Auto Live View On Your TV & Amazon Fire Devices For Ring, Blink, Arlo, Wyze when Motion Is Detected

  • Today, is a part 2 video on the Auto Live View routine in the Amazon Alexa app so that your Ring, Blink, Arlo and Wyze WIFI cameras will stream the footage automatically to your Amazon Echo Show devices and also now on your TV using the Fire TV stick and even your Amazon Fire tablets.
One of the issues in my previous video is the timeout time especially with battery powered WIFI cameras. During my testing, different brands and models of WiFi cameras have different timeout times from 1 minute to 20 minutes...ironically, the longer timeout times are mostly battery powered cameras. Today, I'll show you an additional routine that you need to do so that you can stop the streaming of the camera in a time that you set and you don't have to worry about the battery life on your cameras.
I will also demo in this video how this routine works with streaming to your TV using Amazon Fire TV stick and Fire tablets.

Hi LifeHackster, thanks for the very informative video. FYI, you said that you can not stream automatically to two Echo devices at the same time using a Ring camera. There is a way around this. So... for your first Echo device create the detection routine just like you said. For the next device, create the same routine but insert a short delay (5sec wait) before the custom ‘show ring camera’ instruction. You see, you can stream to multiple devices if you ask (speak to alexa) directy. But Alexa will not issue the same command to multiple devices at the same time, so the by inserting the 5sec delay to the second device, ... its the same instruction, .... at a different time. Problem solved. (Kinda)

I tried your suggestion above and used 2 routines for each device (1 trigger & 1 timeout). However, the out timeout on 2nd device doesn’t work. Any idea how I could fix this?

Sucks that it doesn't always work on multiple echo shows. I have one in the living room and one in the bedroom, and had to set a routine schedule for them not to run at the same time. Amazon really should improve the system to allow it across all devices simultaneously.

This is great content ! I did notice on the newer Firestick 4k Max devices the “go home” command will bring it back to picture in picture and still leave the camera streaming I had to add an additional routine and give it five more seconds to cancel picture in picture so it would finally go home and stop streaming. The command was “Tell Alexa to stop picture in picture on Fire TV “

I like this for possibly being woken up at night by a Ring alarm (or just a Ring sensor). It would be great to just look at an Echo show on the bedside table to see what’s up. A question - can you have the Echo show resting screen to be completely dark during normal sleep hours? I am just installing a Reolink NVR and PoE cams for history without a subscription. I see the your Echo Show as a great complimentary system. I have Hoobs seeing all the Ring sensors so plan on turning Homekit controlled lights on an alarm condition too.

Hi LifeHackster, your videos are awesome, thank you! You mention that the ring WiFi cams (wired and wireless) can only show life view for 10 till 20 mins. Why is that? We have a child with special needs and recently he started to have seizures. So now we are interested in having permanent live views of some of our wired ring indoor cams. Do you know of a way to get around the 10 minute cutoff time, to have a permanent live view? Or should we purchase another system to accomplish this?

Great video! I needed some advice..
    Here are my 3 scenarios
    1. I wish to use something like an Arlo Video Door Bell and I want it to show up immediately on my fire HD 8+ (show mode), is this possible? I noticed the lag, will Echo Show be a better alternative to the FireHD 8+ tablet? I will need the 2 way audio feature too
    2. I wish to use an Ecobee SmartCamera or Arlo Baby Monitor and I want it to immediately show up on my FireHD 8+ Tablet as soon as it senses motion? Will this work on the tablet or is Echo Show a better alternative. I will need 2 way audio feature too.
    3. I wanted to use the FireHD 8+ tablet in Show Mode but this time to view recipes on the UA-cam App by reconfiguring the FireHD Tablet to support Google Playstore. If I do this, can the above 2 scenarios be supported using this Fire HD 8+
    Appreciate your advice, thanks

I appreciate your videos, but in this case, would suggest yet another modification to the routine to make it work with the Fire TV...at least both of mine. You suggest "Go home" in the second script, but if you're watching TV and it executes it will do exactly that, it will go to the Home screen, but not to the programming you were watching before the camera view triggered. Instead use the simple "Stop" command which will then return to the program you were previously watching.

I'm using the EUFY 2K BATTERY DOORBELL (wired) with LIVE VIEW (on doorbell press) with the ECHO SHOW. EUFY fails miserably in their implementation with ALEX-A because it stops recording when Live View is activated. This means that when you are not home and someone presses the doorbell, the ECHO SHOW will load Live View and force the recording to stop. If you don't look immediately at your phone, you have no recording of the event either. For this reason, the EUFY doorbell integration with ALEX-A is NOT a good idea. EUFY needs to allow for continued recording even when Live View is activated. EUFY FAIL.
