    My jaw dropped when Alex said they picture a van with different parts in different seats and usually having a copilot! That's exactly the same thing we picture with our system, and we've never heard of another using the same analogy! We're a newly discovered system (within the past six months) and it's so easy for us to feel invalidated or not able to relate to others with similar disorders.
    For us, it's normal to have like two or three in the front seat and most are just always talking, discussing and joking and wanting to go different places/do different things. The middle row are the alters interjecting thoughts into the co-consciousness, and the backseat is for the alters who want to zone-out, looking out the window or are even just in their head/sleeping. Right now there are five of us, but we know there are others that we haven't met yet, and we imagine them hiding in parts of the van we can't see, afraid to come out. Like the trunk and such. We know they're there (not sure on a number), but we're letting them come out on their own with VERY gentle help -- like "everyone is just as accepted and valid as anyone else in the system" and "i'm/we're so grateful for all our parts, even ones undiscovered" etc.
    Thank you so much for helping us along our journey, since therapy is unfortunately not an option for us at this point in time. I'm so glad to have found the Amplexus System's channel!! It's so inspiring building up a community so we can feel less alone :) sorry for the pronoun switching, we've been co-con while writing this haha -- Ophie and Alerie

    Newly diagnosed system here. It took me years for my diagnosis bcs of my memory blanks or what i call "checking out" where i dissociate and then i loose time and memory, then weeks or months later i get snippets of memories where i have to ask people or myself, if i did the things. My switches don't have auditory tells/accents. Im also the secondary host. I really liked this video. It let me see how and why my doctors labelled me as a difficult prognosis. Im all squared up now tho.

    Autopilot question: I've a DID diagnosis. I've sort of got an autopilot in that, sometimes, it's like nobody is occupying the body - but it doesn't just fall over. Like - I can start vacuuming, and then dissociate, we're all like...communicating in the inner world...the body keeps vacuuming. Eventually, I come back, and I only vaguely remember even what the body was doing. Full amnesia is rare for me, except I do have full amnesia for some big things from my childhood.

      That is pretty normal, the body that we occupy can autopilot small tasks as well

      I don’t have DID, but I get this exact thing fairly often whenever I have a task to do (I don’t do much because depression and anxiety), so I’ll start doing a task and I’ll dissociate before or during, then either part way through or at the end I’ll stop dissociating and be confused as to how I got where I am and how I ended up doing what I’m doing. If I think hard about it I can piece together what happened, but it always feels strange to just let myself do things on autopilot to the point where it’s difficult to remember what even happened

I don't know why, but it makes perfect sense for me on an intuitive level. Looks like many protectors are hyper vigilant by nature, and it's a very draining state to be in constantly. They might use caffeine to stay ready for anything for long periods. I may be wrong, but that's the best guess I have for now.

    My autopilot is when im dissociating, if there’s some weird spasm when I get pulled from front but no one else is there to take over, but it goes off the last memory, so there was one time I was getting into the shower, and I dissociated when I turned the hot water on, and I snapped out of it because my autopilot was getting in the shower, the hot water only shower. Things like that.

    Do you have any tips on telling apart BPD from OSDD-1b or DID? I know the DSM criteria for each of these, but when it comes to figuring out "do I also have either OSDD-1b or DID, or is it just my BPD?" it gets very confusing.
    (tldr; I have a system, but it might be from BPD, with dissociative symptoms being from BPD or DP/DR. It's very hard to tell.)

    *minor drug/drink talk*
    The other night my body got 'taken over' by what introduced himself as a 'rabbit in a hat' and acted psychotic and insulted me (the original personality) but I watched it all happening and felt like I had no energy and was just glitching behind my eye sockets. Last night my friend mentioned pills and I got taken over yet again by some kind of drug obsessed alcohol obsessed guy who was hooked on the idea of getting high and pissed even though I never have, I had the same feeling just watching it happen. I'm really confused because I have little to no amnesia but I act completely out of character and I'm really tired and confused coming back in. I thought it was a conscious decision at first to give me emotions personalities but I can't take them back and I can't get out when they take over. What is this? Am I going mad? Am I mimicking? I'd also like to point out that I have dissociative seizures and suspected c-ptsd if that affects anything at all. Thank you for any input.

      emerald fraser it sounds like on the super hippy side you’re an empath, you pick up on people’s emotions and feel them yourself. On the more “sciencey” side maybe there’s something else (Did, bipolar, schizophrenic disorders? Not a doctor!) I would talk to a therapist, not saying that in a bad way but we’re both going “hmm?” at your situation and I really hope you’ve found some solace as it’s been a month and all after this comment.

    You really should have specified what disorder you were talking about, because there’s many types of osdd and just knowing that people probably watched this video and now have a clear idea of what the disorder is when...lots of the info isn’t right...is discouraging to me.
    Like I have osdd but I’m not part of a system and I experience amnesia and no one ever believes me because of misinformation like this, people always try and tell me I have did when I don’t. I don’t know. I just wish you would have said what type of osdd you have so viewers can differentiate and not make assumptions about the whole disorder :/

    If this is an ignorant question I apologize. Let's say I'm in a relationship with a DID lady, and all of her alters are dating me and one alter is a man (I'm heterosexual) how is the best way to handle her male alter wanting to be in the mix? I have friends who are homosexual, and I stick up for them, and they know I'm a loyal friend, but that's all I can be. I can't be their lover.

    • @sleepytimejunction8780
      @sleepytimejunction8780 5 років тому +5

      Honestly? Keep an open open mind and see how things are like when or IF it really ever comes to this! For starters, you don't have to be romantically and/or sexually involved with everyone in a system...
      I mean the alters are all different people with different preferences [!!!!] and for the littles intercourse is usually in most cases entirely out of the question anyway (or should be at least). So who knows maybe you 'don't have to worry about that' anyway?
      Chances are you won't have to.
      In case it DOES come to that though, you know, you won't lose your status as the heterosexual™ if you just give it a try.
      Only to experiment.
      You never know.
      You could miss out on the relationship of your lifetime!
      Or, err... One of them, depending on who else in the system you're involved with ^^`
      Settle this with your partner THEN instead worrying about a 'what if' now mate 😶
      The 'I'm like- such a loyal supporter but I just couldn't ever date a guy' thing, something about this rubs me the wrong way...
      I can understand you have your preferences, and I honestly couldn't ever have a sexual relationship with a woman either, still, I wouldn't rule out a romantic relationship if I really fell in love with her 😔
      Maybe it's because love and sex are two entirely different things for me? And because it's still a pretty narrow minded perspective in a way...
      I mean, whatever happens happens, right?
      You just fall in love with someone or you don't.
      But immediately implying 'ugh like ewww' is not a good way to go into this, I guess...
      I'd also say don't worry about yourself too much. A relationship has, in the most traditional sense, two people, so it also depends a lot on your partner and what they're comfortable with, you know? Just think about it:
      That male alter would, just going by your example, still be in a female body - so it's a question of how far they're comfortable with stuff and willing to go, dysphoria is no joke.
      Please, you'll find some sort of arrangement or agreement when it comes to that.
      Just like you've got your preferences they have theirs and all sides should be equally taken under account and be respected.

Trans, lesbian gals are pretty cool. :O I thought I was hetro too. Its all good though, just have to be well versed in who is who in a system (their tells) and be sure of whom you give random affection to or just ask first who's around before being romantically or sexually affectionate.

      @PhoenixChix 5 років тому

      Hey there! Sorry I’m not from the channel, but I do know a lot about DID. From what I’ve heard, they’ll know if it’s an alter because the alters will all argue with each other, while an inner monologue will be less aggressive? That’s how Chloe from DissociaDID described it:)

    • @NyeGills
      @NyeGills 5 років тому +4

      @@PhoenixChix I dont know if that would be accurate because I dont have did or any dissociative disorder whatsoever, but I argue with myself quite often and can be very harsh to myself. I think for people with alters it's probably more like, they're listening to people in another room talking to each other. They're passively listening, not talking themselves.

      I guess it’s hard to explain because you can usually just tell? Well for me it was in that case, I’m part of a osdd 1b system.
      With thoughts and inner monologue to yourself, it’s one sided.
      As a host, I can hear them talking in the background, like if two people next to you we’re having a conversation, and I can talk to them through my consciousness and I get a response back.
      (Example) If I were to ask an alter who’s co-con or in the headspace their name, they respond.
