You know, this might actually work for me. (reel mower, black and decker weedeater lawnmower too, SMALL lawns. Don't judge). I agree with the question in theory though. Thanks @daddydeads
You gave me hope when I had none! After about a month of using tenacity, I feel the tide has turned. I'm seeing fewer and fewer weeds and the grass is taking over.
I found that just controlling the soil’s PH levels completely rid my lawn of clover, weeds and crab grass. In Northern VA my soil was too acid for the grass and just right for clover weeds and crabgrass. The back lawn had some pine trees which increased the acid content higher than the front lawn. I bought a few soil test kits from a houses and garden center for a dollar and developed an understand of the different PH levels in different areas. All were to acidic so the only solution was pot ash. Which was simple, safe and very easy. No chemicals with possible hazardous runoff. The grass that I was seeding with liked a more neutral PH level that was different than the weeds, clover and crabgrass, so it flourished and all the bad stuff died. Reseeding fills in the voids left. I cut the grass never below 3.5 inches to reduce water usage. All my neighbors would stop buy and ask me what my secrets were to my perfect lawn. I just said, follow the science.
@@eliu20050101 Potash is Ph akaline chemical. It is originally from ashes. You can use potland cement ( Hydrated lime, calcium hydroxide) from hardware store as well.
Every year I come back to your video. This is the best solution ever, no other products (and I bought them all) worked on the clover. Your solution worked! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Idk why tenacity won't kill my clover. Some of it turns white, snd some doesn't. But that's what's shown here too. Maybe ot didn't kill his clover either.
If your dad doesnt teach you man stuff when your learning to be a man your father failed. Lmao between my dad and my grandpas I could fix a car and build a house by the time I was 18. Smdh little girls you are. Hahahahahah.
Thank you, its because I only show things that I really love so it's easy to get excited about them. I am sponsored by some companies but the vast majority of my videos, including this one are just a regular person showing something they like and sharing how to use it. Thanks again for the kind words!
@@powerinprayer917 You absolutely can, Tenacity does not care about the time of year at all, if weeds are actively growing you can use it. The only other restriction is that you can never spray when it's 80 or over. Just while spraying, it can be over 80 later on in the same day. Hope this helps.
No matter how much dye I put in, it never contrasts as much as it does for you in this video hahaha. But thank you for your content, you've been super helpful in getting my lawn back into shape.
You might want to have a look at your topsoil and drainage situation. My guess is that it is not good and you may have to start there to get the results you are after.
Great video! I followed your advice last year using Tenacity mixture. The results were fantastic! It was murder spraying it with a hand held spray bottle. If you have a large area like me, better get yourself a backpack sprayer and your body will thank you.
True. And you can get a good/decent 5 gallon backpack sprayer at harbor freights for $30 or less. Been using the same one for several years and it’s been great. Obviously a battery powered one would be even better but as a home owner only treating your own lawn pumping by hand is not a big deal.
Instructions are very clear. Precise, concise, and recommending a product that works - not just a generic big brand store product. Exact measurements, too, eliminating so many trial and error = wasted time and money. Thank you!
Ohio lawn care professional here. Single most important thing is mowing high. 3 1/2 to 4”. Haven’t used crabgrass control or a blanket weed control in years. Just fertilizer. Most people don’t realize how important proper mowing is. Weed wacking the edges down low is also a sure way to get weeds and crabgrass. Did I mention mow high!
Great information. I've been following your instructions for two years now, and the lawn in my house is getting better and better. It was so terrible before. I've been sharing your video with everyone liked the results of my lawn. Thank you again for your time and efforts.
Yeah but lawns are always not the most insect friendly when they are mowed very often. For that reason I leave small spots on my property untreated so that the grass and weeds get long and the insects got something to eat and live
I bought this stuff a couple years ago . I mixed it and sprayed it on my grass but didn’t get the results I expected. I figured out what I did wrong. You must mix it. Shake your container well before spraying . I’m going to try it again tomorrow in my back yard and hopefully I will be happy.
Clover is a legume, which means it fixes nitrogen in the soil and is a "green manure". The flowers also attract pollinators. They can be quite beautiful when they bloom.
Ditto, i have a patch of clovers next to my grass and the soil with the clovers is black and soft, while the soil with the grass is hard, dry, and tan. A yard full of only green grass makes the utility company and city very happy. 🤑
Completely agree. My lawn is polyculture of grasses and "weeds" to support the soil and pollinators. I would never remove any of them, especially with chemicals.
Crabgrass and clover are really starting to kick in this time of year. While I’ve only used tenacity a couple times, I was very happy with the results.
Great video! As far as clover goes, up until the 1950s it was was the most popular lawn type. It was actually chemical company marketing post WW2 that suggested it was a weed. Everyone wanted a clover lawn. And like stated in the video, it is great for pollinators. Beyond that, it actually a nitrogen fixer, meaning it works through a symbiotic relationship with bacteria to covert nitrogen in our atmosphere in sequestered nitrogen that is bioavailable to plants. So if you have poor soil, it might be a good idea to start with clover to get things going for a year or two, then start mixing in the grass seed. Having bear ground leads to the soil bacteria either going dormant or completely dying off, and to takes a while to rebuild that healthy soil ecosystem which supports plants. This is because the ground will be directly exposed to the sun to “cook”. Just thought I’d share!
Thank you 🙏🙌!!! If you want healthy vegetative “growth”, whether it be lawn grass, produce, shrubs or trees, please, please, please do not spray something that KILLS VEGETATIVE GROWTH. Instead plant things that foster biodiversity. Nature already has the cure for every disease and pest. We just have to get away from the idea of sterilizing everything and killing off what we think is “undesirable”.
Thick top dressing of dried composted cow manure after aerating can help kick start everything. We put 10 cu yds on a lawn last oct on a very troubling lawn. She was skeptical, two weeks ago (late march) she was skeptical, this week she is a believer. Most bare spots gone, beautiful color, great stand and very happy.
I appreciate the share that explains what happen to my soil that has impire grass that is now being chocked or take over by clovers..all my hard work of planting Impire grass has now turned into clovet lawn which is not impressive to me. But if it will help rebuild the soil Ill removed them when its done
Most people complain about our culture being too superficial and about companies controlling narratives but they're fine to allow a company to dictate to them what a healthy lawn is lol. Thanks for the information, I think I'll let the clovers live.
This worked incredibly well! I put on the product and waited a few days. It didn’t look like anything was happening, so I sprayed the areas again. Then EVERYWHERE I sprayed turned white!! I thought I’d killed more than just the crab grass! But after a few mowings over the next 2 weeks or so, the grass was fine and the crab grass was gone! It still looks awesome, after about a month of the white being gone. And no crab grass at all! Thank you so much! (Oh, and I did overseed the areas where I had sprayed for crab grass. But I waited a couple of weeks to apply seed. )
I just wanted to say that your videos are amazing. I have a newer lawn with lots of weeds and I ended up wasting money on hiring TruGreen to take care of it because it was pretty frustrating watching other youtube lawn videos where they either go way too in depth for a newbie or completely waste my time by taking about their lawn experiences. Most people probably just want tips, and a step-by-step right to the point guide and you did that, keep up the good work!!!
I really appreciate the nice comment a lot! All of these take a lot of time to put together but the nice feedback like this really goes a long way knowing they help a lot of people. I was just were you were a few years ago, paying other people and it got nothing for it. Glad you like them and thank you for being a part of my channel.
TruGreen quoting me $55+ a visit X7/yr. for 3,000 sf of coverage when I only have 1,200 sf. < $120 of DIY Supplies Shown Here will last me 4 years. So $120 vs $ 1,540 . . . no brainer. I was already doing all of the other stuff anyway e.g. Grub X, Fertilizer, Terro, Seeding and more . . . My next door neighbor has had TG for years and they deliberately are not providing full coverage of her property that they are over-charging her for. So now my border with her has gotten to be ugly. Just another Part Of Their Game. Very few of these companies do what they are suppose to do Unless YOU supervise Their Employees. Do it yourself folks . . . This stuff not Rocket Science. Just follow instructions and use common sense.
I agree this is a great video and presentation. Here is my issue though I used this recipe for my lawn and though it killed the clover it didn't kill other wide leaf weeds. Also it burnt the grass in some areas, but the grass recuperated from the burnt after a few weeks. My issue is that it didn't kill all the weeds.
You can apply tenacity at the time of seeding to use as a pre emergent. It won’t inhibit your seed from growing. It can be used as both a post and preemergent.
Never. This is very(!) toxic for nature. And you should preferably cut the lawn one time. In the late summer/beginning of early autumn. When all the flowers of the grass and the flowers have gone away. Then cut with a scythe or similar. Let it stay on the ground for at least a week so the seeds can fall off. Then rake together and put on a compost. The more time goes by, the more your boring horrendous monoculture green desert lawn will transform into a more meadow like with more flowers, more bees and butterflies and insects, and nutrients will slowly go away with the cut grass that will make the grass grow slower and the flowers to become more. So NEVER have fertilizers on.
Very informative. Thank you! I would very much appreciate answers to a few questions: * Do I apply this in spring, summer, fall, any time? * How long should I wait to apply this after cutting the grass? * I assume the grass needs to be dry. How long after the application should I wait to water? * You are spot treating in this video. Can I / should I apply this to an entire lawn?
You can apply it everytime in the year but not in the winter of course. Grass shouldn’t be mowed 2 days before and after application. I think same is for watering. And yes you can put it onto whole lawn. If you follow the instructions your good grass will not be killed
I started using this last year! My front and side yard (maybe 2000 sq ft) had probably 100 sq ft of clover, and seemed to pull two to three 55 gallon drums worth dandelions every summer (neighbor refused to spray or weed his yard, with his entire yard being dandelion and crab grass) this spring I’ve only had a few dozen pop up so far, and zero clover. A far better result from the previous spring. The neighbor ended up at a nursing home, and there is no one at his house, so I sprayed his entire yard, front and back, I’ll seed, water, and mow it till someone buys the place.
Daniel Desmond you wouldn’t need to weed, in my comment above, the weeding I’m referring to is before I started using tenacity. It takes a few weeks after spraying the weeds for them to die, but die they will. Some advice would be, Don’t apply when the leaves are wet, or rain is in the immediate forecast. Good luck.
@@brainwashingdetergent4322 My bad that was probably my stupidest typo. What I meant to say was "how long after spraying weed killer can you seed." As in sow grass seed. I've just sprayed my lawn's weeds and I'm wondering if that will affect the grass seeding process.
Daniel Desmond no worries, good question, I’m not sure as this is the first year I’ve tried over seeding and tenacity. I sprayed first then watered regularly for two weeks before I over seeded. I see what happens I suppose. If the seed doesn’t take, I’ll over seed again this fall.
Buddy, thanks for the recommendations! I had tilled, cultivated and planted a new lawn this spring. I was hesitant to use any herbicide figuring it would interfere with lawn seed germination and growth. More than half of my lawn was soon covered with just about every weed variety imaginable... However after just one application of the recommended solution, in less than 3 weeks ALL weeds are dead or dying! And my grass wasn’t affected at all! I used the same Jonathan Green variety you suggested in another vid (I also live in NJ). Just wish I knew about this herbicide before planting this year as I would have definitely used it as a pre-emergent. I’ll definitely broadcast spray again this fall. After a good scarifying, dethatch, aeration, fertilization and overseed, I hope to have a great lawn in year 2! Peace brother 👊🏻
@@jcrane521 scarification is kind of like scraping the surface. It removes dead/dying vegetation build-up which can block needed air, water and nutrients from entering the soil. Ideally (albeit impossible) all you should see are grass shoots and soil. It also tends to scrape light grooves into the soil, which IMO provides a better seedbed for over-seeding although I haven’t found any studies to confirm this. It’s also a good opportunity to rake in some new soil afterwards for better combining. Good luck to you. Make year 11 the best ever! 👍 Off to a good start here in year 2...🤞🏼
Thank you so much for this information, my lawn looks 100% better since I applied it. You are really a benefit for people like me, keep it up! Great advice.
great video, you should add that there is a max amount of tenacity that can be applied to a lawn per year. You can apply Tenacity Herbicide multiple times per year as long as you do not exceed the maximum annual rate of 16 oz per Acre per year
I have a lot of spurge on my acre. I used to have a lot of crabgrass too. I removed it by doing 2 5k renovations on my front lawn. It took 2 years. Now I apply pre-em in the spring to prevent the crabgrass. Last year I split the pre-em into two applications. This year I did one app for the max amount. I have some poa annua too. That is a pain to deal with. A reno is a lot of work, but worth it in the long run
You should also note that Tenacity kills bent grass. Bent grass is the type of grass used on golf courses, but is pretty common for residential lawns to have patches of it.
I’m old school. I actually like White Clover in the Lawn. I have actually bought white clover seed and spread it around my yard. When I was young Clover was the ground cover in all the playgrounds in the area I grew up in. It’s practically indestructible with kids running on it all the time.
If you can't tolerate clover in your yard, does that mean you don't tolerate minorities in your neighborhood? Celebrate diversity in your yard as well as your neighborhood. Lawn = discrimination.
These videos are great. After watching, I bought the sprayer and all the chemicals. My lawn is getting better and getting ready for the fall renovation! Thanks for the great content and links to products!
Clover is good for your lawn. It grows well with grass. It adds nitrogen naturally. It keeps it green with way less water. I kill the crab grass and leave the clover. I introduced micro clover
as a lawncare owner for 33 years...what was told is correct. Onions and clover have a waxy coating so the surfactant is needed to make it stick. One thing...do not spray in the heat of the day. Killing crabgrass normally is done in September...then reseed in October . As he said...DO NOT RE SPARY WEEDS. AND if the sprayer had Roundup in it before...make sure its triple rinsed because just a residue can kill grass.
Funny this should show up n my recommendations as I am currently in the process of replacing the grass in my lawn with clover, creeping thyme, corsican mint and moss for the shady areas. Looks good, smells even better and I don't have to mow anymore.
Yeah I like clover because it doesn’t grow tall so takes less mowing takes nitrogen from the air so it doesn’t need fertilization, and bees love the flowers to make honey and bees pollinate my fruit trees! Why kill it? Killing it is going overboard and hurts our environment...in my opinion.
Lay down some grass seed when it dies. Expert garden sun and shade mix grows in anything. Also grass may be suffocated under the crab grass and clovers
Lol same here. In fact most of the homes in my area just have the grass that grows naturally....though to be fair a lot of them have really large lawns (that like take a few hours to mow even with a riding mower) that are way too much to seed.
Finally!! Thank you. I killed ALL my grass with round up.. luckily it came back the next year, granted not as full. Will do this and reseed the lawn after the crabgrass is gone.
I pulled out by hand most of the crab grass. As for the clover I didn’t use anything other than when I mow I use the mulcher on my mower. I set the mower to the highest setting so it doesn’t cut the grass too short. It’s now mostly gone and I expect it will be crowded out within the next six to eight months. Whenever I see the crabgrass I pull it out before it seeds again. My only other problem is dandelions. I pick the flowers off before they seed. I pulled the dandelions out whenever I can. Now my lawn is lush.

I really love all your videos including this one. All the methods you teach are simple, easy. After watching them I want to try by myself. That is a big deal! Thank you for your hard work and effort. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. 👍🤝💯
I really appreciate such nice words, it means a lot. I love to make the videos and they take a lot of time but seeing something like this makes it really worthwhile. Thanks for sharing this and being a part of the channel. Best wishes.
Love crabgrass/dollar weed and clover. I have a combo lawn with the weeds and St. Augustine that has run from my neighbor to my lawn. Different textures, little flowers and no watering. No fertilzer or other things...it lives and cycles with the seasons. You cut it in different directions and I am happy with the look.
Most weed killers that are safe for lawns, like Tenacity or Gordons Tri-Mac Plus, need to be used in certain temperature ranges. Read and follow label directions.
Just received the products and the sprayer and am about to start the process. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the information and guidance! If this works, I’ll be so happy!🤞
We moved to a home with a neglected lawn, which is more like a mowed field. It's covered in crab grass, clover, milkweed and dandelions, looks shaggy, and much of it is dead and dry at any given time. When I mow the burr clover, it dies, leaving big brown spots. Most of our "lawn" is being repurposed. But I want the part that remains lawn to look good. So thank you for your information.
This will make a big difference for you and get you to a point that you will just have yoru grass left to spread and you can add seed too then if you want to help it more. I just treated my backyard as outlined above for the 5th time since the end of March. I am finally seeing some progress. Clover: All applications seem to have helped with clover right from the start but, the crabgrass has been very stubborn. Crabgrass: Parts of it turn white but other parts of the same clump stay green and or over time (1 week) the white parts return to green and some actually do die. That leads me to think the dosing as described, has been insufficient for me so, in the last application, I sprayed much more than the 1st 3 or 4 applications. We'll see what happens. I know every lawn is different and I only offer this feedback for those that are not seeing results as described by the original poster. One last thing. In my 1st application, I incorrect;y used 1 'tablespoon' of Tenacity, 3 'tablespoons' of surfactant and 4 'tablespoons' of dye instead of teaspoons. Maybe that's why the clover reacted. Even then the blue didn't show up very well but I did have a different one than listed above. Later, I decided to just skip the dye stuff. Not worth the hassle or the mess and yes, I made a mess...more than once. Because of the extra strength ratios, I did lose a little grass but like I said, it sure smacked the clover right in da face. Worth it. Crabgrass kinda just said, "Hey Bro..whatdaya think your dewin?" Good luck to all as the battle continues.
I only have done it once, 10 days ago to be exact, saw about 10% of the treated area turn white, the rest looks as if not even treated. I've watered the yard because it needed it and 90% of the crabgrass is all nice and green taking over.
Ha ha. I'm trying to replace my grass with clover. It's great. Now I mow a lot less often because there's so few grass blades growing AND my yard looks like a nice bio - diversified meadow that includes wild carrots and strawberries.
I have a horrible lawn no nitrates in the soil. In process of growing clover. Threw seeds10 days ago and already have growth. No chemicals! 1st time in 2 seasons I have green! Clover is not your enemy!
Tenacity also works on nutsedge and nimblwill, but the best way to address the crabgrass issue is to prevent it before it cones up. It starts to germinate when the surface soil temperature is between 55 & 60 degrees for at least 5-6 days, so you want to apply the pre-emergent before that happens. Here in Iowa that soil temperature happens between April and early May but there's nothing consistent about the weather here so I use back to back applications of fertilizer with prodiamine or pendamethalin. I apply the first one in mid March and the second one 4 to 6 weeks later. Pro tip: if you've applied grass seed during this time, you'll only lose about 10% of your germination rate.
Thank you for the information. I applied Dithiapyr 40wsb in January and March. Do you think it would be possible to germinate grass seed? I was thinking that because of the pre-emergent, I'll have to use sod to replace any bare lawn areas.
I have a smallish lawn. How long does this last once it is mixed? I really like your videos. very informative, easy to follow. I like your teaching style.
As a former turf care specialist I noticed that right away, and it's the easier to control yellow oxalis. And don't spend your hard earned dollars on a commercial surfactant, 1 ounce of liquid dish soap per gallon of water, much less expensive and just as effective. Lastly, a dye! Only for people that don't pay attention to their spray pattern. P.S. 6:45 That is clover
Finally purchased everything and was able to use your video instruction! The blue dye makes a mess! On my second mix I used a Dixie cup that I marked for 1 oz. Easier clean up!
Great video. I just applied tenacity to my lawn last night (4/29/20) and was curious if I needed to wait a certain timeframe to mow/ dethatch/ fertilize. Thanks
Clover is healthy for lawns. It releases nitrogen into the soil and forms a mutually beneficial symbiosis with grass. The very reason you don't know that is because of the chemical fertilizer lobby. and why the original grass seeds used for lawns had it. it is also a durable turf.
Great straightforward video. Thank you. Quick question: what are the best times of the year to apply and how often per season can one apply ? Thanks again, Ariel M (North Jersey)
Part of my yard gets a ton of clover, and honestly I think it looks awesome (until the grass pokes through). Is there a way to eliminate the grass and let the clover take over?
I actually mixed on purpose some clover & daisy seeds into grass seeds to make the lawn less boring. Sowing clover only would be too expensive and I wanted some variety, not only one species.
the clover will do that over time as it replaces the nitrogen the grass takes up ... but you can move patches of about 1foot square and relay them all over in a checkerboard fashion which will promote the clover to spread faster ... . also clover flowers are a nice tea as well ...
I love clover too and instead of grass seed, I've been spreading clover seeds instead. It's self fertilizing and doesn't get as tall as grass which means less mowing is needed. Lawns are boring when it's just grass. I'd rather have a meadow full of flowers.
@@timbuck1970 some people measure it out, I'd say use 2oz or more in a 2 gallon sprayer, I don't measure it bc it's only used to make the weed killer stick to the weed once dried. It's not going to kill the weed or grass by itself. More less act as a glue once dried.
I've been using Ortho WEED B GONE over the years and have gotten good results. Clovers, crab grass, dandelion chic weed, you name it. If you aren't good a mixing, prepared hose attachment premixed formula works as well.
I just sprayed my lawn with this exact formula today. Crazy amount of crabgrass, clovers, dandelions, and common broadleaf weeds. At this point, I got nothing to lose. 😂 My lawn looks like shit.
@@christopherpoore I picked up the tenacity kit and already applied 2 applications. A week and a half apart. I went pretty heavy on the first app and after several days most of the weeds were turning white. I might blast the lawn one more time for good measure then overseed.
Hey, this video is so helpful with my lawn situation and I will use the Tenacity mixture. But I have two questions, is it best to cut the lawn first then spray the mixture on the trouble spots? And second, when the areas are dead and white can I apply grass fertilizer and turf builder to the lawn? Your answers will be greatly appreciated!!
Most lawn applications require you to not mow 2 days before and 2 days after your application. Adding a turf builder or seed can help fill in the space quicker, but leaving it empty and letting your turf grow into the space works too, it just takes longer.
I have this product. I was a tight wad, I did not use the surfactant. Got no good results. Try the surfactant and it worked wonderful. The syringe is a pain in the ass. I use a measuring teaspoon.
Yoel Reinoso it took 2 separate sprayings, but yes it works. Just about all of the crab grass and clovers are white as a bed sheet. My yard looks awful now, but I know that it will even be as beautiful as the finished product in this video. This stuff works well.
Great video... Thank you for sharing! I intend to follow this video and your Fix an Ugly lawn video step by step. I just have a quick question regarding Tenacity... What if I apply to my lawn and it rains a day or two later? Do I need to reapply? Thanks again!
If I want to use Tenacity as well as aerate, over seed and fertilize, how long do I have to wait in between each of these steps? I guess the biggest wait would be between Tenacity and over seeding but let me know.
I will definitely consider using this formula. I generally have pretty good results with the ortho weed b gone with crabgrass control, but it probably would be cheaper to use tenacity. Therefore, I might switch this year.
Watched and subbed. Thanks for the consice and informative video. Sometimes I feel like I have to remove my entire lawn and start over with new sod. Your advice gives me a viable option to spending thousands... Thank you sir 🙏
I felt the same way.. this advice has given me hope as well.. We had such a beautiful yard in the beginning when it was a new lawn but we didn’t have Irigation so it eventually went to hell because we just couldn’t water properly.. but now we recently just had Irigation put in, but it’s so overwhelming with how bad our lawn has become with every weed imaginable... there is still some grass there if you look hard enough, not sure if this would help me because I feel like I would have to spray my entire lawn with this.. now that it’s almost June pretty sure it’s to late to aerate and reseed...
Thanks for an interesting n informative video. I had problems controlling weeds especially clovers but no longer have a problem. It was with hands/knees weeding n vinegar/surfactant/dye. For years utilized NON-TOXIC methods because of family dogs. Your video has provided another alternative. Kudos for video. Looking forward to your next one.
A seeming serious caveat is how this doesn't work well on warm season grass. Zoysia may damage at any exposure and is so slow growing that it's effectively permanent. St. Augustine also takes months to recover. Meanwhile, the thing that actually comes back (and quickly) is the clover and crabgrass. I now have a higher percentage of clover and crabgrass in treated areas because most everything died, but the thing that recovered and/or grows fastest was weeds--but this time without competition from the grass. I may be worse off for having used. Packaging only states: (microscopically buried on page 6 of 15) "...may cause temporary whitening of turfgrass foliage." (microscopically buried on page 7 of 15) "...zoysiagrass...are sensitive to Tenacity applications." (prominent chart on page 8 of 15) "Tenacity has been tested on these species and found to be safe..."; St. Augustine is listed with an asterisk, directing more reading. St. Aug is next mentioned on page 13 and says "St. Augustinegrass (sod uses only)" --and I don't know why presumably new and healthy sod would need treatment (if that's the meaning). A prominent statement on front saying which grasses need not apply would have been helpful.

You gave me hope when I had none! After about a month of using tenacity, I feel the tide has turned. I'm seeing fewer and fewer weeds and the grass is taking over.
I found that just controlling the soil’s PH levels completely rid my lawn of clover, weeds and crab grass.
How did you flourish the lawn ? or how did you change the PH level of the lawn ? Many thanks.
He said it in his comment. He added pot ash.

Yeah I think he meant Portland cement, but are we seriously supposed to sprinkle cement dust on our grass? Wouldn't lime sweeten the ph too?

@@SilverCymbal Hello. I missed the fall application of tenacity. I was wondering if March is okay to apply the mixture in Ohio

One of the best lawn/weed control blogs I've seen (and I've been looking extensively). Thanks very much.
I got lost. Lol.

Excellent video. A few questions: When is the best time to do this? When in the process can I cut the lawn? Should I use grass seed after a few weeks?
Thank you!
I would very much appreciate answers to a few questions:
* Do I apply this in spring, summer, fall, any time?
* How long should I wait to apply this after cutting the grass?
* I assume the grass needs to be dry. How long after the application should I wait to water?
* You are spot treating in this video. Can I / should I apply this to an entire lawn?
You can apply it everytime in the year but not in the winter of course. Grass shouldn’t be mowed 2 days before and after application. I think same is for watering. And yes you can put it onto whole lawn. If you follow the instructions your good grass will not be killed
@@bikerlawni6617 Thank you!
“And may the odds be ever in your favor!”
How long after spraying weed killer can you weed?
Ambrose Leahy thanks 🙏🏻

I've been trying to get clover to spread. I love it. Lives perfectly with the grass too.
Clover is a nitrogen fixing plant and actually improves your soil and lawn as well as providing flowers for polinators.
Yes! I hate crabgrass but I welcome white clover in my lawn. It attracts bees and small butterflies, and smells great when in bloom.
I just treated my backyard as outlined above for the 5th time since the end of March. I am finally seeing some progress.
Clover:
All applications seem to have helped with clover right from the start but, the crabgrass has been very stubborn.
Crabgrass:
Parts of it turn white but other parts of the same clump stay green and or over time (1 week) the white parts return to green and some actually do die.
Worth it. Crabgrass kinda just said, "Hey Bro..whatdaya think your dewin?"
Good luck to all as the battle continues.
How soon did you apply after the first treatment?
@@jsustaeta6741 My question exactly, ...how often are you spraying @Benzius Benzima ?
I only have done it once, 10 days ago to be exact, saw about 10% of the treated area turn white, the rest looks as if not even treated. I've watered the yard because it needed it and 90% of the crabgrass is all nice and green taking over.
Ha ha. I'm trying to replace my grass with clover. It's great. Now I mow a lot less often because there's so few grass blades growing AND my yard looks like a nice bio - diversified meadow that includes wild carrots and strawberries.

Glad to help This really works and if you get it you will have the sam results too. Thanks for the nice words.
If re-seeding is necessary, will grass seed germinate in areas treated w/ Tenacity? Great info.

Hi, does tenacity works for your lawn? Thank you!
Is this okay to use in zone 6? What time of year do you recommend doing this? Does the yard need to be wet or dry? Thank you!
Did you got an answer?
I would like 2 know how often you can apply the product
Part of my yard gets a ton of clover, and honestly I think it looks awesome (until the grass pokes through). Is there a way to eliminate the grass and let the clover take over?
I'm intuitively thinking, overseed with more clover?
I actually mixed on purpose some clover & daisy seeds into grass seeds to make the lawn less boring. Sowing clover only would be too expensive and I wanted some variety, not only one species.
the clover will do that over time as it replaces the nitrogen the grass takes up ... but you can move patches of about 1foot square and relay them all over in a checkerboard fashion which will promote the clover to spread faster ...
.
also clover flowers are a nice tea as well ...
I like clover too. Cutting your lawn at 4 inch height once per week the clover thrive.
I love clover too and instead of grass seed, I've been spreading clover seeds instead. It's self fertilizing and doesn't get as tall as grass which means less mowing is needed. Lawns are boring when it's just grass. I'd rather have a meadow full of flowers.
You can use dawn dish soap or baby shampoo instead of buying expensive surfactant. Once dried it does the same thing.
wow thanks
You can use this with all the weed treatments, including your broadleaf weed control.
Yea a guy that does lawn care told me the same thing, I've been using it with my weed killer and herbicide
Do you use the same amount of dawn as described in the video?
Keep us posted!!
I want to know results
yeah keep us up to date!!
@@christopherpoore I picked up the tenacity kit and already applied 2 applications. A week and a half apart. I went pretty heavy on the first app and after several days most of the weeds were turning white. I might blast the lawn one more time for good measure then overseed.
Very helpful, Well done video it’s very professional, I love clobber but not on the grass, I aloud It to grow on controlled flowerbeds,!thank you!
Thank you very much
You love "clobber" but not on the grass ? What is "clobber" and why can't it be on the grass ? And it is "allowed" not "aloud". Sheesh.
I bought the Tenacity, the Lazer, and the Superfactant. Tomorrow morning I will be spraying the crab grass in my lawn. Pray for my lawn.
Well? Lol
Please let us know how it goes, I ordered yesterday.
Yoel Reinoso it took 2 separate sprayings, but yes it works. Just about all of the crab grass and clovers are white as a bed sheet. My yard looks awful now, but I know that it will even be as beautiful as the finished product in this video. This stuff works well.
Justin Hall after 2 sprayings, it works very well.
Same question.
Y'all got answers for the new guy yet??
Tenacity doesn't bother seed germination
I will definitely consider using this formula. I generally have pretty good results with the ortho weed b gone with crabgrass control, but it probably would be cheaper to use tenacity. Therefore, I might switch this year.
Hi, when is the best time to do this process? Thanks in advance.
Looks like I’m spraying my entire lawn🤣🤣
Watched and subbed. Thanks for the consice and informative video. Sometimes I feel like I have to remove my entire lawn and start over with new sod. Your advice gives me a viable option to spending thousands... Thank you sir 🙏
Thank you very much
I felt the same way.. this advice has given me hope as well.. We had such a beautiful yard in the beginning when it was a new lawn but we didn’t have Irigation so it eventually went to hell because we just couldn’t water properly.. but now we recently just had Irigation put in, but it’s so overwhelming with how bad our lawn has become with every weed imaginable... there is still some grass there if you look hard enough, not sure if this would help me because I feel like I would have to spray my entire lawn with this.. now that it’s almost June pretty sure it’s to late to aerate and reseed...
thanks for the info. I needed this tutorial-for my new lawn, full of undesirable weeds.
Thanks for an interesting n informative video. I had problems controlling weeds especially clovers but no longer have a problem. It was with hands/knees weeding n
vinegar/surfactant/dye. For years utilized NON-TOXIC methods because of family dogs. Your video has provided another
alternative.
Packaging only states:
(microscopically buried on page 6 of 15) "...may cause temporary whitening of turfgrass foliage."
(microscopically buried on page 7 of 15) "...zoysiagrass...are sensitive to Tenacity applications."
(prominent chart on page 8 of 15) "Tenacity has been tested on these species and found to be safe..."; St.
Hi, thanks for the info...I have Centirpede grass in my lawn,,,will this Tenacity kill like Zoysia?
Shucks I’m reading this after the fact I just sprayed on my zoysia 😞
Just one question. When can I reseed the lawn after application of the mixture of Tenacity?
I just recently learned about crabgrass... It has taken over a lot of my front yard, and some of my back yard :| I'm definitely gonna get some of this Tenacity stuff
