quarter of their entire track list gets nominated while other artists get snubbed (especially in r&b this year). They snubbed smaller artist lead efforts to elevate Renaissance b-sides. Make that make sense. I repeat: some of these songs weren’t even singles. You can go back through past Grammy Cycles across some of the biggest albums that made splashes at the grammys, you won’t frequently see this. For example, in Taylor’s and Adele’s best album cycles, it’s usually just 2 tracks selected by the RA, 3 from Taylor’s Fearless, but still.. not 4 like Renaissance is receiving. 4 tracks from MJ’s Thriller were nominated. Either that means the recording academy thinks Renaissance is in the company of the greatest albums ever in the history of recorded music, or it means that songs from the Renaissance track-list are over-represented in the list of nominations this year? Best of luck to all this years nominees!
Tbh it's not really a new thing. It happened awhile ago with Mary J. with her "He Don't Think I Know" song winning and I believe Chloe X Halle had a song from their Ungodly Hour album that wasn't a single get nominated. Sometimes the deep cuts are just that good. Plus Virgo's Groove and POTS did receive a lot of praise from other singers when Renaissance was released.
Or they're doing it to give the award to one of those songs and then award another album that isn't Renaissance. You know so they can say they still gave Beyonce something
The people in this thread need to stop. We’ve all been watching the Grammys for years and we all know it’s unusual for not 2, not 3 but 4, FOUR songs from your track list being nominated. We all know that’s not run-of- -the-mill. The academy tends to *coalesce* around *one or two* songs from the track list. Four? MJ’s Thriller nominated, Beat It, Billie Jean, The Girl is Mine & Wanna be startin’ somethin’ but Renaissance IS NOT Thriller. There were 6 songs from Santana’s Supernatural nominated. The pattern here is these were some of the highest selling albums in the history of recorded music.

I really want Bad Bunny to win AOTY, I think he deserves it so much. His album “Un Verano Sin Ti” had a huge cultural impact on the latino community and in many countries worldwide. Even people who don’t speak Spanish were streaming his album. He was breaking a new record each week since the album’s release, plus its the first time in Grammy history that a Spanish-language album is nominated for AOTY ❤️ TIME magazine even ranked it as the best album of 2022!

Some of these nominations are questionable. During this eligibility period, we've had so much great music from less successful artists and great releases from some well-known acts, but a significant chunk of nominees are popular musicians with mid-to-garbage releases and industry plants. Grammy's are supposed to be about artistic excellence, not chart performance. In the 90s, they wouldn't give a Grammy to Mariah Carey and MADONNA when they were producing some all-time classics, but nowadays they're nominating anybody with a shred of relevance. I think the nominations are ok , but I think Beyonce got nominated too many times like why 9 times I feel like it's very evident that she will pass Georg Solti & become the most awarded artist in grammy history. I think it's cool that Harry Styles got nominated a lot of times. I was also surprised that Steve Lacy got nominated multiple times because he seems very new & this seems like his break out year towards the end of 2022. I'm also surprised that pop stars like Dove Cameron & Lauren Spencer Smith did not get nominated especially since she had her top 20 hit Boyfriend. @@Jeffreemedrano i enjoyed about 70% of renaissance but i also know that album was not made for me and was very important for a lot of people. i’m more talking about the abc song, harry styles, tiktok one hit wonders with boring lyrics and basic melodies, samey edm music etc that just continuously gets praise and attention even when it’s very very lazy and sounds like it was made by an algorithm.
i personally don’t feel like renaissance was a lazy album, even the songs i really didn’t like felt like they were made with passion, so i don’t count that one. it was absolutely artful imo, especially ‘plastic off the sofa’, incredible song!

Beyonce had the most cohesive and well produced album of 2022. Doesn't matter whether ppl like her or not but you can't deny the fact that the woman can make body of works. Like making An album like lemonade(most critically acclaimed album of the 2010s decade) and then following it up with another masterpiece like Renaissance is insane. Also keep in mind to the fact that if Renaissance wins album of the year, This will be a first grammy win for more than 20 talented music artists.
I definitely loved Renaissance. The way each song transitions into the next one is insane. Also the imagery, the cover, the campy aesthetics. I can't wait for the visuals. Also, this is just act 1 of a three-act project, like what else is she planning, I'm hyped up!

Beyoncé’s Renaissance was put together so beautifully and the songs were fluid. It went so well together. You could tell Beyoncé and her team put in the right amount of work to please listeners! This is definitely my pick for AOTY.

Does anybody else find it odd that one quarter of the entire Renaissance track list is nominated for Grammys? Usually the Grammys will only recognise your singles and may cherry pick one other track. Yet they went further and nominated deep cuts like Virgos groove and Plastic off the sofa for Grammys. It’s great, but let’s be real, you are slightly over-representing one album when a quarter of their entire track list gets nominated while other artists get snubbed (especially in r&b this year). They snubbed smaller artist lead efforts to elevate Renaissance b-sides. Make that make sense. I repeat: some of these songs weren’t even singles. You can go back through past Grammy Cycles across some of the biggest albums that made splashes at the grammys, you won’t frequently see this. For example, in Taylor’s and Adele’s best album cycles, it’s usually just 2 tracks selected by the RA, 3 from Taylor’s Fearless, but still.. not 4 like Renaissance is receiving. 4 tracks from MJ’s Thriller were nominated. Either that means the recording academy thinks Renaissance is in the company of the greatest albums ever in the history of recorded music, or it means that songs from the Renaissance track-list are over-represented in the list of nominations this year?

Tbh it's not really a new thing. It happened awhile ago with Mary J. with her "He Don't Think I Know" song winning and I believe Chloe X Halle had a song from their Ungodly Hour album that wasn't a single get nominated. Sometimes the deep cuts are just that good. Plus Virgo's Groove and POTS did receive a lot of praise from other singers when Renaissance was released.
Or they're doing it to give the award to one of those songs and then award another album that isn't Renaissance. You know so they can say they still gave Beyonce something
Artists can pick different songs to submit especially if they think different songs fit certain categories better.
For example Lizzo did Jerome in r&b performance but submitted truth hurts in pop categories
The people in this thread need to stop. We’ve all been watching the Grammys for years and we all know it’s unusual for not 2, not 3 but 4, FOUR songs from your track list being nominated. We all know that’s not run-of- -the-mill. The academy tends to *coalesce* around *one or two* songs from the track list. Four? MJ’s Thriller nominated, Beat It, Billie Jean, The Girl is Mine & Wanna be startin’ somethin’ but Renaissance IS NOT Thriller.
There were 6 songs from Santana’s Supernatural nominated. The pattern here is these were some of the highest selling albums in the history of recorded music.

During this eligibility period, we've had so much great music from less successful artists and great releases from some well-known acts, but a significant chunk of nominees are popular musicians with mid-to-garbage releases and industry plants. Grammy's are supposed to be about artistic excellence, not chart performance.
In the 90s, they wouldn't give a Grammy to Mariah Carey and MADONNA when they were producing some all-time classics, but nowadays they're nominating anybody with a shred of relevance.
It feels so sad to have watched a show decline like this and give up its' integrity for ratings.

I think part of the reason, IMO bad bunny's album had more impact globally than Motomami, She sweeped Latin Grammy and is nominated for latin categories, which she is going to sweep again, so I am not too mad.

The Grammy's have lost credibility by black listing Nicki Minaj and by never giving Beyonce album of the year especially the year she had lemonade.
Am I the only one surprised and upset that Joji wasn't nominated for Glimpse Of Us??? That was a massive song this year and it was also critically aclaimed. Like he beat Beyonce and Drake on the charts but no where to be seen in any nominations. Major snub.

My favorite new artist has been PINKPANTHERESS. Love her! Her mixtape To Hell With It is absolutely brilliant. And she's got a slew of other tunes, released and unreleased, floating around on Ytube.
I'm so glad Reniassance and it's non singles got nominations including my 2 Top 3 songs off of it, Cuff It and Virgo's Groove. Break My Soul is also a good song and even tho i don't listen to Plastic Off The Sofa, i'm glad it got some appreciation, Beyoncé deserves these nominations, Renaissance is one of the best of 2022.

I hope all too well wins song of the year because it’s really the best song written in this category by miles, also I feel like nicki minaj was really snubbed this year, super freaky girl broke so many records and I am not saying it’s her best song but but it is better than many rap nominated songs this year.

I think the nominations are ok , but I think Beyonce got nominated too many times like why 9 times I feel like it's very evident that she will pass Georg Solti & become the most awarded artist in grammy history. I think it's cool that Harry Styles got nominated a lot of times. I was also surprised that Steve Lacy got nominated multiple times because he seems very new & this seems like his break out year towards the end of 2022. I'm also surprised that pop stars like Dove Cameron & Lauren Spencer Smith did not get nominated especially since she had her top 20 hit Boyfriend. I'm also surprised that Gayle got nominated for ABCDEFU even though it was number 3 on Billboard Hot 100 Chart earlier this year. I'm happy MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) got nominated. Overall I think the grammy nominations are somewhat solid & decent & average at best. I really just see Beyonce making grammy award history this year just like she did last year which at this point in her career I don't think she needs all of those grammy awards BUT it is what it is 🤷♂️
