Have this problem rite now . Spark plugs need to be changed with the valve cover gasket.. burnt oil smell/little smoke from time to time. Precision want a bag to fix lol
No do not just use rtv purchase the correct gasket for your vehicle. Use a little rtv where needed a very small amount. And make sure to clean the surface of both the engine and the valve cover itself. When cleaning old gunk off make sure to wipe it out tword you as not to get it into the engine
Usually the plug valley will fill up, even covering part of the spark plug boot. So it's only oil at the threads and below, nothing above the crush washer? If that's the case then unfortunately you have a much bigger problem. :(
@@8Jallin Mine isn't leaking, kind of a light mist of oil on the side of it. That's why I asked. The truck only has 43k but it's an 06 and within time gaskets dry up. I end up buying both covers, seals, New Z1 Electronic Coils as well as 6 new spark plugs.
How much is a usual fix for this? I have this problem and it’s not killing my car as of now but i can smell the oil from time to time when I start my car
@@mopshot20what if i know nothing about cars. Just went to the mecanic yesterday and gave me and stimate to get it done but wanted to charge like 700 being like 20-40 in parts
@@cristiancarrillo2210 UA-cam videos. I know nothing about cars and have been fixing mine recently. I have a shitty journey V6 so I have to take everything apart to fix even the smallest job. I picked up my vehicle cover gaskets today for 110 and will try. Better than paying 1100.
Just getting mine replaced on my 2011 5.0. I had smoke coming from the oil compartment engine backfires and it was burning oil and loss of acceleration getting it back tomorrow they also fixed my vacumme leak so hopefully it goes back to 100%
Would oily spark plugs be one of the symptoms? I was changing the spark plugs on my 2010 chevy colorado with a 5 cylinder in line and the front 2 were dirty with oil stains And the rest were dry.
Man I’ve been searching for the my p0303 code for a month. Changed out the spark plugs, wires and ignition coils. Add an aggressive fuel injection cleaner. Nothing. I noticed a leak of oil from the valve cover where cylinder 5 and 3 are at. hopefully this solves the issue. Truck runs great just pops that code from time to time.
So I have been chasing code after code, so now here we are left with the last 4 codes, bank1&2 lean, Catalyst both banks below threshold, LTFT is sitting at 33 at idle. I have been hunting down what the heck could still be leaking, then I did my spark plugs and saw oil and put two and two together, pcv directly to intake is on valve cover.
@theory816 So I solved it, I was watching bank 2 being rich and not paying any attention to the lean on bank 1. So ripped apart and replaced valve cover gaskets, and pcv valve, egr O ring and intake upper and lower. Car runs mint. Still have a fluctuating idle sitting in drive. But I am going to address the transmission too, filter and fluid.
@theory816 when I blew my timing belt it was negative 5 degrees out, I kind of screwed that one up myself, gasket was smooshed and twisted, and after I was done, I didn't do the pcv valve yet, my first ride smoked out the hood, PCV valve went completely.
If you put the air filter infront of light and you could see the light through the filter it’s still good. If not then it needs to be replaced. I usually change mine every 12k miles. The cabin filter usually you could smell a bad smell when you turn on the ac. Sometimes it’s the cabin filter other times it’s mildew that grows from the water left after using your ac

Does this affect when you start up your car. Sounds like it doesn't want to start then it starts
Either your starter or your timing chain/belt
No it doesn’t
Is it safe to replace the bad gasket with rtv silicone?
No do not just use rtv purchase the correct gasket for your vehicle. Use a little rtv where needed a very small amount. And make sure to clean the surface of both the engine and the valve cover itself. When cleaning old gunk off make sure to wipe it out tword you as not to get it into the engine
Will this cause oil on the spark plugs from the leaking? But only on the threads, the rest of my spark plugs are clean

I think it depends on how long u leave the issue un fixed or something I'm a complete novice also it might be how the valve cover was made
Does tightening down help this. i saw a video where all of the screws were loose on the valve cover.
Replace your shirt bro it’s way cheaper than buying the whole new engine

Do it yourself please
It’s easy to do yourself and costs like 20-40 bucks depending on what you drive
It was like 150 for me

Yes
Switched my alternator twice because oil was getting on it and making it fail any idea why this might happen
Yes from a valve gasket leak
Same thing happened to me....this is why we are here. Done all type of shit on my car but never once have I opened up my engine. Gonna try.

Will it cause your car to shut off when you put it in drive or reverse?
Nope
@@easyautofix any reasons to that problem?
thats an electric issue, check your fuses.
My check engine is like an unhealthy relationship it goes away and comes back
Lol😂😂
I replaced it. Broke spark plug gasket. Now burns oil at 45 mph.
How do you tell if you need to replace engine and cabin filters?
If you put the air filter infront of light and you could see the light through the filter it’s still good. If not then it needs to be replaced. I usually change mine every 12k miles. The cabin filter usually you could smell a bad smell when you turn on the ac. Sometimes it’s the cabin filter other times it’s mildew that grows from the water left after using your ac
If you don't know when the last time you changed it might as well go ahead and change them both.
Look at them if they look dirty then change them
😢
