Jeremy Wade is by far one of the best hosts of these "adventure" shows. His passion for his craft is undeniable and it was a joy to watch him for as long as we did.
He was also very good at sharing his knowledge about what he was doing and being very respectful of the cultures of the people around him frequently taking advice from locals and listening to them, he even changed how he fished and if he released the fish based on various factors
@@NeverGroggedNo one would dare disrespect The Great Tony Bourdain. The cooking predecessor of Jeremy, both are/were extaordinary men. RIP Bourdain, hope he's getting cooked amazing meals by amazing people in the middle of nowhere somewhere.

This man is out there catching once in a lifetime catch for 99% of recreational fishermen and calmly says, “this isn’t the fish i was looking for.” 😂😂 love this show!
@ well that’s a given and i agree with ya, but theres many fishermen out there that don’t catch anything compared to that. mostly because of location but you get the point.
Too bad, no new episodes for you. He already catched every known river monster out there and has to end the show. But yeah, all of the episodes are worth to rewatch.
Can we talk about how much of an impact Jeremy Wade has had on people teaching us about rivers, cultures and conservation. This man taught me to care more for my local rivers than anything else.
Its a shame really, waterways are peoples cultural heritsage, governments and private water companies just use them as dumping grounds for toxic waste, sewage...
I started fishing 2 years ago because of Jeremy Wade & I love the thrill you get when fish takes the bait after many hours. Thank you Sir. You are a true Legend.
As a fisher, some days there might be nothing, some days it's one after another but both days being on the water, relaxing hearing the boats go by or the water splash against the bank or it being as still as possible not even the moon is budging it. All super worth it.
Other than Survivor Man featuring Les Stroud, the other shows you mention are ALL scripted. Especially Man is Wild. That guy brings an entire crew with him and has most things set up for him. It's fake.
Sadly, reality tv had its share of bad actors back in the day, but damned if we aren’t nostalgic for tv shows like that to return, especially the honest and good ones like River Monsters!
Well, ya got me on that one. River Monsters was always right up there with Survivor Man'. Love this show. And it's pretty hard to script catching the Monsters Jeremy catches . I think my favorite is when he caught the giant Tiger fish on the Congo. What a fish that was @Chris_EOH

When i was 11 or 12 years old i already started fishing competitions in ponds mostly filled with carp. (95%) The fishing was done with a hand rod and an elastic cord in the first few pieces of the handrod(they were hand rods that you could take apart and put back together(non telescopic)so you could choose at which length you would feed and fish, there mostly was a rule about the length of line you could have ,mostly 5 meters or so,so you woudln't have the advantge to reach places where others couldn't if you had an expensive rod of 16 meters.side note:i still remember my father had a Daiwa Kevlar 16 meters hand rod that costed 40.000 Belgian franks(!!!).(that would be 1000€ today and that was in the 80's...) Anyway, one fisherman had a very big carp on and a bit too much elastic in his handrod and was standing on his 'visbak'(lol) i.e 'fish box' because he couldn't net it otherwise. Unfortunately he was standing under a high power electrical line and then the fish broke off and his line swong up in the air and made contact with the electrical line while still standing on his fishbox...😱💀⚡(carbon is an exellent electrical conductor..). I didn't see it myself but the people next to him and the people watching said that the blood was gushing i;e flying out of his ears like fountain while being electrocuted. 20.000 volts...(yes,it's the amps that count but still...) He miraculously survived and recovered and is probably still selling fishing gear in his shop in Denderleeuw. (very small city in Flanders). End of the story.
