It’s certainly a nice camera. As a 1DX series user (1DXII, 1DXIII) i will be looking forward to the R1 mark II. Love the mechanical shutter and 1st curtain… thank you for doing it right.

My R3 has the panning assist feature. But I've been looking at the specs for the R1 and I don't see it. Will the R1 get panning assist later with a firmware update? I sure hope so.

Kind of, but not really. The R1 is purpose-built for speed. It is for pros who need to take photos and videos fast (think sporting events and news) and get them out with minimal processing while still at the event. However, the R5 Mark II is for so many other people! Do you want ALL the details in your landscape, portrait, wedding, or macro photography? It's got you covered! Need 8K or oversampled 4K for the film you're working on? Yeah, the R5 Mark II has your back. But if you're a sports or agency photographer, the R1 is where you want to be!
I’m no camera tech dissecting guy. But it’s the Nikon z9 way better than this? Seem like this camera should have been released 2 years ago, not today with todays advancements in technology
Agree ! 40fps when a 2000$ Canon R6ii can do the same with same megapixels ? Extremely disappointed to say the least ! Love my R5C and R3 but this R1 is an absolutely pass !

Canon - you should really watch the negativity that UA-cam generates against your products and your brand. The video of Jared Polin against the R1 has triggered a mountain of negative comments against Canon and the r1 which is totally shocking. I am into the brand big time, but I find the comments against Canon very disturbing. You need to really look into this in every way you can. In Europe people are much more understanding of the relative positioning between the r1 and r5II. Signed: a friend.

@@DeepVelociraptor8571 As much as i learn from Jared and yes, he's a photography Journalist, he always use the top flagship cameras. R1 is the newest camera right now and he's going to use it. I barely see him use any of the lower end models like the a7iii, z7, R8 or others now. Jared is all about the flagship cameras and the last time he used a non-flagship camera a lot was the a7Riv.
Flash sync "only" to 1/320s ? 😅 Even my old nikon D70 electronic shutter can easily does 1/4000 flash sync no problem 😂 Let me guess, that's to prevent people using just any flash and forcing people to buy in-brand flash 🤔
