I am severely disabled, I have stenosis in my lumbar spine and cervical spine, plus I have rotator cuff tears and snapped tendons in my shoulders. I have severe problems cleaning myself after using the toilet. I have tried many of these types of cleaning wands and I find them all too big and clumsy. They may be ok for the less disabled person. My solution is a toothbrush with the longest handle you can find, wrap toilet paper around the bristles then use it to clean yourself. It works great. It is easy to clean and it can be kept in a small jar near the toilet.

I had a multilevel fusion done. I bought a long handle silicone tipped set of tongs. It worked for me . Never easy to deal with some of these issues so thanks. They did not have this on the market after my surgery. I also used a bottle with water that had a lid that you could squirt water where it was needed. Must say that worked and then used the tongs with toilet paper dry my now clean bottom.

It cost about $7 at Walmart vs your $50 Freedom wand.
@Shanney Lynn Phares Just get a bidet for $35.00 at Lowes or Home Depot. It is a 3" soft rubber tube that squirts water to your anus & washes everything away as you sit on the toilet! How easy is that???

I have a back injury and have struggled with this.. I first purchased a wand ( not this one) but one from Walgreens. But it was too large and cumbersome and the pincher broke within no time. So I came up with my own solution. I bought a toothbrush specifically for this purpose. Then I take a long piece of toilet paper and fold it in half two or three times then place the toothbrush half way onto the folded paper then fold the top half back over the toothbrush then fold the sides over eachother and twist everything around the handle till its tightly covered then wipe and then pull off and dispose. I keep a toothbrush in my purse in a baggy as well for times I am out in public restrooms. Very discreet😊
You know why? Because this contraption is useless. The TP falls out, and you can only use little bits of paper at a time. Dont waste your money on this. I realize its an old video, and there may be better tools out now in 2024. I've bought this and many other variations of it. Nope. Does not do the trick.
Cracks me up that they’re both using both hands clicking it together, folding the tp. It’s crazy! I’ll by the wand because it may work but it’s trial and error and they NEVER showed how to use it! Next time try doing it with your non dominant hand by itself!
I tried several different similar devices after my spinal surgery--all highly recommended--and I couldn't use any of them successfully. I just couldn't work out a proper angle, from the front or the back. I agree, some sort of demonstration, even fully clothed, might be useful.
I find that wrapping the wand with TP, once you’ve knotted and placed it in the gripper, helps keep the wand from getting soiled. They’re are demonstrating how to attach the paper based on a video from the designer. But, I’ve found wrapping the wand and tucking the end into the hole on the wand, works best. Be sure to wrap the TP over the gripper so you don’t soil that part, as well. This is a great tool when you’re not at home, but getting a bidet seat is much better.
The so-called Freedom Wand is far too large. I have spinal stenosis and both my shoulders have limited movement and there is no way I can use one. I have tried. It is easier to wrap toilet paper around an old toothbrush. It gets in easier and it is easy to change the paper. The same goes for raised toilet seats, they are designed by non-disabled people who seem to have no idea what a disabled person requires.

It can be easily transported, as it breaks down. 4. The end seems narrow enough to get the job done properly. 5. This one has the hand strap, which others don’t. For some, the strap may be quite helpful. The only thing this video didn’t show was how to use it. But, other diagrams and videos show that, so it’s not completely necessary. I think the features mentioned above, may justify the higher cost.

Why not just use a plastic bottle filled with water that has a nozzle on top? After I had my children, I was given this plastic type bottle because I had stitches after childbirth.
The switch at which you grab & release with is to high up on the wand in my opinion. I don't want to take the entire wand out before I release it to get rid of the rag!
They should've got some more fb from actual disadvantaged asswipes and made a better engineered products, maybe there's different styles if you look online I bet but I can also see a huge market for this soon with so many needy ppl and such little help available or those who want to keep independent , I mean what's the options other than Depends. Even then you need a fresh wipe
They said they had another link for another video, but I don't see it under show more nor on their playlists. There isn't a playlist for toilet issues.
Pretty neat but still requires a significant amount of gymnastics for someone with a back injury and limited ability to bend and reach. I think a toilet seat bidet attachment would be easier, and in some cases cheaper, and everybody in the house could use it. 😉
I have to admit. I had both hands operated on at one time. When my surgeon asked me if I was sure, I said yes- knock 2 birds out with one stone. Needless to say, I never thought about wiping my ass. Anyways, I put my towels on the side of my tub and straddled the tub and wiped away. Lmao! I can't believe i did this but a person has to do what they gotta do to survive. Yes, I tossed them in the garbage and never looked back.
this may work for public toilets, but at home, install a butt washer either built into the seat or on a hand unit that can easily clean without having to touch your butt. Much more sanitary and very common in Asia.
I can see Bob isn’t used to doing the washing up. Just put the appliance straight in the sink and if possible straight into disinfected water. No need to contaminate the draining board.
For men, stuck with one of those smaller round toilet seats instead of the oblong style better suited for men, these rods are hard to use. Bidets don't necessarily clean you enough. And I've used a Japanese toilet with all the extras...the warm stream, etc. You still need paper. Then the warm stream. Low back disc problems can cause sheer agony if they move when wiping. You might not be able to stand up. Like me today. On that damn small round seat...
That made me literally laugh out loud. Too funny. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title of this video. I have been looking at back surgery videos.
I don't know about putting the wand on the counter after using it in a public restroom. Other people use that counter. I like the grippy part, but couldn't tell if you had to keep the button in a certain position. This wouldn't work with spastic hands.
You have no idea why someone might have to use a device like that! I have a rare autoimmune disorder and have carpal tunnel because of it and lost my mobility have some humility!
@@thelieinaprilchabersbanda118 What an ass hat. Guess you never heard of someone of normal weight who had to have hip replacement. Let your hips totally go and let's see how well you wipe your ass
Are the gripper parts hard plastic or what. Don’t think very safe to use if you must wipe with much pressure. Especially someone with hemorrhoids. And much more paper needed to get clean. If it only holds tiny amount at a time it would be an hr getting wiped, refilling over and over.
I just had total shoulder replacement three days ago. Off topic a bit, I've been hearing air leak I'm assuming coming from the surgical sight...not 100% sure maybe it's all in my head. There is no pain, infact I've noticed so much of the stiffness has gone away. My shoulder still feels weak. I'm hoping things are healing correctly.
When you guys were talking about difficulties of wiping, I was looking at the skeleton, thinking, “If they could just cut his arm off at the elbow and design a way for the fingers to make an operable fist.” 🤣
Brilliant guys! I am looking for ways to handle this situation for after shoulder surgery and you show using two hands to apply the TP! Ain't going to help!
That tiny bit of paper isn’t even large enough to wipe. And I’ve gone from four pieces, six pieces and eight pieces. They all fall out. I’m using it the way I should. I’m having hip replacement next week and I’m distressed.
This thing is crap (pardon the pun) After two weeks of fighting these types of devices (my poor wife!) we put a bidet seat in. Problem solved. Also portable bidets (turkey baster types) work too if you aren’t going to be home or have to work. I’m 11 weeks post op and found very little in the way of useful information prior to and after my surgery. I’m an amateur filmmaker and will be putting out a video shortly to cover the nuances of this very major procedure that I hope will be helpful. I know it would have been for me.
How durable is this tool? I'm a big and short person, 260 lbs & 5'4", and I'm having an issue wiping in a public restroom or an airplane bathroom; thus, I think I will soon need something like this, for I will be taking a trip to Spain from NC, and I don't think I'll be able to unless I have this tool or a similar one. I appreciate anyone helps here. Thank you for your videos. 🤔 P.S. I couldn't find the tool shown in this video in amazon!!!
I am curious if this would work with my father that has Neuopathy in his hands its kind of hard for him to open an close hands, an wonder if he would have the strength to pinch the toilet paper to place into the feeder.
I'm looking for something like this and for the most part, it looks like it would be very helpful but in my case, I need something with much more of a curve. Presently I use a cane. I just wrap the toilet paper around the end and then use twist ties to keep it in place. It works but I have to believe that there is a product out that would be more user friendly.
brians48now A bidet is best but expensive so you can buy squirt bottles like for mustard/ketchup from a dollar store. Fill with warm water. Squirt water on you privates towards inside toilet bowl. Drs give peri-care bottles like that for women after childbirth. Dry with a towel after. Less expensive than this wand.

I hate not being able to wipe myself, but sadly it happens and you gotta do what you gotta do and ask for help sometimes. I had two discectomies in January and February 2017 L4L5 level, herniated once then reherniated severely about 3 weeks later and needed a 2nd discectomy. Was doing well up until September 2017 when I reherniated again. Went to get a fusion at L4L5 level on the 20th of December and during surgery my surgeon found my S1 vertebrae was loose and moving around. I had what they call spondylosis (I had two cracks in my S1). Anyway he fused L4-S1 and I'm currently almost 2 months out and I feel so amazing that it still is blowing my mind. My body hasn't felt this great since 2016 before I first hurt my back. But to get back to the point, after my fusion my lower back was in so much pain for the first 2 weeks I could barely even get close enough to wipe myself and had to have help, as I'm assuming most post operative patients need help. So it's nice seeing this tool to help, but if your someone who needs help wiping, don't be afraid to ask! It is embarrassing, but were all human and if someone loves you enough they'll help you out lol. Just wanted to share my story on this issue and why I couldn't wipe for a period of time. So if you are someone who needs a fusion you'll need a lot of help for a bit, but you'll get over the hump and be on the road to recovery! Not saying a fusion helps everyone and their sciatica, but it sure helped mine! I was so reluctant to get fused, but glad I did cause they found an underlying issue and fixed it with a second fusion and now my body feels so stable and is completely pain free!
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I'm scheduled to have fusion surgery at the same levels. Ibwoukd love to speak with you further about the process.

I cannot tell you how much you helped me with your comment. I'm scheduled for a fusion in January and I've been getting so very nervous. Reading about your recovery was very reassuring.
I can’t see this working all that well. device you still have a lot of twisting but you need to be able to get significant paper or better wet toilet disposable wipes and the claw situation just doesn’t seem that workable. I’m right now having this issue with my back and it is hell to reach the back...cry in pain he’ll. But when you live by yourself and are in 60s ..you aren’t ready to have to call someone,to help nor go in a rehab every time your back goes out. It is just awful. But I don’t see this working well. I have an idea that I think will work well , is more sanitary than this and I think will be easier. I just need my back to improve enough to make up mock up. Also..who is going to take this to a sink in a public bathroom in front of people to clean. To mention if it gets fecal matter..you don’t want that in a hands sink. Why is it that guys don’t think these things through. They should have actually used it to clean themselves a few times (private) and maybe had several patients try and give opinion before bringing out to show.
All of us can adjust as needed and wipe from the front. Would you rather have people yell for someone to wipe them or walk around with poop in their pants because they can't wipe?

WOW, so great you brought this up, my husband has a bad back and never thought he had a problem he, of course, nevered mentioned.. On another note there is a badee, would that be helpful?
Glad it was helpful!
it is also very important for every one who works out like crazy, once you have so much muscle accommodated you cant reach back there you are disabled.
Aren't there any exercises to increase flexibility and range if you can't reach your derriere, instead of using an aid.
Wow thank you for this information. I am about to have hip surgery and I had not thought about this but I'm so glad to have this information. Thank you
Why not just use a plastic bottle filled with water that has a nozzle on top? After I had my children, I was given this plastic type bottle because I had stitches after childbirth.
how do u get the bottle down there in the right area?
peri-bottle
The switch at which you grab & release with is to high up on the wand in my opinion. I don't want to take the entire wand out before I release it to get rid of the rag!
I really don't think they intended for you to put the whole wand up your ass, but then that might just be a horse of a different color.
They should've got some more fb from actual disadvantaged asswipes and made a better engineered products, maybe there's different styles if you look online I bet but I can also see a huge market for this soon with so many needy ppl and such little help available or those who want to keep independent , I mean what's the options other than Depends. Even then you need a fresh wipe
what about a bidet?
Lol I was expecting exercises for helping range and reach...I was very confused.
how does one reach with the stick though? Egyptian toilets are good, the ones which have a water pipe to wash the bottom with.
How are you supposed to do the folding and wrapping with one arm?
They said they had another link for another video, but I don't see it under show more nor on their playlists. There isn't a playlist for toilet issues.
I use the three seashell method.
I use a bidet. I got a feeling my way is better.
Demolition Man . Nice . After needing something like this after multiple shoulder surgeries, I have thought about the sea shells so many times. 👍😁
Pretty neat but still requires a significant amount of gymnastics for someone with a back injury and limited ability to bend and reach. I think a toilet seat bidet attachment would be easier, and in some cases cheaper, and everybody in the house could use it. 😉
kitteesPJs where can you get a bidet attachment for your toilet seat? I've never seen them at Home Depot etc is there on online link?
HRTsAFyre I thought Home Depot or Lowes had them. Amazon has the best selection though.
A bidet that has a dryer works wonders. Saves on toilet paper too!
this may work for public toilets, but at home, install a butt washer either built into the seat or on a hand unit that can easily clean without having to touch your butt. Much more sanitary and very common in Asia.
Talk about the Bidet attachment for the toilet itself! Water is very helpful before wiping!
I know many people with disabilities and this would be a god send for them. Thanks for posting this
I'm in that weird part of UA-cam again.
That made me literally laugh out loud. Too funny. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title of this video. I have been looking at back surgery videos.
SC29403 carpal tunnel videos sent me here.
Wait till your in the position of needing one...
This was invented a Billion years ago by a T-Rex :)
Max Power
No ,this is good guys with good advice 🤗🤗🤗🤗
OT here :) Always love watching your channel! You guys are great!
Do you guys really recommend this product above the others that are on the market?
The struggle is real!!
Not if you use a bidet!!!!
I've had a frozen shoulder on both sides. That was fun!
🤣
I don't know about putting the wand on the counter after using it in a public restroom. Other people use that counter.
I like the grippy part, but couldn't tell if you had to keep the button in a certain position. This wouldn't work with spastic hands.
Is there a stretching exercise that will give you more flexibility to help your reach back there and clean yourself. Not a tool.
Lmao. I can just imagine trying to clean this thing in a public bathroom sink when there’s a lot of people in line
I found out I have a cyst in my spinal cord and I'll someday lose the use of both hands someday. So I want to find out how to wipe with no hands. 😢
Bidet
Nope. That one doesn’t work. Bought it and tried it.
I bought one similar. Hah! Would have been better off using corn cobs.
Nah bruh you would of been better off loosing weight fat ass
You have no idea why someone might have to use a device like that! I have a rare autoimmune disorder and have carpal tunnel because of it and lost my mobility have some humility!
@@thelieinaprilchabersbanda118 What an ass hat. Guess you never heard of someone of normal weight who had to have hip replacement. Let your hips totally go and let's see how well you wipe your ass
Lucky for me I can reach. That little bit of tissue would not work. In fact I use a damp washcloth. Because my bowel movements are a bit messy.
If I was a kid I would hate to get a whooping with that lol
I stopped wiping altogether. Just change my shorts every couple weeks and it's all good.
Same here sir no point in wiping
@@howdyfucker443 HaHaha... ;-)
Are the gripper parts hard plastic or what. Don’t think very safe to use if you must wipe with much pressure. Especially someone with hemorrhoids. And much more paper needed to get clean. If it only holds tiny amount at a time it would be an hr getting wiped, refilling over and over.
I need this for my patients
I just had total shoulder replacement three days ago.
Off topic a bit, I've been hearing air leak I'm assuming coming from the surgical sight...not 100% sure maybe it's all in my head.
There is no pain, infact I've noticed so much of the stiffness has gone away.
My shoulder still feels weak.
I'm hoping things are healing correctly.
When you guys were talking about difficulties of wiping, I was looking at the skeleton, thinking, “If they could just cut his arm off at the elbow and design a way for the fingers to make an operable fist.” 🤣
thanks i needed the laugh
Some people need this info. Very hard to hear.
Brilliant guys! I am looking for ways to handle this situation for after shoulder surgery and you show using two hands to apply the TP! Ain't going to help!
They showed how to do it one-handed, too.
Recovering from shoulder replacement, esp reverse total shoulder.
I got a loved one diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome paralysis and can't turn to wipe the ass
Did not find this product on your Amazon page....
I seriously didn't knew there was something like this
No one is going to wash that in a public restroom!
Thanks for advertising from vertigo keeps bothering me my hand seems short so how can I get one to buy
QVC. Demonstrate it. Inquiring minds want to see it in action. Would sell like hot cakes for Christmas.
Not funny for those who need it!
Thanks for this very informative and tasteful video Bob and Brad!
Alternatively, get a bidet toliet seat.
Enjoy your videos.. however, did you forget your wireless micophone ?
That tiny bit of paper isn’t even large enough to wipe. And I’ve gone from four pieces, six pieces and eight pieces. They all fall out. I’m using it the way I should. I’m having hip replacement next week and I’m distressed.
I thought you were going to teach us a stretch to do to help.
Where do you get
@@DebbyLong777 Anywhere now. They’re very popular. Just got Amazon and search Bidet.
P.S. I couldn't find the tool shown in this video in amazon!!!
I am curious if this would work with my father that has Neuopathy in his hands its kind of hard for him to open an close hands, an wonder if he would have the strength to pinch the toilet paper to place into the feeder.
if he cannot.... would he get money back or how would that work?
Dude that glasses trick was sick I was not expecting that
I'm in a boot with a fracture and am dreading my first poo as I can't bear weight on it but have a low toilet 😅
"I WOULDN'T USE IT FOR SHAVING." LOVE IT, THANKS !
@@thatgirlfromdabronx9198 Reading comments because I'm having carpal tunnel surgery on my dominant hand and wiping with the other won't do (short arms). Saw your post about this peri-care bottle. This is what I need. I know you posted this 3 yrs ago, but if you see it, thank you! :)
Get a Bidet! They are 20 bucks on amazon, work very well, less cleanup and more sanitary. I can’t believe this is even a product.
That's great if you are at home. But when you're not, something like this may be needed.
How do you attach it to the toilet and get it to spray water? Does it require a plumber?
nice aid it is helpful for ADLs

I'm having issues after a back injury( middle too. lumbar area stiff). What exercise can I do to improve mobility
How does it work?

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I'm scheduled to have the fusion surgery in a few weeks and hearing your success is encouraging. I would love to speak with you further by email about what to expect from someone whosengone through the process.
Thanks again...Cee-
I cannot tell you how much you helped me with your comment. I'm scheduled for a fusion in January and I've been getting so very nervous. Reading about your recovery was very reassuring.
where can i buy this?
@@TheGoddessHope Nope. Can't reach it that way.
My answer..a back scrubber brush in the shower. Just remove the screen in the drain. Plenty of soap....east reach. Lively.
If you only have one for instance use youe good hand and use baby wipes!
No! Use a bidet!!!
