Thanks again for sharing this very informative video. I will be doing the same install on my e46
Thank you! You got this!
Im not going to lie but I do like subis. But a full upgrade getting it stoked. Would be a crazy rush when flying highway. Put some twin turbos in her.
Very informative ,thanks for the info
Fully synthetic in an old engine?
I need to see how you hooked up the oil feed to the vanos port behind the oil filter housing. Is that the best place to run a line from?
That's the only place we could find worthwhile. We took the banjo bolt out, drilled down the center of it (through the main stem and head) and tapped for the fitting for the oil feed line to screw onto. I'll try and snag a photo somehow, you can message us on IG
@TheCherryGarage Good stuff man. That makes a lot of sense, tap the banjo bolt, I couldnt visualize it at first. Thanks for the info 🫡
love the mr2 content!!!
I had that mod done on blue mr2 already b4 i dropped it off
What radiator did you use and how did you mount it? I have a Conquest with an older 5.0 swap and always had cooling issues but cant find a radiator to fit. Your video said it was a Griffin radiator with the right specs (which you said were 26"W x 15"H x 2.5"D in a reply to another comment). Were you able to mount it to the stock body or did you have to modify anything on the body to mount it? Did your video also say that you had to relocate the inlet/outlets on teh radiator? Also, Do you have the Griffin model/part # so I can buy one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx
What I did was measure the space and found the closest option I could through Facebook market. The griffin was a modified dirt race track use radiator. I had to modify all of the mounts and make new brackets and relocate the inlet/outlet. However, you shouldn't have any cooling issues. My first question is if you have the old-school engine fan or an electric cooling fan mounted to the radiator
Thank you. I have 2 pushers in front and 1 puller electric fan. I'm going to get radiator recored if I can't find one that fits. Thank you.
Js. If y'all got the time put all ya 10mm together 😂😂😂
🤣
Some subi work oww yea
Sounds great
Bisa d lebarin gak si 😊
Since i was a new driver, i wanted to upgrade from a Miata to a S2000, a kid at waterway i worked at even had one with wheels/exhaust/side skirts, it was clearly a much better car and also got more respect...but as we all know, it was like the car that never depreciated after leaving the lot. As consolation, I had to settle on turbo model MR2's instead as my go to "affordable fast car" than my Miata and stayed there, eventually owning a grand total of 5 mr2's and 3 miatas over the previous 20 years as a driver. I guess I did ok.
Sounds like you’ve done just fine! But who knows what’s in store, maybe an S2000 could still be in your future!
Love you telling the story!
Thank you! :)
If ya had magneto. 😂😂😂😂 Ez work. But the entire thing being rebuilt will look awesome
Art? 😂😂
That poor E36
It’s seen worse 😂 just wait what’s next
👍!! ! 💙💙💙
🍒🍒🍒
Your car looks great ,
Thanks 👍
A friend of mine drove on of these in 72-73. It was so different from the American cars most of us had!
Thats a fine aw11
Sounds pretty good now 🤘
Great teardown video!
Glad you enjoyed it
BTW, the reason that clutch failed is me...I was especially hard on it bcuz at the time i was making enuff money to easily finance fixing it. DOn't blame Toyota, that was 100% me that chose to intentionally kill that clutch. Ive been driving manuals all my driving life, i can keep clutches alive if need be. That clutch was holding on by a thread when i dropped it off. We have a stop sign at the top of a steep hill to a busy road to leave my subdivision, i seriously thought there was a chance on the last time i drove it, to you guys, that was going to kill the clutch finally and id be dropping it off by tow truck, but it held, and i knew if it held, that id prolly make it to you guys. BTW, when it comes to breaking in the clutch those first 1000 miles, i be taking the long way out of my subdivision to avoid using that stop sign, because it would be especially bad during the break in process on a clutch. The fuel filter got replaced early into my owners. I hope my pistons aren't pitted in there if it was running too lean, most 3s-gte's i've owned, the plugs are a tan brown as they should be and 90s turboi toyotas are renowned for actually tend to run rich even compared to other makes/manufacturers, the whites a bit concerning, however, i was conservative on boost/kept it stock. Also likely some old ass plugs in there, i went over on plugs/oil change cuz i knew it was getting several $10k in mechanic work on it soon, so i rode it out a bit longer than i should have. Usually the way it works, if knock occurs, the knock sensor is made of glass, it rapidly breaks first as toyota designed it to, which causes the car to pull tons of timing, it's a lot cheaper to fix a busted knock sensor than a busted motor from knock. I've gone through a knock sensor or 2 on a 3s-gte in my time.
We have no doubt you’ll take great care of it once it’s back in your hands. Thanks for choosing us to execute your build!
Who's 944 is that in the background and is it for sale if it's a turbo? lol I miss mine
It's not for sale, the guy is driving it around as a daily!
@@TheCherryGarage Exactly what I would do with it too! Is it a turbo?
Not a turbo, but he was considering supercharging it at one point
I want more details on the fixes and more about the thought process of what you end up fixing etc.
Nice event
Nice! I would like to see you do this to my brother's car!
I love my Subaru. Glad I got to see this clapper now and looking forward to the video journey and learning all about the improvements you make to it.
Great video. I am doing the same to my 2004 330ci. For some reason, it doesn't have a check valve. Do i need one?
Which valve are you referencing here?
@TheCherryGarage The black and white check valve on the intake manifold. 2 out of the 3 vacuum ports on my intake manifold are capped off, and one was connected to canister for the flaps on the muffler
@@lazarousjam that should be for EVAP canister, if you eliminated the canister it's no problem, you'll end up having a faint smell of gasoline after driving for a bit due to the gasoline in the tank warming up and gassing off. If you keep the canister, it's best to have a check valve.
Awesome man. You guys rock. This channel deserves way more views and subscribers. What did you do with the F-connector vacuum lines.
@lazarousjam thank you! that F-connector is for the brake booster and fuel pressure regulator, we kept that connected as it should be originally.
It needs lotsa work
This is my favorite of all! Great video easy to follow and very engaging ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
3:06 jesus it sounds like a lawn mower lol
😂😂😂
Nice project
That’s a real clapper for sure
Perfect video!! Definitely going to want to do that soon! Thanks!
Thank you, you’re welcome! You got this!
Great video
Thank you!
Turbo power!!
Gotta love boost!
I would like u guys to do that to my car
This is GREAT!!! Really informative...I think I can DO IT
Det er kraftedme' en underlig måde du kører bil på :D
That's a big ass shop! You guys need to get a tig going up in there
What Ive seen people do is cut that fin off the oil pan then drill the hole about an inch higher. But its more prevelant on bottom mount turbos. Hellrotgarage is pretty good knowledge about bottom mount turbos, same with this website as well. turboe46.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html
Good job explaining everything
Yeah, very simple...if you have all those tools at hand.
I have to say it:Wow just wow!!
Awesome video guys, I am totally agree. I am installing the cxracing turbo kit on my 330ci, and I have to modify and add a lot more parts. Question, will my oem MAS work ?
It won't unfortunately
The black plastic backing that was trimmed in the video is broken on my unit. Do you sell that part or do you know where i can buy it?
Unfortunately not, these radios do not have replacement parts from what I can find. There are some for sale on eBay, but I would glue it back together if I were you. Just make sure the metal contacts are exposed in the end.
Always best to warm the engine up so as much as the old oil can come out of the engine
Straight 6 sounds really good in that...
We totally agree, this car sounds great.
