  • Applying Celsius WG and a surfactant on actively growing zoysia, to control broadleaf and young crabgrass. We go over the application rate, mixing instructions, PPE and how to apply. Product label link is at the bottom of this description, there you will find all the weeds that this product treats. There are some great tank mix partners for Celsius, like Certainty.
    Always read the label before purchasing and using any product. You are responsible for your lawn but I'm here if you have questions.
    This year I purchased the Yardmastery backpack sprayer and I'm loving it. There will be more content on this as the season progresses.

    I thought the Celsius cap can be used to measure the amount of product. If so, a lot easier than using a digital scale. Anyway, great video, and thanks for taking the time to post this informative video.

      The cap can most certainly be used but it’s hard to read and definitely not accurate.

    Did you apply this on early spring? I just got a bottle of this to apply it now in fall season but I've seen slow growth of the weeds I'm targeting. I also got lots of nutsedge, but this product doesn't have it listed. So im thinking that i should apply this in spring and just apply an pre emergent at thus stage

    Howdy Sir, thanks for this video. I live in Houston and would I be okay to apply this herbicide right now in September??? I have an area of about 150 sq ft that got a lot of crabgrass, totally my fault, or should I just wait till October and apply a Pre-Emergent??? Any thoughts are much appreciated. Also, I'm dumb and just bought the Celsius...

    • @NCGrassPlugs
      @NCGrassPlugs  Рік тому +3

      You can apply Celsius this time of year but it probably won’t do much for the crabgrass in the growth stage that it’s in. Go ahead and get your pre out soon for your winter weeds and again in late winter or early spring for next years crab.

    I'm trying to control virginia buttonweed and find the use of Celsius WG to be very frustrating and confusing. The label calls out using 4.9 oz/acre (0.113 oz/1000 sq ft) for virginia buttonweed. It also says that virginia buttonweed "may need a second application of this product for control." Yet the label also specifically says to not exceed 7.4 oz of product per acre per year for all applications. Well, 4.9 oz times 2 applications is 9.8 oz. Does this mean that Celsius WG may be useless in controlling virginia buttonweed? If so, is there anything that can take out virginia buttonweed? I'm losing my entire yard to it.

      Read this
      Celsius is a combination product that contains a sulfonylurea, iodosulfuron, with thiencarbazone and dicamba. Single applications of Celsius have been shown to provide good to excellent control (80 to 100%) of Virginia buttonweed (Table 2). Celsius may be applied to control grassy and broadleaf weeds in bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustinegrass and zoysiagrass or lawns with mixtures of these species. Celsius controls other troublesome weeds including bull paspalum, doveweed and spotted spurge. Tribute Total is another combination product that contains three ALS-inhibitors including thiencarbazone, foramsulfuron, and halosulfuron. It can only be applied to bermudagrass and zoysiagrassturf. Sequential applications at 3.2 oz/acre four to six weeks after initial treatments may be needed to control Virginia buttonweed regrowth.

      @@NCGrassPlugs First of all, awesome videos! I greatly appreciate the work you put into them. Secondly, thank you for the reply! I realized I was mixing up measurements.
      However, after rereading the label more carefully, I found the label states a single application for v. buttonweed is 3.2 g/1000 sq ft, with a yearly maximum allowance in all circumstances being 4.8 g/1000 sq ft (page 3 of the product label). Two applications of 3.2g still exceeds the yearly maximum allowance of 4.8g. And there's no explanation for the yearly maximum. That's the frustrating part.
      Either two applications, which combined exceeds the stated yearly maximum, is the way to go or I'm limited to one initial application at 3.2g per 1000 sq ft, followed by a second maximum application at 1.6g per 1000 sq ft, with the 1.6g being far below the 3.2g level needed for effectiveness against v. buttonweed. I want to get rid of the buttonweed but don't want to end up poisoning my neighbors to do it.
      I guess I have to decide whether or not to respect the 4.8g yearly limit or do two 3.2g effective applications like you, and all other Internet posts I've seen, recommend. Shame on Bayer for not making it clear.

    Dude, seriously? Why speed up the application footage? I'm sure a lot of people would like to see the walking speed in real time to get an idea on how fast or slow to walk. I know it changes on application rate but not by much. Watching you zip back and forth is worthless.

    • @NCGrassPlugs
      @NCGrassPlugs  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you for the feedback. I look at it a little differently than you, I think that no one wants to watch me walk and spray but I get what you’re saying. The only problem is that every sprayer and pump sprays at different rates. This is why everyone should “calibrate” their sprayer and practice a pace that gets you to your desired output per 1000.
      Next time I apply, I will show the walking pace.
