"Bro! What is going on in this music video!?" Is what we all said first time we watched it. If you continue down the Soundgarden rabbit hole I would suggest (if you haven't reacted to them yet), Rusty Cage, Outshined, Spoonman, and Fell On Black Days. All great songs with Chris Cornell singing his heart out in the earliest part of his career.
RIP Chris. One of a kind. Amazing voice and writer. Chris has said that the song came while driving home and hearing something about a black hole sun by the reporter. He didn't hear the rest of the story, just that line and he put it together. A song he has said is just a put together with words and phrases he thought sounded good together, almost as if the listener is supposed to figure out a meaning for it for themselves. Chris was an interesting cat. As many genius artists are. You don't always know what or why they do what they do.
Exactly. It's about that point in life we all reach, where, yeah, it's raining and it sucks but we lose sight of the fact it's only rain and we wish for a deliverance that has far more dire consequences than the rain.
It's great watching you discover Chris Cornell... lots of depth, lots of great music to enjoy. My favorite voice. The world feels diminished without him in it.
Fell on Black Days is one of the greatest Soundgarden songs! Even beyond that, its personally one of my favorite songs of all time both lyrically and sonically from any artist ... period.
this song has a special place in my heart. it was what i was listening to when i realized i had a drug problem 25 year ago. i still remember that night vividly. i was way too under the influence, flipping through a book of aliens in fiction, this song was playing in the background, and i started staring at the wall, hallucinating, felt sick to my stomach and ran to the bathroom to go throw up. i remember hugging the toilet, slipping in and out of consciousness, worried i was going to die. for me, this song was the first step in my sobriety.
Another prophetic thing is the album art to this album looks eerily like the first photo of a black hole 25 years later. Check it out. Soundgarden is tapped in, I tell ya.
He didn't take his life. He was taken out. Was about to expose the pedo world with Chester Bennington. When his killer or killers have their judgment day with God. wish I could be there to witness it! RIP Chris. Gone way too soon!!
They want you to think those artists took their own lives. Wasn't he and that other guy in to wanting to do something about child trafficking ??? Hmm?????
@donaldshrader4612 yes, Chris and Chester Bennington were working on a documentary about child trafficking. Those involved were not going to let that happen! RIP Chris and Chester.
U really can't go wrong with anything that Chris Cornell touches!! He definitely sits at the very top of my list of favorite male vocalists! This man is deeply missed!
There's another band Chris Cornell was a part of you may want to check out. That group is Temple of the Dog. It was formed after the death of Chris's friend Andrew Wood, who was the singer of the band Mother Love Bone, and featured two members of Mother Love Bone. They recorded one album, which had a popular single "Hunger Strike", which featured guest vocalist Eddie Vedder. Most of the members of Temple of the Dog besides Chris were, at the time, forming what would become Pearl Jam.
NIce reaction, I saw a nice interview with Chris about 10 years ago. He said he wrote this song in about 2 hrs while driving home from a gig. Wrote the music and lyrics in his head and when he got home he sang it into a recorder in case he was too high to remember. But said he did remember every note the next morning. Just an amazing talent.
The first thing I ever heard from Chris and I was hooked… thought he would always be around… probably one of the best voices we have ever been so lucky to have graced planet…Earth not the same without Chris….🌎🌍🌏
Thanks for reacting to another classic. NGL, Chris Cornell and Maynard James Kennan helped me pull myself out of my suicidal drinking lifestyle... mostly all of Audioslave's music and the album "The Thirteenth Step" by A Perfect Circle. A lot of Chris's lyrics have a prophetic edge to them. A lot of fans think the song Limo Wreck was prophetic of the bombing of the twin towers. Im looking forward to you exploring more songs from my favorite band. ❤
The entire summer of 1994 I could not get this song out of my head! Probably my favorite Soundgarden track is Blow Up the Outside World. I also love Burden in My Hand.
Huge hit single in 1994 w/ a creepy music video... and cryptic lyrics. That was 'Black hole Sun' by Soundgarden... It was about Cornell wishing for the end of the world around him... or the end of everything. He wrote a similar song w/ Soundgarden - 'Blow up the outside world'... Chris Cornell had a history of struggling w/ depression (and drugs)... Quite a few of his lyrics are real dark and ominous... it was clear now, knowing how he died in 2017, that he was clearly struggling and considering the end of his life w/ songs like 'Pretty noose' ... 'The day I tried to live' ... 'Like suicide' ... 'Fell on black days' ... by Soundgarden 🤘🤘🔥🔥 One of the standout solo songs by Chris Cornell was "Can't change me"... from 2000. It was about how a woman he was close to has a profound effect on everyone around her, but she can't seem to make a difference w/ him. Soundgarden was the Seattle band that Chris Cornell formed around 1984 and soon rounded up the line-up w/ Kim Thayil (lead guitar), Matt Cameron (drums) and Hiro Yamamoto (bass)... They became a major attraction in the Seattle underground scene and debuted w/ 2 EP's and the album 'Ultramega OK' in 1988... and then signed w/ a major label A&M Records, releasing 'Louder than love' in 1989 before bassist Hiro Yamamoto left the band; he was replaced in 1990 by Ben Shepherd (bass) 1991 was a pivotal year for the Seattle rock scene - Alice in Chains had debuted w/ 'Facelift' in 1990... Pearl Jam recorded and released their debut album 'Ten'... And Nirvana broke the scene into commercial success w/ their 2nd album 'Nevermind'... Chris Cornell had released 2 albums that year - Temple of the Dog (as a tribute to his late friend Andrew Wood) and Soundgarden's album 'Badmotorfinger'... By 1992, both Temple of the Dog and the 'Badmotorfinger' album had sold platinum in the USA and Soundgarden was actively touring into 1993. After the death of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain in 1994, the Seattle scene was starting to implode w/ Pearl Jam disappearing from public view and Alice in Chains slowly retreating from view as well... But Soundgarden released their biggest record 'Superunknown' in '94 and it was a massive hit on MTV and radio w/ 4 music videos and sold 6x platinum. In 1996, Soundgarden returned w/ the album 'Down on the upside'... it sold platinum, but the band was not functioning optimally on tour and while touring on the record, live appearances were reportedly so bad that being on tour was unsustainable. In 1997, Soundgarden shocked everyone by announcing their split. Soundgarden finally reunited in 2012 and recorded a comeback album 'King animal'... and were working on a new album by 2017. However, the same issues that broke up the band seemed to dog Soundgarden by that year... After a particularly bad Soundgarden show in 2017, Chris Cornell was apparently distraught while on the phone w/ his wife and abruptly hung up... When security went to check on Chris Cornell a while later, he had barricaded himself in his hotel room... They eventually found him dead from suicide 😪 Chris Cornell joined an ominous list of 90's rockers that passed away too soon... from Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Layne Staley and bassist Mike Starr of Alice in Chains... Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots... Mark Lanegan of the Screaming Trees... bassist Kristen Pfaff of Hole ... Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon... Bradley Nowell of Sublime ... Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone ... Dolores O' Riordan of The Cranberries... etc.
I can’t speak on all the songs listed but “Like Suicide” tells a story about a bird which flew into a glass door and was wounded and he had to choose to let it suffer or put it out of misery.
Some of the things chris himself said about this song was, that he was just "playing with words for words sake", "guess it worked for a lot of People but I have no idea how you'd begin to taken that one litteraly" and "i sure didnt have an understanding of it I was just sucked in by the music and tried to paint a picture with the lyrics’ there was no real idea to get across" Also according to the band the video was entirely the directors idea, and at that point the only thing they wanted to do in videos was pretend to play and not look to excited about it.
I still want to see the...proof?...files?...on who was jiggling away their body fat. It honestly seems so stupid that if was introduced today it would be endorsed by Kim Kardashian on insta.
Perhaps you could react to Prince's cover of "Play that funky music white boy/Inglewood Swinging/Fantastic Voyage". Prince's live performances were epic.
Here you go and thank you! Rapper FIRST time REACTION to Chris Cornell - "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince Cover)! BRUH!!!! ua-cam.com/video/yTov1s4AK_g/v-deo.html
written by Chris Cornell, has a layered and open-ended meaning that invites various interpretations. It explores themes of disillusionment, concealed darkness, and the quest for individual liberation. Rusty Cage, Spoonman are great Soundgarden songs! Chris Cornell then was with Audioslave, songs include I Am the Highway, Like A Stone. Check them out! Amazing!
Chris Cornell was one of the greatest grunge rock vocalists of all times. I am still amazed at his vocal range and sheer power. My favorite Soundgarden song is Fell on Black Days. You should check out his super group Temple of the Dog and the song Hunger Strike wth guest vocalist Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. What a collaboration!
From Chris Cornell by way of wikipedia.. " "I wrote it in my head driving home from Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, a 35-40 minute drive from Seattle. It sparked from something a news anchor said on TV and I heard wrong. I heard 'blah blah blah black hole sun blah blah blah'. I thought that would make an amazing song title, but what would it sound like? It all came together, pretty much the whole arrangement including the guitar solo that's played beneath the riff. I spent a lot of time spinning those melodies in my head so I wouldn't forget them. I got home and whistled it into a Dictaphone. The next day I brought it into the real world, assigning a couple of key changes in the verse to make the melodies more interesting. Then I wrote the lyrics and that was similar, a stream of consciousness based on the feeling I got from the chorus and title" " - " "It's just sort of a surreal dreamscape, a weird, play-with-the-title kind of song" " - " "Lyrically it's probably the closest to me just playing with words for words' sake, of anything I've written. I guess it worked for a lot of people who heard it, but I have no idea how you'd begin to take that one literally." " - - Which is all rather strange considering it seemed pretty obvious even at the time {I turned 18 in December 94} and absolutely certain now that this was a call for the World to End! Chris Cornell was 29 when Superunknown was released and probably 28 when he wrote Black Hole Sun, he grew up in the 70s and 80s turning 16 in 1980 and 26 in 1990. The video is clearly a play on ostensibly right of centre suburban christian and jewish americans of the 70s and 80s believing that life was a utopia whilst early members of suburban generation x like Chris grew up not knowing their place in that fake world. - Generation X were born as of 1964 so yes Chris Cornell was Generation X - Boomers were 46-63, Gen X 64-81, Millennials 82-99, Gen Z 00-17, Alphas 18-35. Jan 1 46 to Dec 31 63 is 18 years - A Generation Jan 1 00 to Dec 31 17 in 18 years - It may look like 17 but you're counting the full year of 2000 and the full year of 2017.
RIP Chris, remember going to his best friend's house and I mention to my little Sister in law that my Ex-Husband (now) was super hype to be jamming with Chris Cornell...and she was hype... saying you know he is a big deal this is 2000... as an Island Girl didn't know who he was but he was a sweetheart... of course later on I come to love his music and especially AudioSlave...
4:07 Your look of dismay! 😂 Enjoyed watching your range of facial reactions throughout. But thank you for staying the course and not being distracted by the video … good thoughts.
Another great song around this era is Smashing Pumpkins "Mayonnaise" live version ua-cam.com/video/s7-30i1f5e0/v-deo.html One of Billy Corganʻs masterpieces along with the rest of the album and a nostalgic roadtrip song, 1979 ua-cam.com/video/4aeETEoNfOg/v-deo.html
Its a very well produced song, it kind of makes me link it to the production quility Metallica got on the black album, even i do know its way diffrent, just top notch production.. I think you could be right, this is about Chris and alcohol, i never thought of that actually.. like all people around him, dosent sing like him anymore, do he drown hes fears.. could be so..
He explains how this song came to him while driving (lyrics, arrangement, everything as we hear it) in an interview on Howard Stern. Then goes straight into an awesome acoustic performance of the song. Rock God!
He is just absolutely humble when he sings live or in studio, he just sings with joy, heart and emotion and is truly humble at how great he actually is!! And yes they are still touring, just hit Saskatoon, Saskatchewan about 2 weeks ago, as a nurse doing shift work couldn’t attend 😢
Chris Cornell has said that this song is sad, but had no real idea to get across. He wrote it in a stream of consciousness from something he misheard from a news anchor. He thought the anchor said "Black Hole Sun" when they really said something else, and he thought it was an amazing song title. The song was written around that misheard song title. You really have to look it up for yourself to get what he's truly saying, but I think when people hear this song, each one will interpret it a different way. The songwriter can tell you what the song is about, and the music fan will still choose to see it differently. "But see, what I think you meant, was..." R.I.P. Chris. I've been a Soundgarden friend since the early 90s. I was bummed when they broke up in '97 and excited when they reunited and started touring again.
I'm 61 and been stuck in the 70's and 80's music. My grandson is 16 and has introduced me to this genre of music. He'll say, you gotta listen to this. Thank you BP for doing the blind reactions, I've even started liking some country songs because of you!! God bless you!!❤
I loving listening to you try to interpret the lyrics, like we all did 30 years ago. I remember watching a video where someone asked him what was the song about. Now, he could have been completely messing with the asker, but he said it means nothing. They tried to pick the most bizarre phrases and threw the lyrics together. I couldn’t tell if he was being sarcastic or that’s really what they did. He just got real quiet after that and kind of bowed out of the conversation. Either way, I love it, and respect it. Miss him so much, still.
Seasons is another great song its one of his mellow songs. Every song on BadmotorFinger from Soundgarden is fantastic. I truly love all his acoustic songs and videos. Especially live. I cried so hard when he died. He left the world with incredible music. He is truly missed in the music world.
Soundgarden is one of the groups whose genre is debated. While they were initially greeted as a part of the rising Grunge genre, many in the heavy metal community place them squarely in the Stoner Metal genre. So, what is Stoner Metal? It is a subgenre of Doom Metal. Doom Metal exemplified by Black Sabbath is metal that slows the music down. Instead of speeding guitars you have a ponderous brontosaurs pounding along. Doom is also notable for being depressing hence the name Doom. As the name indicates while not required many of the bands focus on drug themes. Stoner Metal basically is Doom Metal that is too happy. Soundgarden is possibly the most widely known artist in this genre. Other artists to checkout: Sleep "Dopesmoker," Kyuss "Demon Cleaner," Bongzilla "Grim Reefer," and Church of Misery "Brother Bishop."
i remember the very day i heard this song. not the date lol but it was summer and i was home from school. it's been one of my favorite songs since i was in like 2nd grade.
I’m 36 when I was young me and my sister were scared of this music video…I liked the scare and love this channel thanks for watching all diff kinds of music🎉
Such a classic. I was around 13 years old when i first heard this. One of the biggest influences on my music tastes. This album is awesome. Spoonman, fell on black days, at my picks for next songs.
Chris Cornell is absolutely one of the best male vocalists of all time. You should also check out Soundgarden "Fell on Black Days". I'd like to see your reaction to Temple of the Dog "Say Hello 2 Heaven" live. Chris' vocals are insane in that one. He has been a part of many bands and did some amazing work solo. ❤
Of the meaning behind the song's lyrics, Cornell has said, “It's just sort of a surreal dreamscape, a weird, play-with-the-title kind of song. Cornell added, “lyrically it's probably the closest to me just playing with words for words' sake, of anything I've written.Jun 28, 2022
This video tripped a lot of people out. I truly love Chris' voice because it is so diverse.... *please, please* keep going on the deep dive of all of his projects. He had so many perspectives on a bunch of subjects. Don't get discouraged by titles either. *Some of the songs titles that may give a person pause are the songs with the deepest of meanings; and they do not mean what too many people tried to make them mean, no matter how hard they tried to make a rhombus fit into an acute triangle.*
Ya,thats what everyone thought the first time we watched this video too!!! 😂😂😂I recommend Rusty Cage,Outshined,& most other songs...spoon man is a trippy video as well.😂chris actually had an AWESOME vocal range and tone...he was an incredible singer.🎶❤✌
Found your channel about 3 hours ago and I’ve gotta say I’m digging it . Love the reaction videos from 60s 70s 80s and 90s … what a great time I had the pleasure of living . Best music era of all time . Nowadays you may get lucky to find a few artist , but back then there were 100s and 100s of amazing songs and bands ..
When I was younger, I used to get Soundgarden and Savage Garden confused, maybe because of their names and sounds. I mean, you would expect with a name like Savage Garden they would sound like Soundgarden did, and vice versa....
I love seeing you react to all the 90s music I loved as a teenager. Kind of asking these same lines...you have to check out Collective Soul. I love"December" by them. But they were super popular in this same time frame.
I did a comparative paper on this song and the book Pedro Paramo. 2 different languages but the exact same imagery. Cornell is quoted as saying he wrote this song after seeing the moon rock Seatle used to have. The song is more of a reflection of that experience.
NEVER another CHRIS CORNELL!! RIP, CHRIS!!! SO MANY great tunes this man leant his talent to...and, they're ALL SUPERB!!! I miss him: SO MUCH!! I still like COCHISE with Audioslave...and, the video that goes with it is: FIRE!! But ANY Soundgarden or Audioslave with Chris is a TRUE TREAT!!! ...and, usually VERY DEEP & DARK! They will truly make you think: FOR SURE!! HUGS!
"No one sings like you anymore."
RIP Chris
I thought the same.
Me too! Miss his voice! I want more! So beautiful!
Times are gone for honest men, sometimes far too long for snakes. Prophetic words indeed.
"Bro! What is going on in this music video!?" Is what we all said first time we watched it. If you continue down the Soundgarden rabbit hole I would suggest (if you haven't reacted to them yet), Rusty Cage, Outshined, Spoonman, and Fell On Black Days. Johnny Cash does a good cover of Rusty Cage.
Limo Wreck
And soooo good looking
Fell on Black Days is one of my all time favorite songs by anyone, and that says a lot!
Outshined outshined outshined ohh yeeaahhh
RIP Chris. One of a kind. Amazing voice and writer. Chris has said that the song came while driving home and hearing something about a black hole sun by the reporter. He was voted the best rock vocalist of all time because of his rage and sound. He was a magnificent artist! Very good person. Huge loss.
Exactly how I and many others would talk about him. Tragically sensitive. This world bully’s the sensitive.
It's like "everyone is fake and people suck. I'd be cool with our sun going black hole and wiping everyone out" kind of song.
this
Exactly. It's about that point in life we all reach, where, yeah, it's raining and it sucks but we lose sight of the fact it's only rain and we wish for a deliverance that has far more dire consequences than the rain.
I can't say a lot about my life, but I can say that I was the perfect age for this song to hit *exactly* like that when it came out.
Spoonman is one of my favorites!! for the most part I think you nailed the basic meaning behind this song. Fake people.
Number 1 for seven weeks. This was the number 1 song of 1994. Grunge had fully arrived
This was a great song but I remember the radio played it every 5 minutes so I just got tired of it.
Number one on rock radio not hot 100. Big difference. Still a dope song. My favorite by them.
#1 in Australia. Only for a week but still an achievement.
Then cobain died and then it left
Some of Chris' best vocals were with the band Temple of the Dog. Unbelievable album they put out in 1990.
It's great watching you discover Chris Cornell... lots of depth, lots of great music to enjoy. My favorite voice. The world feels diminished without him in it.
Fell on Black Days is one of the greatest Soundgarden songs! Even beyond that, its personally one of my favorite songs of all time both lyrically and sonically from any artist ... period.
Fell On Black Days would be the next port of call. Chris also has a couple of great acoustic versions where he really lets his voice rip.
Definitely, Fell on black days is always on my playlist.
His Fell On Black Days acoustic cover for SiriusXM was unbelievably good.
this song has a special place in my heart. it was what i was listening to when i realized i had a drug problem 25 year ago. i still remember that night vividly. i was way too under the influence, flipping through a book of aliens in fiction, this song was playing in the background, and i started staring at the wall, hallucinating, felt sick to my stomach and ran to the bathroom to go throw up. i remember hugging the toilet, slipping in and out of consciousness, worried i was going to die. for me, this song was the first step in my sobriety.
This video still holds up, even after the crazy innovations that CGI and other things have come around in the last few years.
Such a banger.
RIP Chris..Such a beautiful song. 🔥
Seems odd that the line goes, "Heaven sent hell away no one sings like you anymore" Aint that the damn truth! No one sings like Chris anymore.
I miss him

Must react to Chris Cornell "Say Hello to Heaven" from Temple of the Dog Live at the Moore Theater next.
Another prophetic thing is the album art to this album looks eerily like the first photo of a black hole 25 years later. Check it out. Soundgarden is tapped in, I tell ya.
Chris Cornell was like others that took thier life, very conscious of the world he lived in, deep and sensitive...having a hard time living in it
Totally agree, very sad

That is definitely a great one with Chris
U really can't go wrong with anything that Chris Cornell touches!! He definitely sits at the very top of my list of favorite male vocalists! This man is deeply missed!
He sang Billie Jean Acapella. It was beautiful. A must watch.
Hell ya! A must watch. Made me start to cover Billie Jean, kinda like Chris Cornell ✌️💙🎵

@@peegee4229 I hate to tell u this but most people equate taking their own lives to ending their suffering and put them out of their misery...
Some of the things chris himself said about this song was, that he was just "playing with words for words sake", "guess it worked for a lot of People but I have no idea how you'd begin to taken that one litteraly" and "i sure didnt have an understanding of it I was just sucked in by the music and tried to paint a picture with the lyrics’ there was no real idea to get across"
Also according to the band the video was entirely the directors idea, and at that point the only thing they wanted to do in videos was pretend to play and not look to excited about it.
Chris didn't take his life! He was taken out!
Take a listen to the pear jam/Soundgarden collab.. Temple of the Dog
RIP Chris, you are much loved by your fans
it's a Vibrating belt machine and was popular in the 1950's as gym workout. its a belt that goes around the wait and shakes.
This song is so f*cking great! RIP Chris. 🤘🏻❤️
Forgot to mention, he can sing in 8 Octaves. 👌
one of the all time great grunge songs! Trippy video! dbl ♥
You TOTALLY NEED TO hear his cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U"!!!
Here you go and thank you! Rapper FIRST time REACTION to Chris Cornell - "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince Cover)! BRUH!!!!

@@BlackPegasusRaps I saw that right after I dropped the comment! LMAO! 🤣
written by Chris Cornell, has a layered and open-ended meaning that invites various interpretations. It explores themes of disillusionment, concealed darkness, and the quest for individual liberation.
Rusty Cage, Spoonman are great Soundgarden songs! Chris Cornell then was with Audioslave, songs include I Am the Highway, Like A Stone. Check them out! Amazing!
I discovered this album in seventh grade. The early 90s, thanks Columbia House! Changed my life. 40!
P.S. You're five months older than me. 1980 was the best year to be born! 40!
You know what they say brilliance
Is the edge of insanity
This clip seems to show it
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Then I wrote the lyrics and that was similar, a stream of consciousness based on the feeling I got from the chorus and title" "
-
" "It's just sort of a surreal dreamscape, a weird, play-with-the-title kind of song" "
-
" "Lyrically it's probably the closest to me just playing with words for words' sake, of anything I've written. I guess it worked for a lot of people who heard it, but I have no idea how you'd begin to take that one literally." "

Which is all rather strange considering it seemed pretty obvious even at the time {I turned 18 in December 94} and absolutely certain now that this was a call for the World to End!
-
Generation X were born as of 1964 so yes Chris Cornell was Generation X - Boomers were 46-63, Gen X 64-81, Millennials 82-99, Gen Z 00-17, Alphas 18-35.
Jan 1 46 to Dec 31 63 is 18 years - A Generation
Jan 1 00 to Dec 31 17 in 18 years - It may look like 17 but you're counting the full year of 2000 and the full year of 2017.
Soundgarden is one of my favorite bands. They had some great songs! Spoonman and Fell on Black Days are bangers.
"Jane's Addiction" (been caught stealing) would be a good reaction
RIP Chris, remember going to his best friend's house and I mention to my little Sister in law that my Ex-Husband (now) was super hype to be jamming with Chris Cornell...and she was hype... saying you know he is a big deal this is 2000... as an Island Girl didn't know who he was but he was a sweetheart... of course later on I come to love his music and especially AudioSlave...
Such an amazing and distinct voice ❤️ RIP Chris ❤
4:07 Your look of dismay! 😂 Enjoyed watching your range of facial reactions throughout. But thank you for staying the course and not being distracted by the video … good thoughts.
And Chris did one of the best James Bond songs of all time😊
Hell yeah he did!
He also did Live to Rise for the Avengers 😊
He'll never beat Shirley Bassey! 😂👍
@@eggboundanddown9851 Yes, his song is one of the greatest, but no one beats Shirley, you’re right😉
@@mgnzmn9362 😂👌
Say Hello to Heaven really highlights how good his voice really is
Spoonman (Official video) from Soundgarden would be another great choice - feat. Artis the Spoonman playing the Spoons :)
"Times are gone for honest men" gave me chills long before I even knew what it meant. That whole effing album is deep.
I have always loved this song but I love the acoustic version even MORE!!!!!! ✌️💙🎵
He explains how this song came to him while driving (lyrics, arrangement, everything as we hear it) in an interview on Howard Stern. Then goes straight into an awesome acoustic performance of the song. Rock God!
He misheard some one saying something on the radio "Black hole sun" and used that to create the entire song, pretty amazing.
@@viracocha03that is what I remember too from one of his interviews
This video hit MTV when I was 10 and it scared the living bejesus out of me.
RIP Chris Cornel l 😭😭🩷🩷🩷what a great singer 🩷 you have to listen to more Soundgarden! Fell on black days, Spoonman, Outshined, just to name a few.
Yes! One of my favorites!🔥I miss his voice so much, one of the best voices in my book!
Another group u should checkout is CANDLEBOX.❤❤❤❤
Chris Cornell has said that this song is sad, but had no real idea to get across. He wrote it in a stream of consciousness from something he misheard from a news anchor. He thought the anchor said "Black Hole Sun" when they really said something else, and he thought it was an amazing song title. The song was written around that misheard song title. You really have to look it up for yourself to get what he's truly saying, but I think when people hear this song, each one will interpret it a different way. The songwriter can tell you what the song is about, and the music fan will still choose to see it differently. "But see, what I think you meant, was..."
R.I.P. Chris. I've been a Soundgarden friend since the early 90s. I was bummed when they broke up in '97 and excited when they reunited and started touring again.
One of their more lyrically brilliant, but often overlooked, songs that you’d probably like is Mind Riot.
🖤 this one is awesome 🖤
Rip Chris Cornell 🕯️🖤
Another great band to come out of Seattle, I remember this song well, 1994, Chris Cornell’s vocals were amazing may he RIP 🙏
I had this song on repeat & blasting, the day the orange monster got sworn in. Only thing that gave me comfort that horrible day, this and The Clash.
Many great songs in this album. Superunknown, spoonman. The day I tried to live, etc. masterpiece!
You should listen to Golden Earing - "Twilight Zone", it's a really wild song that holds up incredibly well in 2024. The 8 minute version is best.
Chills this gives me.Soundgarden Is Perfect.
i remember the very day i heard this song. not the date lol but it was summer and i was home from school. it's been one of my favorite songs since i was in like 2nd grade.
I’m 36 when I was young me and my sister were scared of this music video…I liked the scare and love this channel thanks for watching all diff kinds of music🎉
It's the beauty of music ... Art in general ... It's how it affects you that's important.
YESSSS We finally going down the chris cornell hole pls check out fell on black days by soundgarden
The loss of Chris was crushing. Still is.
Spoonman is my favorite soundgarden song. This is 2nd. My favorite song of all time is tomorrow silver chair.
Soundgarden, one of the Seattle Big Four; ALICE IN CHAINS, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA and PEARL JAM!
Audio slave is also one of his bands you really should check them out
This video tripped a lot of people out.
To be the man... you gotta beat the man. 💯 And NOBODY beats The Man! 💯
Remember this banger from 94....i was stationed at camp stanley in s korea.....man im gettin old
Found your channel about 3 hours ago and I’ve gotta say I’m digging it . Love the reaction videos from 60s 70s 80s and 90s … what a great time I had the pleasure of living . Best music era of all time . Nowadays you may get lucky to find a few artist , but back then there were 100s and 100s of amazing songs and bands ..
Loved this reaction, big hugs 🇸🇪
I am loving watching you fall down the rabbit hole that is my childhood soundtrack. They just don't make music like the 90s anymore.💜
This brings me back to my teenage years watching this on MTV
When I was younger, I used to get Soundgarden and Savage Garden confused, maybe because of their names and sounds. I mean, you would expect with a name like Savage Garden they would sound like Soundgarden did, and vice versa....
I love seeing you react to all the 90s music I loved as a teenager. Kind of asking these same lines...you have to check out Collective Soul. I love"December" by them. But they were super popular in this same time frame.
They have a lot of good songs when you're in a mellow mood. Good call.
HUGS!
