It does use a similar engine, but transversely mounted and with less power. The GV80 is RWD with better fit and finish, completely different suspension, and much better materials and sound deadening with a better ride and handling. Oh, and completely different styling and an available third row. Also the Santa Fe isn't some bad car, but one of the best in the segment and can be equipped to the mid $40k range, so the GV80 Advanced isn't some huge leap in price. The freaking Explorer can cost over $60k, and a fancy "rebadged" Explorer (Aviator) can cost $90k...

I went to test drive. I luv the way CarPlay takes up 3/4 of the screen then your audio uses the other 1/4. perfect set up. a lot of things are played out nicely.
This is amazing, you just reviewed a GLA35 for the same price. Imagine someone getting the GLA just because of the badge, even though that’s an “economy” Mercedes

Nice touch with the TWINKIES... nice car in and out...but $54k... the competition (MDX, RX350, gx470, GLE350, and others) may be better choices... in the past kia/ genesis used to price their vehicles way less than the competition... it seems that they lost track of that
Honestly I think the new MDX will probably be the better buy. The base and advanced models get the previous models 290 horsepower V6 which I think was a very smart move by Acura. Even though the 2.5 4 cylinder puts out 300 horsepower, Mr. Rati as well as other reviewers have indicated that it is still a 4 cylinder and you can tell especially during hard acceleration. I think the variety of models that the MDX will be offered from the base to the A Spec to the Advance will be able to compete with the GV80 not to mention the MDX Type S upcoming that promises to offer good performance and handling........Bottom line not quite ready to crown the GV80 just yet until I see the new MDX models which should be available early next month.
It's in my opinion, the modern day vw touareg. Back when we bought mine it was $55 grand. Loaded with everything except the 3 zone climate control. This is honestly the first suv that I've considered giving up my touareg for.
I'm changing my stance until we see what caused the Tiger Woods wreck. I highly doubt it was vehicle related, but you never know when it comes to a completely new vehicle line. Besides, what I've seen of the GV70, I like it a little more.

Very nice but the big giant engine bay with a 4 banger pulling a 5000 pound SUV. They should just use the V6 and add the 5.0 V8. If I was to buy one I'd go with the 6. The MPGs probably aren't much different.
There's nothing here that isn't in the Calligraphy model of the Hyundai Palisade. While the exterior of the GV80 is great (except for that humongous grill) I think the Palisade Calligraphy's interior is nicer for less $$$. I'm not a fan of the iPad-style info touch screen displays that look like they're glued to the top of the dash. The Palisade's screen is integrated into the dash.
The Palisade Calligraphy (which is as top of the line as it gets) comes in around $50K. I doubt you'll find many GV80's on the lot for quite awhile and the models you'll find there won't be base models.
I dont like Audi Vw but BMW' and mercedes are nice but in Europe you see those on every corner on my naberthooth and on the streets.👎 this Genesis is gonne be more special for me i like koreans cars much more 👌 exclusive desigined

Beautiful vehicle. The grille is big, but tasteful.......unlike Lexus ridiculous grille. I agree with hiding the rear window wiper. Looks roomy inside.....and many Twinkie storage compartments. On throttle !!
@@RaitisRides Upon my recommendation, a friend pre-ordered a new 2020 G80 with the V6 twin-turbo. Despite its' long-in-tooth platform, he loves how it drives. Genesis' concierge service is fantastic! They've pick up his car at his office or home and left loaner vehicles for his use before returning his G80 after being serviced. I am unaware of any other mainstream luxury marque with a brick & mortar dealership network, that offers such VIP treatment. Infiniti used to do this in the '90s.
The grills have kind of had to get big since the lights are getting smaller. It's more about the design than the size now and I think Genesis has done a good job with the designs.

I guess if you need more space and a Palisade limited is not $54k unless you live in Canada.
