  • It’s summer on the river! Well, it is today anyway. Flowers on the land, fish in the water, but did any make it to the net?
    Join me on the bank under blue skies and glorious sunshine to find out!

    Good to see you and the sun both out on the same day. Makes a welcome change. I was out yesterday and had an absolute stinker of a day, the kind that makes you want to give up fishing for good. I will, of course, be back out tomorrow.

      Aye it was nice to feel the heat of the back of the neck at last! I should have had more than 3 tiddlers, man I'm getting slow! 😁😁 Truth is though not much was happening.

      Thanks. I'm a bit perplexed about where all the clicking and creaking noises are coming from though. Something is amiss with the camera mount setup and it's not easy to pin down.

    Nice video as usual Fred, looked like pretty tricky conditions, low and clear with sunny skies and a downstream wind. I think you did well to get anything 👍

      Hard going Chris and slow reactions of an old man. Great weather though. Next job is to figure out what is causing these annoying clicks ad rattles. 😊

      Do you record straight into the camera Fred? For me it was my snips and forceps tapping against the jacket zip that was annoying. I've velcroed the jacket in place now!!

    • @wildfisher
      @wildfisher  Рік тому +1

      Yes straight to camera. I did think about the forceps Chris and it has very likely something to do with the junk I have hanging from me. Thing is you don't hear it as it happens and are probably concentrating on the fishing anyway. Ah the trials and tribulations of the Hollywood producer! 😁

    • @wildfisher
      @wildfisher  Рік тому +1

      Actually Chris it's the creaking noise that is hardest to understand. I just hope it's not my old joints giving way! 😊

      Surely not Fred 😀 I must say it wasn't that noticeable and didn't detract from the video👍 Our rivers are dropping fast now despite all the rain we had earlier in the year, conditions will be like yours soon enough.

    What weight fly rod are you using there? Out here in Colorado on streams that size I’m using a 3 weight. Tight lines

    • @wildfisher
      @wildfisher  Рік тому

      I was using a 9 foot #4 weight today, but I sometimes fish a 2 or a 3.

      I used to fish Loch Na Bo near Lhanbryde, nice place, boat only for wild trout. Might be worth your while to check it out.

      I find a lot of fishing here is catch and release??

    • @wildfisher
      @wildfisher  Рік тому

      Very common on salmon rivers but I can't think of one trout water where C&R is mandatory. Most choose to do it.

    How come the cows have access to the river banks? This seems very poor environmental practice. Here in NZ, we make steady progress in excluding stock from waterways. What is the first thing a cow does when it stands in water? Yes, it craps. And the sediment from the banks being trampled results in topsoil loss and river turbidity increasing and raised phosphate levels.

    • @wildfisher

      I know what you mean having fished in NZ many times. Sadly here the farmers get away with it. I have reported this stuff to the authorities many times and nothing changes
