This is the mod you where talking about, I like this better than filing the key-way, My blue bike has a filed key-way, I enjoy the Smolik plate , I use the flash cards they are thick are work perfect 👽👍🏻
So I got a Catnip high performance cdi kit from California motor bikes, It has a strong spark and it is firing to early. This is on a Zeda 80 Firestorm, all stock. It will start while you are pedaling but when you stop pedaling and the bike slows down it locks the engine up. I think possibly it's a flaw in the engine timing. The Stock cdi works fine but the spark is so weak that it doesn't actually ignite the fuel mixture until maximum compression. That's my theory anyways. I'm going to try your mod and see what happens. I guess it could also be the CDI, but I have 2 of them that do the exact same thing.
Thanks for the tip.I have to ask about the paint on the case behind the magneto though.? I was given a bunch of grief because I actually used a stud into my frame to ground the wire from the magneto as they thought it useless. I use rubber to insulate my engine for vibration, and the frame's sealed against rust.I figure the better the ground the best.?. Never had a coil, magneto, nor CDI burn up in over 4K miles. Wouldn't the case paint need removing behind the magneto too for best contact? Edit=I'm in NO way being difficult or mean. This is a real question.Thank you.
No I agree it should be removed engine still runs just fine but I think the varnish is a thicker coating the engine paint is actually anodizing so it’s not a thick coating and therefore doesn’t effect the ground
My dirt bike used to have a sticker “don’t laugh this bike is retarded” but in reality it was high compression and timing was advanced. How would you add flywheel weight to these motors ? I’m building a dirt jumper with low gearing and need that low end grunt to get up the jump faces

Yessir the keyway can easily migrate out of position if not tight

Thanks for the more updated content thats not years old
No problem man
Doesn’t motor turn clockwise? Shouldn’t magneto be moved counterclockwise to advance?

What motor you got?
phantom 85v3@@keeganhache6667
Why would the sticker say “retarded” if you advanced the timing? Makes zero sense.
What all did you do to get a different exhaust on that bt80 you have?
Mine had the standard exhaust port
@@keeganhache6667 figures lol just my luck
I replaced Avery thing there is for timing and i steel don't have any spark
Then ur magnet in the magneto is out of alignment. Did you pull it off then but it back in backwards
I found a keyway set. If anyone is interested I have a link.
Yeah man post the link!
