- FIRST DRIVE: The GV80 is getting some big changes from Genesis for 2025. On the outside you will notice and all new front fascia, Genesis badge, updated wheels and a color called Storr Green. On the inside you will be welcomed by an upgraded interior, Nappa leather and 27in of infotainment/digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that produces 375HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 the BEST new luxury midsize SUV to BUY?

I’m not the biggest Korean brand fan, but I’ll give Genesis credit on this one! Looks great. They’re the only auto maker that seems to make drastic changes year after year.
Agreed! The constant/ drastic change to me is a bit concerning. I get that car makers need to refresh and keep cars up to date but it shouldn't be as frequently as hyundai does. It's also evident their design language or features likely don't last or get dated quickly.

Exactly, but I’m not sure why this qualifies as a drastic change. It isn’t IMO. Good design doesn’t need frequent or drastic changes.

Joe, thanks for your great review! I think that you may be mistaken on the front armrest storage bin. That shallow top tray comes out and there’s tons of storage underneath the tray.

The paint…….New wheels……..Front fascia on the outside are an upgrade. The removing of the tailpipes is a downgrade although I suspect that it’s a preparation for the GV80 electric variation in that way they can use the rear bumpers for both models saving a manufacturing step.
The interior is definitely sumptuous but not a fan of the infotainment set up in general I do not like those endless screens that go the length of the vehicle. The glare on them in full sunlight is bad.
Nice vehicle but when it’s all said and done I’d still go with the MDX Type S. Definitely not as luxurious on the inside but that Luxo-sport style is still a winner. It has better performance……..Messaging Seats…….Air Suspension and a 30 speaker B&O sound system all for about $5-6K cheaper.

I am hearing some complaints about the driver seat comfort and that the seat is hard. Really liked my Jag FPace seats for 14 hour drives, but looking to move to the GV80 or GV80 Coupe. Any comments on seat comfort Joe?

My next new Genesis……although I may hold off for the Coupe’! Raiti’s, love your reviews always. Just 1 Snaffuu with this review though. You can lift the shallow shelf in the center front armrest, to expose a nice & deep storage compartment……….for your Twinkies or what floats your boat that day!😉😁. Keep up the great work and can’t wait for the Coupe review!
The most hilarious episode of the Snake Pit was when the Honky Tonk Man hit him repeatedly with his guitar. Allegedly, it was supposed to be a fake and break apart, but it was a real guitar. You have to watch the interview about it! lol! Great review as always. This interior is incredible!

I really like the grill design and the powertrain setup.
They did a great job with those.
That material on the dash and centre console is basalt weaving not wood.
Looks and feels much more nicer than the newspaper wood trim.

Beautiful car. Is Genesis still making the shifter flip into a crystal ball? It looks nice, but I'd be afraid if it ever breaks/jams.

That first layer in the center console is detachable to reveal more storage.

Check under that tray in the center console and you will find a lot more storage. 🙂
I think they leave the rear wiper there because they house the button to open the rear hatch in the base of the rear wiper. They'd have to find another place to put the hatch opening button that is hidden if they wanted to keep the same aesthetic.
They need to move it.
I believe that shallow part of the center console is just a tray and it's removable

I’d like to see this offered in a sport trim with the 400 hp hybrid 3.5tt, actual quad exhaust tips with a dual mode exhaust and brushed aluminum instead of chrome accents.
looks very nice - wondering how it will hold its value in 5 years time vs BMW x5?
probably not as much but, the only cars bought/kept for value are classics that are in shows or Mecum sale shows. Don't see many BMW's crossing the sales floor, even beemers lose value over time.
It looks great but what about reliability? Rumors say there are a lot of issues. Is it really worth the money and hassel of repairs?

Joe…just FYI…your ZonK on the armrest compartment size has a little catch, if you go back you will notice that top tray lifts up exposing a Grand Canyon size storage space…your not the first to miss this

Car play? One of the worse things of previous Gen was no wireless car play or android auto. I saw the phone projection option but the picture shows a phone being plugged in

I don't think the passenger has massaging seats. The button is missing and I only saw it on driver. 2024 model was the same way.

Great looking Suv. Joe, I fully respect that people seem to love Suv's, but they are not for me. I enjoy driving sedans and hatchbacks. They are fun to drive, but still practical. Maybe when my hips do not work, but until then, no suv for me.
