I’m a bit disappointed in myself for paying more attention during this lecture then any of my actual university lectures in the last 3 years of my degree
Thank you for not being patronizing, genuinely. As a life-long pokemon fan, I've always avoided competitive due to the sheer amount of judgement or insults thrown at people (even children) who are just trying to learn.
This video reminded me how much I've taken Pokemon's complexity for granted. I've been playing since Red and Blue and so many of these features have been added gradually with each generation that it never felt overwhelming, but I can't imagine coming into this as a new player now
I started playing in 2013 and everything since mega evolutions is greek to me. As far as my brain can tell all the different kinds of maxes are just slightly different mega evos and mythicals and primals and whatnot are all slightly different legendaries. All the kids coming into pokemon nowadays and keeping all this stuff in their head are so smart and I'm so proud of them
Hey guys. Hope you all enjoyed this! It's amazing to see everyone be so keen on this and I'm really excited to see how the competitive scene grows from here! Wolfe and I will do our best to make sure that these episodes continue to go up in timely fashion. This is just the beginning!

Man, thank you for these videos. I'm a relatively new player to Pokemon, didn't start til Black and White. I play the core games as well as Pokemon Go, but something that's always scared me is the competitive play. I just have no idea how to figure out all the moves, types, abilities, etc. This is a huge help and hopefully it will open up the games for me a bit!
After attending Worlds this past weekend, I'm super interested in getting into competitive, thank you so much for the video!! I've loved Pokemon for about 16 years but I've never dabbled into it, I appreciate the explanations!!
Been playing competitive pokemon since gen 4 and I'm am beyond happy to see VGC getting bigger. Definitely my favorite to play and this was a great lecture for both beginners and a refresher for experts.
i was super big into competitve pokemon back in gen 6 and a little bit of gen 7, but i kind of fell out of it. ive really been wanting to get back into it and this will really help. thank you so much for doing this!

As far as I’m aware, all of the topics he touches on here are still the same in S+V. Pokemon doesn’t change all that much between generations, usually. If anything did change, it would be specific things, such as Zacian’s ability being once per battle as opposed to on switch in like it used to be

I’m a competitive person, I’ve just turned 20 and having played Pokemon since I was a child, I’ve only just heard about VGC a couple of days ago. Good luck to all the noobs out there! For example, how to find tournaments that distribute CP, what CP is, the entry fee, etc I'd really like to participate but have very little idea as to how and what tournaments even give me cp and I'm sure there's many more like me
