10:44 "And I sat in regret of all the things I've done, For all that I've blessed and all that I've wronged, In dreams until my death, I will wander on" -- That hits so hard. Sometimes regret is the one thing that can keep us going because of our recognizing how we've hurt others. Being divorced, there's so much I wish that I could have done differently. And, sometimes regret is the most humbling feeling we will experience. Now, I try to be a better person than I was in the past because I owe that to those who I have hurt.

So glad you finally found Chris Cornell. He was in Soundgarden (considered the godfather of grunge), Temple of the Dog (a tribute band dedicated to his friend Andrew Wood and made up of members of Soundgarden and Wood’s band Mother Love Bone), Audioslave (formed with the members of RATM after Zac left) and also some really great solo work. He put out about 14 albums in all and was known as “The Voice” by other famous rock singers. Soundgarden’s heavy riffs were the inspiration for Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” My favorite songs of his include “Say Hello To Heaven” with Temple of the Dog - written as a personal tribute to Andrew Wood, the live performance of “When I’m Down,” Soundgarden’s songs “Spoonman,” “Blow Up the Outside World,” and “Fell On Black Days.” There are also audience recordings of a live performance of “Crawling” he did with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park - chilling, since they were friends and both committed suicide in 2017 just two months apart. I also highly recommend watching his covers of “Nothing Compares to You,” “Billie Jean,” and “Thank You.” You won’t be sorry!
One more thing: Tom Morello has an entertaining account of how Audioslave came to be and his first time meeting Chris Cornell in an interview he did with Howard Stern - highly recommended.

Beautiful reaction!! Because you've mentioned on many occasions that you grew up in a religious home, I was hoping you'd catch on to the meaning early on in the song. I just wanna highlight a couple of the lyrics for you. I think this will help put the puzzle pieces together for you... 1) -"In a room full of emptiness by a freeway I was lost in the pages of a book full of death. Reading how we'll die alone and if we're good we'll lay to rest anywhere we want to go".... The book full of death is The Bible. Musicians spend a lot of time on the road sleeping in Motel/Hotel rooms. What's in the nightstand drawer of every motel/hotel room... the Bible.🤷♀ 2)-."In your house, I long to be. Room by room, patiently, I'll wait for you there like a stone"... Chris was referencing part of John 14:1-3... "In my Father's house there are many rooms".😉 Anyway, just wanted to share that little bit with you. Now that we've all shared so much about the song and Chris with you... I hope you get the chance to listen/rewatch this song. I personally would love to see you react to it a second time now you're armed with some of the background info to the song and the legend that is Chris Cornell!😊 Peace and light...✌💞
This is one of the greatest rock singers in the history of the world bro. I have a take on the song and what it means for me. Chris Cornell was a tormented soul, who suffered with bouts of depression. I believe he was searching for something, something spiritual. I feel like he was talking about reading the Bible and searching for clarity and hope. If you go back and listen to everything again, you may see it that way too. I feel like “In your house” was him looking to what happens after death and if he could make it to heaven. It saddens me that he was so lost at times. He was such a sweet, intelligent guy and his talent was so amazing. I pray he’s resting in peace.
Definetly go down Chris Cornell rabbit hole. You wont be disappointed! Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and his solo projects. Chris is and will always be the GOAT. Gone too soon and makes me emotional every time I hear one of his songs. 💔
There's no one else like Chris. One of my favorites is "Black Hole Sun", but his solo acoustic version (link below). Rest In Paradise, Chris Cornell. Thanks for this great reaction. ✌💙✌ Black Hole Sun (acoustic solo) -- ua-cam.com/video/Ts7dTQhg0RY/v-deo.html
Dip your toes into the greatest rock vocalist of the last 20 years, and the best rock band in the last 15 years. You can hear Chris's vocals in full effect on "Cochise", "Hunger Strike", or "Welcome to Heaven." Chris Cornell was in 3 bands and had a couple solo albums too. His covers of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" and Micheal Jackson's "Billie Jean" are top-notch covers.
Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam’s lead singer Eddie Vedder were in a group called temple of the dog and their voices are great together. Hunger strikes is a very good song and worth the listen.
This song is the same song that I play when I'm sad, when I'm grieving, when I'm in love, when I'm chilling, when I'm contemplative, and even when I'm training or angry... It fits almost every situation, BUT, you need to just wave with the music, if you get too absorbed in the lyrics or the vocals/vocalist, your mind will guide you to dark places. This song is beautifully and poetically haunting, but equally terrifying, at least for me. When Chris was alive this song already had a dark meaning for me. But after his death, it's hard to listen to this song without linking it with what happened later... Contemplating in silence as you sink yourself further down into vices that you didn't want to, confused not only with your own life but with the life of those who are already dead, and with questions that although you'll eventually feel bound to ask, you'll never achieve a proper answer, thus becoming frustrated and angry, summarizing all of your internal paradoxes in a frequent habit of feeding this autophagic cycle as it spirals your life to a way where destruction becomes the only reasonable, believable and ethical alternative. It's a wild ride, but for me, it's inspirational at the very core. To listen to this song is to open yourself to feel whatever is troubling your mind, heart and soul, and in my case, to write about it with as much passion as the singer who sang it, and to sing it or your own creation with the same level of authenticity, power, devotion and emotion as this amazing artist did even on his darker days. ... It's really paradoxical, and dangerous, yet inspiring to listen to this song at the right time and moment. And that's why it's one of my favourite songs of all time. It gives me this sense of fragility but also power. It reminds me of my humanity and much more. But I won't deny that listening to this while in a bad state of mind could be either a cleansing ride of full rebirth or your last failed attempt to do so.
That's it exactly. It's the band from Rage Against the Machine, and Chris Cornell was the lead singer from a grunge band named Soundgarden. Absolute genius vocalist. They had some great music!
Chris was the lead singer of sound garden up until he left and joined Rage Against the Machine after Zach left, but then he left soon after, rejoined and they renamed it audioslave. He then left the band sometime in the 2010s after rage decided to reunite, but ended up ending his own life on tour with audioslave in 2017
I love the fact you're open to broadening your knowledge and love of music through your reactions. Long may it continue. The singer, Chris Cornell (RIP), was so prolific with his bands and solo work. He did a brilliant cover of Billie Jean you might want to check out.
Cornell’s vocals with Rage’s musical stylings. Loved Audioslave, sadly slept on by gatekeepers and dubbed “Rage Against the Soundgarden”. Like a Stone is hauntingly beautiful. Such a shame that we never got the fourth album. RIP Chris Cornell.
Chris Cornell: an UNBELIEVABLE VOICE!! Loved him singing COCHISE (banger video, too)...but: there is NOTHING I've heard him sing that is not just SO GOOD!! HUGS, BP!! ENJOY!!
This song is about his self. And I said that right, not himsеlf, his SELF. He desperately wanted for that sense of self to return that he had lost long ago. He prayed and begged and tried all that he knew for that return until the day that he took his own life and shed his shell. This is what it is like to have depression. I wish he could have found a way back before it was too late. And not just for what the world lost but for his soul to be at peace and happiness.
Chris Cornell is amazing! He had an eclectic career from his time in the Grunge band Soungarden, the supergroup Temple of the Dog as they paid homage to a fallen friend, his solo career, and finally his time in Adioslave. He set the standard for many young artists for vocal clarity and emotion.
This is one of my fav ever… Chris Cornell was such a beautiful soul… miss him so much… his vocals graced several bands and individual endeavors .. losing him was honestly heartbreaking… Chris Cornell Forever…. 🖤🫶🏻🖤
One of my all time favorite songs and i am the highway . I could listen to Chris cornell sing literally anything. His acoustic cover of billie Jean is absolutely amazing
I saw Chris Cornell when he was touring w Linkin Park (I think it was like 10-12 shows) and he sang with Chester Bennington Crawling. It was the most beautiful thing ever. I saw Chris Cornell in one of the last shows Soundgarden did before they broke up (Lollapalooza 99 w Rage, The Ramones, Psychotica and Metallica) Really a phenomenal career ole Chris Cornell has had
Zach had left Rage and the remaining members were in search of a singer. Rick Rubin suggested Chris Cornell who had parted ways with his band Soundgarden. Together they recorded three albums. You might want to check out the song Cochise which was their first single. I don’t remember where I heard this so I am not sure if it’s true but I believe this video was filmed in Jimi Hendrix’s former residence.
Chris might be one of the best voices ever. His own stuff...Euphoria Morning is a classic and still the best stuff he has done vocally. He can do it all.Legend
You just explained holding in to meet on the other side and I looked at it vice versa which is what I love about how the lyrics are like poetry almost they can be viewed in so many ways. I love that
Ya know I've heard it said the ending of your days such regrets fall upon your heart of what you could of done or wish you wouldn't have done hence the regret so to me I feel you should love while you can. Give those you love the roses while you can pick them so you don't regret going wandering if they knew how much you loved them
I am looking forward to this! I love Chris Cornell’s voice! I miss him so much. I loved his music and his amazing voice. I have to wait 3 more hours to see him blow your mind with his vocals!!! Happy to see you checking this song out!! Also check him out in the Audioslave song “I am the highway” it is another really great tune.
Audioslave was literally Rage Against the Machine band members but with Chris Cornell as lead singer. Chris Cornell was also the lead singer of Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog. One of the best voices of the 90’s
🙋🏼♂️ 🇬🇧 what a voice . One of the best of the last .. no , one of the best ever . Chris Cornell a beautiful yet troubled soul . Missed by so , so many . RIP 🙏🏻 .... day 10 asking BP .. Cab Calloway , Jumpin' Jive , PLEASE !!! ☺️ ( i won't stop asking !! 😁 )
My favourite rock voice. Gone too soon. Rest in power Chris. You should check out some of his other projects since you enjoyed his voice. His rendition of Nothing Compares to You from Sirius FM is spell binding, Hunger Strike from Temple of the Dog and the obligatory Black Hole Sun from Soundgarden.
Chris Cornell is a huge legend. He was the lead singer for Soundgarden as well as having a successful solo career. He's talking about an old man waiting to die and go to God's house. He and Chester Bennington were best pals and when Chris supposedly committed suicide,Chester did the same only a couple of minths later.
Chris Cornell (lead singer) is a legend in his own time, he was also Soundgarden lead singer as well as Temple of the dog and also had a solo career, he is the goat of alternative rock. He has had a lot of top singles. You should check him out more, he is well known for his range of vocals.
Rip Chris Cornell, he was a tortured soul, just like his good friend Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. Both awesome men, and artists, both lost to Suicide. Love Audioslave 🤘🏼😘🤘🏼 Songs can be interpreted in whichever way it hits you personally that’s what is so great about music.
Lead singer is Chris Cornell of TOTD & Soundgarden, Brad Wilk on drums, Tim Commerford is bassist & the genius Tom Morello is on guitar. The last 3 were in Rage/Machine...for years Tim Commerford thought it was a song about love, Chris Cornell explained that it was about an old person sitting and wondering about death & where they will end up..."in your house" might refer to God's house, perhaps "heaven" (?) He had a "complex" relationship with God & religion. Chris was one of the greatest songwriters/poets besides being one of the greatest singers. He liked leaving his lyrics open to interpretation for his fans. 🥰
I am the highway, thats a Great one too. Good eye! Yes, those are RATM band members. After Zach left, their manager encouraged them to join with Chris. Chris Cornell, an enigmatic voice, was also in Soundgarden(Black Hole Sun, Fell on Black Days) and Temple of the Dog(Hunger Strike feat. Eddie Vedder, and future Pearl Jam musicians).
Being a huge fan of Chris and when this song came out back in the day I was mesmerized by all of it. But after his death, it feels like a premonition. This song hits differently now. Still love it but it feels more somber.
Chris was my son’s favorite. He was singing this song Karaoke when right after found out he had passed. I got that devastating text. Someone recorded my son a different night, he learned to sing a lot from Chris. Marcus Metz “Like a Stone” for anyone that’s at all curious. RIP Chris. Gone way too soon. 😢 Edit: I know this isn’t about my son. Someone mentioned how Chris influenced many with his powerful singing style. No wonder he was my son’s favorite as I’m sure he sits high with many his age and beyond. Powerful and so full of emotion.
OK, Marcus needs to get his ass out there. Go to The Voice or something. Do something with that voice... not Like a Stone because he sounds SO similar to Chris he'd get knocked for not "making it his own." if that makes sense. I watched several times to see if he was lip syncing because it's that close. Do a male version of a P!nk ot Adele or Sia song with that voice and put it in front of the right people and he will SLAY. Hell of a voice. I can't believe he has so few videos and views. Tell him to record and upload more ASAP please.
@@sahreeyurblu actually he does an Adele song if you look at his channel. He also sings a lot more Cornel songs and plays guitar. He did try out for American Idol years ago and didn’t make it. I’ll show him what you wrote and see if it inspires him. He lives about an hour from Seattle (small town maybe that’s why so low of views?) so he is close to where it all happened with Chris! 😄 That is so nice of you, by the way.
@@carlahelin5203 Idol unfortunately became more about the show and the sob stories than the talent. They pick the stories, not the voices. He's got an incredible voice. He should keep putting it out there. 🙌
Thanks mate, great reaction. This is my all-time favourite. Haunting lyrics from Chris, with that wicked bass-line. I'd definitely check out Cochise by Audioslave, that's a real banger.
Chris Cornell wrote some pretty dark songs as the singer/ guitarist of Soundgarden ('The day I tried to live' ... 'Pretty noose') and when he joined Audioslave in 2002, this track from their debut album was another dark tune that became their biggest hit... He had just gotten out of rehab and out his first marriage when this record came out (He remarried and had kids again)... Tragically, Chris Cornell took his own life in 2017 after a Soundgarden show. Audioslave was a hard rock band, consisting of 3 (of 4) members of Rage Against the Machine (after vocalist Zack de La Rocha left the band in 2001) - Tom Morello (guitar), Timmy C (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums) wanted to carry on but in a new band... They approached singer Chris Cornell about auditioning... he only asked that his lyrics would not be political. The debut album from Audioslave was a kick that the rock scene needed in '02 as the songs 'Cochise'... 'Show me how to live' ... 'I am the highway' and 'Like a stone' became MTV and radio singles... the album sold 3x platinum. Audioslave returned in 2004 w/ the 2nd album 'Out of exile'... it went platinum. However, Chris Cornell opted to bail on Audioslave in 2006 after the 3rd album 'Revelations'... and returned to his solo career. Cornell reunited w/ Soundgarden in 2012 for their last album 'King Animal'... his death in 2017 ended the possibility of another Audioslave record 😪
Another label that's given to bands that merge established successful artists are also called super groups. Like when Joey Jordison (drummer for Slipknot) stepped in for Lars Ulrich (Metallica) played a show last minute with them, and no one missed Lars lol cuz Joey R.I.P. was a monster. Temple Of The Dog is another good colab Chris Cornell did with another Legendary vocalist Eddie Vedder it's definately worth a listen.
Good God, you're dipping your toes into Chris Cornell. I'm here for it. It blows my mind that Chris always shone the brightest. Even when in a band of superstars, he's always stands out. RIP Check out his Billy Jean cover, or his Nothing Compares 2 U cover.
I’m trying to imagine hearing this for the first time and love watching your reaction. Chris Cornell was next level. I still can’t believe he is gone and how it all played out. Thought he was gonna be one of the few super talented artists from the grunge era that would still be with us. He went on to do so much and still mental illness won out in the end. 😔 Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog, his solo career…. Such a massively talented human being. Worth a deep dive 💯 Love watching your take on all the songs and artists that mean so much to me.
There was, when I first heard this song, an immediate thought at the chorus, "in your house i long to be. Room by Room, patiently, i will wait for you there like a stone." At the time I was voraciously digesting as much information as I could pertaining to world religions so Cornell's reference to Gods, angels, got my attention as well. So, two immediate ideas were a harkening to "In my Father's house there are many rooms" and"Be still and know that I am God." Later I learned it was, for him, about the afterlife that qe hope for, where we reunite with loved ones and live together eternally.
I always interpreted this song to be one of longing. A longing for rest and peace. To be in heaven away from all your troubles, but to be waiting for those you love and until that day comes continuing to wander on trying to do your best to be a good person and ultimately find your way to your eternal peace. Just my take. Chris had an incredible voice and presence. One of my favorite male vocalists.
Chris Cornell was the lead singer for Soundgarden back in the Grunge Daze! Then onto Audioslsve. He is the GOAT! He left us too soon.
FACTS! RIP, CHRIS!!

Chris Cornell is one of the great ones, his voice and his music will live on forever! RIP Chris
There's no one else like Chris. One of my favorites is "Black Hole Sun", but his solo acoustic version (link below). Rest In Paradise, Chris Cornell. Thanks for this great reaction. ✌💙✌
Black Hole Sun (acoustic solo) -- ua-cam.com/video/Ts7dTQhg0RY/v-deo.html
In " your house" is symbolizing heaven in my opinion
Dip your toes into the greatest rock vocalist of the last 20 years, and the best rock band in the last 15 years. You can hear Chris's vocals in full effect on "Cochise", "Hunger Strike", or "Welcome to Heaven." Chris Cornell was in 3 bands and had a couple solo albums too. His covers of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" and Micheal Jackson's "Billie Jean" are top-notch covers.
Rock. Plain and simple
Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam’s lead singer Eddie Vedder were in a group called temple of the dog and their voices are great together. Hunger strikes is a very good song and worth the listen.
He is in God's house, waiting like a stone. At least, that is how I have always seen this song to be. Thank you.
Chris Cornell miss you brother. Audio slave were amazing and just what you need to pump your day up
Chris was the lead singer of sound garden up until he left and joined Rage Against the Machine after Zach left, but then he left soon after, rejoined and they renamed it audioslave.
Oh that Billie Jean cover was really next level. Definitely should be checked out!
You definitely need to hear this BP!
My son totally learned a lot about how to sing from Chris. He actually sounds a lot like him. This song, Marcus Metz, karaoke You Tube.
Chris was amazing. He could mesmerize an audience with just his voice and an acoustic guitar. Check out his cover of Billie Jean.
I so miss his voice, gone too soon! R.I.P. Chris ❤️
So sad the way he went..
No one sings like him anymore. ❤
Cochise was their first single - The official video is badass!!!!
One of the greatest lyricists ever!
I saw Chris Cornell when he was touring w Linkin Park (I think it was like 10-12 shows) and he sang with Chester Bennington Crawling. It was the most beautiful thing ever. I saw Chris Cornell in one of the last shows Soundgarden did before they broke up (Lollapalooza 99 w Rage, The Ramones, Psychotica and Metallica)
Really a phenomenal career ole Chris Cornell has had
Zach had left Rage and the remaining members were in search of a singer. Rick Rubin suggested Chris Cornell who had parted ways with his band Soundgarden. Together they recorded three albums. You might want to check out the song Cochise which was their first single. I don’t remember where I heard this so I am not sure if it’s true but I believe this video was filmed in Jimi Hendrix’s former residence.
I heard that too years ago but I cant remember if it was a member of the band in an interview or the director I cant remember who it was though
Thank you for stopping and reading the lyrics!
Chris might be one of the best voices ever. His own stuff...Euphoria Morning is a classic and still the best stuff he has done vocally. He can do it all.Legend
RIP CHRIS. What a voice and a talent. Check out Soundgarden. He was the lead singer of that band. Fantastic!
Those lyric man laying like a stone waiting to die alone and the yearning love for another in mind holding him to life geez that's beautiful
Give those you love the roses while you can pick them so you don't regret going wandering if they knew how much you loved them
FYI don't know if anybody else has said this but, (true fact) the house in the video was Jimmy Hendrix house.
I've always liked the melody of this song but could never quite wrap my head around the lyrics...until now. Thank you. 💜
Having to witness these guys live was so awesome...
I second the cab calloway request
@@j.t.3798thanks 🙏🏻 you just know BPs reaction would be 🤣 🤣 🤣
My favourite rock voice. Gone too soon. Rest in power Chris.
You should check out some of his other projects since you enjoyed his voice. His rendition of Nothing Compares to You from Sirius FM is spell binding, Hunger Strike from Temple of the Dog and the obligatory Black Hole Sun from Soundgarden.
living this song right now ..waiting for my beautiful baby girl
Chris Cornell is a huge legend. He was the lead singer for Soundgarden as well as having a successful solo career.
He's talking about an old man waiting to die and go to God's house.
He and Chester Bennington were best pals and when Chris supposedly committed suicide,Chester did the same only a couple of minths later.
Chester did it on Chris's birthday, 3 months later.
@@sharoncarlisle9453 Thank you. I wasnt sure of the date. I knew it was a couple or so months. So very sad. We lost them both. :{

I am the highway!!! I can listen to Chris cornell sing anything. His acoustic cover of Billie Jean is amazing
Chris Cornell (lead singer) is a legend in his own time, he was also Soundgarden lead singer as well as Temple of the dog and also had a solo career, he is the goat of alternative rock. He has had a lot of top singles. You should check him out more, he is well known for his range of vocals.
His rendtion of Nothing Compares to You is so beautiful you should check it out
Rip Chris Cornell, he was a tortured soul, just like his good friend Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. Both awesome men, and artists, both lost to Suicide. Love Audioslave 🤘🏼😘🤘🏼
Songs can be interpreted in whichever way it hits you personally that’s what is so great about music.
Chris Cornell singing Nothing Compares 2 U is a must react.
Chris's voice is so haunting and unique. Love it. Great reaction. ❤ This is maybe grunge music 🎶. The guitars are 🔥
I am the highway, thats a Great one too.
Audioslave is just good tunes man. I can happily play some Audioslave any time anywhere.
My all-time favorite song.
Being a huge fan of Chris and when this song came out back in the day I was mesmerized by all of it. But after his death, it feels like a premonition. This song hits differently now. Still love it but it feels more somber.
Tom Morello (the guitarist here) and Chris Stapleton (legendary country music singer) joined up for the song "The War Inside"
You reacted rightfully, tonallly. I’ve seen many reactions and you seemed to understand the moral and contrast, well done.
I visit chris cornell at his gravesite often. He was the voice of my generation. Which also your generation. Im 43.
I checked it out! Amazing! ❤
@@Dennis-en9qy awww. Thanks. That was nice of you.
Tom Morello is just incredible
This song was one of the ones that Got me through a very hard time.
Thanks mate, great reaction. This is my all-time favourite.
Haunting lyrics from Chris, with that wicked bass-line.
I'd definitely check out Cochise by Audioslave, that's a real banger.
BP, there is so much Chris Cornell to discover. Chris and Eddie Veder (Pearl Jam) was the greatest of 90’s rock.
RIP Chris, hope you found peace.
Played the Album to death TWICE! I got through 2 cds before I could buy a digital copy.
RIP
Check out his Billy Jean cover, or his Nothing Compares 2 U cover.
absolutely ♥ this song! Great vocals! RIP Chris Cornell!
Audioslaves"s I Am The Highway is worth a listen.
He is already there. RIP.
This song is such a vibe!! Haven't heard it in a minute, so this will be a nice nostalgic experience. ❤❤
It's a classic. Beautiful song. Great breakdown. Thanks
Rip Chris 🕊️ amazing artist gone way too soon 😢
There was, when I first heard this song, an immediate thought at the chorus, "in your house i long to be. Room by Room, patiently, i will wait for you there like a stone." At the time I was voraciously digesting as much information as I could pertaining to world religions so Cornell's reference to Gods, angels, got my attention as well. So, two immediate ideas were a harkening to "In my Father's house there are many rooms" and"Be still and know that I am God."
Later I learned it was, for him, about the afterlife that qe hope for, where we reunite with loved ones and live together eternally.
This is my absolute favourite Chris Cornell song... ❤
EEEEKKKK. MY FAVORITE artist. So excited to get into this!!
Chris has the best voice in rock, a true loss for the entire world 🤘
