I had SO much fun uncovering this local neighbourhood. Which neighbourhood do you want me to visit next time? 😍🗼 ALSO - I honestly couldn't film my videos without SnapWireless chargers cause I'm constantly needing to charge my devices.. 😂 so if you're a big traveller like me, can't recommend them enough!! **The coupon code for this has been changed to SEERASAN
Sarah. could you do a video recommending Japanese authors and their novels? I have now read everything Haruki Murakami has written, so I need some more Japanese stuff! 😁
There's so many foreign youtubers in Japan now, but most of them go to the same places. Sarah, on the other hand, knows all the coolest places even the locals don't know about. 😎
Hi Sarah San. Japanese mom of two from Seattle here🤗 I love watching your videos❤ Watching your posts with my daughter when I’m exhausted and maybe even a bit homesick is my ultimate iyashi time. We can’t wait to try the curry place next time when I’m back. Thanks for sharing your life in Japan. Good luck❤
When I visited Japan last year I stayed in Jimbocho for 6 days and I have very fond memories of this place. In the evenings it gets really quiet compared to how central in Tokyo it is...
I loved exploring Jimbocho!! Though unfortunately the time I went it was getting late and places were closing down… 🥲 Hope to visit again… also that Indian restaurant looked amazing
I gasped when you pulled out the Deltora Quest book. That series made my fall in love with reading when I was a kid. Great job with all the videos lately, you’re on fire
Thanks!! I am SO excited to finally get this going!!! I've been wanting to do a series like this before I even really became consistent with my UA-cam ahaha
Jimbocho is my number one must see destination when I visit Japan someday. This was such a fun video. It’s cool to see there are stationary shops in the area too, I’m a big fan of Japanese stationary and fountain pens.
Thank you for a great video! I'm so happy that you made a little series showing the lovely (sometimes boring) normal way of life as someone who hasn't been to Japan.
I LOVE this. Books and music and class souvenirs of my favorite Pokemon and movies? Now we're talking 😂 plus manga bookstore? Yes! Thanks Sara! These are the sorts of places I want to visit if I get the chance to, so hearing where they are saves so much time researching. I really love you having a fangirl moment and I'm glad you got that your name poster.
Your name is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE movies too!! Ahh there's some really cool shops. I know if I ever get around to going to Japan I'm going to love the preservation that people have of items. Living vicariously through these videos😍 thanks so much for always sharing unique things in Japan!
Next neighbourhood you should have a look at is Kagurazaka. We stayed there end of March this year and the retro hotel and bar was amazing! Tatami bedroom upstairs and down stairs the most amazing intimate bar with Yuuki the barman who made the BEST cocktails. Definitely worth checking out. Across the road is a okonomiyaki place as well that made the best Osaka style okonomiyaki. Tourists for some reason didn’t really seem to be there, more of a hip place that locals live. We loved it so much we want to try and buy a holiday house there.
I loved this video! I've been meaning to check out Jimbocho for a while now so this video came at a great time. I think I will visit later today after i finiah my school work 😂. I'm definitely checking out the cat themed store and the indian restaurant
Thanks Sarah! We checked the town out yesterday and it was an amazing change of pace from the usual places. The coffee at glitch was fantastic. Although they were sold out of the white chocolate beans. The alternatives were really good still. Looking forward to the other towns you will visit next!
It is really fun to listen to your natural talk with walking. I love your personality and you look amazing as well. I'm interested in your point of view for Japanese culture and scenes as an international person loving Japan. So much fresh and interesting.
thank you so much for sharing this video and perfect timing for me :D I'm heading back to Tokyo in Sept and my Tokyo friends were all telling me to check out this neighborhood to find Showa era posters and I've been looking on YT and there really isn't that many videos (at least good ones) showcasing this area. Now I know a few spots to check out :D Thanks :D
Funny thing.. I saw a glimpse of Japanese for busy people (green). I read that and If I remember correctly there are also yellow and red. Nice to see study and learning related topics!
Looking forward to the series! Yes the Indian food in Tokyo is fantastic. During one of business trips about 10 years ago a colleague from India was also in town, that's when I realised how great the Indian food was and authentic (verified by my Indian colleague and well I've been to India too).
What a fun neighborhood! There is an anime mural for Astro-Boy (VERY old-school anime!) under the tracks at Takadanobaba station. The station plays the theme song as it's arrival/departure alert. There is also an Anime Hostel around the corner from the mural.
Wonderful video. You remind me so much of college students telling me about their travels and vacations! This neighborhood is amazing and the bookstores are a bibliophiles paradise.
As someone that half watches/half vibes while I work/lazy game. Hearing they have rubbers at this bookstore took me out of it for a second and I had to rewind lol. Love to visit this place someday
Just discovered your channel when i spotted the baseball video last week. Im visiting later this year. Thanks for gettijg me more excited and giving me more suggestions and options for my trip 😀
Ahhh, Howl's Moving Castle is also my favorite! I feel like so few people actually call it their favorite so it's exciting to find someone else. Also, I put my enamel pin collection on a lampshade for a floor lamp (or a table lamp would work too, obviously!) They pierce through really easily and that way you're not in danger of losing them but can still look at them all the time :)
Yay, glad you agree with me on Howl's Moving Castle! No matter how many times I watch that, I love it sooo much 🩵 I'll have to keep searching for a good location for my pins, cause my bags are too risky (already lost some that way 😭)
That Dosa in Singapore would cost you maybe 500JPY at an expensive place, or even as cheap as 200JPY at a neighbourhood stall and it would come with a fuller filling and way more curry. Seems like indian food in Japan ain't cheap.
Deltora Quest! I've been trying to think for ages what those books were called. I used to buy all the books at the book fair in primary school. I was obsessed with them 😅
I saw a video about this place before and it didn’t seem too interesting, but you made it look so much fun! I’ll check it out the next time I’m in Japan 😊
There are several universities in this area, and since it is a student town, there are also many bookstores. In addition, there are many cases where bookstores and curry restaurants are attached, making it a competitive area for curry restaurants. The neighboring town, Ochanomizu, is lined with musical instrument stores, making it a place where those interested will never get bored.
@@wasabigirl2004 Yes, it's very close. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the bookstore district to the musical instrument store district, and Ochanomizu Station is also nearby.
Love this video. I'm visiting in 10 weeks and hope to go to Jimbocho to find some ukiyo-e, but might run out of time. I definitely have Nippori Fabric Town on my list. You should do a video there!
This place looks like the perfect place to visit for me whenever I get the chance to go to Japan. I collect a lot of old Japanese film magazines, mostly キネマ旬報. Right now I get them imported from 2nd hand/proxy sites which is quite pricey and it would just be so cool to browse through old magazines and books in person. Edit: If you don't mind, or if someone else knows, what's the location of the store at 7:40?

I'd be really interested in seeing some Akasaka!
There's so many foreign youtubers in Japan now, but most of them go to the same places. Sarah, on the other hand, knows all the coolest places even the locals don't know about. 😎
I agree to that!😊

Aww thanks for watching with your family ☺️💕 so sweet!
I've never been to Jimbocho, but it must be the best place for a book addict!!!! I'll get around in there if I have a chance to visit Tokyo!!!
"I don't know what I am eating, but I like it!" 🤣 That's the spirit!
When I visited Japan last year I stayed in Jimbocho for 6 days and I have very fond memories of this place. In the evenings it gets really quiet compared to how central in Tokyo it is...

Love Jimbocho! What a treat!
BOOK HOTEL was called SAKU REN Jimbocho when I was there in 2019.
I gasped when you pulled out the Deltora Quest book. That series made my fall in love with reading when I was a kid.
Great job with all the videos lately, you’re on fire
Sarah I love this idea.. Ready, Set.......Go..😜
This series is going to be an amazing playlist for sure!
Thanks!! I am SO excited to finally get this going!!!
I've been wanting to do a series like this before I even really became consistent with my UA-cam ahaha
Sarah is out here showing us the best Japan content!
I'm all for you doing a video of the book hotel!! 🙏🙏
Keigo Higashino's Malice is my favourite locked room mystery
I'm loving your neighborhood series!! :) As a bookworm, I'd totes visit this Toyko neighborhood. Can't wait for the next one!
Jimbocho is my number one must see destination when I visit Japan someday. This was such a fun video. It’s cool to see there are stationary shops in the area too, I’m a big fan of Japanese stationary and fountain pens.
Just been here a few weeks ago, great neighborhood, I love the classical vibe it gives.
You need to stay at the book hotel!
As a quiet introvert, this looks like my ideal neighbourhood! Books and coffee, you just can’t go wrong! Look forward to see where you go next :)
Cat store 😻. I need some of those souveniers!
Thank you for a great video! I'm so happy that you made a little series showing the lovely (sometimes boring) normal way of life as someone who hasn't been to Japan.
This is a place that I can spend a good amount of time with.
So many different things and diversity in your videos. I love it. Thanks for showing lesser known gems of Japan!
Love it. Only heard about this area from Persona 5! Long after my own Japan trip 😩. Would have definitely visited
I LOVE this. Books and music and class souvenirs of my favorite Pokemon and movies? Now we're talking 😂 plus manga bookstore? Yes!

yes now we're talking more interesting places , we all know Japan has food by now
I wanna try the coffee with white chocolate notes!
Since I read Morisaki's library, one of my dreams is to go to Jinboucho
Books? Coffee?! Cat stuff?! melon pan?!!! I want to go there so bad now :D
My workplace is at jimbocho, I walk past through these places almost everyday
Books, cats and coffee. I can’t ask for anything more! 😍
Loved this video. I'm a big reader, so this would be a place Id wanna go to.
I love this video! 💛 to be honest I never knew about this neighbourhood.
Now I want to go to Japan even more. 😁
Thank you!

That’s really cool my dad used to buy me powerpuff girl comic books at the seven eleven
For collecting those enamel pins, I suggest a corkboard!

Sending love from SanDiego. Absolutely loved this video. 😊
Really enjoyed this video Sarah. Thank you 😊 looking forward to the rest of the series!
Thanks for watching ☺️💕

Always a good day when a new Seerasan video drops 😊

Great video ☺️
Will definitely need to go exploring next time!
I really like your style of filming ✨
It makes me feel like we are hanging out together 🥰
This neighbourhood series is the best please do more of them..
This would be "my" quarter 😍
DELTORA QUEST. Wow that brings back some memories. Cool video concept!
Biggest throwback that came outta nowhere!! 😝
So cute! Fun fact, the state of Texas is almost twice the size of Japan
This was a great video.. More content like this please 👌
I've been to that melon pan shop. I got way too much stuff.

Heidi is actually a Miyazaki Series. Before Ghibli was founded.
Yes and it's based on a Book series from Swiss author Johanna Spyri.

I got that book, too! Hmmm, time to bring it out and do some study before my first Japan trip?

Knocking it out of the park with another great video! Great job with the recent vids!
oooh I'm planning to visit Tokyo later this year, so I'll definitely be taking notes from this video series!! can't wait for more :)
Loved this, thank you!!!
Wonderful video. You remind me so much of college students telling me about their travels and vacations! This neighborhood is amazing and the bookstores are a bibliophiles paradise.
Tokyo Melonpan is always in some random place. Love em freshly made
What a cool neighbourhood! As a book lover it looks like paradise. Thanks for showing us such interesting places. Also dosa are so delicious!
Damn, pumping out content like crazy! Love your videos!
Yesss! Getting a little addicted here 😂
Deltora Quest was great rid that series and its sequels as a kid and there was a Deltora Quest anime.
please make a content on book hotel if possible
As someone that half watches/half vibes while I work/lazy game. Hearing they have rubbers at this bookstore took me out of it for a second and I had to rewind lol.
Love to visit this place someday
lmaooo I realised immediately after I said rubber how Americans would interpret it & changed to eraser 😂
Imagine people from the U.K. being offered a U.S. “Johnny cake.”
Really enjoyed seeing this neighbourhood & look forward to seeing others 📚❤
Very cool video! I loved it. 😊
Love this! Appreciate that you actually speak Japanese too. Subscribed!
Thank you! 🫶 😊

Love the cat themed book store, I gotta visit. If you are looking for ideas please visit Jiyugaoka, I would love to see you cover that area.
That’s on my list actually!!
@@seerasan I’m so happy to hear that, I used to visit there often with my grandma when I lived in Japan. I can’t wait to go back.
Super interesting video, Sarah. If you like Indian food, I can recommend Nataraj. There have a couple of restaurants around Tokyo 😊
I LOVE this new segment Sarah!! I cannot wait to see your future vids in other neighbourhoods :) And also yes, please go stay at the Book Hotel!!
Kimi no Nawa is my favorite movie too. You should post something from "the bridge". Thanks for doing these videos.
Deltora Quest, let's gooo! Also you should check out Shimokitazawa next
