Fishing with Huge Squid as Bait to Catch Something Bigger

- I was fishing with Dr. Marwan in the Red Sea in Aqaba, Jordan, using huge squid as bait to catch a larger, more aggressive predator in the ocean. Swordfish love eating squid, and I was shocked to see how easily a swordfish can swallow a giant Humboldt Squid. I was using giant Humbdolt Squid as live bait for the swordfish.

Hey Josh, not trying to be your mother, and I know this is several months old, but I can tell you that since you previously had cancer, you really should protect your hands with gloves. The chance that you get an infection or sepsis is pretty high post cancer treatment and we don't want to see anything happen to you. Talk to your doctor about it. I know you're an adult and you have everything handled, but obviously we want to see you around for a long time. I know gloves suck and theyre hot, uncomfortable, ungainly, etc.

I only just found this channel. You're an absolutely amazing host, and your enthusiasm is contagious. I don't even fish and I couldn't stop watching. There's something very special about being able to get people interested in something they previously had no interest in. And I respect the hell out of wanting to share that. And envy being able to do it for a living. I may have only found your channel today, but I'm glad you beat cancer and are back to living your life to the fullest. I don't know any details about the cancer other than surgery was involved. But I know it's a horrible thing no matter how it goes down.

Hey try fishing like a proper angler you going to drop a bait 600 m the sword fish will make it easy until the last 50-70 m from the surface then you fight it . Also they where small fish. Waste of squid.

I'm glad you're back, Josh. I have to admit that I hate the idea of using cephalopods as bait because they're highly intelligent animals. I've used cut squid myself so it's pretty hypocritical but seeing those big beautiful squid kind of brought it home. But hey, it works.

This is one of my favorite guides I've seen you go out to fish with. I saw a lot of ppl have commented that he's inhumane towards the animals but this is a man who's fishing to feed his family every night. To me it seems like he respects the fish and knows that most of these large squid and swordfish could seriously hurt ppl if not handled correctly. This is how he pays his bills and supports his kids, and you can tell the importance of it to him through how much he knows. Great video, I just recently found your channel again and I'm going to do some fishing this week for the first time in a few years.

When the bait is bigger than the fish.
As for the winch and leaving the rod in the holder it's just not sporting.
Meat fishing, like drift nets,long liners and bottom trawlers.
Sport fishing is a battle of endurance and will.
With only a bent rod,drag washers, line, your best knot and hook between you and the fish.
Locked in a mortal tug of war that has killed many an old angler.
It's supposed to be like that.
It does look like fun and I don't mean to be a hater but you could just cleat it off and drag it home.
It reminds me of going on a commercial panga size boat in Tahiti.
He really wasn't into putting us on fish and spent most of the time chasing mahi with a spear which was exhilarating. Bounding over open ocean swells chasing birds.
Sadly when the fish was speared it didn't fight but got dragged in all wounded.
It's mate never abandoned it and was easy prey.
They're so beautiful and it made me sick. No fight, no chance,no glory.
Just dead meat but people gotta eat.
I hope you get better soon and can feel the rod thumping again.
