I used to watch all of the SA Mastery series tapes back when I was starting out fly fishing. I learned so much from them.

Thanks so much for uploading a version of this with good video quality. This is the video I first rented back in the early 90s and learned how to fly fish. It's still my favorite instructional video on fly fishing and I still learn a lot from it.

Amazing vintage vid. He was ahead of his time. Even basic euro nymphing techniques he already applied. Forwarded it to other (beginner) fly fishers and they love it too. The simplicity of the flies he is using shows there is no need too overcomplicating tying, as these are patterns that a novice tier can apply. Kuddo's 👍

This is a classic video that all new to the sport should watch for basics. I too, viewed it many times and got me started on the right track. Sure indicators have changed and this vid is pre-Euro techniques, but Gary does a great job explaining fly fishers intent... not just casting to the bottom of the column and waiting...

Hello everyone! I remember this video from thirty years ago(???) And watched many, many times. Does anyone know the type and name of his waders? I owned this type of wader and would love to do so again. Are they still made? Great video! Glenn

Can anyone date this video’s production??
I can only guess that this one takes place in the early ‘80s.

ha ha I remember renting his videos from the fly shop. In the credits after the show would be the name of the private places he fished to make the videos!
