You are the only person I’ve seen who shows how to do the last row to match the first in stitches like this. Although in most case it’s rather obvious to someone who’s not a beginner, I think it awesome . Bravo!
So happy to find this loop stich tutorial. Over 40 years ago, I used it crocheting with two strands of yarn--a dark forest green and slightly lighter green. I made it around the size/shape of a winter scarf, then sewed the long sides together and stuffed it. The I stitched the ends together to form a circle. The result is a crocheted wreath. I also crocheted some red berries and a leaf or two to make a holly decoration for the wreath. I'm so happy to have found this tutorial so I can do that again!
Oh I love love love this Stitch! And you're such a good teacher. I've been crocheting for over 65 years and I have never seen this pattern I love it thank you!
I love how you go slow enough to see how the stitches are formed and explain in detail how to do them. I may finally learn to crochet with your tutorials! Thank you!
By far, the BEST tutorial I’ve found online - anywhere. Clear, direct, well-paced and neither repeats tediously, nor skips by too fast. Thank you for showing ahead where each piece of the next stitch will be placed! I wish every stitching tutorial did exactly the same thing. Many thanks....off to explore the rest of your channel videos.
Love your tutorials. Have been crocheting for close to 40 yrs. and I think this is first time I’ve seen feather stitch done by someone. Great job. I lost my pattern yrs ago. Love that you also do left hand instructions, too. I’m a righty but have taught lefty’s in past and know it can be difficult. Thanks for you knowledge and all the time and effort. God bless. 🥰
I have never heard of the feather stitch until now and it is gorgeous!! Seems like it's especially suited to color-changing yarns, so that feathers show up nicely against the slightly different color below. Thanks for the lovely and easy to understand video.
I love the way you explain the stitches ..the tone of and speed of your voice is perfect. for someone who struggled even in school with teachers having to repeat the assignment , and then me shutting down and failing those classes because I was a slow learning by audio or being told what to do in other words I'm definitely a visual learner but if you had of been my teacher I would have passed my classes with grace ☺️not hurried not rushed. There are other crochet teachers on YT skilled as you yet , your voice is why I watch your video from beginning to end and I not get frustrated and want to skip through lol ADDED your camera angel is superb! 💕💕💕💕🎥
I love, love , love this stitch! I'm a retired teacher, and I can honestly say that you are a great crochet teacher. You are patient, slow enough so that we can keep up (but not too slow), and always use a kind voice. I'm working on an afghan using your feather stitch with three colors. I'm half done, and couldn't be happier with how it is turning out. Keep up the good work and God bless.
This is one of the best tutorials on how to do a certain stitch I have watched. Clear instructions, and you have an easy pace to follow. I am definitely subscribing and sharing this. Thank you.
Thank you for a tutorial for adults! I find most crochet tutorials are far too wordy and short on tutorial. Very easy to follow and I don't spend all day listening. Now, on with my project! Thank you
I just finished my scarf! Thank you so much for this video. It looks way harder than it is, everyone is so impressed! I love your videos! Thanks Robin!
I have been crocheting for about a year and a half now and I have been searching for some kind of pattern that is more than just half and double crochets but still easy to follow, and this is it! thank you so much it is such a gorgeous stitch and you have made this so easy to follow! And I learned how to do the half double foundation chain which I think I am going to start using a lot more! Thank you!
Thank-you so much for being very clear in audio. You give great instructions for the beginner. I really enjoy how to break it down step by step. With your simple and wonderful clear instruction anyone who struggling in crochet could learn easily. Thank-you Robin
Alot of comments say this in lacey, it is not. Beautiful stitch oddly addicting but very thick. After I finish with red heart stripes I'm gonna try it with a dk weight. Thank you so much for the lessons. I think I made almost every scarf you have a video on.
Thank you for this tutorial. I have some slight memory issues so I keep comming back to rewatch this tutorial. Its helped me pick up where i last left off.
This is my second comment. Someone posted a blanket they made with this Stitch and that's how I wound up here and I am already a subscriber but I have never seen feather Stitch. This is my go-to now. I have tons of brand new yarn but I also have Oddball stains I want to make blankets with this Stitch for my home and friends but also for pet shelters this is a nice thick one that they can make a bed of. I do love this thank you Robin
Your tutorials are so good. Not only are the stitches you cover really lovely and the yarns you use really pretty, the way you sit them is perfect and so clear, as are your instructions, and your pacing perfect. Thank you so much.
WhileTobin, this is the first time I've seen this stitch, and I've saved this tutorial so I can revisit when I want to make a scarf. This is the very first time I've saved a stitch, just love it. Thank you .
I absolutely LOVE this tutorial!! The stitch is beautiful and I also learned how to do a Foundation Half Double crochet stitch MORE CLEARLY!!! Thank you Robin!!!
I'm going to try this stitch. I have never been happy with a single thing I've made because of edge or ending-off issues. I hope this works; you made it look so easy. I'll let you know what I think about the feather stitch later. I can tell this is a thread-hungry stitch, BUT if it comes out as pretty for me as it did for you, I'm sure I'll be in love.
Just finished my first feather stitch scarf... unfortunately, my one skein was not enough for an adult, but it will fit one of my nieces. Thanks for a clear tutorial!
The stitch pattern is gorgeous. Just started mine in the same RH retro yarn. Your tutorial is easy to understand. Thank you for sharing your talent. 👍👍💗
It is definitely easier than the Star Stitch one - gives great texture still but with only a one row repeat, it's definitely easier to just get on and do (if that makes sense!)
Me too! I’ve had trouble with the star stitch and find it a bit frustrating but caught onto this stitch right away- so excited that I have already dug through my box of yarns to make a lovely scarf 🧣- many thanks!!
GREAT TUTORIAL!! Thursday is my sneak peak baby gender appointment!! Thinking REALLY hard about stopping at a yarn store afterwards to pick an appropriate colorway for this baby's blanket!! I made a five point star in blue, light blue and white for my son and a three-way swirl in black, red and white for my daughter. Both were started upon finding out the gender at 20 weeks give or take AND finished BEFORE birth!!.... This one is only 12 weeks and change!! How technology has changed since 2013-14!! (In case you are curious... My son was born in 2009 but most of my pregnancy was 2008.) 🤩
I love this stitch! It's beautiful, but simple. Just the way I like it. I made two samples: one with two rows each of two different colors, and one with one row each of three colors. Both of them are so pretty! I can't wait to make my next blanket using this beautiful stitch. Thanks so much!
This is an awesome stitch and does work up really fast! I’ve already finished one scarf and am half way through another. Thank you for sharing and creating this very easy to follow and comprehensive guide.
I haven't used this stitch yet but I do see it uses alot of yarn. I'm intrigued by the front and back design for this particular stitch and look forward to trying it out.
5 star tutorial! You have a big talent to teach, believe me! Very easy to understand and follow this tutorial. I'm only on the 9th row but I've already fallen in love with this stitch as well. 😀Thank you for sharing!
This is such a beautiful pattern! It looks light and airy, but you can tell it has substance and warmth. And I love seeing it worked in the color changing yarn!!
The Chainless Foundation is something I definitely need to do more often. It's a fantastic tool to have in one's toolbox, particularly for yarns where the starting chain would be noticeably different in color. It's also great for wearables, as it allows for "stretch" when a standard chain can be somewhat rigid. At least that is my experience. I just need to do more of them.
You popped up in my recommendations & I immediately loved a crochet stitch that looks knitted. So I watched and boy am I glad I did. Your tutorial is really good & from the comments this is your "normal". Your explanations are very good and with the camera focused on your work I find it easy to follow along. Thanks so much! You've won me over & I'm now a new subscriber!
I have learned so much in this one tutorial! That foundation chain is such a neat thing! And I love the feather stitch itself. I've only been crocheting for a year and haven't learned many stitches because they seem so difficult but this actually looks doable!! Thank you for sharing in such an easy to understand way
Most crochet stitches are actually easier than they seem! Tutorials are amazing! Never limit yourself just give them a try! The worst that could happen is that you'd have to undo your work.
This is another fabulous stitch .. love it. So satisfying. Plus you make it so wonderfully clear and easy to follow along. Cheers from Western Australia.💜💙💜💙
I love love love your tutorial style so much. It feels like a private tutor guiding me along with clear instructions, lovely yarns, and always great explanations of exactly where the stitch is supposed to go. Thanks and I cannot wait to start a project with this!
This is my favorite stitch. I just came across your video last week and I have 6 different projects started becasue I am so excited about it!! Thank you sooooooo much!!
Love this video! I come back to it all the time to refresh my knowledge of the stitch and enjoy how Robin explains it! Thank you for helping us all understand how to make this amazing stitch!
Thank you so much for this video. I finished my scarf! I used Caron simply soft ombre and used 3 skeins. It turned out great! I love your video. You go slow, explain well and show how to finish the end to look like the beginning. I'm still new, so it was great!!
You are such a good teacher. I bought some pretty variagated yarn the other day, enough to make a throw, and was looking for a new stitch to try with it. Thank You
Working on a scarf using Caron Cotton Cake (Blue Hawaiian). Love this stitch and how it looks. Started crocheting Jan 2020 and last year looked at this video, but didn’t think I had the experience to crochet this stitch. Just came back to this video today and have finished about 12 inches of my scarf. I am looking forward to getting some more yarn and doing it in another color. I feel like I have come a long way in my crocheting since 2020. Thank you for your excellent video and teaching skills. Thanks to you I think I have finally figured how to do the Foundation Row today. I have been trying to get this great tool off and on for about a year.
This pattern is beautiful. I've been looking for a pattern that is beautiful and squishy, as you say, so I can make a throw for my elderly mom. She gets cold so easy and this pattern would make a soft and warm throw. However, on the third row of feather stitches it was a challenge to figure out where the next long stitch went. But, I figured it out. Thank you for sharing.
Gorgeous stitch, thank you for making and sharing this video. Think I may try this stitch making a mid length shrug! I appreciate your camera close ups on your hand work, makes understanding the stitch positions so much easier!
Absolutely outstanding tutorial! Very clear explanation of how and where to do each stitch. Definitely going to check out your other videos. Thank you so much for being such a good instructor!
This is the first time I have tried this stitch, and I love it. You made it so easy for me to follow your instructions, I'm making a baby blanket and it is looking wonderful, ty, ty, ty ❤
Thank you so, so much for the loop stitch video and excellent instructions. I had almost given up but I am so chuffed that, thanks to you, I have mastered the loop stitch for a wall hanging.
This looks lovely! Really like the yarn you chose for your large sample--beautiful colors and a beautiful stitch! I will definitely try this one--I am busy making scarves and hats for Christmas and for charity organizations. Thank you for the terrific tutorial!
I'm quite new to crocheting but I definitely want to try this stitch, it's so pretty! Thank you for this tutorial it's very informative and easy to follow :D
Thanks so much for this pattern ..I intend to make some scarves and maybe some more things with this ..you have done a good job giving instructions ..it’s so easy to follow 😊 😋😋
Oh Robin! I love the look of this stitch! I don’t think I have ever seen this before but, if I have, I’ve forgotten...LOL. I am getting old after all! 😂. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! It does in deed look squishy and fluffy! I love the color you are using as well!XXX
Thank you so much for the tutorial, this is a beautiful stitch and you made it easy for me to learn. Now I just need to find the right yarn to work with. Thanks again.
Excellent tutorial, very clear and easy to understand. And what a nice stitch! One of the things I really like about this stitch is that when you’re using a striped gradient yarn like yours, it makes the colors blend so smoothly. No sharp color changes. Thank you for making this tutorial.
I think I'm going to try this out. I have lots of small bits I want to use up and a scarf with those bits just might work out. Just watching it once and I have it. I do the FSC so often that my mind skipped ahead on how to do the FHDC right away. The rest of it is quite easy to follow.
I recently learned the arrow stitch, so now I'm on a textured stitch kick. This looks like a gorgeous one to try next! And the colors in that yarn work up so beautifully in it!
Beautiful stitch and yarn Robin and I'm all for something that grows really quickly I will be trying a scarf in this one for my donations , thank you so much 😊Amanda xx💕

How many skeins would it take for a baby blanket?
💗💗💗💗💗🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Is this feather stitch quite a yarn eater? It seems like it would use a lot of yarn, but I do love how squishy it is.
You are the only person I’ve seen who shows how to do the last row to match the first in stitches like this. Although in most case it’s rather obvious to someone who’s not a beginner, I think it awesome . Bravo!
Yeah I've noticed many professional patterns even leave out that step and I usually just figure it out on my own.
Janet, I agree! That is something that really makes a pattern special. Robin Does such a fabulous job, doesn't she?!

Thank you so much, I finished my scarf and it turn out great! Thanks for everyone replies. I finished my scarf in two days. Love it!

Beautiful stitch. And this has to be the best paced demo I've seen - thank you for choreographing such smooth, evenly paced, easily visible motions.
Thank you so much! X

I appreciate the timestamp for the benefit of folks who are focused on the pattern tutorial :)
I’m halfway done with my hooded scarf in this stitch. It’s going to be so warm! I’m doing rainbow, 2 rows of each color. Thanks for making this video.

This is by far the easiest crochet I have done thanks alot.
Cute, easy, and fun! I appreciate this more than the Star Stitch.... THANK YOU x MILLION for sharing your time, talents, and tutorials!
It is definitely easier than the Star Stitch one - gives great texture still but with only a one row repeat, it's definitely easier to just get on and do (if that makes sense!)

Story of my life! 😂
So true
Lol yup!
Yes!
Yes! I do that all the time! Glad I am not the only one!
That foundation stitch looks so much neater than my normal starting chains. I had no idea that was a thing!
Love this stitch! The feather partnof the stitch reminds me of a modified HDC cluster. Excellent tutorial. Thank you for sharing!
I think this is going to be my new "go-to" stitch. Thanks Robin!!

Wow! You are a very good teacher. I'm going to try the feather stitch.
thank you for tutourial, i did this in the round to make a hat, it's turning out great, red for xmas
I'm glad this pops up in my recommended videos. This looks absolutely lovely! Love it! ❤
I think I'm going to try this out. I have lots of small bits I want to use up and a scarf with those bits just might work out. Just watching it once and I have it. I do the FSC so often that my mind skipped ahead on how to do the FHDC right away. The rest of it is quite easy to follow.
I love your work and I also love your videos, thank you for sharing your talents. You are a great teacher 🎃
I recently learned the arrow stitch, so now I'm on a textured stitch kick. This looks like a gorgeous one to try next! And the colors in that yarn work up so beautifully in it!
Thank you for the tutorial of a beautiful stitch. your explanation is easy to follow.
How pretty! Can't wait to try it in striped colors for a blanket. 😊

It's a bit of a yarn eater but totally worth it! Defo grows nice and fast once you get into the rhythm of it 👍
