You did NOT cause it yourself. Harkons plan was to kill serana in order to use ALL of her blood to fully corrupt the bow. This would have caused the sun to fully disappear forever. The dragonborn only uses corrupted arrows so the effect is WAY weaker.
There is every reason to stay with the dawnguard. You get badass crossbows, and armoured troll followers, and if you want to become a vampire lord you can still ask Seranna to give you a Iil bite. Dawngaurd for life.
The only thing about the vampire route is you get some really good rings on a side quest that benefit magic and vampire characters. Also like infinite human cattle but even so all of that isn't worth giving up the crossbow for.

I, one of the Aldmeri Dominion's finest covert Warriors will also join the Dawnguard cause, these vampires are retched abominations and like all abominations must be purged in Holy fire This time you have the fullest support of the Dominion, we will see that these vampires are destroyed
Restoration was very underwhelming as a school of magic before dawngaurd, Dawngaurd took the restoration class and turned it from a cleric to paladin. Dawngaurd also did alot of great things for melee and ranged builds that are locked behind the dawngaurd route. Honestly I never saw a benefit for a non-vampire to go down the vampire route. I mean I would argue the Dawngaurd route has the best story and characters where even Isran who you see as someone who solely hates vampires undergo development to tolerate the existence of Serana. It's a really cool line where you help the dawngaurd grow, you help them destroy the vampire lord Harkin and restore a bit of hope to skyrim. I honestly argue Israns war against vampires saved skyrim more than the Civil War. It's a side story but to me it always felt a bit more important than the main questline.
Isran should have straight up killed Serana as soon as he saw her, especially so after finding out that she's a daughter of coldharbour. Letting her live goes against purpose of the dawnguard, hell they let her stay in their head quarters. As soon as she has a falling out with the group they'll have another massive threat on their hands.
@@ElCabra91the thing is alduin is not scary enough to make it seem his quest is dangerous and the final battle with him is pretty underwhelming, and Harkon is stupid, so only miraak gives this true feeling of danger throughout his quest... until you fight him, he's laughably easy even on legendary
As someone who joined Volkihar: … i agree, Dawnguard is 100% better Rule#69: always choose the choice that is displayed as the quest/dlc’s name Dawnguard, The Black Star, etc.
Grand Soul gems are easily made and purchased. If you get the Black Star you give up a follower. I like knowing I have a network of agents out there ready to assist if called upon.
Is she even really that good? I’d rather kill her, keep the Black Star - and spare Erandur during his quest to use him. His voice is even sexier, and I’m straight
Recently did the vampire quest line for the first time. Boy howdy, it was kinda depressing. The dawn guard as a faction almost completely ceased to have any influence on the story. You never saw Isran again, even as adversary (who could have made a perfect villain with his uncompromising approaches). There was just less going on.
After completing Kindred Judgement, you can get a quest called Destroy the Dawnguard but it just involves killing all it's members. Interestingly though, you can pacify some of the vendors there and buy some of the spells that are exclusive to the Dawnguard faction if running through a wall isn't your preference
It’s conflicts like this that make me glad that Skyrim lets you make multiple characters. My main character stayed with the dawnguard and became a werewolf but I can also make a separate character to do the vampire quest
@@solidskullz5736 yeah that’s exactly what I’ve done. My main is a Nord warrior but my newer character is a sneak archer wood elf who can turn into a werewolf for the emergency close combat situations. While my Nord is all two handers who can turn into a vamp lord for the range lol I love it.
The questline sucks... Its best to avoid it now... Especially after the anniversary upgrade which introduced many types of crossbows avaiable from the start
I would rather sell my soul to a Daedra prince to get an overpowered fursuit than to sell it to another Daedra prince to be slightly more stealthy and have to sleep most of the day because the sun hurts my feelings.

Funny how the Dawnguard lore went from protecting a single vampire nobleman during the day to destroying one of the most powerful vampire covens of the last millennia. And it only took us a week. 😎
I think they killed said vampire noble after they realised he was a vampire, which got them declared traitors to Skyrim by the Jarl of the rift (riften) at the time who was the father of said vampire noble
What would you have? Weakness to the sun and the most used element in the game for some sneak and illusion? Or Cool weapons and cool restoration spells no cost to you what so ever?
All this vampire junk reminded me of that “family” cult from fallout 3 that thinks they are vampires, I went there and did the quest to get Ian back and I was thinking “I’m gunna have to murder all these crazies aren’t I” and I’m talking to them and doing the speech checks and the whole time I’m ready for a total bloodbath and I have grenades equipped and everything but somehow I managed to get Ian to go home without murdering people, and I got the vampires to protect the nearby town in exchange for blood bags Kinda disappointed that I did so well and didn’t get to slaughter them all, their leader had a really nice sword… but he did give me the blueprint for it after the quest

Played dawnguard for the first time in a while and laughed so hard at the stupid looking vampire tryhard harkon that I did the restoration loop just to kill him with a fork.
I could imagine decades down the line a group of Dawnguard members telling the story of a legendary member who stormed a castle full of powerful vampires and killed a vampire lord so ancient he predates the Empire by stabbing him in the neck with a fork. Reminds me of the John Wick pencil story
I always liked the Dawnguard. So much so that in one of my playthroughs I bum-rushed my way through Harkon’s castle and killed most of the enemies so none of the Dawnguard died.
Harkon:"Give me the bow, mortal." Me:"Ok." Harkon:"Haha, finally after all this time, I have Auriel's bow. Now, perish." Me:"No, You."(Smacks Harkon with a Dawnguard Rune Axe(Legendary) with such a high body count that it would make James A. Jeneisse reject it) Harkon:"Agh,... Serana, your own father?"(Disintegrates) Serana:"What the (bleep) just happened?!"

Yeah I became a vampire to see how it was, oh boy was it boring after a day. It’s annoying as hell to go weak because of the sun too. Vampire gf ain’t worth that much, and you can’t even marry her so what’s the point
one small issue: first vampire quest: go to a drug den, get high, get free telekinesis, get bloodstone chalice first dawnguard quest: go to the fucking reach and some bear cave, retrieve two people, then gain access to 9 consecutive fetch quests across the province involving clearing entire dwarven dungeons top to bottom before you can have permission to BUY or CRAFT the enhanced dwarven crossbow and exploding bolts.
Honestly I refused the gift because I was debating if I would make my new character into a vampire or not and I was thinking about let serana bite me... That was until i saw this video I gained alot of respect for the dawnguard lore. PRAISE THE SUN.

Vampires: can't stay in sunlight=can't touch grass=betas
Dawnguards: bathe in sunlight=strong bones and healthy body=alphas
There is every reason to stay with the dawnguard. You get badass crossbows, and armoured troll followers, and if you want to become a vampire lord you can still ask Seranna to give you a Iil bite. Dawngaurd for life.
Not just crossbows, but one of the most powerful ranged weapons in the game
And two doggo followers
The only thing about the vampire route is you get some really good rings on a side quest that benefit magic and vampire characters. Also like infinite human cattle but even so all of that isn't worth giving up the crossbow for.
@@Azure_fae as primarily a mage player the vampiric bonuses are just too damn good pass up.
@@HectorJimenez-ee9zi yes but enhanced crossbow ignores 50% of armor which is ridiculous. You can still become a vampire in the dawnguard side you just don't get the rings from the side quest.

"more important than the main questline"
Sure the civil war is pretty lame but did you forget about Alduin - The motha fuckin world eater?

I think it's the least dangerous of all the three main quests, Alduin been first, then Miraak and finally Harkon
