Auto Liveview on Echo Show, When Ring Doorbell Is Pressed

If you have a Ring doorbell camera and you have an Alexa Echo Show, you probably wish that the Echo show will automatically show a liveview, if someone presses your doorbell. This video will show you how to do it, especially when the official way does not work. I will also show you how to automatically turn the liveview off to go back to the home screen.

I gave all amazon products 1 star review for not allowing auto live view on doorbell press. Amazon does this intentionally so that you buy their chime.

Native auto liveview doesn’t work because of device name mismatch between Ring and Alexa apps. Make sure they’re named exactly the same and it will work with no further workarounds.

Can you have it set to go home after a min or two? The camera pops up but don't turn off.

Check around 8:00. You have to set up another routine to turn it off after no motion for several minutes.

I think if you do not tell Alexa to "go home", it may just stay on the live view for a while. I have never tested how long it will time out, though.
