- Genesis is ready to change your mind about what to expect with a luxury SUV. The GV80 is the brand's first SUV and is packing a punch. Under the hood is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that pumping out 360HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.It's exterior features very unique brand styling including 22in wheels. The interior of the GV80 is meant to be an oasis for it's occupants. The level of fit and finish is extremely high along with the technology offered. Is the 2021 Genesis GV80 luxury SUV of the year?

I've had my G70 (in blue) for over a year now and people literally stop me at stop lights to take a look at it. One of the best purchases I've ever made!
Honestly the styling of this thing is so stunning you don't need the prestigious badge to make you feel special. You'd be a fool to spend 10 to 20 grand more for your typical Audi or BMW.. I think we are going to start seeing these things a lot
Hyundai, genesis, Kia is gonna take over. Watch them. They are doing everything right. Love them
As long as they can improve reliability. Hyundai is still working out some catastrophic engine issues. Even with that being said I really love my 2018 Elantra GT and I hope the engine last over 100,000 miles.
My cousin bought a brand new zero mileage Hyundai 5 years later it had every single problem you can possibly imagine

@@fraidycat7037 his engine started giving problems, transmission went out. Rack and pinion (one that turns the wheel very expensive) went out. He's damn car wheels would bend if he hits the potholes couple time like omg 🤦🏽♂️..... Many many more things fuck that

Maybe they can use some of that money they are making at Samsung and Hyundai to pay us back for the Military aid since 1953 . We have spent a fortune of US taxpayer money that could have been used right here in the US . Maybe our infrastructure wouldn't be crumbling right before our eyes.

Why should Samsung & Hyundai pay for US infrastructure? These are verifiable facts:
1) Since the end of the Cold War, the role of US military in S Korea has shifted primarily to check Chinese & Russian power in the region. Korean military is ranked #6 in the world. Korean economy is 40X larger & military budget over 100X that of N Korea. S Korea has the latest F-35 stealth fighters whereas N Korea has vintage Mig's.
2) S Korea is making almost $1B cash contribution toward US military - much more when including land lease and other non-cash expenses. S Korea has paid 90% of the new $11B US military base.
3) Trump claims $4.7B total cost of maintaining troops in S Korea & demanding $5B/year in compensation. S Korea believes that the US military's direct costs in Korea is about $1.2B/year. It is refusing to pay for indirect costs.
70% of Koreans oppose paying $5B/year to keep US military and 50% thinks US troops should leave. S Koreans can clearly defend themselves. Why not bring the troops home rather than turning them into hired guns?

Genesis has definitely leveled up the mark and is just making domestic brands look so cheap. They're going to sell boat loads of these.
Robert DeMilo It isn't necessarily making Lincoln look cheap unless you're talking about how some aspects of the interior that don't put it at the same level as the Aviator, Corsair, & Navigator but it was a refresh model. Lincoln SUVs come very close to to this GV80 actually

Jason HN disagree, the Genesis looks far nicer, I’m not a fan of Lincoln, I’m glad we don’t have them in the UK, with what genesis is putting out, an expansion into Europe would be very welcome.
Wow, the interior is nearly as upscale as Bentley, but I'm sure the Genesis will be more reliable.

You can buy nearly 3 of these for the price of a Bentley. I saw a picture of this suv in a matte pearl white. It was stunning!

Korean cars are the most unoriginal, most soulless cars to ever exist. This is literally just a Bentley, by an incredible Bentley designer. They're just European cars by European People. Has absolutely nothing to do with Koreans. Everyone who's saying "Oh this is the rise of the Koreans, Japan better watch out!" Needs to stop because it's nonsense. Most Japanese cars are designed by their own people and most technology is in-house.

They did the interior of the GV80 very similar to that of the Palisade. Love both of these luxury SUV’s! Beautiful cars. Nicely done Hyundai!

Pretty killer SUV, Mercedes has so many freaking variants of SUV's have no clue what to compare it to. I do know though Hyundai's drive assist software one of the best (excluding Tesla).

Raiti.. i thought the Aviator was going to be the replacement for my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit but I think this Genesis might get my money..
2021 there will be a brand new Grand Cherokee that should be built on the Alpha Stelvio platform. Might be worth waiting to see what's that's about.

1. You actually want to go off road and dont want a city slicker suv that cannot perform off pavement. (Trailhawk version)
2. You want the most powerful gasoline SUV produced (Trackahwk)
3. You want an affordable SUV with some off road capability (base 4wd model)

4:02 OMG Joe I remember this background of the Auto Show floor. This is were all of the Genesis R put at the Chicago Auto Show. I clearly remember in February 2018 I came straight from the 2019 Acura MDX A-Spec & then I saw the all new at that time Genesis G70.

Just like with Lexus 30 years ago, I feel like we’re all very lucky and maybe even privileged to be around as witnesses to the beginnings of a great car brand in Genesis. I hope maybe one day we can appreciate how we were there when the company was first starting out and making a name for itself.
In 10 years hyundai, kia and genesis will probably the biggest automaker in the world and all these badge snobs and haters will be made fools lol

Loved your video!. I have pre-ordered one and can't wait! You are the only one that I have seen that is in the USA that has been in one to review. I wish you could have done a test drive. I will be upgrading from the 2015 Genesis 3.0 pre-owned I purchased a few years ago. Time for an upgrade and this Is a no brainer. The 2015 Genesis 3.0 has an awesome ride and features. Any Genesis owners I have spoken with are so in love with the Genesis vehicles. One friend commented that he has had a BMW and a Mercedes and the Genesis 2015 3.0 is the best car he has ever owned! Let us know when you get to do a test drive. I am now a subscriber. Your reviews are thorough. Where you can land on price with the trim levels it is well worth the value for the enjoyment of a luxury SUV... now I sound like you. :-)

Joe, I'd like to suggest a BBQ place for you....Smoque BBQ 3800 N. Pulaski. Been going there since Jan 2008, almost 2 years before I moved here, been there over 60x's! Featured on the 2nd season of "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives", ITS ALL GOOD, you'll smell the "Smoque" when you open the door. Btw, nice neighborhood it's in, easy off, easy on the freeway too!

I am the opinion of that you should buy one as early as possible since the back log on this beautuful car in Korea might cause long lead time in the USA. It will be the same with the Huindai Pallisade.

Another GREAT review man!! After it's been out a year or so, and I can see the dependability rating, I might even change driving Lexus, to Genesis. But ONLY after the dependability ratings come out. Lexus is "TOP NOTCH", and is an amazing "TOP TIER" automotive brand.

I agree with you Elizabeth. I don't drive a car and stare at the steering wheel. As long as it's comfortable in my hands and the controls are easy to use, that's enough for me.
