Let's see how many people are listening to this song in 2021-2024🙏🏻❤
Last year I was told that they were going to make it to work!
Dude, 2020 is over, you good? If you wanted to off yourself, that was a last year thing. This year, we deal.
I am🤘🍻
@Ronald Wood nah don't do that brother

7 years gone today. We are doing our best to honor your memory.
Still mad
My condolences. Stay blessed! God speed! ❤
Some will nvr know...😢
Chris Cornell was the best grunge singer you can't tell me he's not
I'm 71 and a child of the 60s. Many of my friends became convinced that music had died by the 80s and they never gave the 90s a chance. You could take Soundgarden and plop them down in the late 60s/early 70s beside Hendrix, The Who, Ten Years After, Steppenwolf, etc., and the fit would be seamless. I consider Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, STP, and Nirvana to be the artistic equals of my generation's best and I'm sad that nearly all my friends missed this boat.
Bro, heard of muse? It continues
Amen. I am nearly 50 now and loved all what you said and long live rock i hope it never dies.
Totally agree!!
@@chrisscoggins8998 Stop it, you're embarrassing yourself
And Pearl Jam!
"No one sings like you anymore." RIP Chris Cornell.
I'm completely Numb! Shocked! I don't want to believe he's gone!
J Miller Chris Cornell Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley revolutionized grunge music and now their in heaven
You forgot Scott Weiland and Eddie Vedder. STP and Pearl Jam were part of that revolution. Sadly Eddie is the last one alive.
Ian Thornley, lead singer of Big Wreck. Draws comparisons to Chris, but deserves to be called out for his own talent which includes lead guitar. Unbelievable talent, and because he's Canadian, not as well known. His talent as a vocalist is right up there with Chris, Vedder and the likes, and as a guitarist, well check him out and draw your own conclusions.
orignalREM I admit, when I read your post, I wanted to choke you for that comment, but I pride myself on being open-minded. I checked them out "albatross", definitely a strong similarity there. I get your comment now. I still say Chris has that buttery authenticity which reels pain and sadness from the depths.
''Fell On Black Days is the feeling of waking up one day and realizing you’re not happy with your life. Nothing happened, there was no emergency, no accident, you don’t know what happened. You were happy, and one day you just aren’t, and you have to try to figure that out''.
-Chris Cornell
Luis Angel Gonzalez I feel that bro

Sometimes still happens but controlling my Qi takes it away.
God I just love these songs from my youth though
Seriously, how did the 90's give us so many awesome rock vocalists?? Insane to me that Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland, and more were all around at the same time back then.
RIP the Great Layne and Chris rip Brothers.
Perfectly said ❤
But nobody now
The fact that most all are gone =🤯and I’m 60 now so to me at the time their music let me know the 1980s was over
Did anybody understand what Eddie Vedder was singing about? I thought he was a weak singer, Layne and Cornell are leagues above him.

Right there with you brother...
Wow 30 days is huge congrats the hardest part is behind you keep walking towards the light ❤️
The first song I ever fell in love with was a Soundgarden song. It was crazy an African American kid from the hood falling in love with rock. This was the early early 90s. It was practically unheard of. The reaction I got from my friends and family was crazy. All because my mind is open
I can relate.
The white delegation accepts you.
To me not at all crazy simply lovely. We need more open minds in this world. May you never close yours. Social norms, friends, family and communities can often consider outside the box thinking as crazy. Some of our greatest artists, inventors, and visionaries were considered crazy and maybe some were. Ultimately I believe we all benefited from their contributions and free thinking ✌️🎶
Keep exploring. There's so much great music out there...

Soundgarden and Alice in Chains were THE soundtrack to my teen years. I'm just utterly gutted I've lost Layne and Chris even to this day.
Layne's death hit me hard because he carried me through a lot and he was always my main vocal influence outside of Beth Gibbons. Layne's death put me in a dark place. But I was always wretchedly in love with Chris. I was like, "Chris has it figured out. He is a god among men. He is supernatural and eternal. He will never die except of old age." He gave me purpose. He gave me power. He was the thing that inspired me, day in and day out. Everybody I knew was aware of what he meant to me.
And then one day on the morning of May 18, 2017 I got a call from one of my best friends. "Janine, please sit down. Some fucked up shit happened last night." "What happened?!?!?! SPIT IT OUT!" "........... ............. Chris Cornell died last night."
"You're playing a prank on me. You're a fucking asshole. Good joke and fuck off."
"No, Janine, he died. I am so fucking sorry. Look it up. I am so fucking sorry."
"YOU'RE FUCKING LYING! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EVEN SAYING! YOU'RE A LIAR!!!!!!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME????!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I wept tears of blood for months after and am weeping as I write this right now. I remember it like it was yesterday. I will never recover.
Don’t do drugs kids

"'Fell on Black Days' was like this ongoing fear I've had for years ... It's a feeling that everyone gets. You're happy with your life, everything's going well, things are exciting-when all of a sudden you realize you're unhappy in the extreme, to the point of being really, really scared. There's no particular event you can pin the feeling down to, it's just that you realize one day that everything in your life is fucked." - Chris Cornell

Me too. Absolute perfection. I caught him on the Lollapalooza tour in Massachusetts. He was AMAZING. ❤
Absolutely, one of the top 3 voices of all time in my opinion!!
I used to say Paul Rogers of Bad Company had the best voice in rock until I heard Cornell with Soundgarden. His range and emotion won’t be duplicated for some time. The covers he did in his last few years were some of the best.
Everything about this song is amazing. Drums pounding, hypnotic bass groove, fuzzed and clean guitar. The lyrics, the feel, the sound, and Cornell's soul.❤

I'm older than you guys.. Soundgarden is my favorite rock band of the last 35 years. If not 40. I won't go through all the great 60s to 70s bands I saw live. I saw Soundgardent live twice. The first time was when Down on the Upside had been released and they were basically on their farewell tour. Incredible show. Many years later when they got back together, I saw them live again with my daughter, who was now old enough to appreciate the band. Chris Cornell was surely one of the greates rock stars of all time. . . and I love this song.
Thanks for sharing that story. Hard to believe that going back 40 years is only 1983!
I could be 200 years old this will still be my favorite singer/songwriter of all time.
Afortunados quienes viven en países donde estás agrupaciones daban giras constantes, en Sudamérica venían muy poco.
Sympatico, brother. I was 20 when Pink Floyd released DSOTM. Soundgarden, Nirvana, STP and Alice in Chains see way more play in this house than Hendrix, ELP, Tull, and King Crimson do. One of the main attractions of rock was the never-ending flow of new sounds. After humping the same music for decade after decade...what's left? Gotta find something new and grunge filled the bill perfectly.

Cornell had absolutely EVERYTHING: talent, vulnerability, volume, extension, range, mastery and a lot of technique.
He could write songs like no one else, sing them in a way that no one else could, one of the greatest voices not only in rock, but in the history of music.
He was a legend, one of today's most sensitive and dedicated artists.
Hi I Recommend a Song called 'the bond villain' By Robert Nix
Darkness always haunts the creative, the gifted, the genius; the darkness seems to be the price that must be paid for being born special...
Rest in peace, brother. You were and will remain one of the greatest voices, greatest writers, greatest musicians of our generation and you'll remain one of the greatest for generations to come.
Billy Stewart beautifully said. you could see it in their eyes. they are irreplaceable.
Billy Stewart
i agree
Billy Stewart - You must be gifted as well, because it takes one to know one. The tragedy is most geniuses will never be heard.
Joe Dennis
Yeah, I've been a tortured soul since childhood. I certainly don't mean to seem pompous or arrogant, but you nailed it. It's understandable for me to see that fame can slowly crush the gift and make the desire to escape... it (there is no valid description of the darkness), so attractive.
Music and writing have always been... easy, but tortuous. Having synesthesia, though it's very cool with the colors I see through music, has definitely added to the darkness in the past and made the small seemingly insurmountable. But I've learned to recognize and use the synesthesia to my advantage, especially in music and math, in the past 10-15 years.
And you are absolutely right about which voices and messages are heard; I don't even bother anymore... The grass is always greener, right? Ignorance is bliss is an idiom I've longed to espouse...
Billy Stewart - Absolutely crazy this World is.
Here's to ya Billy boy 🍺
R.I.P. Chris. Black Day for sure.

Just when every day seemed to greet me with a smile
Sunspots have faded, now I'm doin' time, now I'm doin' time
[Chorus]
'Cause I fell on black days
I fell on black days
[Verse 2]
Whomsoever I've cured, I've sickened now
And whomsoever I've cradled, I've put you down
I'm a searchlight soul, they say, but I can't see it in the night
I'm only faking, when I get it right, when I get it right
Sampa The Great 'Let Me Be Great' (Live Performance) | Open Mic
Sampa The Great 'Let Me Be Great' (Live Performance) | Open Mic
[Chorus]
'Cause I fell on black days
I fell on black days
[Post-Chorus]
How would I know that this could be my fate?
How would I know that this could be my fate?
Ooooo, ooooo, oooo
[Verse 3]
So what you wanted to see good has made you blind
And what you wanted to be yours has made it mine
So don't you lock up somethin' that you wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking, no, not tying, no, not tying
[Bridge]
I sure don't mind a change
I sure don't mind a change
Yeah, sure don't mind, sure don't mind a change
I sure don't mind a change
[Chorus]
'Cause I fell on black days
I fell on black days
[Post-Chorus]
How would I know that this could be my fate?
How would I know that this could be my fate?
How would I know that this could be my fate?
How would I know that this could be my fate?
Thanks 🤘
I sure don't mind the change
Very nicely done thanks!
Soundtrack of my youth. Grunge was the last great period of rock music. You surely will be missed, Chris.
To anyone who may be feeling this way: talk to someone. There's always hope. Kurt, Layne, now Chris. Doesn't have to happen like this.
JaQuicker Scott, Mike, Shannon, Ben, Mia, Jennifer, Kirsten... all reunited forever
JaQuicker I agree cuz your only hurting the ones you love
JaQuicker He took an extra anxiety pill. Something that was supposed to help him killed him. Just one extra pill can come with major consicuinces and cause suicidal thoughts or actions. He probably just forgot and took another one. His wife talked to him minutes before and he told her what he did so she called a friend that was in Detroit with him to check on him. By the time the friend got there Chris was dead.
That for real? I fucking hate pharmaceutical companies. We could cure addiction if it weren't so damn profitable.
Y'know....whenever these tragedies occur....it makes me hope that progressively society will be more welcoming/able to help those with depression or in a 'black day'. Suicide or something similar to it (like with pharmeceuticals....think back to Michael Jackson or...Chris...well now Chris) is such a horrible thing to occur...yet it seems that the world/media sort of pushes away and moves on after a musical great or any other famous person took their life. This is likely because yknow....they gotta move on, but by doing this...it seems like we don't necessarily take the right steps to prevent depression or suicide in others. Sure, we have Kids Help Phone, or certain social services...but it take a lot for someone to admit their depressed and act on solving their depressive state. Heck....I was depressed 4 years ago...and it took atleast over a year for me to fully get out of it and be truly happy. Now, I'm a happy and fun kind of person. Though in some cases, like my friends....depression can be much more powerful and lethal....especially since my friend in question was constantly being bullied and picked on (even her boyfriend picked on her...eventually dumping her)....and I guess one day she couldn't take it and attempted to take her life. She....passed away a few days later after she couldn't be saved in a hospital.
It sucks to see these kind of things in the news when we lose someone great like Chris or Kurt or Jon Lee, because if you've known a friend or someone close that also took their life...it kinda messes with you and reminds you of that person, makes you feel a lot more empathy than someone who hasn't gone through the grief of something tragic like that.
Now I'll admit....I never really got into Soundgarden, but the few songs I listened to from them made me aware that this was a great band....with an astounding vocalist and a great team. Idk....I always kind of pushed myself into other bands, partly because by the time I started to get myself interested into Soundgarden....it just reminded me sometimes of earlier times when my friend was happier and alive.
This song is a masterpiece it explains chronic depression word by word and what it feels like-like no song ever written 💔💔💔
What a funking great loss for us all. A damn SHAME to loose Chris and many many others who should still be here with us all. ENDURING IT.
Met you about 7-8 years ago through Steve Lillywhite the producer of "Carry On". We saw you in Chicago at a small venue, then Steve arranged for my children and I to see your show and meet you afterward. In person, you were so enigmatic and paid a lot of attention to my children. You don't know it but ever since two of my children met you, two of them became luthiers (guitar builders), self taught guitar players and music writers. My eldest son became the youngest employee in Fender's history and is now a Senior Model Maker at 25. My daughter has gone the direction of sound engineer (Steve Lillywhite influence). My children grew up with you and your amazing talent. Thank you and God Bless you for your amazing life. I really don't believe you would harm yourself under any circumstances. It wasn't the light I saw in your eyes. You had way too much to value and lose. Thank you for the influence you had in MY children.
Spinderella 360 GREAT story, THANKS FOR SHARING AND I AGREE, no way DID HE take his own life, I'm sure we will find out 1 DAY WHAT happened RIP BROTHER CHRIS
Spinderella 360
wow, that's super cool.
how lucky you are to jave met Chris.
I saw Sound Garden once in Adelaide and was/ still am stoked to be able to say I've seen him live.
my wife is pregnant with our first and I guarantee our child will grow up listening to Chris Cornell.
Spinderella 360
is a beautiful testimonial of life..indeed.
Great story. That's the power of music..Thanks for sharing.
Yes Derek, the power of music and a power of a great person and a great artist.
They were on some next level shit when they made this album. There will never be another band like Soundgarden.
Pure, natural and unadulterated symbiosis... Each making the others talents evident on all levels. All planets aligned right here!
Well put ma brotha!!
Straight next level shit when this came out Nothing ever like it before....nothing like it since.
The best to do it.
True, this album was flawless and changed the rock scene for GOOD!
Tool is a better band but Nothing Compares To You CC
@@nigel_8076 Get outta here with that. No band other than Tool could write an album like Aenima or Lateralus. What Tool does is damn near transcendent.
God I wish there were bands like this still.
Hi I Recommend a Song called 'the bond villain' By Robert Nix
There sure are!
Voice of an angel. Tormented by demons. I miss you brother.
RIP Chris on your 4th death anniversary! I cannot believe it has already been 4 years since you left us! No one will EVER sing like you!! Say Hello to Heaven Chris from all of us still alive missing you!!!
😔😪❤
nobody can sing like Cornell.
However one time he kicked my teenage friend in the ribs when she got thrown on stage. She had to go to the hospital with broken ribs thanks to that jerk.
Great voice but questionable attitutude.
Yeah he was awesome
No one sings like you anymore
Chris Cornell is my all-time favourite. His voice is Heavenly.
Big wreck....not grunge but perhaps the most underrated musician in the history of rock: Ian Thornley...who can sing like Robert plant/Cornell and play guitar like Eddie van halen
@Hunter Vonnegut gonna have to sell it harder than that pal.
Just so awe ispiring🔥🤘🏻❤🖤
It’s more like hellish now after he hung himself and went to hell
I love the way that Kim Thayil's lead guitar work melds into the "body" of the song and isn't really him soloing.
Chris Cornell was more than an incredible vocalist. He wrote some of most profound and meaningful lyrics.
My God, Chris. You, Layne and Scott kept me alive in the 90's and you're all gone now. Rest in peace you beautiful talented man. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tina Reggie iterates how powerful addition and poor mental health can grab a hold of not only singers but many who experience the same without the daunting and unrelenting public eye.
Tina Reggie Definitely
Someone protect Vedder!
Layne and Chris for me. I can't believe this.
alex reinhardt I thought of Vedder after I heard the news and watched Hunger Strike live....so sad...
So Saddened at the news of Chris Cornell's death last night. :( He will be missed...May he Rest In Peace. Damn..way too young. :(
Nah, he's not resting he's rocking.
MagaMan X where did you hear it?
I remember i found a Soundgarden CD as a kid playing in the middle of the street in Long Beach. I took it home and played it. Ever since then I was so fucking hooked on the whole Grunge Genre but Chris Cornell brought a different type of vibe and feeling through his music and voice. It feels more surreal than the other bands. Like, he's speaking to you directly. I was in highschool when he passed away and I was so sad i never got to see them play. But, I still have all the memories I have blasting this music during MMA training or those cool summer days at the beach or by the pool. Hanging out with your friends smoking weed and skating in sunny LA. Thank you for all the beautiful days and God Bless the rest of them. 🇺🇸☀️🌴
the face expressions on Chris's face say enough. We miss you
Miss him sooo much
His face say much more than enough 🖤🖤🔥🔥
R.I.P CHRIS. Thank you for providing a soundscape for a lot of my childhood and into my adult life. You will be missed.
"Chis" ...
TheBlarggle way to go man only 3 million more internet typos to go before you catch them all
Chis would be proud
Feel the same
rip chis, forever
So crazy because nobody listens to this as a warning… Just a beautiful melody
As a warning? He clearly sings “ how would I know that this could be my fate” none of us know.. he didn’t know.
This is my suicide feelings song so yes, a warning but also I use it as a mental health awareness song. Can’t thank them enough for these words on my darkest days. 🙏
Its the theme of my life.
Died twice and still alive.
So sick of everything.
Everyone...
I just want the dark calm of sleep.
I miss my Brother.
dude i had like the wettest fart after reading this
@@AHabitualUser I know what you mean. You probably think I don't, but I lost my brother too and he was the best person on this planet. I died too many times now. Whatever happens in this life, I hope you can find peace.
These are the most relatable and mystical lyrics ever written.
Soundgarden was one of the greatest groups that ever existed.
For everyone who was in their Teens & 20's in the 1990's... Nirvana was our Beatles, Pearl Jam was our Stones, StoneTemple Pilots was our Doors and Soundgarden was our Led Zeppelin... Long Live Generation X!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and Alice in Chains was our Sabbath
+Brian Peppers Definitely! I'd also say that Red Hot Chili Peppers was our the Who and that Jane's Addiction was like our Kinks... Generation X had Absolutely Great Music!
Nicely written. I was a teen in the 90s but I did not like the "grunge thing". Soundgarden was pretty much the only band I could listen to of that lot.
I'd say Tool was King Crimson, Manson > Bowie, NIN was the Doors and Radiohead was the Beatles but Yeah Nirvana was a good pick too. Thought I don't get the STP > Doors Thing.
+Ron STP like the Doors had a great Frontman who died young because he thought needed to be high to be creative. John spoke for the 60's and Kurt spoke for the 90's. Both died from gunshots. John had Paul carry on and blossom and grow his own music. Kurt had David Grohl as the Paul McCartney of our Generation. Marilyn Manson is more like our Alice Cooper.
This song is about being happy one day and then all of a sudden falling
into a depression. If you are feeling depressed right now, just know
that everyone goes through it and even though it may not seem like it,
brighter days will come. Stay strong.
Youre right!
Thanks man
❤️
yes
unfortunetly you have to go through hell on this planet to get to heaven...thats the way its setup folks...tough it out...don't give up...its all worth it in the end...its all a simple game if you can figure it out before its too late...
This song helped me through some very dark places… 👊
When I was 15 my family abandoned me, I went to live in a hostel. I couldn’t work legally as 16 was the age that you got your National Insurance card and you could pay tax.
The government assistance would only help those over 18. I managed to get a ‘crisis’ payment of £50 a fortnight. Instead of buying food or clothes I would run to the library and rent cassette tapes. I would re-rent Soudgarden’s album every month and I would rewind this song continuously, I wore the tape out.
It comforted me at the bleakest time in my life.
Now that I’m much older and I’ve made a loving life for myself I still sing this and feel full of gratitude.
Chris Cornell was a true hero.
MAY 18, 2017 one of the blackest days. R.I.P.

Absolutely
Great grunge Rock/Metal band . I still love their songs/musics on 25-2-2024
Not sure there’s a song that speaks to you the way this one does, for times when you experience struggles, obstacles, or unnecessary heartache. Encapsulates that inner fury, contempt, disgust, guilt, sorrow or self-loathing.
What a great time for music. Take me back. I'll warn everyone of the hell that's to come while I'm there.
chris cornell was incredible
@@jasonbates2687 he was
Actually the 80s was the years for music....90 to 96/7.....this was the last years of great music.....but...is crazy that most of the bands of 90 to 97 or so....they all death...except for eddie Vedder from pearl jam..and the s.pumpkins
Problem is nobody will listen.
There's still plenty of great music being made
RIP Chris.
You helped many of us through hard times, we played your music as we partied, drove down the street, and hung with friends. We will continue to play your music and think of you and your band mates in Soundgarden.
-A Faithful Fan
The 5th Danger amen. this cut got me through so many tough times. To know someone wrote this song that echoed my own unexpressed feelings...made this, probably my favorite song of his and SG. Glad to know that I'm not alone.
I love Sound Garden and Audio Slave. Chris Cornell was so damn talented. And he was so, so, so damn handsome and humble. Chris was so intelligent. Depression and addiction are horrible disorders. I wish he was still here. He and Chester are two of my favorite singers!
So who's all here listening still in 2023-2024
Yes
In ' 24 too!
☝️😊

It was really a Black Day when we lost you!RIP Chris
@Giovanni Marrero It was really sad that he mad suicide..
It sure was . . .
@Giovanni Marrero thank you. I think some people like talking about depression and suicide and it's sick. Sick sheeple talk, and maybe you save one sheeple a day because of your comment❤
@@sandrajovic9304 I think its a sad theme ... but sometimes it helps to talk about when you have good friends .. Im sure
