- Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the 7200 block of Franklin Avenue for a reported structure fire. Station 41 was first on scene and found a three-story apartment building with smoke and fire showing. Interior fire attack and the wagon battery were initiated to attack the fire. Truck 27 personnel went to the roof for ventilation. It took 56 firefighters just over 40 minutes to extinguish the fire. Two patients were treated for smoke inhalation. The cause is under investigation.
Recorded in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA - 7/20/2024
Great job LAFD! To knock down a fire like that in 40 minutes shows a good, coordinated effort.
Our LAFD pro's in action. Well trained and top notch performers
Worship heroes much? You are spending too much time with comic books or video games.
Hope the firefighter who took the deck canon on unit 41 gets a raise! Great job putting out the balcony fire.
He got sued for water damage for the floor below
Way too late and too much water.
Once again great camera work, love the radio traffic. Stay Safe.
Great video coverage!

Great job, always tough getting a line developed in these modern apartments.
In all of the fire scene videos I've seen on yt, you do notice more "HUSTLE" in the smaller depts. Although they are the largest dept in the entire U.S., the FDNY appears to be the one who lolligags the most.
LA COUNTY and Miami Dade Fire are dialed in.
Themajetirium1 UA-cam. Big new York city 🔥.
What does that even mean?
@@Cairns-880 FDNY dont need to hustle. they have all water in the world. take your time.
they dont need to hustle. 2000 gpms. in all directions. take your time. that fire is not going anywere.
Whatever the fire didn't destroy, the water sure did. Holy fuck. 🤦♂️
That's always the way in the USA. It's the Fountain Statue mentality.
Complain if they spray water…
Complain if they don’t spray water…
Complain… Complain… Complain…
Water damage is a lot easier and cheaper to repair than replacing an entire building that burned to the ground.
@@Cairns-880 I guess that is what you get when you suck compared internationally.
It's no "oh, you should be happy that someone came and helped" or "whatever they do is wrong" kinda argument, it's these Guys freaking job
US firefighting is decades behind, it's leading to unneccesary deaths and propery damage every day

*Please explain...
If I'm ever living in something that catches fire, I hope I'm in LA. WOW!! Video shots and editing are great also.
Great knockdown with the deck gun! These are under- utilized in my area!
Yeah that’s because we don’t push fire back into the building where there are victims and other firemen operating. All bad. Big no no. The fact there is so much water going in from the outside is a joke. Where I’m from, water goes from the inside out.
@@Lnmop123 anybody would know that you hit the fire with the deck gun BEFORE you send people in……the aim is to knock down the bulk of the fire to make it safer to send people in! They are there for a reason!
You cannot push fire with water.
Long disproven myth spread by wannabes who think saying such makes them sound cool.
@@Lnmop123don’t nobody care where you from. This LA😂if u don’t like it keep it pushin
You cannot push fire with water.
Nice to see someone remembering that they have a deck gun on the rig!
Wrong time to use it. This is a big NO NO
But it was at the wrong angle and for way too long.
@@Lnmop123 You really have no clue!
@@JB91710 oh I got a clue. I been doing this for a long time for a much bigger busier department than LA …
6:50 the way the member put his leg round to hold the hose was almost ballet like 👍 very smooth 😊
It's been fire dept for 250 years. Now they call it fire service stop being pc
Nice! Saw this live on stream when it happened
Great video
does this have enough ads? talk about annoying , blame UA-cam for the downthumb dislike!
why are you waiting a long time to put water on the fire guys
The engine was waiting for the supply to be charged. But, still could have done a quick hit to slow it down until they got water support.
Where do you see anyone “waiting”?
What exactly are you talking about?
@@Cairns-880 Well, they stand and watch for a little bit at the fire in the window before putting water in it. Then stopped ,,,,,
@@Cairns-880 If you can see the burning material, you put water on it. They didn't do that in a timely or effective manner.
Again, where do you see anyone waiting…
LAFD ARE THE BEST!!!!
Hey now so is fdny. Can't forget them . 10 times the fires.
looked like a newer apt building but apparently non-sprinklered?
There was Gunshots at the scene before fire 🔥
Ur lying
Did the deck gun drive the fire out the back, being no fire from side windows near front??. Was entry door blocked, 8 minutes in and no water on fire from interior? Not a good idea to rope the roof line over the fire apt balcony.
You came to your expert conclusions from watching a video, not knowing anything about the interior layout or even knowing what was going on out of sight of the camera. Thanks, Chief. lol (as a side note, my buddy lives in the building, fire was contained to apartment of origin).
@@johnhill4964 Questions are relevant, sorry if it hurts your feelings. What was going on that took 9 minutes for water from interior?? Did heavy pressure deck gun drive the fire out the back??
You are making yourself look foolish
@@richardmeo2503 As long as exterior water doesn't block the Pressure Release Location, heat and smoke won't be pushed anywhere other than back out the window. The fire in those two windows should have been completely extinguished in the first 2 minutes of arrival.
@@JB91710 25 yrs experience says that hi-pressure deckgun will drive the fire back inside. The question I had was did it?
Saving the foundation in Las Angeles
my question is...n I see this in most fires...why do they flood with water just about put it out then no water only to let it blaze back again???
21st Century still using water for fire...1000years
wagon battery doesn't fuck around
Is LAFD Finally getting different helmets??
@@Majorrawne01 they've had these helmets for a couple years now
Does anyone know the cause of the fire? I got there from a show at 11:50 and live across the street. There was a guy screaming all morning from that balcony just 2 days prior to it
So sick
nice video job btw
RIP Phenix helmets....it's just not the same
it's interesting how tactics have changed over the years......when I was hired in the early 80's, a deck gun or any line through a window from the exterior would have been a mortal sin. Now, it's SOP under certain circumstances.
That's because it makes perfect sense. As long as you don't eliminate the Pressure Release Location by blocking it with the incoming water.
I can understand deck gun knock down but not the rear handling into window
What about it?
There were crews working on the interior, you do not spray from exterior to interior when there are crews inside, or at the very least coordinating with them.
Love the use of the deck gun!
If used correctly which it wasn't here.
As much as I love deck guns. This wasn't the place for it it drove the fire right through the building interior atack period
Maybe the incident commander was communicating with the interior crews. And the whole " push the fire from the outside" thing doesn't hold water anymore
Thank you!!! I’d expect more from LA. This was pathetic. Water goes from the inside out. We do not push the fire and products of heat and combustion back into the building where there are other victims and firemen operating. Junk
@@Lnmop123 Water puts the fire out.
@@andyoxleyonhistravels clearly you’re not a fireman. Leave it to the pros thanks. But hey you can go watch a cooking show with your wife ….
@@andyoxleyonhistravels she probably wants to leave u for a real man tho
Great job on the quick knock down, but why use those heavy wooden ladders????
Main reason, they're non-conductive.
And they are cool looking. More sturdy. Everything. Wooden ground ladders are the real deal
There was no great knockdown here.
DECK GUN
Hey! Why didn't E82 bring their electric fire engine? Didn't the lesbian chief sings its praises as the future of fire fighting?
Because the firefighters at that station also run on battery and were not charged to 100%!
No more diesel fire truck by 2030.
The Deck Gun could have knocked down that room using tank water in about 5-10 seconds within the first minute of arrival.
FIVE TO TEN SECONDS GUYS, NOT MINUTES! How much water did that room Really need to stop burning, guys?
5:50 Deer in the headlights. Water, guy! Oh, come on! MOVE YOUR FEET FOR A VARIED ANGLE OF ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the flames don't go out, then you are probably NOT hitting the burning material.
7:00 What's the matter boys? You giving up just because the water didn't make the right turns when it went through the window?
7:30 See anything wrong with that ladder? Who's is running this horse and pony show?
JB919710, those that can do. Those that can't teach. Those that can do neither criticize. Guess which category you fit into.

The hit it hard from the yard on both windows or the first truck passing the fire room and setting up around the corner…do you want me to keep going ?
@@jimfitz1432 Wanted to see what you thought. I agree that it could have been done better but we need all the radio comms. They could have used the deck gun until they ran out of water and charged the LDH. I don't know why there would be a delay from the guy on the ground for flowing water into the fire room, but trying to give benefit of the doubt. Then again, it's CA, they send guys to the roof to cut holes even after it has vented three times!
I've seen small volunteer departments get water on a fire quicker.
