The respect that comes from Nilan deserves respect all on its own. You can tell he loves listening to Larry talk as much as we do. The admiration is evident. Very genuine, grounded ...

Just heard about it from Tom Laidlaw's podcast! I'm a huge Nilan fan. The poor guy impacted the Rangers so much when he arrived and we almost made the playoffs. I write poor guy because Chris was always injured in NY. It was tragic!

I went early to a preseason game in Providence R I ,Bruins and Habs and noticed Larry Robinson sitting high up in the stands. He wasn't playing that night so I walked up there very nervously to say hello . He invited me to sit down and he talked to me solo for about a half hour . He is one of the nicest athletes that I have ever met. Great gentleman and player.

Grew up a Bruins fan, hated the Canadiens, but top the hat to Larry. The most underrated D-man in history. Nucks is correct, +722 +/- will never even come close to being beaten. And top of all that, a Class act.

Also born in 72 and #19 was always and always will be the definition of the perfect d man for me. I was so disappointed when Savard wouldn't pony up and pay Larry what he wanted and deserved and he signed in LA. The Habs have had a history of parting on bad terms with their stars and hopefully that changes with the current management.

Big Bird! I remember vividly Larry Robinson's first game with the Habs on tv. I also remember Danny Gallagan's classic tv anouncer calls. Robinson passes to Lafleur who passes to Shutt, he shoots, they score!

Larry Robinson, mentioned that Bobby Smith !
Gave a few words about winning the Stanley Cup
When he played for the Minnesota North Stars 🌟
The only Stanley Cup Bobby Smith won was with the
Montreal Canadiens in 1986 playing such a big
    Part in that Cup victory.

When I was a teenager playing hockey I always wanted to wear #19 and play defense. Because I grew up in NY everyone would think #19 was because of Bryan Trottier or Jean Ratelle, but I always made sure they knew it was Larry Robinson. He was my favorite player of all time. By coincidence, my favorite baseball player was Brooks Robinson. One was Canadian and the other was from Arkansas so I'm presuming they weren't related.

One of the highlights of my life was sitting with Larry in the Tampa airport for about 20 minutes. I was coming home from a Lightning game, having sat two chairs from Scotty Bowman in the press box the night before. Talk about a dream weekend! I approached Larry to tell him he was one of my heroes. He asked me if I had time to sit and chat . . . he's only a couple of years older than me, but I was like a little kid! We talked about the Canadiens dynasty in the 70s, his HOF induction, jersey retirement and coaching in NJ. He was so nice, so generous, just a class act!

My mom lived on a dairy farm just down the road from Larry. William McGarrs Farm where she was adopted and raised. She pointed you out in junior Larry. You became my favourite player very quickly! The farm was where they re-named the line road in your honour. Ross and Gladys Wadell were on the other side. Every time I drive through 'Kenmore' I go up and look at the Road sign with YOUR name on it! I'll never forget that game where Hunter ran our goalie and you had enough! You fought Hunter(when he finally dropped his stick!); he wanted no part of you! AND you fought crazy mental 'Wolf' Paiement and gave him a few good shots! My brother and I had great seats. Never started them; but always finished them! The boys were glad you were on the ice when IT started Larry! Have the poster you autographed for my Mom Verna Bradshaw in my Office here in Ottawa. Thanks for all the thrills Larry 10 SC Rings! You look great! Knuckles you were nuts! Loved you too! Those Battle of Quebec games! - Ron Larocque.(PS- Your Dad Les would probably remember mom)

My first exposure to NHL hockey was the L.A. Kings 74-75 season, where I fell in love with hockey. It was also the Kings best point total season in franchise history, 105 points, with no superstars. But it was a superbly well coached team under Bob Pulford. Larry played for the Kings years later, but I watched Larry's rookie year with Montreal and the great names. Wow, he was great. Wonder what Larry thought of guys like Dave Taylor, Butch Goring, Tommy Williams, Bob Murdoch?

My friend was invited to a Montreal Canadiens young prospect try out as a goaltender. And was fitted with a pair of used Ken Dryden pads. They said he would never fit in them because he wasn't going to grow that tall. He ended up getting Wayne Thomas's pads made of leather by Keneski. And,still has them today. But,missed out on Ken's pads. One day I hope to have a chance to meet Larry.I'd like if Larry would become a defence coach here in the Ottawa Senators.

What an awesome resource this podcast is to hear from legendary players just being themselves. I echo the sentiment this channel should have more subs if you are a Hockey fan it is a no brainer.

I saw one game at the old Garden as a kid in the late 70s. It was the Bruins against the Canadiens. I don't remember seeing Chris but Larry looked huge on that small ice surface.
