Into the Fire with LAFD Command Teams

- The LAFD uses command teams, made up of a Battalion or Division Commander and a Staff Assistant. Together, they manage the scene of any significant incident. A major emergency will see multiple teams in place. Few people seem to understand the value and importance of command teams, we we've created a short video about them. l have created a short video to help people understand the vital role these individuals play in keeping firefighters and civilians safe.
This is why I love the job. It's unlike any other. People may call us heros, but we just simply reply, "it's our job".
LAFD
Excellent video and display of the proper techniques to utilize a command staff. We all too often sell our selves short to the public, we constantly face staffing shortages and the battalion aids are one of the quickest positions to be eliminated. Most firemen have a "can do" attitude, when budgets get cut and we suffer shortages what happens? We get the job done anyway. As a result why should they stop cutting our funding and personnel numbers, as long as they see the job completed. B-Safe!
Great video! The command teams here are so complex and interesting!
This is cool to know about we don't have division commander or staff assistant
I HOPE we will all maintain training, operational readiness, physical fitness, treating the public respectfully way above being in the proper uniform (and not the other way around as is the habit of some)!!! Encourage the troops to take initiative and that it's okay to make honest mistakes (without the fear of being "hammered" by over zealous uniform Nazi's). Incidents go BEST when ALL members on the fire ground know their duties, responsibitlities and act decisively. Do as I DO!
Good video
Pretty good video! Now we need one like this for LAFD's Ten Member Task Force Concept.
awesome
I think it’s key , that they put wet stuff to red stuff !
Welcome to my world, this is what my "office" looks like on a busy day...
one fabulous dept!
@blinko656 You feel relieved when he's around. Like everything is going to be better!
Great Video!
great video
I would love to film for you guys. Nice work!
Yep. Command is much harder than it looks. Hopefully, LAFD has enough trained command staff to keep up...
Too bad that a bunch of the Battalion Chiefs lost their Staff Assistants.
So when does this movie/show come out?
Can we have a video about the importance of Truck Companies and Engine Companies? What's the basis for cutting Trucks and Engines? Because we aren't going to as many fires as we used to? Well...how many ems calls are Battalion command teams going on?
Really? I think those helmets are unique. Hmm
