I mispoke about the name of this stitch. It's called the Split Single Crochet, not the shallow stitch. I have made a new thumbnail and relabelled the video. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I adore this stitch, Mikey. I think I speak for many in saying we would love a pattern from the Crochet Crowd with this as the dominant stitch. Thanks so much for your awesome tutorials.

Help! If you have a foundation single crochet, where do you insert the hook for this stitch? I’m not seeing the “legs” with the foundation single crochet 🤔

Torso and legs, I love it! Your awesome descriptors really help get the concept across and are entertaining at the same time.

Thank you. Once again you're the best resource for explaining very clearly how to do a technique. Other lazy video makers neglected to show the first stitch. I don't know why I didn't just look here first. You're the best!

This is pretty cool stitch. Especially for us in the cold weather we need no holes in our crochet. Hubby doesnt like the crochet hats cause in winter he can feel to wind threw the holes as he walks the dog in -20 weather. Like your weather alaska gets cool too.

Also try Tunisian crochet stitch- no holes or gaps. Makes nice hats.

Are you forgetting to crochet in the last stitch of each row, because it looks like one side isn't straight? This stitch looks like it would be good for a border but I don't know how to handle the corners since there wouldn't be any legs to go through. Any suggestions? Thanks for all your videos.

Could this also be call a split single crochet? It looks similar to it. I've also seen similar stitch being call center single crochet/waistcoat stitch. If the shallow stitch is not a split sc and/or center sc/waistcoat stitch, can you explain the differences between these stitches?

Wow, it does look a lot like stockinette stitch! Does it curl or lie flat? It also looks reversible! I'm going to have to give it a shot! Thanks!

I'm considering using this stitch for the border of a knitting project. How would I make the corners?

This is the stitch that I need. I have a project that needs to look knitted, but I don't want to knit it. lol

Is that what it’s called? I’ve always called it a waistcoat stitch.

I think it has at least two different names. Thanks for this though. Now I will know if someone asks me.

I️ was looking for recommendations on learning to crochet and read your blog thecrochetcrowd.com/tag/recommendations/ and was referred to crochet geek and was confused because it was named warrior and there was instead videos on white privilege?? Maybe update your list for others, otherwise thanks for the other reviews
