It’s so true, even when the person you’re helping….in my case, my son. Loved getting him into the hobby. I do allow him to tinker and explore with making adjustments, but it comes with a price. “Dad, why is it 4 cycling again?” Love it!!!!

Looks like a fair deal for $50.....I see lot's of shysters on Craigslist & FB marketplace buying a $130 engine kit and putting it on a used $25 bike=$155. Then trying to sell it to someone (a kid) for $500 hoping the buyer doesn't realize they need lots of work to stay running. If I get another engine kit I'll sell mine for what I have invested in it but it'll have a balanced crank, ported/polished case & jug.

Clamping style hub adapters on anything other than a coaster brake hub will slip and bend spokes.

How much do u think a used mongoose grudge 26" motorized bike running resales for???

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  2 місяці тому

In the motorized bike market, I've observed a general trend.
In most cases, once a motor is added to a bike, its original value tends to become irrelevant, except for a few specific niche scenarios and custom builds. Those with the expertise to build and modify bikes often prefer to create their own, while those less knowledgeable about them may try to negotiate lower prices.
Furthermore, additional add-ons and customizations don't seem to significantly impact their resale value. Realistically, I'd consider myself fortunate to fetch $300 for the build, but I'd expect closer to $200 in most cases.
Also note: Selling a gas bike should include blunt disclaimers about legality, and liability.

Easy first bike builds, The Kent Bayside, and Huffy Lockland. would be my first picks.
The Roadmaster Granite Peak is an easy build too, but you may need to cute out the center of the air box (easy and wont hurt anything) to make it fit.
The Huffy Cranbrook is super easy to build on as well, but you NEED to know how to readjust the rear wheel bearings after you install the sprocket, and add rim brakes. the coaster brake on the Cranbrook can fail under hard braking, so I would add rim brakes.
ALWAYS REMOVE THE FENDERS on any bike you get
      they are dangerous!
Best value motor I see right now is the Wild Cat PK80 from californiamotorbikes.com/shop
The Seeutek pk80 on amazon is a good motor too.
Or the Silver Slant from bicycle-engines.com

I also am new to motorized bicycle world and I would go with a 4 stroke kit. If you can start any of your dad's lawn equipment Chain saw, weed Wacker, push mower then no problem for you to start the bike. The two stroke motors can be tricky to start for beginners.

This was not built for $50, it was found at a yard sale for $50.
No time is lost if you enjoy what your are doing.
