That top water strike was insane even on camera, I’m sure in your memory it’s even crazier. That was a tough loss, but let’s be honest hooking a tuna that big from shore is like showing up to a gunfight with a squirt gun 😂
Hooked up on a 12ft sturgeon once and when I saw the thing breach I instantly knew I was screwed! same exact thing happened. 😅 I stood no chance! all I was going for was stripper so at least seeing a sturgeon that big was cool but I'd probably have lost it even if I came prepared.
Not many people in their life get to live what you did that day. Absolutely incredible. No big deal that the fish got away tp live. You have the experience and video for life. Incredible!
I had the same experience in Norway with a giant halibut. Threw out a half-pound saithe in a strait and hooked on something that took all line and snapped it like a sewing thread. Before I caught fish up to 20 kg but this was on a whole other level. I will never know how big it was.
The sound of the drag just burning with that monster on the other end gave me a smile. It’s not everyday you catch something “too big”. That rod and reel are screaming “watch me go”. 😂
If you fish for 100 kg tunas, you must be prepared for 200 kg tunas.... But in the end, any of them can throw you on the rocks instead you throwing them over the rocks.....That is fishing! You never know what runs around your lure..... Fantastic video! Congrats my friend!!!!
I don't think there were any tuna's over 110kg caught from shore. Even with the best tackle in the world you stand very little chance. Must be an amazing feeling to fight such a majestic creature...can't wait to get out there next year. Well done Ivan.

Epic fight! That is the thrill of the sport. All my most memorable fish were the ones that got away. I once hooked a goliath grouper... on 40lb test line. I stood no chance... but for 3 minutes... we battled and I felt his might. Another time, a 12ft Hammerhead took my redfish. Nothing short of steel cable would have landed it... but I did get to engage with it for a brief time... feel its fury and power. Those are the moments. You got to live it... and caught it on camera. GREAT STUFF
The things we go through to land the big one, watching you reminded me of the day I caught a 7.5 foot stugion at 225pounds that took me an hour to get it in. It was totally out of strength and sweated like a pig at the end, but it was worth every minute of it, and to see that fish slowly swim away brought such joy over me that nothing else in this world could compare to it. Good for you in not giving in. Great video, nicely done, and I hope your ankle is doing better. Remember to keep that line tight 😊😊
The reel drag on the line steadily increases as the spool line diameter decreases due to the fish taking line (removing line from the reel spool). Therefore as the line diameter decreases, you must loosen the drag on the reel, otherwise the line will not be able to withstand the increased drag and will break. Regardless, the fish was too big to land from shore with that equipment. Excellent video. Loved seeing the fish take the hook!
I hooked a 200lb BFT on a striped bass rig with 20lb braid. I had the fish for maybe seven minutes before the hooks pulled straight. We were on a boat, obviously. We had been fishing for tuna all day, hadn't caught anything, and I dropped a little jig to the bottom to try for dinner. It was awesome.
Wow, the adrenaline you were hit with when it struck must’ve been intense. You know it’s big when it looked big from far away on camera. What an experience regardless of landing the fish or not! Good job brother

Wow, super cool to watch and super cool to have that feeling of being totally controlled. Reminds me of a my 200-300kg halibut, outside Frøya in Norway. Fishing 180 meters deep, the bite was firm as a rock, after 5-10 minutes pulling, the shake and level shifting started. 15 minutes later, steady as a rock again. A few minutes past, strong shaking and then, ”the train left the platform”. It all ended 40 minutes later, when the line ran out. That short and intense but still hopeless feeling……😅 Used a Daiwa reel with 750m 0,50mm Fireline + 2m 3mm nylon and a 50lb Shimano TLD.
You did everything right. Massive respect. I don’t think anyone can do any better than you. That fish is just too big and too powerful for anyone to land it from shore. Will need a braid line rating higher than PE10 and length more than 600m to stand a chance to prolong the fight but no guarantee to land it either. Please don’t feel bad . That is an experience of a lifetime. many people has dreamed of a bite like that …. Including me
Tnx man, i agree with facts..yes thicker line but then there is problem of length on spools..this is how it is, simply they dont produce bigger spools at this time! 😊
I landed a 236.6 Lbs yellowfin tuna on a boat a 10 day trip with 26 fisherman. I used a braid 100lb with a 150 floro carbon leader on a live sardine. A 2 speed Okuma n a hybrid carbon rod. It took me 1hr 40 mins n I lost count how many times it crossed over the anchor line!! That was 2017 my personal best for tuna.
@@localguy8 yes, you were on a boat which given you a higher chance to land the fish than from onshore location like this guy. If the fish spools you too much then the boat can chase after the fish to recuperate the fishing line easily. While this guy had no chance since he stucked on the rock onshore. Sound like you used a conventional reel type which would hold a lot more line to play with the fish than a spinning reel.
@localguy8 so a slower tuna, half this size, on a 2 speed conventional reel, from a boat. Basically that experience and this one are so far apart you almost can't call them both the same sport
No kidding ! I'd love to know where that's at, to be able to encounter a fish like that from shore. I will say that if it was me and I knew that there were fish like that swimming out there, I probably would have started off wearing the fighting belt lol.
I lost a Lake Michigan-run sturgeon the same size. Of course they hit your bait on the bottom, so not as exciting as a top water take. Peeled my reel in no time before shaking me off. The power a big fish transfers into your forearms is a memory that will forever be imprinted on your conscious. When these big fish get away, there’s nothing to be upset about as they’ll pass on their genetics or give another angler that special experience. Tight lines brother.
Vidim da ste poper odabrali kao varalicu s kojom ciljano lovite tunu. Jel to jer mislite da je lovnija od ostalog ili jer je tuna ulovljena na povrsini velika prednost omdah u startu ?
You needed a miracle to land that fish. I remember fishing for rock bass as a kid and a carp snatched the bait. Saw it for about half a second before it bolted and snapped my line. I wasn't prepared for that fight lol.
I loved the few seconds when you realized 'F*ck, it's too big....." 😄😄 Been fishing all my lifa and this is the feeling when you know you gonna loose some equipment or become a legend
What a legendary eat! I'll bet you won't be forgetting that Leviathan. Hooking a fish like that top-water is the pinnacle, landing it would have just been gravy. You got the best part of that fish hardwired into your memory now.
That was EPIC!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you were done before the fight begun! No way on a spinner rig! You eventually would have gotten spooled... Best fishing video ever posted anywhere!
Impressive! I now have the feeling I was out fishing for sea trout in the Baltic Sea but caught a giant salmon instead. I did everything I could and learned but after a 40 minute fight it did just like the tuna in the video, the feeling of the fight is still in every fiber of my body it was at least 15 years since it happened.

Used a Daiwa reel with 750m 0,50mm Fireline + 2m 3mm nylon and a 50lb Shimano TLD.
That halibut size sounds crazzy 🫢
@@nasticivan Yeah, an unbelievable size, but that was the skippers guess. From my point of view, I’d hooked a submarine😂
Best shore video of tuna ever
Congratulations on this fantastic video and adrenaline dose
Tnx man!
Get the harness you said, I would have been like, bro, get me some water ski's and some water for my reel 😂😂😂😂
Wow! One of the most impressive fishing videos i have ever seen!
Wow, thanks man!
Ivan, my brother. How long have you been working for the FBI? 😂
👍 wow what a memory caught on film !
Thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼
True fisherman: more worried if broken gear than broken knee 😂
What a monster!
Yeap, fck all and keep the gear 😅😅
That was a crazy scrap with a beast! Nice try! Could feel your reel straining on those runs!
Awesome vid! 🤙🏾🤙🏾
jedan među najboljim ribolovačkim videjima koje sam ikada gledao! bravo!
Brate svaka ti čast. Epske scene💪💪
Hvala Nenade!
he was never in control for once....such a big fish n drag to the max..n the fish is still pulling the line ...amazing vid..😂👍👍
Yeap, no control as you saw it
You did everything right.
That is some heck of a rod, check out that bend!! 🎣👀💀
@localguy8 so a slower tuna, half this size, on a 2 speed conventional reel, from a boat. Basically that experience and this one are so far apart you almost can't call them both the same sport
Dude, that reel was surely SCREAMING
If i were u i couldnt sleep alnite long
...epic video man...love it
The best fishing video I’ve seen. This is what all fishermen dream off at night. Great fight that fish was amazing 🤙🏼🎣
Thanks man, apreciate!!
Thanks man..apreciate opinion and you are right..had similar multiple experiences with big catfish and tunas
Bravo 👏 Approximately what is the depth at which the fish hit?
Aprox 30m
@@nasticivan 👏👏👏
Awesome!!! Its only a matter of time & right tackle & method before someone hooks one in u. k or Ireland especially Cornwall huge numbers now here.
Great fisherman! Keep it up! Let me know what reel and size, rod and line you were using, please! It would mean alot to me!
Tnx man! I will write you message, best!
Its in the description, i dont see option for messages here :)
That was mental!!
Couldn’t stop laughing, you lost a fish but gained an amazing memory:)
Man that was Awesome.. I hope you're fine and not injured.. It was almost a Submarine 😅... Absolutely amazing 👌🏼🔥
Tnx! All fine now..waiting equipment for next trip!
Now thats probably the greatest story of the one that got away !! but the surface strike was unbelievable!!
Tnx mate ✌️
Hope you are okay.
That was a fish 🎣 of a lifetime you had there. Amazing 🎣👍🥳
Yes man, all fine now, ready for new expedition 🤙
Craziest fishing video I’ve seen in al while. The way that fish keeps taking line is brutal.
Tnx man 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼✌️
What a great spot for a bit of fishing, where the fish are bigger than you
At least it's not a fish story, you have it on camera. 😂
That was a beautiful experience.
Thanks man
You needed a miracle to land that fish. I remember fishing for rock bass as a kid and a carp snatched the bait. Saw it for about half a second before it bolted and snapped my line. I wasn't prepared for that fight lol.
I’ve not had a fish that big in that situation, but I’ve definitely fallen on rocks like that and man. I felt your pain through the screen. Ouch!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
I loved the few seconds when you realized 'F*ck, it's too big....." 😄😄
Been fishing all my lifa and this is the feeling when you know you gonna loose some equipment or become a legend
The fishermen never had a chance the Tuna was just playing with him !!!! LMFAO
A winner tries hard but a loser hardly tries. You are winner🎉
tnx bro
that tuna isn't even remotely phased by any resistance from the reeling. that's insane!
What an awesome experience! It’s great that it jumped and you got it on camera. Running across jagged rocks was a poor choice
Sometimes you win, sometimes loose :)
@@nasticivan should’ve jumped in and see where it takes you haha
This is the best sound ever invented on earth
What a legendary eat! I'll bet you won't be forgetting that Leviathan. Hooking a fish like that top-water is the pinnacle, landing it would have just been gravy. You got the best part of that fish hardwired into your memory now.
That was EPIC!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you were done before the fight begun! No way on a spinner rig! You eventually would have gotten spooled... Best fishing video ever posted anywhere!
Tnx man, we are waiting for a bit smaller tunas :)
@@nasticivan Haha, hoping for smaller fish, I wish I had your problems! What country was this?
Sounds great! Thats fishing :) Nice memories is what we remember. What do you think, how big it was?
