    Well done good sir! Great video giving an elaborate explanation as to how this vibrato system (yes, I said vibrato) works.

    Been wanting to get one of these for the longest time. I wanted all the accessibility in terms of playing techniques you get with a Floyd, but didn't want to suffer through the process of maintenance. I think i might just get my first floyd guitar and have this installed on here.

    You actually can load 3/8 plain end string through the nose slot and lock -- takes up to about .075 diameter -- wish we could post a few sketches.. 2:07 incorrectly limits string dia to only about .060" -- love back as always, G

    Def getting one, but a good quality floyd with proper set up will stay in tune with heavy use

    I have been enjoying my Floyd 1500, but these bridges seem very simplified but with technical advancements at the same time. Really considering one

    I have seen those and my first thought was this i looked out of place on the old charvel they had it on but on the right guitar it would look great. I gotta say it looks awsome on that V

    Intonation tip slack the string loosen the screw and pull back to desired intonation and re tighten then retune the string

      You can even tilt the tremolo forward with the 2mm wrench inserted in the round port next to the string slot, loosen the internal saddles screw, re-position the macro-tuner and retighten

    Do some Sophia's not come with the replacement nut that locks each string individually? In other videos I've seen, it seems to be a big part of the system's functionality, but in this video the original Floyd (R2 or R3) nut was still installed.

    • @merkaba22
      @merkaba22  2 роки тому +2

      There is no special nut required for any Sophia Tremolo or Hardtail, etc, Its pretty straight ahead: For example, for double locking R3 setups and, especially, headless guitars, for obvious reasons , the compatible nuts and HeadPeace Tuners, all comprise individual string locks...The 2:22 is Fender spec and we like Fender's drop-in fit roller nut... we offer four types, all designed to retro-fit vintage locking nuts specs -- great for upgrades in tone, variable nut material, radius choice and functionality, great for designers... Check our HeadPeace Tuner page at SophiaTremolos.com

    What physically limits the string gauge is it the hole size at the end of the saddle ? Can it be made larger? they do 7 string version as well so a saddle for a bigger string must be available?

    • @merkaba22
      @merkaba22  2 роки тому

      The Sophia macro-tuners can receive up to about .075" dia string -- 3/8" cut end though the string slot and locked in the trad. maker for strings approx over ..050 -- heavier strings gages, sevens etc use this built-in feature:) Plain ended strings through the tuner nob is pretty easy up to about .046"

    Does this just drop into a guitar already fitted for a floyd or does it require extra drilling or routing?

    • @merkaba22
      @merkaba22  2 роки тому

      In almost all cases, the Sophia 2:92 is a drop-in fit -- basically you just need the springbuck length on your existing tremolo -- the distance from the bottom of the base plate to the spring end -- write to us @ sales@cslsophia.com or through the website: sophiatremolos.com

    Can you pull up fully (or almost fully) without the drop tuner hitting the body?

    • @merkaba22
      @merkaba22  2 роки тому +1

      Hey back -- thanks for asking -- the DropTuner is in an offset position for a couple of reasons. On a 2018 Jackson, the tremolo base plate nearly flush to the body surface, the recess is wide enough to allow the Drop Tuner lever to pass but the extension of the tuning knob hitting the recess during pulls, limits the range of the pull to about a b3rd on harmonics etc. In another setup, floating over the body, original style -- there would be no restriction and even a higher range, etc. --

    So this term bridge can do flutters? Seems like you did some of those but not entirely sure

    • @merkaba22
      @merkaba22  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, of course -- the Global Tuner Pro upgrade in that video has a variable pre-tension feature for each stabilizer,; you can fine tune the looseness which depends in part on how many springs you use, etc.

      @@merkaba22 interesting. Does this bridge require locking nuts?

    • @merkaba22
      @merkaba22  2 роки тому

      @@demoinglife No, not necessarily -- there are two primary camps, the one for Strats using the UNO Single Stabilizer works extremely well with locking tuners and especially a roller nut ... see YT Sophia 2:22 Deluxe UNO demo

    I was going to get one. But to be honest, all the different options, make it more confusing, and overwhelming. Sometimes to much, is to much. I have no idea what I should specifically order, that will fit my guitars. I will stick with good old reliable. Until you guys figure out a simpler way to advertise to your customers.

      In a brief synopsis, we offer two types of tremolos, 2:22, one for vintage Fender-ish standards and 2:92 is one for vintage OFR. The OFR has macro-tuners or Deluxe locking saddles -- the base model offers a bell brass StopBlock that includes an optional Trem Stop hard stop feature. The TremStop can be upgraded to the UNO for a soft stop stabilization option .. either the TremStop, the UNO or the GT Pro work with the Drop Tuner -- after that, its color and spring block size. You can write us at sales@cslsophia.com -- we are a very small company and hand built to order... thank you!

    Yeah knocking the door at 600 bucks for a fully specced out one.
    They do have the option of buying that tripped out block with all the stabilization on it for your Floyd Rose I think I'm going to go that route.

    this tremolo uses a lot of the old Kahler 2700 designs ...... it was SOOOOOOO much better than the FR ! but FR won in the lawsuit. This tremolo uses the exact same design . . . . if it ever becomes popular . . . watch out FR will sue this company too.... I still play the Kahlar 2700 .... best tremolo of it's day. 30 years before this tremolo. It does look like there are some great UPDATES to this unit...that the 2700 doesn't have in that design. So maybe JUST maybe it's a good replacement for the 2700

    Thanks for your video.... I want to try this Sofia bridge. Years ago i did try a Steinberger headless guitar and the tremolo was SHIT 😠 There is other SHIT tremolo (those on kiesel guitars).
    Remember now i saw that Sofia bridge a few years ago on a guitar messe stand (presentation). They old Kramer floyd-rose i have played since the beginning and they are very easy for me to set up fast (Lot of people don't know how to use a screwdriver, too many lazy STUPID people 😠 ). But cool video and kick ass as cannibal corpse 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
