Yea keep that in mind.. Morpheus does NOT appreciate his authority challenged ...by ANYONE....again ANYONE. That will become clearer.
It's an interesting point that the Corinthian never lies, he just omits a LOT of details.
He for sure lies to Jed saying that Rose sent him.
@@my5head Oops, I made this comment twice! Oh well, same answer as the other one; Rose gave out a bunch of flyers asking people to find Jed and contact her. She didn't ask the Corinthian directly but he was handed a flyer.
@@GriffinPilgrim no, asking for information and sending him to retrieve are very different things. That was straight up a lie. She didn't directly or indirectly send the Corinthian to Jed.
@@my5head It's misleading wording, certainly. But Rose requested that people find Jed Walker then contact her. It is not so great stretch to call that sending people to find him.
The Corinthian is deliberately being deceptive to make Jed trust him but he isn't lying. He also clarifies the matter moments later, telling Jed straight up that he's never met his sister and showing him the flyer. He's still hiding a lot of context as to why he got involved and what he did to get there of course but he's upfront about what he meant by "sent."
@@GriffinPilgrim I suppose it's one of those things that depends on individual perception. In my eyes, misleading and deceptions are lies. I can understand how other people would see it differently.
While I feel bad for the social worker dying, I also had panic attacks watching her. My little sister's worker was just like her and wouldn't let me get in contact with her. She said I had to leave my information and that my sister would get it after she turned 18. My little sister was killed at 17. I'll never forgive the system for not letting us see eachother again.
I'm so sorry for your loss! ❤️
Dream's temper was something shown a lot better in the comic. He has always had a temper. Dream imprisoned Nada the African princess in Hell and she's been there for thousands of years. All because Dream has a temper. Dream has been like this since the beginning of time. It would take a lot for him to change.
I'm a sleep walker/talker (active sleeper they call it) and one of the favorite stories my family likes to tell is of a time when I slept over my grandparents house and was in the bed with them (I was very young) and they woke up to me screaming "Help Help! I caught a Pelican!" and apparently I was on my knees at the foot of the bed, leaning out over the drop off point of it waving my upper body around franticly while miming holding on to a bird's feet that was trying to fly me over the edge. I vaguely remember a dream of a bird pulling me toward a cliff and yelling for help as I grabbed a hold of the feet that were holding me so it couldn't drop me... I was maybe 5-6 at the time and I'm in my mid 40s now but that doesn't stop my family from teasing me about it STILL! 😭🤣
I have to admit: I was surprised that The Sandman made it to the screen. It's an incredibly complex story for being a comic and because of that complexity I was surprised at its appearance in a series.
A series however was more appropriate as a medium for this story.
It makes a LOT more sense than the various attempts to make it into a movie...
those who've read the graphic novels can enjoy the show just as well as those who haven't. gaiman is the exec so he's able to properly retell the comic in a different form.
Now I really wanted Grant Morrison could retell The story of "The Invisibles" as a tv series
FYI: In 1974 Jack Kirby create a new comic book named after main character called the Sandman, whose costume is the one Jed is wearing. Jed was also a newly created supporting cast member of that comic. That version was the 2nd DC superhero character with the name Sandman (Garrett Sandford), the first being Wesley Dodds from the 1940's. Sandford's adventures, with the help of 2 assistants, involved him going into peoples dream to save them from evil forces, which is what Jed thinks he's doing. Even his headquarters are like Sanford's. This comic was short-lived. About 15 years later a new writer used Hector, the son of Hawkman and Hawkgirl who had been a Superhero before, to replace the 1970's Sandman and take over his role. Gaiman took these backstories and incorporated them into his comics. Here in the show they are not used the super-hero backstory so the characters have slightly different roles.
I love the idea that nightmares serve to help you process unpleasant things while asleep. Dreams are such an interesting and personal topic. You asked … And it’s fun to take a minute to think about it. When I was a kid there was a period during which I had vivid flying dreams every night. They were super cool. I also had frequent déjà vu during the day as a kid, which was also very entertaining. They very slowly became less frequent until I became a young adult. I would briefly slip in and out of the sort of waking dreams in which I am doing random things or being in random places from the recent past. In my mid-40, the déjà vu came back, and turned out to be A component of pre-seizure auras. After I was diagnosed with epilepsy and medications got my seizures under control I didn’t have any déjà vu anymore, which was kind of a disappointment. These days I dream, or remember my dreams, rarely. When I do they are A lot like my prior déjà vu dreams, like a string of vignettes, each an amusing combination of seemingly random things from Real Life combined in one scene. I don’t know, maybe some of this story is interesting to some other people.
I used to work the early morning shift in a shop so would get up around 4.30am every day and walk past my sisters room where she was sleeping and one morning she yelled ‘I’VE GOT LEGS!’ 😂 I opened her door and asked her if she was ok and all I got was a snort as she started snoring 😂😂😂
I was surprised how much I enjoyed Sandman.
I hope they show Delirium. I'm interested how they'll portray her.
Was she based on Tori Amos? It’d be cool if tori amos would make a cameo
@@m.e.3862 Neil said, "Hi", by the way
Love this show. So happy a second season has been approved.
One of the main storylines of this story is adaptability of the Gods and their survival. And Dream having to come to terms with the fact that it is his relationship with humanity that matters as Death tried to tell him a few episodes ago.
So glad that you have returned to Sandman, can't wait for the next episode!
Don't forget there is a bonus episode after the season finale
I’m so happy that Sandman has gotten a second season! There is SO much story to come. This comic has been hailed as one of the most critically acclaimed comics ever!
Also remember, Dream is not our hero or our protagonist. He is the conduit through which we all enter into this realm. His greatest fault is his intense sense of duty and responsibility, disregarding any morals or emotions. His decisions as a god and immortal being are very different from our mortal perspectives.
It made my heart happy when Nikki said pet rats are awesome. I love how open minded she is to things that other people dislike simply because they're different than what you expect, like the B&B people.
I love that too. It’s been interesting seeing how different reactors react to the people in that house. Very telling.
I used to have two pet rats, Aspen and Shadow. Aspen was a hooded rat, while Shadow was a black rat.
The sleeping sickness is based on a real pandemic of Encephalitis lethargica that happened roughly between 1915-1930. It affected 5 million people, 1.6 million of which died from it, and those that recovered rarely recovered fully. About 1 in 5,000 people live to be 100, so out of 5 mil that would be 1000, minus the 1.6 mil that died is roughly 700, because people rarely recovered fully lets be generous and say maybe 100 could have lived to 100, anyone who caught it prior to 1922 or was older than 8 years old has probably died of old age by now even if they did live to a hundred. I think there being 0-3 survivors alive today is about right. I don't think the show planned for this, but about now isn't a bad guess for the sole survivor of that pandemic being alive.
"The possibilities of creating people's dreams are... ENDLESS !" - see why the family is called that now ?
My common nightmares include: Running away from a serial killer and feeling like my legs are made of lead; trying to find a classroom at school and getting lost and running late; teeth falling out; falling.
11:31 *Unity* being the only survivor of the sleeping sickness isn't terribly astonishing, as it happened long ago. It's like how we're losing people who fought during World War II.
1928 seems to be the most recent occurrence of it, so it’s possible, but unlikely that there would be any survivors of it alive now.
Just an FYI, all the villains Jed mentioned - and the Pied Piper - are all DC Comics villains.
Johnny Sorrow I could see actually finding his way into the Dreaming...
@@GriffinPilgrim I had that same thought.
Wasn't there a chapter in the comic book where there were actual DC super heroes dreaming?
@@iagreewithyou3478 Sort of; The Golden Age hero Wesley Dodds aka Sandman was established as being influenced by having a piece of Morpheus in his soul, John Dee wasn't just John Dee but the Justice League supervillain Doctor Destiny so the ruby was being held by the League after they defeated him so Morpheus had to meet with Mr Miracle and Martian Manhunter to find it and from this story Hector and Lyta were both former superheroes, the Silver Scarab and the Fury respectively. There's more but that's from after the current season.
Yay, so glad to see another episode! Based on y'all's reactions, I'm VERY excited to see the finale through your eyes. Re: Dreams, I only remember nightmares, but the worst ones are when I'm trying to do something incredibly important, but more and more obstacles - from the fantastic to the mundane - get in the way, so I wake up frantic and stressed.
My common nightmares involve either falling or having an encounter with a snake. I still remember the last nightmare I had that involved a snake. I was laying down in a field, and I could feel a huge snake (Python? Boa constrictor?) crawling across my legs, very slowly. I could feel the weight and everything. It was AWFUL!
I love this show so much. Beautifully made.
This episode is excellent and it's a slight departure from the graphic novel. Jed being Sandman is fun. In the comics The Sandman superhero look was created by Jack Kirby and his name was Hector. He was helping Jed in his dreams alongside his wife, Lyta who ran the monitor board. It's interesting what they're doing with Lyta and Hector here. Corinthian's teeth for eye is pretty creepy. The tenants dreams are pretty fun and Martin Tenbones is great.
Great to hear your weird dreams. I was at Universal when there was Jaws and Battlestar Galactica. How's that for aging myself. :p
Jack Kirby _and_ Joe Simon (whose last name I have a bad habit of mixing up with Walt Simonson’s). 😉
just remember after u finish the normal season there 2 more bonus episodes !!
You two are awesome! Nikki has the best reaction faces and Steven has the best attitude!
I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching your experiences. If I made more cash, I'd definitely patreon, but for now at least I've got UA-cam premium
This episode has lots of DC’s Easter Eggs, starting with Jed that resembles to the original Jack Kirby’s Sandman
You were wondering about the dead husband dreams... 2 years ago I lost my wife of 20 years to a long illness. The dreams came a lot at first, but are now maybe once or twice a month. They are always a variation on realizing "she walks into the room, there was a mistake, she's still here, everything's ok".... then I wake up. There's a melancholy reliving of her loss each time. I never go back to sleep that night if I have that dream, even if it's 2am, I'm afraid it will continue just for me to wake up again.
omg I've had so many weird dreams. My oldest son sleeps with his eyes open and be saying some freaky shit in his dreams. My youngest son sometimes sleepwalks. He once got up and took a bath while sleeping. crazy.
always great to see your reactions to Sandman. cant wait for season 2
Funny how normal human is more intimidating than half the villains in this show.
Makes me think of venomous animals, and how some of the smallest species turn out to be the most potent in their toxicity.
That actor is great. He'll be playing Adar in Rings of Power. Looking forward to it.
My bf had sleepingwalking issues when we moved into a new apartment (they went away, it was a reaction to an unfamiliar environment). One night, he walked out while I was asleep, crossed the hall, and entered the apartment of people who had just moved in and were having a mellow post move gathering with wine. He was butt naked...they screamed when the chubby naked asian stranger walked into their living room. He panicked, still asleep, and fled to the bedroom, screaming my name and yelling "There are people in our apartment!!" It was when he entered the bedroom and found it decorated differently and without me in the bed...that he woke up, and promptly fled the building, leading the stunned witnesses on a chase as they tried to capture evidence with their cellphones. Its after midnight, Im dead asleep, and I'm woken by a panicked shove and pleas for help. He says he sleptwalked, I mumble its just a dream, come back to bed, and he says no...i woke up and people chased me. We left an apology note to all the residents and started locking the doors and blocking them with chairs each night until we were sure it wasn't likely to happen again. THAT is my weird sleep tale. As for me, years ago...I once got slapped awake for mumbling an ex lovers name in my sleep...in the dream they were in trouble, and were calling out to me, but I couldnt reach them or help them. I remember calling their name, wanting to let them know I was trying...and then POW!...I was awake...and my now-ex lover was PISSED!
You might enjoy the movie Stardust, also based on the writing of Neil Gaiman. It would make a fun movie night!
Or American Gods, or Good Omens.
I talk in my sleep & say freaky stuff. My brother told me that I once told him that cats know the secrets of the universe & if they like you then they’ll whisper some of the secrets in your ear while you sleep
The craziest dream I ever had felt like something from Alice in Wonderland.
I dreamt I was at my grandparents house and just goofing around when I found 3 doors that had not been there before. The first door lead to the garden, where a squirrel yelled at me for being close to his nest.
The second door lead me to the forest nearby where the trees were gigantic.
The final door took longer to get through. The corridors were unlit, so I could not see anything, I just kept my hand on the wall and walked until I reached a new door. This one lead me to a small island in the middle of a stormy ocean. The waves were steel gray with foam on the tops. The island was covered in peat and marshland, and the colours were orange, yellow and red. I walked around for a bit, but the island was not big, and so soon I had seen everything. But I realized there was no way back! So I started crying. But then I heard a bell, and then I saw 3 wild sheep walking towards me. The oldest, a ram, had a bell around his neck. The other two was a mother sheep and her lamb. They stopped and looked at me, then turned around as if they wanted me to follow them. And so I did, and they lead me over a bridge and to a door I had not seen previously. The door lead me back to my grandparents house
Who else knew this ep was going to bring out the mighty mama bear in Nikki?
So while you can't deny jeb was not being well taken care of but technically I'm pretty certain the rat was from his dream and he pulled it threw t the waking world when he woke up. That being said I don't think his foster parents would of cared if there were like abunch of rats living in the room with the kid
I constantly talk in my sleep as if I'm handling a call at work. I'm a customer service agent for a credit card company. My wife wakes me up telling she doesn't have an card number to give me. It's been like this with every job. I had an argument with her about donuts, in my sleep, when I worked at a bakery. I feel bad for her so much. She finds it very amusing to tell everyone.
“Wake up. You’re talking in your sleep again.”
“Just a minute, dear. I’m on a call with a Mr. Morpheus. Says a younger sibling has been making unauthorized purchases with his card.”
Rose has such a nice voice. I'm kinda jealous.
Really eally felt sorry for Gault, she only wants to help Jed.
Morpheus is changing but he's not there yet
Hey Steven and Nikki! I don't know if this has been asked a lot but are you planning on watching the Andor? This show is an absolute masterpiece and your reaction is the only reaction I wanna watch
We aren’t. Andor was watched off camera.
Can't wait for you reaction to the next episode. One of my favorites
Please react to peaky blinders! Tommy would definitely be one of your dudes
I've got some crazy dream stuff for you! I had night terrors as a toddler. Would wake my parents from my screaming...they'd run into my room and I'd be sitting upright screaming and crying with a terrorized, glassy look in my eyes. I was not truly awake but appeared to be. Understandably, it terrified my parents.
As an older kid, I had recurring nightmares that felt incredibly real. In the dreams, I would be going about my daily routine stuff with my family, but something would draw my attention away and I'd leave the room. Now, hang with me on this and remember this was when I was around 6-9 years old (it would recur multiple times per month over those years, with various scenarios but the same result). After leaving the room in my dreams, two guys would jump out (one tall and skinny; one short and fat), grab me, and shove me in an old trunk, like the ones people used for travelling in the old days. Then these jerks would tickle me (again, remember I was a kid) and I would jolt awake in bed...WITH ACTUAL GOOSEBUMPS LIKE I'D JUST BEEN TICKLED! It was horrifying! It felt so completely real that I had serious trouble getting to sleep because I knew I would fall into that dream again. It got to the point where I was becoming lucid during the dreams and knew I needed to stay with my family and not leave them but I'd be compelled to anyhow and would know the dudes were coming. I would be "telling" myself to wake up in the dream but just couldn't and it had to play out each time.
Sooo, that's my crazy dream stuff. I also apparently sleep walk, especially during my teenage years. I'd go out and have full conversations, make snacks, and change my pajamas without any recollection at all. It was clear to my family that I wasn't totally awake and we sure have some interesting stories from those nights.
Keeping doing Sandman, I love it!!!!!!
You want crazy dream stories? I often have lucid dreams, meaning I realise I'm in a dream while dreaming, and one of three things happens. One: I wake up as soon as I realise I'm dreaming, and the way the world transitions from dream to reality is wacky. Imagine starting a fire in the middle of a piece of paper and it burning outward. That is what happens, holes emerge and expand like Doctor Strange portals, dissolving my dream world, and through the holes I see the real world because my real eyes are open. It lasts about 3 seconds, and for those 3 seconds I'm still in my dream body, in my dream world, but through the holes I can see what my real body sees, and it is such a crazy experience. Two: My brain tricks me into thinking I woke up. Number one happens, but instead of waking into the real world, I wake into another dream. This used to work really well and I'd never realise I'm still dreaming and go back to sleep, but because it has happened so many times I've got wise to it, and about 50% of the time I instantly realise I'm still dreaming and wake up just like number one. Three: This is the rarest and most crazy. I realise I'm dreaming and don't wake up. When this happens I can feel my body in the real world and it is bizarre, like having two bodies at once. I can move my real body in this state, but only just, it feels like its in 10x gravity and takes an enormous amount of effort just to move my arms slightly. I hate being stuck in the dream world so I usually wake myself by using my real arms to slap myself, pinch myself, or open eyelids. Before I worked out how to control my real body, I used to try and kill myself in the dream to wake me up. This is the creepiest thing that happened: I was killing myself over and over again, respawning somewhere new every time I "died," eventually I respawned into a magical glass elevator 150ft above a field at night, and I could see below me that in this field was a single figure. The elevator slowly descended, and when it reached the bottom I approached the figure. It was wearing a black robe obscuring its face, It looked exactly like a Nazgul from Lord of the Rings, and it had a book in its hands that it was offering to me, that seemed to be a register for death, you sign your name in the book and you die. This made me think I was dead for real, and the moment I accepted my death and decided to take the book, I woke up. And even waking up was crazy, because for a split second, it felt like I was struck by lightning and I could feel everything around my real body. The wall beside me, the bed beneath me, the closet in the corner, the door in front of me, ect. I'm an atheist and I don't believe in psychics or ghosts or anything like that, but to this day that experience is a lingering doubt in my mind, and probably will be until the day I die.
AllBrave, these odd creative dreams seem somewhat familiar. Do you have epilepsy? yeah, probably not, but I had to ask.
OMG! YES! Trying to dial a phone number in a dream is 100% impossible! I don't remember ever getting one right
I wanna see yall react to warrior nun 🔥 I think ya might like it
I once dreamed I was in a huge white dining room with a long table covered with rotten food and maggots, and there were DOZENS of dead snakes hanging from the ceiling. Pretty bizarre stuff.
Speaking of possibilities, Lyta is a very open doorway to many stories, even crossovers. Did you know that her full name is Lyta Trevor-Hall? Maiden name *Hippolyta* Trevor... _Diana_ and Steve Trevor's daughter. Well, that's comics stuff anyway, dunno bout the show change, but considering they cast a mixed-middle eastern actress...
The Corinthian feeds his victims eyeballs into his teeth eyes, so he can see everything they had seen.
I used to sleepwalk and sleeptalk when I was younger, it would freak my sister out 😂😂😂 I also had sleep paralysis, which is the absolute worst (think Nellie from Haunting of Hill House). It can still happen but it's rarer now that I'm older
Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence in the foster care system.
I've never sleep walked, but I do talk in my sleep. I've even woken up mid-sentence. I said something completely random and was sitting up for a bit after waking like "...What? WTF did I just say? What did that even mean?"
2:10 ...well they are the Endless
Hi guys, are you planning to react to Wednesday (Addams) on Netflix? I think you would love that show.
Yes, please!
My best/worst dream: I live a life of despair and ruin and I wake up from that awful dream and get to be with my wife and 5 children. She asks me about my dream and I tell her it was horrible because my family didn't exist there. But here in the real world, I have become a successful writer (finally) and have been a teacher for 10 years. We finally have enough money to build the house of our dreams and are getting ready to move into it. I know each of my children and their names and everything about them and they are wonderful.
THEN -- I really wake up and that dream of a life of despair and ruin is the REAL world. I am alone in my bed and I weep like I have never wept before.
Love your reactions. Have you caught Interview with the Vampire?
"Intriguing" and "fascinating" are two fairly useful alternatives to "interesting".
If the waking up with a numb arm continues, you might check with your doctor. Could be early sign of heart attack or stroke.
hi, i love your reactions. i just want to ask if maybe you could react to warrior nun, it's really good and not half as cheesy as the name suggests
Crazy dream, not being able to wake up, being stuck in the dream, i had that , spooky stuff
Not the point, but will you guys watch Dead Boy Detectives? It's a spin-off of The Sandman and The Endless make a few appearances in the show
Dream is the king of nightmares as well. Basically, he’s a dick at times
Interesting reaction🙃
As some cultures believe in....the eyes are the window to the soul....so the corinthian could be feasting on souls....
According to the comics no (Dream wouldn't create a soul eater, he knows better than to try and take souls) but he can see whatever the victim has seen.
@@GriffinPilgrim thank you for clarifying . An interesting story and tv adaptation nonetheless
Can you guys react to Netflix’s Wednesday??
I want a Corinthian & Jed road trip spinoff.
Considering how things went in the movie, if Bettlejuice and Lydia could have their own animated series together, I guess yours is not too unreasonable of an idea. 😄
@@0okamino I hadn't considered that it might be animated, but I like it!
Corinthian is charming as fuck
I highly recommend watch some movie adaptions of Neil Gaiman's novels: CORALINE and STAR DUST are two great ones.
I slept-walked as a kid and tried to open my front door. Not great. Don't know if I do it anymore, but I would talk too. "The moon people won't give me a piece of paper." "The cheese has been saying goodnight since this morning." Gems. I liked The Sandman as a whole, but if I never have to watch episode 4 again, it'll be too soon.
The idea was that an amateur took over for the master. Dream would never let the rats in - unless it was a deserved nightmare. Just imagine how horrible it would be if you were having a great, impowering dream, and then you were killed by lowly vermin. Dream understands what he does intrinsically, and he knows how easy it is for others to f**k it up. Doesn't mean he won't adapt in some ways, but The Dreaming is sacred, holy, untouchable by others. It's His realm -- all others need not apply.
Is ANDOR coming? Seems like you guys would like the show.

There's a hilarious website called "sleep talking man" where a woman records and uploads the crazy shit her husband says in his sleep.
Not sure but I think I hear your cameras focus sort of "croaking" in the back ground.
Will you be reacting to Wednesday?
Steven bruh haven't been paying attention, did u see the Andor finale? It was epic
Paying attention to what? Yeah, been watching Andor every week.
Omg, Outlander no, unless you have a bottomless appetite for bodice-ripping Novels. The first two or three seasons are very interesting, then it slides into quite poor dialogue, although the costumes continue to be amazing. Clearly, no one but the heroine continues to enjoy her work,
