You are so right. I am 66 and would be lost without my ESA kitty 💝 How I wish Senior Care centers would allow live-in pets. Or maybe just a few that would be mascots. I wonder if some high-end senior places have this life affirming issue in place. IDK. But it breaks my heart when people are separated from their pets.
Twink always sat on or beside me on "our" chair, except when she was upset. At first, I always thought she was mad at me, but as we got used to each other, I realized there was a difference in looks when she sat away from me. When she actually looked at me, she was concerned about me. She could sense I was sad or not feeling well and wanted to give me some space. My feelings were too intense for her. She had to wait a bit for me to calm down before she could come sit with me to help me. When she was the one who was upset and needed the space, she would curl up with her back to me. When she was ready to accept help, she would uncurl and then meow for me to come to her or she would come to me for rubs and love. She was the most amazing cat. I had never had I had such a connection to. But then all of our other cats were indoor/outdoor cats, living half in and out. The only cat that came close to Twink was Chloe. My sophomore year in high school I had to spend 6 months in a body cast to correct a cuvature of the spine. Chloe stayed on my bed all day long except for brief potty breaks or when I was eating, she went to eat too. If she didn't like someone, she wouldn't let them in my room. My geometry teacher got as far as the door jam, and she stood there and growled at him. If he tried to force his way past her, she slashed at his leg. He learned fast not to try. He was a nasty teacher. She had him dead on. Once I was out of the big cast and in a smaller cast, she would walk beside me when I was allowed outside. And if I was out too long (in her opinion) she would block my way if I didn't go home. I guess I have been blessed to have cats that have been very communicative, in different ways, in different situations, all to our benefit.
Bless your heart and thank you for sharing your kitty experiences. I believe cats in general, like your precious Chloe, are excellent barometers of a person's character. Nothing comes close to having the kind of connections that you've experienced with your cats. God bless ❤🙏😸
My 1st cat when I was 4 was a huge black alley cat. When I made him mad i had to watch out for him. He would chase me down and bite me. Luckily there was never any skin breakage. In my 30's I had a gray and white girl. She would get made at me because 1. I either worked a lot of overtime or I would be gone for the weekend. I'd come home having to search for what she had gotten into in her moments of anger. She usually got into the kitchen drawers. Yes she was quite clever about getting into them and she would scatter stuff all over the floor. I miss having a cat. Its been 6 months since my last boy crossed the 🌈 bridge. I do keep thinking about fostering as I'm 65 and don't want to take on one because what would happen to them if something happened to me. Sigh
We are in our early 70's & just adopted a 6 year old girl in March, 2024. Her owner went into a nursing home so they had to give her up. She's so funny & entertaining.
Mine destroys the plants, and will actually hide stuff on me like socks etc. But like saying, only when been away for a while. Think goes thru motions of "hes late, no hes abandoned me...well...f him then lets get destructive!" then falls asleep and wakes up to me at the door xD
I think it's important to differentiate between anger and a cat's usual habits . My 2 yr old female cat is not a cuddler and she likes to be alone if she's sleeping deeply, this is totally normal for her . She will take herself off for 4-5 hours to sleep in another room then come looking for me for playtime and treats. I know she's fine with me because it happens every day at the same time, it's just her routine. She will even come and get me and show me that she's going to bed, it's very endearing.
ya mines like that too. He has started hoping on the bed occasionally at night though (Scared crap outta me first time, actually wondered if he was feeling well xD), but thats largely to hunt the foot and leg monsters under the covers and if I move too much, or disrupt his royal highness's patch of bed(usually right where I kinda need to lay to be comfortable lol), nope off he goes to his bed on the side. During day when he does his naps, ya kinda cute cos be chilling beside me, bringing toys over to play with etc if im on the comp, hopping right up in my face on the desk, the usual, but when its nap time? Unless im super quiet, nah he gives me the stink eye and shuffles off to another room xD
Yes, exactly, sometimes cats need to retreat to their sanctuary to piece their emotions together. You know, like when Superman retreating to the fortress of solitude. Except they're the superbabies we love. When I see a cat in a seemingly bad mood (not necessarily because of me) I give them space. I unconditionally shower them with love when they're ready and engage me. I understand them, because it's how I am myself, sometimes angry at change and wanting peace.
Try this next time, and maybe my bro just used to it, but do "head bos" put hands to sides and like just behind head right down so they can do a head rub pass right. Whenever my buddy seems like mad or feeling down, I jsut go "head bos!" and like can tell when hes mad, cos happy? comes up right away. Mad? he'll stare me down for a bit but just see his will eroding with each passing second...he cannot resist the head bo's, and cos its actually how cats communicate (they dont really meow to each other, thats for us) I think it makes him feel better, or at least that I'm paying attention to him. But all the same, totally not wrong to just leave them alone at times, cos ya theyre like us, they get frustrated etc and sometimes jsut need some chill time.
@@PutYourQuarterUpGaming Good luck doing that with my Cosette cat. I swear, she's the friendliest kitty ever, but I can never get her to face me to give her head rubs. She doesn't rub in my legs either. She always show me her tushie instead xD She is a very smart cat, but not very much into the petting thing. So yeah, I only scratch the sensitive base of her tail, pretty much. I am sure your method works with the majority of cats who are not weirdos like her though, hahaa
@nozoto I have 1 kitty similar to yours. She is aloof sometimes, but then other times, she will come and sit next to me on the sofa. She isn't a lap sitter. She does sleep with me every night right by my upper side. She purrs and seems happy just doesn't want to sit on people. I have another kitty who loves to sit on me. Lol, go figure. huh
I feed a feral cat that has a opossum friend that she share her food with, the other night I chased the opossum away and since then the cat acts mad at me for chasing her friend. It hasn’t stopped the opossum from returning so now I have a cat & opossum to feed.
My apartment is being painted. My cat doesn't like strangers. She is less than happy. Hides all day. At least she is somewhat ok when the guy leaves but not totally ok either.
@@sngelcat The paint isn't that bad as I bought non VOC paint but there is other stuff the contractor used that is totally awful. Luckily that part is mostly done.
@Brokedown72 I'm guessing that VOC paint isn't toxic or less so? I live in an apartment and anytime maintenance comes in to fix something, Hector will run under the bed and stay there until they leave. I hope that whatever you are painting is close to being done. I assume your 🐈 feels the same. Whatever your painting I hope you like it. I hope that you and your kitty are enjoying a quiet Sunday night. Love and scratches to kitty and God bless to you ❤️☺️
@@sngelcat Yes the volatile chemicals are removed. The manager at Sherwin Williams told me they are no longer allowed to sell oil based paints and stains and everything is environmentally better.
I truly miss my cats abd I am so afraid because they will live me and I want to make sure they would not want them face a horrific situation after I gone. What should I do?
You could look into fostering a cat who is eight years old, or older. Senior cats tend to be calm and polite, and are far less likely to be adopted than younger cats. Some shelters provide all veterinary care and some supplies for foster cats.
The most important part is to show them you're not mad at them for acting defiantly and that you don't hate them. They eventually come to check on you and stitch the relationship together even without the help of catnip ^^
Yep this morning i know why my cat is pissed at me she came up stars to meet me for a quick toilet visit before geting up. so went to pic Her up to steeal a mornning snuggle in bed till My alarm to go off but in the manged to trip the top landing steps and caterpult Her across My bed room in the prosess of picing her up oppps lol
Mine get momentarily upset with me, but I guess it’s a good sign if they still sit nearby. I just need to not pet them for a while. If I have something to do, I’ll go away for a few minutes. When I was a new owner, my older cat was in a fighting posture with me for a while. I had to chase him off to get him to go off and relax. Maybe half an hour later, he was completely back to normal. Now it’s not necessary. They only react negatively to me momentarily.
Cats are a very great support animals for Seniors! They are wonderful pets . They will give you unconditional Love!

We had a cat from when I was 6-19. When he would get irritated with me he would pee on my GI Joes.
That's pretty funny 😅
LMBO that's hilarious! 💙🐾🐾
Well, that's certainly an interesting way of letting their anger be known.
And knowing is half the battle!
@NeoxeElements Well done.
My cat doesn't do "subtle signs".
I can tell how upset he is by how much I am bleeding.
get you some welding gloves, the long ones.
Thank you for sharing the video with us! ✌🏼😻

I was punished for holding her 5 seconds against her will (hug). 😆 She didn't come to get her bed-time snuggles , nor did she visit me at night.

I'm in the same boat. I'm considering fostering. The only drawback with it is if someone wants to adopt them you'll have to let them go.

My cats are seldom angry but when they do get angry( after a nail trim for example) they get over it quickly
Cats are the bonb.
When my cat crash get mad use his paws trips me i acting fall down on the floor
Sadly he passed away November 21 2020
Sometimes my cat bites his tail in anger till it bleeds

The scratches and bite aren't that subtle.
