He and Chris were roommates at the time. An experiance I'll never forget.

I got blessed with one ticket and a backstage pass to see Soundgarden at Universal Amphitheater 12/2/96 on my Birthday- I’ll never forget it. This tune brings back so many memories. I think this band will be treasured for eons after we’re all gone. They’re that good in my opinion. RIP Chris. ☮️

I was very fortunate to meet Chris before he passed, and I was lucky to talk to him for a while! He answered all the questions I wanted to know, and we talked about Soundgarden, his solo albums, Audioslave, and the recent reunion of temple of the dog. He was super kind, and signed a bunch of things for me. I also got one of his guitar pics! I brought Audioslaves self titled vinyl in to get him to sign, and he was super excited to see the vinyl. I told him how big of an inspiration he was to me, and how much his music meant to me. I was very nervous before meeting him, but as soon as I did I wasn’t nervous at all. He was just a regular down to earth laid back guy, and was so cool to me. I met him before his last concert on the Higher Truth tour. I lucked out and got a meet n greet with him before his set. The coolest part of the night for me was when he walked out on stage and looked into the audience. He saw me in row 2 on the floor, and looked at me and smiled and pointed at me. He instantly recognized me after just meeting him of course, so that was very cool and such an awesome moment in my life. Thanks For all the great memories Chris. I will cherish your music forever! What a True gentleman, and it was such an honour getting to meet my hero.

A huge driver for that was small clubs and underground venues, they built those bands and the audiences that grew around them. Nowadays most of those clubs are long gone...

For real… Take my advice, if you're still young, don't worry about the money, the name, or wasting your time on people who don't love you back. Because, the time really does slip by incredibly fast. I would say the R&R Hall of fame would be cool but its also overrated. It's all subjective time and time again and whoever votes them in are a bunch of hipsters & hipocrats. I looked again quick to confirm but here's a list of other bands that should obviously be in there too, but aren't. So again...it truly doesn't mean jack squat and SG doesn't need that validation. Foghat, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Pantera, and gotta throw in Iron Maiden & Slayer who are all not in the inconsistent hall of fame.

There is a wonderful support group for this i found on facebook --it's called chris cornell/soundgarden forever. Everyone there is super nice. Its a closed groups so no trolls, once you are accepted you'll see it is very supportive.
This song is really neat. It makes me feel neat. The tuning of the guitar is crazy, the vocals are great, lyrics are really cool..., It brings me down... but then rubs my back until I feel better.
FYI - the tuning is not "crazy." It is "open-c:" C-G-C-G-C-E. Very common. Pretty Noose is also in open-c. Just a word to the wise. Not trying to be an asshole. If you're curious just google it.

September 1996 - Freshman in high school. I hung with the older kids and smoked grass constantly. There were always a few pads where we could hang after getting stoned in the woods. I remember sitting on a couch in one of them, zoned out, watching this video. I liked it. I liked it a lot. In 96 we were introduced to most music through MTV (taking it for granted, thinking it had always been that way and it would always stay that way. Little did I know - like the VCR and video store - it just blew up like '82 and it would be dead in about six years). Soundgarden was huge in 94=95 and this was the first tune off their new album. As a burnt out teen who gave a fuck about nothing, this was cool. I was totally content with the content the mass media and pop culture were feeding me. This song struck me. Chris Cornell's vocals reached the highest levels I'd ever heard in mainstream music. This wasn't even raw - it was polished and perfect. Ethereal. There was no identifying with it, like we did with Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley, thinking maybe, someday we could do what they did. No. This voice was just like WOW. You were to listen and dig. Sad to hear of your passing Chris Cornell. You left behind some awesome music and it will live on. RIP brother.

I don't think he was ever diagnosed with anything, but the theme of "being a burden" was always prevalent in his lyrics. I have had some days where I felt the same, but it passes. You must reach out when you feel this way. I am lucky to have a great support network and am able to identify the onset of these feelings. I never took it seriously until one whole week it nearly drove me past whatever happens after insomnia. Deep bouts of depression should be taken seriously. Thank you Chris for your lyrics that provide solace in times of despair. You will be deeply missed.
Sounds like you've had your share and then some. I've never been as low as u have but I've been on Prozac and elavil for years and it's been what's helped me. I sincerely hope u get better cause nobody should have to live in that state of mind cause it's an ugly place. Good luck to u.

I told him how big of an inspiration he was to me, and how much his music meant to me. I was very nervous before meeting him, but as soon as I did I wasn’t nervous at all. He was just a regular down to earth laid back guy, and was so cool to me. I met him before his last concert on the Higher Truth tour. I lucked out and got a meet n greet with him before his set. The coolest part of the night for me was when he walked out on stage and looked into the audience. He saw me in row 2 on the floor, and looked at me and smiled and pointed at me. He instantly recognized me after just meeting him of course, so that was very cool and such an awesome moment in my life. Thanks For all the great memories Chris. I will cherish your music forever! What a True gentleman, and it was such an honour getting to meet my hero.

I looked again quick to confirm but here's a list of other bands that should obviously be in there too, but aren't. So again...it truly doesn't mean jack squat and SG doesn't need that validation. Foghat, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Pantera, and gotta throw in Iron Maiden & Slayer who are all not in the inconsistent hall of fame.

FYI - the tuning is not "crazy." It is "open-c:" C-G-C-G-C-E. Very common. Pretty Noose is also in open-c. Just a word to the wise. Not trying to be an asshole. If you're curious just google it.

September 1996 - Freshman in high school. I hung with the older kids and smoked grass constantly. There were always a few pads where we could hang after getting stoned in the woods. I remember sitting on a couch in one of them, zoned out, watching this video. I liked it. I liked it a lot. In 96 we were introduced to most music through MTV (taking it for granted, thinking it had always been that way and it would always stay that way. Little did I know - like the VCR and video store - it just blew up like '82 and it would be dead in about six years). Soundgarden was huge in 94=95 and this was the first tune off their new album. As a burnt out teen who gave a fuck about nothing, this was cool. I was totally content with the content the mass media and pop culture were feeding me.
This song struck me. Chris Cornell's vocals reached the highest levels I'd ever heard in mainstream music. This wasn't even raw - it was polished and perfect. Ethereal. There was no identifying with it, like we did with Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley, thinking maybe, someday we could do what they did. No. This voice was just like WOW. You were to listen and dig.

- I’ve been making Warzone parodies for about 6 months. Recently decided to switch it up. Hopefully this song doesn’t offend you. I TRULY love EVERY WORD of the original song. It’s a masterpiece. My song is for fun. Also, I talk about God in the song. It’s not the Bible God. I had a giant eye appear before me sober in a sensory deprivation tank. It was life changing. I love that Cornell was so prolific in his short time on Earth. We all need a lifetime supply of this level of awesome.
Cornell possesed a one in a billion voice. We are lucky, so lucky that he learned to sing and fell in with the right crews.
I don't think he was ever diagnosed with anything, but the theme of "being a burden" was always prevalent in his lyrics. I have had some days where I felt the same, but it passes. You must reach out when you feel this way. I am lucky to have a great support network and am able to identify the onset of these feelings. I never took it seriously until one whole week it nearly drove me past whatever happens after insomnia. Deep bouts of depression should be taken seriously. Thank you Chris for your lyrics that provide solace in times of despair. You will be deeply missed.
Sounds like you've had your share and then some. I've never been as low as u have but I've been on Prozac and elavil for years and it's been what's helped me. I sincerely hope u get better cause nobody should have to live in that state of mind cause it's an ugly place. Good luck to u.
He had a prescription for psychiatric medication apparently, so he was definitely diagnosed with something- doctors don't prescribe these pills without a diagnosis.
