Argonian has always been my go-to. I've tried other races throughout the years but like a boomerang, I've always returned right back to the argonian. I feel naked/like a fish out of water when I play as something else.

I remember liking Imperials partly because the skill bonuses they start with are all skills I want to level up. While it doesn't make much difference in the long run, it is good to have that head start in making a battle mage.
As an Imperial treasure Hunter, I can say while we do lack claws or resistance to Magicka or anything else we can be ANYTHING (Sure Redguards might be anything but their adrenaline surge angles them more toward being a warrior type) so I chose to become a successful treasure hunter. Also gold does grow on trees in Skyrim so what's the harm in having a little more? I tell you, there's no better feeling then rooting around in your pocket and finding the extra 3 Septim's you need for that Sweet roll. Also being last just means we work that bit harder. And being anything means we can just as easily changed from a stealth archer to a battlemage mid combat. I believe Imperials are looked down on as not having any exploitable skills but the coin skill pays for itself as there is a LOT of containers to loot.
Imperials really are the best Battlemages due to their ability to master both magic and physical combat. They also get a head start on Heavy Armor and Block, which is a combo only Orcs match.
Every time I see somebody talk about the water breathing I wonder when the hell are you ever going underwater long enough to where that is useful in Skyrim.
Argonian werewolf for the win. Also, yeah. Finding something to disenchant "waterbreathing" from can be a pain, unless you resort to mods or console codes. Even with resetting vendor inventories, it's just something they don't seem to like to sell, much to the chagrin of my non-argonian followers.
I personally go with either Nord or Argonian due to Histkin and Battlecry being very effective defensive abilities. Additionally, disease resistance is a great plus for when there aren't any nearby shrines to interact with and frost resistance is useful for closing the gap between you and an enemy casting frost spells at you.
Yeah as someone who enjoys mixing Melee and Magic, i tend to pick Breton. Magic Resistance and Spell Absorption that can be further boosted through spells, perks and items can really make them strong against Mages. Combining that with using armor boosted by armor perks further makes them very tanky against all damage.
I'm a Kahjit to the core, their natural night eye is super useful in dark caves while I'm sneaking about. Just wish they detection buff while sneaking.
I have an argument with the orc, while they don't have any thief skills, the fact they can simply double the modifiers of any sneak attack with their ability is terrifying when you combine it with the Shrouded Gloves and the assassin blade perk, bringing your sneak attack multiplier to 60x or 120x if you attack with two daggers at the same time...
As always, I know everything you mentioned but it's still a delight to see one of your vids. The editing, pace... It must be so much work though! (having to calm everyone down, strike the pose just for a 2 seconds shot). As for the content itself, the High Elves are the obvious master race but I just can't help loving the Khajit so much. The voices, the looks, the mischief, it's too perfect.
Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, the recording can take a while and probably the most time-consuming part of the process, but it’s fun getting the right angles 👌 The Khajiit are definitely one of the coolest if not the coolest race to play!
I tried the imperial race a lil while back because I couldn't recall ever using it. I thought it was fine. I figured the same thing about the gold, but one thing I noticed is that my goal for money in rpgs is to get to a point where I could just buy everything I want and have money left over. But even when I am going full on scrooge mcduck mode, I don't really ever achieve that in Skyrim. Money is just always useful.
Khajiit Can Also Properly Use The Boots Of Blinding Speed Thanks To Night Eye, Now So Can Any Vampire (And If Tods Team Were Better At Coding Werewolves) But Not Everyone Wants To Build Around The Weaknesses Of Vampirism So...
Argonian for me, simply because that waterbreathing is so useful at early levels for escaping overwhelming foes. There has been many a time where i have escaped an angry Spriggan by hiding at the bottom of a lake or river.
Underwater fetch quests + trouble finding waterbreathing enchanted item to learn the enchantment from = developed preference for undrownable lizard dude.
Dude I've been getting back into Skyrim and I wanted to say thanks for providing amazing content for this game. It's awesome even after 12 years I still can watch stellar content creators like you, HeavyBurns, Cpt. Panda, and BardsCollegeGraduate, and Camelworks!
Not as much to say as last time - editing is still top-notch, and I love all the mod presentations built in! As for the Rankings, I actually can't argue much with any.. I reckon you looked more at mid-to-endgame for this & your points supported it all well. I feel like for the start especially Khajiit and Dunmer (with their daily ability) can provide a lot of help but, of course, later on that just nose-dives. Could be cool in TES6 let those abilities scale with you to a certain extent. My first race was Imperial, unknowing of the breadth of wealth ahead, but I trashed that one pretty quickly. After that I went with Dunmer, but any future playthrough ended up as Khajiit, for obvious Stealth Archer Reasons. In my last few runs after the few-year break I decided to branch out again though and picked some other races and honestly - very fun, I can't recommend everyone to just try around more in general. Personally I was quite shocked to see Argonian that high, so I might go for one on my next run. I'll be looking forward to the next vid, whatever may win the poll. Have a good one!
My opinion is that high elves, orcs and bretons are the best in that order. A flat resist magic is always nice, although with the right setup you can get that without being a breton, orcs have the best ability, in doubling your damage and halving your enemies, high elves get the fastest movement speed, a great magica regen ability, they start with an illusion spell (illusion is a fun skill tree, especially for stealth mages) and already +50 magica. If you are in survival mode though, nords.
Hey, Mister Wizard! What do you think about a video ranking the best living conditions throughout all of Skyrim's holds. Speaking specifically about which cities / holds would be the best and worst to live in. Love your videos! 😁
Very good video, I'm biased towards orcs myself and would put them first, but I like to play the warrior. I understand that's not everyone's choice, but glad to see we're still at least top 3. 😆
I was like “all right! My favorite race the Imperials first!” And then I realized it was because it was the bottom of the barrel. Which is understanding from a gameplay point of view…
I honestly don't see why the Altmer constantly gets ranked at the #1 spot, the extra magicka and magicka regen will never be useful to a warrior build, as potions will almost always be faster and ultimately more effective than spells for healing, and unlike Bretons, they'll need a standing stone or a ward to get that level of magick resistance. Their height is also somewhat of a disadvantage, as enemy mages and archers will have an easier time hitting them with arrows and spells like Ice Spike or incinerate. Ultimately, my ranking would go as such 10. Imperial 9. Bosmer 8. Khajiit 7. Dunmer 6. Redguard 5. Altmer 4. Nord 3. Argonian 2. Breton 1. Orc
I love being one of 3 things a duel wielding perish maniac that kills anything that moves, a stealthy cat that power levels every thief skill to become practically uncatchable, or a magic conjugation based elven spell sword
Another banger! I disagree with your top pick and I think breton is king for his magic resistance without wasting enchantment slots but I also applaud you for placing argonians so high since my biggest save so far was on an argonian! Production value is top as always 💯
I don't use torches or Candlelight. I use a crafted wearable light source from the mod Tweaks Glowing Baubles by TweakOPedia. Comes in 8 colours, takes up no armour or accessory slot, only weighs 0.1, simple to craft at any cooking station, and lights an area better and clearer than any torch. Also, when sneaking, the light automatically shuts off. It's one of my favourite convenience mods.
I took a DNA test in middle school to find out I’m 59% Welsh and that got you a sub right away just happens Skyrim be my favorite game, those two things and amazing editing I watch ur vids good job fellow Wizard
Argonians are still my personal favourite race. They're the coolest race visually, their culture is amazing (the fact that they barely broke a sweat dealing with the Oblivion crisis while every other race struggled is funny). Bretons would be my second favourite & my go to if I want to make an entirely mage character. Third would probably be the orcs. They'd be my go too if I want to make the ultimate tank character (even though you can do an good tank build with Argonians aswell)
Very cool. I wish we had bound weapons that applied bleed, poison and a kind of fire damage over time effect. The weapons should look just like the normal bound weapons only with green fire and green spectral appearance. The fire should glow green similarly to the way the lunar weapons are supposed to and. Anyway all this to offset the lower damage of bound weapons. It should benefit from all the buffs that normal weapons and cast magics do. Duel casting should boost the raw damage and lastly better rune spells. Maybe a bow could cast a poison rune on any surface it hits. One last thing, dule casting should place one handed weapons in the right hand not the left.
Always nice to see a video, personally I enjoy choosing Imperial or Nord since they have the best start skills for combat + having a good starting skill spread. A random question, but what ENB/Weather/Lighting/Fire/blahblahblah do you use? I really like it's look. = )
I would put orc as number 1 they have the best ability in the game berserk rage letting them deal double damage and taking half physical damage, any race can achieve full magic resistance upto the cap including orc, and they are the best race to pick for survival legendary mode due to their survival resistances while having the 2nd fastest run speed if at max height. Yeah you can cast spells alot more with high elf but you can enchant your Armor to make spells cost 0% magika mid game anyway meaning infinite spells on any race, so the high elf ability is only really useful early to mid game where as berserk rage is always useful and those survival resistances are very good plus they are badass.
It was very close between Orc and Altmer tbf but I felt the Orcs could have had a better ability. Blood-Kin is a cool idea, but it’s too easy to satisfy, is hardly worth it and you can just hop the fence unfortunately.

I believe Imperials are looked down on as not having any exploitable skills but the coin skill pays for itself as there is a LOT of containers to loot.
this is what i was thinking the whole video
Imperials really are the best Battlemages due to their ability to master both magic and physical combat. They also get a head start on Heavy Armor and Block, which is a combo only Orcs match.
And purchasing training levels is hard to do without money. Of which you'll almost never be short on if you search every urn in a dungeon.
@@realsuperbunnyman2460 always gotta search every urn and corpse, lol
I have like 120k rn in vanilla skyrim legendary edition with a khajit character, the small coin bonus is unnecessary lol
Honestly I have a personal preference for Argonian with the healing ability and free underwater breathing.
Histskin is insane tbf and the waterbreathing is convenient
Every time I see somebody talk about the water breathing I wonder when the hell are you ever going underwater long enough to where that is useful in Skyrim.
@@getonleagueguys7557 Pilgrim's Trench. That's about it. Better off just getting a Necklace of Waterbreathing.
@@vladyvhv9579 Radiant Raiment has the necklace frequently.
Master wizard! Blink twice if you were forced to say those things about the altmer/thalmor because we all know you are the best at magic! >:^O
*blinks twice*
I have an argument with the orc, while they don't have any thief skills, the fact they can simply double the modifiers of any sneak attack with their ability is terrifying when you combine it with the Shrouded Gloves and the assassin blade perk, bringing your sneak attack multiplier to 60x or 120x if you attack with two daggers at the same time...
Every time I watch this channel, I want to break out jammin' to The Wizard by Black Sabbath!
Great ranking by the way!
There's a perk in the heavy armour tree which adds the armour rating of your gauntlets to your unarmed damage.
It has been 12 years since Skyrim has been release and we are still getting content after all this time XD Keep it up
As always, I know everything you mentioned but it's still a delight to see one of your vids.
Yeah, the recording can take a while and probably the most time-consuming part of the process, but it’s fun getting the right angles 👌
The Khajiit are definitely one of the coolest if not the coolest race to play!
Once you’ve completed Thieves Guild quests you get more gold and gems in one chest than you would get in the whole dungeon before.
Underwater fetch quests + trouble finding waterbreathing enchanted item to learn the enchantment from = developed preference for undrownable lizard dude.
i cannot believe you put my beloved Dunmer at 7th place! the only thing they lack (which, coinsidentally, the silly and hated altmer do) is height.
Dude I've been getting back into Skyrim and I wanted to say thanks for providing amazing content for this game. It's awesome even after 12 years I still can watch stellar content creators like you, HeavyBurns, Cpt. Panda, and BardsCollegeGraduate, and Camelworks!
It’s my pleasure and thank you for the kind words :)
hey wizard i just want to say i love how your videos are edited and planned, its very intuitive and pleasing, keep it up!
Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words and glad you enjoyed :)
Argonians have a lot of traits that never leave you with your pants down and just generally improve quality of life.
Takes all the stress out of the water portion of the end of the battle with Mercer.
@@drengillespiethere’s no stress there anyway lmao the water rises and u get out
Lusty ones?
My opinion is that high elves, orcs and bretons are the best in that order. A flat resist magic is always nice, although with the right setup you can get that without being a breton, orcs have the best ability, in doubling your damage and halving your enemies, high elves get the fastest movement speed, a great magica regen ability, they start with an illusion spell (illusion is a fun skill tree, especially for stealth mages) and already +50 magica.
If you are in survival mode though, nords.
Didn't know a lot of this, especually about the Falmer Helmet! Very cool video, thank you!
As an Orc main I am very happy with their high ranking! however I'm a bit peeved that they're outshined by those high elven bastards...
High Elves making #1 makes me so happy you have no idea. I feel like we usually get shafted by lists like these due to popularity of other races.
Hey, Mister Wizard! What do you think about a video ranking the best living conditions throughout all of Skyrim's holds. Speaking specifically about which cities / holds would be the best and worst to live in. Love your videos! 😁
I like it! Noted 📝 and thanks 🧙♂️
Im honestly just happy that my lizard boys are high up on the list, people usually rank them lower
Awesome video! Informative and entertaining! I didn't know there was a height difference between the races, let alone that it affected movement speed.
Incredible editing! It's hard to see channels that still make skyrim videos
Rank real world races next please!
😂
That would be an absolute disaster 😭
Nice video! I would love to see a similar one for planet Earth!
Very good video, I'm biased towards orcs myself and would put them first, but I like to play the warrior. I understand that's not everyone's choice, but glad to see we're still at least top 3. 😆
Thanks for watching!
Argonians for life!! Especially with some decent underwater mods for that treasure
I was like “all right! My favorite race the Imperials first!” And then I realized it was because it was the bottom of the barrel. Which is understanding from a gameplay point of view…
they get a bad rap. they are definitely middle of the pack worthy. Bosmer should be 10.
For the empire
I bet our Lizard friends would be on first place without the Survival nerf. I love the Argonians
Ultimately, my ranking would go as such
10. Imperial
9. Bosmer
8. Khajiit
7. Dunmer
6. Redguard
5. Altmer
4. Nord
3. Argonian
2. Breton
1. Orc
That's a good point about the Altmer being an easier target! And glad we mostly agree
khajit are perfect for sneaking so therefore they make the inevitable stealth archer build more powerful
Khajit thinks Khajit are the best and most handsome.
Nord: because generic/jack of all trades doesn’t equal bad
High Elves at top? I smell Thalmor…
I'm now glad to know I choose the right race for Assassin thank you WelshWizard!
I am sure that Aldmeri Dominion loves this video. BTW I also like to play as Altmer mage.
I love being one of 3 things a duel wielding perish maniac that kills anything that moves, a stealthy cat that power levels every thief skill to become practically uncatchable, or a magic conjugation based elven spell sword
I love Bosmer lore and often play them. They have been terrible in every game statistically though.
I only play khajiit, balanced on all aspect with extra steps, its like having a tool that works on any circumstances
No way, Altmer propaganda on youtube
Orc are so OP. Berserker rage while turning into a werewolf or sneak attacking is crazy
Can't believe you ranked _farming equipment_ higher than dunmer
Racism tierlist
(this is a joke)
👀
8:30 the mini me sound effect killed me with laughter
Great video! Now rank all the races in the real world 👴🏻
Personally, Nords and Imperials have always been my two favorites.
Next video: ranking all rl races. Starting with the Bad ones..
Bretons are always my go to. Enemies that cast magic are always far more difficult to evade once in battle so resistance to magic makes most sense.
Khajiit, visualy
Skyrim: EYE BURNINGLY HIDEOUS WERE-SKEEVERS
eso: holy blessings from azurah herself, oh glory to the amazing eso khajiit :kowtow:
Khajiit stat wise
Skyrim: meow sneak
Eso: pounces with critical strikes from sneak kitty
For base gameplay, orc is easily the best. If you’re playing survival, they’re still pretty good, but getting cold quickly is still a pain.
imperials will always be number one in my heart, and here's why:
1. i miss martin septim :(
2. voice of the emperor lets you be niceys to people :)
Another banger! I disagree with your top pick and I think breton is king for his magic resistance without wasting enchantment slots but I also applaud you for placing argonians so high since my biggest save so far was on an argonian! Production value is top as always 💯
Agreed. I always run Breton for my perfect play throughs.
Welshwizard i love your vids a lot you are one of the last UA-camrs that make good Skyrim content
I appreciate that, thanks man!
Np I just like spreading love and appreciation instead of hate
High Elf Master Race. The Thalmor ain't lying about that.
Can never go wrong with Bretons' magic resistance.
This video deserves more likes and View, such good editing and more 😊
I took a DNA test in middle school to find out I’m 59% Welsh and that got you a sub right away just happens Skyrim be my favorite game, those two things and amazing editing I watch ur vids good job fellow Wizard
Just a Very high quality video
Clearly we all use the nord race. It is the ultimate race even without the best passive.
Ah yes, my favorite race reigns supreme. Good show, fellow wizard.
im gonna recreate this video but IRL
WOO Race Tier list LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
Altmer is my top fav race and I was ready for the race bashing, but High Elf got first and I couldn't be any happier! I love those tall dudes so much.
You should do a let's play of Skyrim. Love seeing all the mods you have and you're funny so it'd be awesome
Khajiit bonuses (including Survival mode) are all about utility.
wtf these videos are so well produced why only 70k subs
Just checking in to verify you got Number One placed correctly. Carry on.
Based on the criteria you used, I would put Altmer more towards the middle, and Orcs or Bretons on top.
Orcs and bretons gonna be high, I think
