I can’t begin to thank you enough for this amazing tutorial. I was desperate for an affordable hobby to alleviate my anxiety and tried knitting. It was a major fail then I thought crochet might be a good alternative. I have watched many videos and they were difficult to catch up with until I got to this wonderful tutorial. It was easy to follow and it’s been 4 months and I’m so proud to say, I’m a crocheter. But I wanted to stop by to just write a big expression of gratitude because if it hadn’t been for this basket weave, I would’ve given up. Thank you so so much Bella Coco for taking the time to record this and make it accessible to people like myself.
I started a couple of years ago and I love it, too. I had to laugh out loud when I read the affordable part 😅 Yes, it can totally be cheap, but, oh man, it can be so expensive, too 😂😂😂
@ hHHaa I know!!! A year later and yes it’s super expensive but you got to wait for the sales to get stocked up. It’s also super addictive and I’ve run out of people to give crocheted things to. I’m talking like deli ladies at the supermarket, I’m really scraping the barrel 😂
My grandmother, mother and aunt have tried to teach me how to crochet and failed. I was looking for a hobby that would help me relax and I saw your videos so I gave it a try. I just finished my very first blanket (and second project as a whole), for my mother and she loved it. So first timers bloopers - it's very large. Wish I could include a pic, I'm very proud of it. Thanks so m7ch. Would love a tutorial for a shawl with a lacey look but for beginners like me.
At last a lovely CLEAR tutorial......thank you so much. I have been crocheting for 60 years and this is my first time doing the basket weave........have always knitted it and I am loving it. Even for this 72 year old it was very easy to understand xxx
Help! When done with last row of basket weave, do you know how many to chain before starting the last row which is just the double crotchet to end it? Thank you! I’m so excited to try this!
@@karriesimonin1469 You chain 2 before the ending double crochet row; as with all of the other rows. :) I am trying this right now, it is looking awesome!
You are a natural teacher! I've tried basketweave with others but they made it too complicated. I was skeptical at first but you were able to sort me out! Kudos to you!🎉❤
Absolutely gorgeous! I am left handed and I can still follow your videos. I used to sit opposite my grandmother and follow her stitches. Thank you for making me feel like I can totally do this!
I’ve been working at the same grocery store for the past 33 years. It was about six weeks ago I watched your video of how to make a granny square and I’m currently making one of gold and ivory big enough to fit my queen size bed. Just yesterday a lady and her newborn baby came through my line with a crocheted blanket made with a stitch I’d never seen. She told me that she made it! This morning on my UA-cam feed I saw the same stitch from this tutorial. A whole new world has opened up for me and I am enjoying every minute of it! :-)
I recently took up crochet and I love your tutorials, they are the best by far that I found online. Your instructions and very clear and the videos are so easy to follow :) Thank you!!

This video was really helpful, thank you so much. I appreciate the slow speed, and also when you encourage us to pause the video and continue with the pattern. You’ve made a complicated (and pretty intimidating!) stitch very easy to make!
Thank you for this tutorial !! I was having such a hard time getting past the first row in my crochet blanket and couldn’t seem to move forward even after watching so many other videos ! I greatly appreciate that you show the work and slow enough for beginners like me to understand the stitches! Thank you !!!

@@bellacococrochet for some reason I attempted to that first before this and I was struggling and constantly restarting, but this one looks so simple and easy! I'm going to try it right now!
I tried this with nothing in mind but to just try it. I wish I had a size in mind because the price I have is just over a yard wide and it is the warmest thing. I used some super chunky yarn, it needed a 10 hook, that I just love. I think I will keep going with it and try to connect a second panel of this and hope for the best. Thank you so much, it's beautiful.
Love this one! I’m new to crochet, having only been at it for just over a month. I’m trying to stay within my knowledge base, but also trying to push myself to try new stitches. I can’t wait to try this one!
I love this stitch and the instructions were very easy to follow. This stitch looks very much the same as the basket weve stitch that I knitted my grand son's baby blanket.
I'm a fan of your tutorials! Your explanation and what you show is always very clear. Most other tutorials just dive in somewhere in the middle (and show some turbo speed crocheting that just makes me feel lost), but yours explain all steps from the very start in a clear and calm pace. Even for me as a beginner, this made it easy for me to produce some really fancy stitches! Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Even my dense self learned this!!!! It took me about 5 years and 3 different teachers to learn the Granny Square and here I’ve just watched this one video and I’ve got it. IVE GOT IT!!!! THANK YOU
I really enjoy your tutorials. Thank you for posting these! You are extremely informative and you get to the point which is an attention saver for me:) I've been crocheting for years, but I always love to watch different videos to pick up different techniques.
Been watching your videos for years now after crocheting for many many more. You're always my go to on you tube if I want to try out a new stitch. Your videos are so easy to follow and I love how you get straight into it, not 10 minutes if you telling us about what wool you bought and where from and telling us what supplies we need, like scissors and telling what scissors you have (actually seen this on a video before) My mum and sister are learning to crochet after years or knitting and they now watch your videos too. They're both left handed :) please keep making videos x
Love this pattern and tutorial. Currently making a nice winter blanket and it’s so thick and warm. I’m very beginner and haven’t crochet in 20 years when I learned from my grandmother

Thank you for this tutorial. I have managed to get a swatch made and for a beginner I think I did ok. I started crocheting just 4 years ago and am self taught through the You tube. I had 2 years of very stressful crocheting because I was not familiar with all terms. But I am confident now. I see your tutorials and learnt a lot. I keep coming back to your site because you are very clear in your instructions. Thank you very much. I learnt granny squares too from you and just completed a Bunny Lovey. It got many appreciations from my circle.
@@bellacococrochet yes I have mustered enough courage to crochet a pineapple shawl following Jonna Martinez. I am starting it tonight. It would be my fulfilment of satisfaction when I complete this shawl. I am in admiration and awe of this design with all the delicate lacy loops. But I will do it though it is going to take time. I have alloted only 2 hours of crocheting time for myself each day. Along this 4 years of crocheting I had accumulated swatches of different sizes and patterns because I wanted to learn different stitches. Most of them could not be continued because of one mistake that I would have done somewhere down the line. I wiuld stop crotching that swatch. After spending hours and stressing myself I could not throw them away. So I have put them all together into a blanket and have named it "My Masterpiece of Mistakes". It looks ok and my family and friends have given me the thumbs up. It does not look professional but my craft. I would like to show a photographer of it to you . I am 68 years old now and started learning crochet when I was 64. I am from India and at present in Australia with my son and his family. Thank you for being in my journey. LOL I appreciate that you demonstrate every step at a slow enough pace to follow, and even multiple times. I've just made a sample but I'll now be starting a larger basket weave piece. Thank you very much!

Thank you. Very clear instructions, gave the math and count, left everything else to our interpretation. I got it first try. Unusual for me. 👍
ii,
I have a brain injury and its hard for me to learn. I like how slowly this is. awesome.
I'm brazilian and I undestood everything! The names here are totally different! Thanks so much for being pacient and explain slowly !
You're very welcome :)
This is lovely, thanks.
When I crochet I always use a smaller hook size because I'm very loose with my crochet and knitting.
I love your videos please can you do one on shell
Hi Elizabeth I already have a video on the shell stitch, here is the link ua-cam.com/video/_S4E8g52U0w/v-deo.html hope this helps :)
You’re a talented crochet instructor. I can’t wait to use this pattern ❤ Thank you so much!
You are very welcome :)
Love this one! I’m new to crochet, having only been at it for just over a month. I’m trying to stay within my knowledge base, but also trying to push myself to try new stitches. I can’t wait to try this one!
This is honestly way more easier than the other videos that I've seen. Now I can get started and make a gift for my father! 😊
I love this stitch and the instructions were very easy to follow. This stitch looks very much the same as the basket weve stitch that I knitted my grand son's baby blanket.
Zi love basket weave blankets but have always knitted them. Very new to crochet but your tutorial is so easy to follow I am gonna give it a try.
Hope it goes well for you :)
Thank you so much :)
Love this stitch....definitely makes it looks SO do-able even for beginners! Thanks!
Even my dense self learned this!!!! It took me about 5 years and 3 different teachers to learn the Granny Square and here I’ve just watched this one video and I’ve got it. IVE GOT IT!!!! THANK YOU
You're welcome :)
Hi, thanks a lot love this new chrochet stitch will work it on a blanket this year.
You’re very welcome 😊
Love this pattern and tutorial. Currently making a nice winter blanket and it’s so thick and warm. I’m very beginner and haven’t crochet in 20 years when I learned from my grandmother
Good luck with your project :)
I am a beginner and I find your tutorials very helpful and easy to follow. Thank you for your time and effort making these tutorials. I'm going to attempt my first blanket and I think this might be a nice stitch for it.
I love this pattern! I thought it was too complicated for me to do, but yet here I am doing it! Thank you for a great lesson! So easy to follow along!
I have been crocheting since I was 10 years old, only ever doing double crochet blankets! I am now 35 and learning something new! Thanks!
You're very welcome 🙂
I thought it would be so much more complicated, but it's easy and you make it easy to follow; thank you!
Nancy
I love using this stitch for making blankets. Especially for blankets for for men.
Thank you Bella for this basket weave tutorial, I learned to just crochet yearrs ago :-), but I'm fairly new in the manner of learning new stitches and the name of them. I've followed many of your tutorials and have made and finished lot's of projects from them, thank you for your easy to follow tutorials :-D
I am LOVING this pattern! I'm using a Charisma bulky 5 yarn and a 9.0mm hook, and it feels so great to work with? Both this yarn and the pattern just work so nicely together!! Thank you for this video!
You are very welcome :)
Love this video!!!! You were good at explaining it in a non-complicated fashion!!! Can't wait to try this... It is a beautiful pattern!
Thnks so much ,you're so patient n clear in your instructions.Love getting to do new sets n styles despite the millions of sets others already been doing for many yrs.May you hv many rewarding teaching in future.

Me too! Wish we could share our finished projects. Love her patterns.
Bella I am a 45 year old women who is trying so hard to learn crochet. You are such an awesome teacher. I am still not that good at it but I found you and actually learned a little bit. Still working on it. Thank you for being the best teacher!!!
You're very welcome and remember crochet is practice and patience 😀
Thank you so much for your videos! You make things so clear. When I want to learn a new stitch, I know exactly where to go!!
I've been doing crochet since 7. Now much later still happy to still be learning new stitches!!! Congrats on your blanket, I'm making a rug. Stick with it, you will keep learning all the time😊
Thank you! 😊
I have just started my project and really like this stich. Thank you for the instructions about how to make a blanket (x8) +7. I am making a dual colour King blanket.
Is there a printable pattern for the basket weave crocheted afghan?
Pat Waller revelry.com has loads of patterns that use basket weave
This comment will be buried, but I wanted to say THANK YOU for the clear instructions! You were so helpful!
I just completed my first scarf using the basket weave.
Used about a little bit more than 3x 330m yarn on a 3,0 hook. Total piece is about 2m long.
Looking forward to trying new things! Cheers xx
You are very welcome :)
Thank you once again! Your videos taught me how to crochet a year ago and I have learned all of my new stitches and patterns from you. This is my first time trying this one and once again, it was easy to learn thanks to you! xx
Been crocheting for 40 years. I'm new to trying different stitches/patterns. I had to subscribe to your channel. You have made this pattern so easy! Looking forward to trying another video. Thanks a bunch 😁
You're very welcome :)
Excellent teacher and a lovely pattern. I am attempting to learn the stitches to make a scarf( for Xmas ) for my S-i-l. Many thanks ;-)

Wonderfully easy to understand tutorial. I'm rather a newbie, and don't have a lot of confidence, but so far this morning I've mastered basket weave, waffle, side saddle and am almost there with the diamond waffle. Thanks so much!
I just blindly follow the video and when I take a good look at it, I already made a basket weave pattern and Im like "Wait...what?" Loving it!!!
Love this video. Super easy peasy...just follow the instructions (don't fast-forward the video) and it looks awesome. Used this for a baby afghan. THANKS!!!
You are very welcome :)
Thank you for this video! Super easy to get and clear instructions! ❤
youre amazing at explaining things! i started off crocheting by watching your beginner videos and now im making a blanket! im so glad youve opened a youtube channel to teach how to crochet!
You are so welcome :)
Another super tutorial. You are the best.. you are making me spend all my money lol. I learn so much by your tutorials and love your patterns thank you so much.
Pretty, straight forward, easy to learn. I love this stitch so much now. Because it is reversible it works so well as dish cloth, skin exfoliating cloth. I came here after checking out Celtic weave basket stitch, which could hurt my wrists and fingers - so I'm so happy to find this tutorial.
You're very welcome :)
Thank you, thank you for your tutorials. Especially for including the US definitions into to mix.
I used this stitch to make a cowl as a present for my Mum-in-law, and it turned out really well. Your tutorials are very easy to follow, and soothing to watch :-)
Thank you :)
Love your tutorials.
Thank you for posting them, as someone who is fairly new to crocheting, you are so easy to follow and make them all look so simple, and I feel that with you tutorials even I am able to produce some beautiful crochet work xx

You are very good at describing how to go about doing this stitch. I tried it from a book and made a mess of things. So I pulled it all out and am going to follow your video! Thanks!
This is freakin’ brilliant and THANK GOODNESS it’s such a clear and simple tutorial. I admire this.
Thank you for your videos! I had forgotten how to crochet and wanted to take it up again. Haven't found any videos easier to understand.
You are very welcome :)
Love this stitch. You make it look so easy. Thank you for being such a great teacher
You are very welcome :)
Thank you for your feedback it means a lot. Glad that you are more confident now and good luck with your future projects :)
May you and your husband and child evolve to be Wholesome Souls and have Enough of everything so that you may share them with all you touch. God bless. I love your colour combinations which are so pleasing to the eyes and mind.
Love your videos! You make it so clear and easy to follow 👍

Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. One of my favorite patterns.
Glad you like it :)
I love this stitch now this was the first time doing this stitch as I'm new at crochet and I got this first time by watching ur video
Thanks I made a 9" x 9" square. I'm new to crocheting. I'm thinking about making a baby blanket in this stitch. I'm going to be a grandmother in about 4 months. I hadn't crocheted for over 35 years. I'm learning so much off youtube videos. Thanks for showing me how.
I'm trying to learn crocheting this is very helpful thank you,
I found your video after buying new yarn to start a project based on another video tutorial but she went so quickly and used such thin yarn and such a tiny hook, I couldn't see what she was doing. I've been crocheting for over 30 years, so it's not like I'm new to this. I was so frustrated, I was almost ready to set my new yarn on fire. LOL
I appreciate that you demonstrate every step at a slow enough pace to follow, and even multiple times. I've just made a sample but I'll now be starting a larger basket weave piece. Thank you very much!
You are very welcome I am glad that I could be of help :)
Love this stitch and I've had a go at a sample. Would love a pattern using this stitch for a men's cowl. Hoping to give as gifts for Christmas using Debbie bliss chunky. Thank you
So I watched this tutorial a few weeks ago and decided to make a blanket to make sure I learned this stitch and practiced a lot! I think it turned out pretty well!! The tutorial was very clear and easy to follow, thank you so much!
You're very welcome 🙂
Thank you so much for your soft voice instructing me how to do this beautiful stitch...!!! Thank you...!!!
I’ve tried to learn this stitch several times over the last couple years and could never grasp it.. so glad I found this video bc now I have an awesome looking project!!
That's brilliant I am so glad it was of help to you :)
