I first lost respect for them when they asked Michael Jackson to perform at the Grammys in 1988 (a revolutionary performance btw) and didn’t even have him win at least ONE Grammy for his album “Bad”. That album not only being one of the best selling albums of all time, but had such ICONIC songs like smooth criminal, bad, man in the mirror, the way you make me feel, Dirty Diana and MANY more. He was nominated for so many categories and went home with nothing. He looked upset at the awards show and I honestly never felt so bad. And don’t give me the bs that he won 8 in 1984 because not only was that years ago, but look at Beyoncé! She wins so many time each time. It’s disgraceful. @@luthfeeghazale6206 sadly, that’s untrue. In 1988, for his Bad Album, he didn’t win any Grammys. He was only nominated for three categories (album of the year, male pop vocal performance, male rnb vocal performance) and didn’t win anything
I really stopped watching the Grammys in 1996, when Mariah Carey didn't even win a single award on the six nominations for her 1995 Daydream album. Those were not Bad Bunny and Rosalía's first Grammys, they've won before (Bad Bunny with YHLQMDLG and El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo, and Rosalía with El Mal Querer). All well deserved tho!
The Weeknd had more streams on Spotify than the Grammys had views just in the 3 hours the Grammys were airing. That is the best thing about the Grammys this year easily
There was a big fail in Harrys performance, the platform stage was spinning the wrong way and it fked up the whole thing, Harry must have been stressed.

grammys have become pay to win and they’re not even trying to hide it. they love to put in just enough effort to keep you watching, but not enough to actually acknowledge good musicians that aren’t within the top 10 of charts. it’s like the golden globes of music atp
The huge red spinning platform in Harry's performance was spinning the opposite way than they rehearsed so it really messed him up and all of the dancers - one of the dancers talked about it on his Instagram...which sucks for harry and probably why the performance wasn't his best :(
Beyoncé’s achievement is amazing to see. But the bulk of her awards have been in the sub categories…the “typical” “black” categories (for want of better words)…”Urban”, R&B and Rap. Not winning AOTY again was disheartening to see. The most honored artist in history and she still isn’t worthy of THE biggest award? And I want to also make a wider separate point: the academy does not like to award black females the AOTY award. There have been very, VERY few winners, the last one being Lauryn Hill in 1999. I’m not saying black women should win because they’re black, but there have been several deserving black female artists who should have won AOTY since Lauryn…
at this point it's like they're giving her awards for the sake of giving and not because they actually consider her to be worth of them. after her self-titled album she stopped producing music that white people could deem as "relatable" and suddenly everyone started claiming that she's overrated and undeserving of her awards, let alone of something from the main 4. i don't think she cares about that as much as i do though lmao, she's still the artist with most grammy wins either way.

As always the speeches and winners reactions were really the only things that actually mattered to me. Although they did still nominate shit like DJ Khaled and Jack Harlow with a whole list of snubs so they truly havent learned all that much lol. But I guess the genre is at least getting some well-deserved respect from them slowly but surely
This year had the highest viewership in 3 years. The hip hop tribute and Jay-Z's performance shut it down! Beyonce will probably never perform at the Grammy's again after they had her up there pregnant with twins performing and still didn't give her album of the year for Lemonade. I don't blame her!

I think people are really trying so hard to hate harry on every little thing, they're passing comments without knowing what actually happened during the performance. No one able to pull off the performance in that difficulty but Harry managed to do it and it shows how good performer he is. And the other debate that he don't deserve AOTY is so stupid because music is subjective and everyone has different opinion if you don't like someone it doesn't mean it's nit good and 2022 was Harry's year his album, his single and everything is a hit and for me Harry's house is the Album of the year PERIOD...
I don´t hate Harry, it´s just the whole "he is revolutionary bc he is wearing a dress" "he is changing archetypes" but not recognizing the actual lgbt artist or minorities that have the same speech is hypocrite, i don´t think Harry is guilty of that but clearly as a brand is something that he knows is going to be praised about, unfortunately is not the same for Sam Smith or Lizzo. That´s mostly the issue i most common see.
Honestly after Covid, I haven't liked celebrities ever since. I still like the drama, but I'm not invested or taking sides anymore. I think a lot of people feel the same and just arnt as passionate as they used to be.
I agree the whole entire Hip-Hop honors performance I was on my feet dancing. It was Nostalgia overload in the best way. Yes wish some of them. could of been longer but over all it was amazing. And thank god GloRilla brought the energy back up after lil baby performance lol
lil baby demonstrated how much male rap has gone down hill since the 90’s 😂 glad glorilla came in with some real rap instead of the auto tuned bullshit
The only thing that I am confused about is why Harry himself is getting so much hate as if he gave himself the award! Every album that was nominated in the album of the year category was successful and popular, which is why they got nominated in the first place so whoever won was deserving of the award although Harry’s House is not my favorite Harry Styles album (fine line is) I just don’t understand the hate surrounding it lol congrats to all the winners though whether we feel like the deserved it or not, they won and there’s nothing we can do about it 😊
I think people are more upset with the Grammies because of how they pushed the idea of Beyoncé of winning AOTY which they do every year but they always give the award to someone unexpected to win also the fact no black woman has won AOTY since the 90 in itself is very questionable also his speech was a bit of tone deaf as well
@@abbyyyy41 I understand that and especially being a black woman I empathize with that. However I feel like lemonade should have won aoty. Renaissance just wasn’t my favorite Beyoncé album so maybe that’s part of why I feel a little disconnected. Also I can understand how Harry’s speech could come off as tone deaf but that’s the last thing that he was trying to be. He was just speaking on how he came from working in a bakery at 15/16 years old to auditioning for the X Factor UK getting cut as a solo act then getting put in a boy group which went on to be super successful and then when the group disbanded, he got to be even more successful. so really, I think it was a thing of him not expecting the amount of success, or being astonished by it in a sense.
I love the fact that Steve Lacy got something, I expected BAD HABIT to get something considering the hype behind it and the fact that I LOVEEEE that song so damn much.
There was a massive technical difficulty that devastated the performance, they couldn’t perform with energy because they were all trying to work out how to get through it and Harry nearly fell off the stage because of the mess
i hate that people are being so negative about the ceremony this year. i was hoping beyonce would win album of the year, but i was happy for harry regardless. beyonce as receiving her flowers all throughout the ceremony and did achieve a new record. lizzo had a big win with record of the year, and a lot of artists walked away with at least one award (adele, taylor swift, bad bunny, kendrick etc). overall i thought that it was a nice night as a lot of artists were recognized and we got so many pics/vids of artists interacting and enjoying themselves, so i wish we could just focus on the positive outcomes of the ceremony.
I think the majority of ppl have lost respect for the Grammys (and other award shows). It almost doesn't matter who's nominated or performs. Too many artists have been ignored, black balled, or unreservedly praised due to politics. I haven't watched it in years and don't plan on it any time soon.
yessss this is what i think/feel too. i was/am pissed at the grammys but right now the ceremony was much more enjoyable than the past few years (i hadn’t watched at least half of it in years, it was unbearable)….people have been too negative towards it online and there’s still a lot to celebrate here.
About Harry Styles: his stage was turning in the wrong direction so the dancers had to "improvise" (after a week of perfectioning their performance) an turn the whole dance around to to it in the opposite direction. This was confirmed by some of the dancers themselves. And there is also a rumor that his there was something wrong with his ear piece because he kept touching it which he normally doesn't do. So people think that he might not have been able to hear what he was supposed to hear...
My hot take is I think ABBA should have won pop duo/group as a legacy act. ABBA has never won an Grammy despite their outsized impact - even if I liked Unholy more it would seem like a great tribute
i think the people mad that bonnie rait won should realize in like 30+ years younger people probably won't know who their favs are and when they win stuff or make achievements they'll be saying the same thing that they said about bonnie. idk just something to think about
It was shocking to say the least, the album with 3 of its songs winning a Grammys and multiple songs nominated in various categories but yet not winning AOTY it’s just wild
renaissance losing album of the year to harry's house is such a shame on the recording academy. they are so detached from the music context conversations
I think it would have been a good block for like a preshow, like 30 minutes or an hour before it actuallt started. That way people can get cozy and start tuning in without it feeling like filler in the actual lineup of things. I did quite like it myself, but I would have perfered either longer or more performances.
It’s so disgusting to see Grammy voters go against Beyoncé Because she is so successful. She has become the pinnacle of what it means to be a entertainer yet she is a black woman, so they Weaponized her own success against her.
I just don't get why people wanted renaissance by Beyonce to win.. it was a mediocre, forgettable and boring album. I'm NOT saying that Beyonce isn't talented. But the album was just meh.
Harry's performance was rocky because the turntable started going the wrong way at the start of the performance, freaking out all the dancers and Harry. He even tried to warn the technician, but he didn't notice. So he was freaking out about doing a whole choreography backwards and losing his balance. Which he did.
I wish Scoring the End Of The World by Motionless In White and Pain Remains by Lorna Shore could've gotten nominated and won something. Those were great albums and MIW had BIG hits like Masterpiece and Werewolf. But that's just me. I really hope good metal artists get recognition at some point rather than just placed in one category that's always confusing.
I knew the grammys were sketchy when they snubbed both Ariana (2 hits) and the weekend(amazing full album). But what do we expect after what they did to Mariah in 1996.
My only problem is why everyone's making it about Beyonce....there were other nominees who deserved the AOTY too. Not just Beyonce. And it's no way acceptable that people were booing while Harry was giving his speech. I mean he too must have worked hard and it was not a bad album. Why can't we just appreciate an artist even if they're not our favourite!!!!
I know. I don’t listen to his music, but people have been so mean to him. He won at the end of the day. So like?? Beyoncé has 32 Grammys I think she’ll live. She was also cheering for him too. I feel bad that Beyoncé has to deal with her toxic fan base.

At least the jazz singers won some crossover awards like Best New Artist and one of my favourite modern producers and remixers Purple Disco Machine finally won a Grammy.
Actually Rosalía has won two Grammys in the same category (Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album), her first American Grammy was for her sophomore album El Mal Querer and now she won it again, and she has 12 Latin Grammys, in total making 14 awards

That’s because he was wondering how the hell they were going to manage the performance and having trouble staying on the wheel and not knocking over other performers, he nearly fell over at one point, he wasn’t thinking about vocals until he got off that wheel when they became fine. In concert he runs around all night and has no trouble holding notes, he’s extremely fit
Instead of all the fillers they put, they should have moved a few awards to the main show. Like Video Of The Year, so we can get a few moments of Taylor on stage. And Viola Davis' award, she should have had a full moment for her EGOT
It wasn't good at all.... it was bad...they tried to make it "social media" like and it backfired🤦🏽♀️. It was awful. The Hip Hop Honors was the best performance💯.
Harry's House is mediocre and bland elevator pop. The issue is that aside from Coldplay, it was easily the worst album in all categories it was nominated in. The worst part about the GRAMMYs this year is they've hyped this record breaking accomplishment by Beyoncé yet NONE of her 33 awards are for the big 4 categories... but Harry Styles can get on stage and say "things like this don't happen to people like me" when it's been 25 years since Lauryn Hill won AOTY. The last black woman to do so.
The comment wasn't about colour, it was about music artist in general, maybe a little unfortunate choice, but its not fair to blame him for the choice, its the Jury that should be blamed
Bey has won SOTY before
@@jarne_tpwk Nah it is about color and i would go as far to say its about gender too. Harry is the typical "White man from small town makes it big" story. It always happens to "people like him". That comment is distasteful and it shows lack of awareness.
it’s also about sexuality too. he made that comment because he’s queer, not because of his race or gender.
i definitely agree. i’m super proud of beyonce, but her breaking a record for wins doesn’t take away from the fact that the majority of her wins came from categories that the academy forces black people into. she’s consistently impacted the culture and built upon her artistry with her albums, and the grammys love to use her name to get ratings, but they never give her any of the big awards. it’s honestly pathetic. also with harry, i think he was. referring to how he didn’t grow up with music connections/had to actually work toward getting to where he is now. it was definitely a poor choice of words/miscommunication. i don’t think he meant anything bad by it

grammys have become pay to win and they’re not even trying to hide it. they love to put in just enough effort to keep you watching, but not enough to actually acknowledge good musicians that aren’t within the top 10 of charts. it’s like the golden globes of music atp

About Harry Styles: his stage was turning in the wrong direction so the dancers had to "improvise" (after a week of perfectioning their performance) an turn the whole dance around to to it in the opposite direction. This was confirmed by some of the dancers themselves.

@@lifeisbutadream2856 the fact that majority of them are older white men and one of their producers helped w “as it was” shows they’re always gonna award familiarity
Anytime Beyonce is in the AOTY category, people go crazy hoping she wins but the truth is her album is NOT always the best in that category. I don’t feel like it was this year either 🤷🏽♂️
Harry winning aoty is ridiculous 💀
Had to mention it here that Harry's turntable was spinning the other direction on stage than what they had practiced with which ruined his and the bg dancers routine, harrys earpiece wasn't working and there were some issues with his outfit as well so it should explain why his performance didn't go as per plan
The round table with all those people doesn’t need to be a thing anymore. They could have just posted videos on UA-cam for that matter.
y’all are saying harry had technical difficulties but one thing is .. those “technical difficulties” only affected the choreo, those didn’t affect his awful singing ! dude couldn’t even keep a note for the longest time and was struggling to breathe while singing. it’s actually insane i had to turn the volume off
That’s because he was wondering how the hell they were going to manage the performance and having trouble staying on the wheel and not knocking over other performers, he nearly fell over at one point, he wasn’t thinking about vocals until he got off that wheel when they became fine. In concert he runs around all night and has no trouble holding notes, he’s extremely fit
He didnt hear himself
I'm pretty happy to see that kim petras is the first trans person to ever win a grammy. It shows huge profression
Instead of all the fillers they put, they should have moved a few awards to the main show. Like Video Of The Year, so we can get a few moments of Taylor on stage. And Viola Davis' award, she should have had a full moment for her EGOT
Bonnie Raitt is a legend. It’s showing respect.
It wasn't good at all.... it was bad...they tried to make it "social media" like and it backfired🤦🏽♀️. It was awful. The Hip Hop Honors was the best performance💯.
i think the grammys did well this year with the awards. Each category rightfully deserved. I have no complaints for this grammy szn
Harry's House is mediocre and bland elevator pop. The issue is that aside from Coldplay, it was easily the worst album in all categories it was nominated in. Literally any other nominee except Coldplay would've taken it and the backlash wouldn't have been this much. How Beyoncè can lose album of the year for her last three consecutive albums isn't realistic(all while winning more Grammys than anyone else?)
Clearly Harry’s House was an excellent album or it wouldn’t of been nominated, it was a front runner behind Adele and Beyoncé, just not your cup of tea
He did NOT win that award
calling harry’s house ‘mediocre and bland elevator pop’ and saying that it was one of the worst albums in that category is such a ridiculous statement and just untrue. it’s a good album, it may not be to your taste but that doesn’t mean it’s bad and that other people don’t like it. harry’s album did very well and he had a great year with it. it was very much a top contender for the award..
beyonce loosing album of the year is a much bigger conversation than harry and the criticsm should be directed towards the academy and the people who vote. you don’t need to discredit harry and his work to prove that beyonce was more deserving. harry also didn’t vote for himself so there’s no need to put him down to prove your point.
@@VincentA824 abcdefu was nominated for SOTY and it isn't a very good song.
@@hazelnutjones6533 You do know music is subjective right? To me it was a bad album and it's not WRONG to say that it was mediocre elevator pop to me. Just because YOU enjoyed it doesn't mean other people don't have the right to actively dislike it or believe it didn't deserve the Grammy. I discredited his work because it doesn't deserve much credit to me, sorry if that hurt you!
Why do we still care about these awards…in the UK we have the NTA’s and it’s JUST a audience vote! That’s how it should be!
They do have award shows where the public votes. The difference for the Grammys is it's voted on by members of the recording academy so it's seen as a more prestigious award, and it's "supposed" to more about quality as opposed to popularity.
@@crystalsnow1138 I understand that but if I was an artist I’d find it much more impactful if the audience voted for me to win rather than a bunch of 70 yr old men on a corrupted board
@@Michelle-do1ui I agree.
I tried to watch the performances after.
If you go to their YT... it is not there.
Says a lot about the Grammys...I'm 40 this year and this is out of step with my generation, imagine the newer gens...
Yall now this things messed up when the kids choice awards has a better awards system the the grammys...
Ur right.
