    My pee-wee hockey team travelled to Boston from Eastern Canada in 1989 or 90 and we got to watch the Bruins practice. After their practice, LB saw me standing there watching intently. He skated over to me, asked me if I was a right shot, and proceeded to hand me over his stick. I'll never forget it and LB will always have a special place in my heart for that gesture. I'm a Habs fan.

    I remember one game when the Bruins played the Nordiques. LB had a fight with a player named Smyth (I think he was a defenseman). After their fight, they’re both in the penalty box, and an argument ensued. After a little of back and forth, they both stepped out of the box and continued their fight. Never saw that before or since. LB was a HUGE fan favorite in Boston, and was part of teams, unlike the B’s of today, that had balls.

    Anybody who watched Byers in the 80s with Boston knows he was one of the finest hockey fighters in Bruins history. O'Reilly was probably the greatest enforcer (not the greatest fighter), Miller was probably the best technical fighter, and Byers was right there with 70s greats Wensink and Jonathan.

    Mike Milbury screwed over a lot of people. He helped neuter Neely and the Bruins (among An other team s) as a whole in the early 90's, he told Neely not to fight anymore, but teams kept trying him and nobody stood in for him so they were pushed around. No Team cohesion with Milbury it was ALL about HIM and His elitist University mindset, which did nothing but draw attention to himself, which it seems was his favorite end result. He pulled that B.S... I'll sit you out until I need you to fight for me, against Pittsburgh in the 91? 92? Conference finals. He finally brought L.B. and a few other guys back in Pittsburgh after he he had no other cards to play against them. L.B. was only playing for his Buddy's and Neely. Hate Milbury.

Gillies was done when he played for the Sabres but he still held his own against Byers who in my opinion is among the most underrated fighters ever. They had 2 fights and I saw them as one draw and one win for Byers. i would have like seeing him as an Islander in the early 90's. One tough player.

    • @jason-hy8ci
      @jason-hy8ci 7 місяців тому +2

      @atilla429 He was injured A LOT. And your list.... Miller was always beating up Brown, he fought Twist a few times with Quebec, and Probert and Kocur were in the other conference so that means he would have only played against them 2 to 3×'s a year. Between L.B. being hurt or down on the farm for conditioning and Probert's off ice "Lifestyle" and Kocur being in jail for punching his Boston girlfriend out(I know that happened at least once, I went to that game) they hardly ever played against each other. Hey, go look how many times they were in the same game it should be easy. Byers was with the Bruins organization for 10yrs. But he wasn't in the lineup that often for one reason or another.
