Keep up the good work and need to see more videos on the protege
Definitely easier than I thought. I might give this a shot on my MSP.
Keeping the BJ protege alive. I just picked up an MP3 myself.
awesome little cars. Considering selling mine, or 2J is300 drivetrain swapping it. tough choices.
I have a familia that i'm converting to protege and don't see many videos about it apart from you♥️♥️
Message me about anything, I know the car like the back of my hand
Okay thanks... I messaged you on insta
I bought my first car last week and it’s a protege hatch Es so thanks for all the sick videos bro.
Awesome! Be sure to address the wheel well rust spots before they get too bad.
I love the hatches though
WOW impressive but I need you to show more closeups...of the car stuff too! 😄
Nicely done!
I just love that yellow strut bar and MP3 engine cover.
Might you do a timing belt and water pump video also?
I know there's not a big following on that car anymore but I hope you'll consider.
Thank you! The yellow accents are to die for :)
Ah I should have! Unfortunately I sold the vehicle recently.
I regret not filming the engine rebuild. But I could give you the document for the process on doing the timing belt and water pump if you would like.
Making a timing belt / water pump video right now!

Where did you purchase the gasket kit? I've looked everywhere for the kit "with Bolts" and can not find...Please point me in the right direction..

I have a 1997, would it relatively be the same when i try to fix that or do you know of a video/article that would explain how to fix it?
It's the same general concept. Removing the spark plug wires, then valve cover gasket bolts, then replacing the gasket. The torque and sequence would be different though.
Why specific car is this? I have seen so many different torque specs across the internet. I have a 2003 Mazda Protege LX, and I don’t know what torque to tighten it to.
It depends on your engine size and likely your production year. This is the 2.0L 2001 mp3, slightly different than all proteges. What engine do you have?
@@TheCherryGarage I believe it is a 2.0L I-4
@@a.j.preller6052 the torque specs I used should be yours as well
@@TheCherryGarage Great thanks, man I really appreciate it. Have a good weekend.
I set my torque wrench to 5.5 foot pounds and 2 of my bolts broke off in the head. Numbers 1&2 in torque sequence 😱🥺😭 I can not find them anywhere online... Would you happen to have a link?
Unfortunately I can't find a factory replacement set. However, you could measure the length, diameter, and thread pitch, and order a set from a fastener manufacturer. I don't have the car anymore so I can't measure these and find them :(
Can you show me the value cover diagram for the value cover gasket
I'm not sure what you're asking, can you rephrase?
How can you measure 5.5 ft-lbs by hand
Experience :)
Just imagine pulling 5-6lbs on the end of the 1foot long ratchet. Or 10-12lbs of the end of a 6" long ratchet.
