My takes on her:
-she’s not a rapper. She’s an entertainer and a hustler who came up in a hustlers city. She found a pocket and played her moves right, making it to the industry’s spotlight and then running with it when she did. She’s an entertainer, not a rapper.
-she’s not the problem with hip hop, she’s one of many who have taken advantage of the various lanes which have opened up for kids who would otherwise have limited outlets. I used to downplay this point when trashing rappers who can’t rap and who embarrass the art form, til I finally came to realization people fake it til they make it in every industry. If musicians can fake talent so well that they become megastars, that is not their problem; It’s the fans who flock to talentless garbage who are at fault lol.
-she was always going to have an expiration date, literally no one including her thought otherwise. As much as many of yall want to imagine scenarios where these egomaniacs have zero awareness of their own demise and become flabbergasted when met with the challenges that come with no one giving a fuck what they do any more, but reality is most know when the end is near and they handle it as poorly as anyone else.
My point with the last topic is she can go one of two ways to cement her “legacy” in the industry (using that term loosely because to me she would be an afterthought in music history, but to others she may be a key piece so I’m not gonna act like an authority): either bow out of the spotlight gracefully or end up beefing loudly on Live with younger more celebrated artists and crashing out on service industry employees. I hope for her sake it’s the former because if she plays it like that there will be dozens of solid money-making ventures put right in her lap (next to the hordes of BBC the thirstiest of thirst boxes whip out and place there).
