More alpha is always good.
Best collaboration ever
Hell yeah.

I wanna see you play Smash!
thank u mr fish
Alpharad very cool
Fish; the way home
Everyone who's a fan of both of you guys are 1) so hyped right now, and 2) spamming Wolfe with bullshit ; jokes from Plus
Alpharad you gotta try the most gimmicky teams man, the gimps in Competitive Pokémon are so real.
mr fish needs some eyebrows
Hearing the Internet funny man take such genuine interest in the lesson he’s being taught and politely and excitedly asking questions is so wholesome to watch

That would be pretty cool. Hopefully a funny man comes in as a guest one day.

Do more of this! I feel like Alpharad's level was closer to a majority of people who will be coming into VGC so hearing you teach him and really flesh out your thought process was great!
10/10 would subscribe again if I could
Thank you!
I completely agree with this. Do more of these videos!

@@scotthoran6809 seeing those first person webswing vids is amazing
the way you are explaining pokemon is amazing, I already understand most of this but it still feels like im learning everything for the first time
dsorpqxh I love this game strictly because of the competitive scene. Been doing competitive since HGSS and haven’t gotten burnt out
Same, and I’ve even watched Wolfe before, but him sitting down and explaining everything to Alpha has taught me more than years of self learning has
Luka Dark yeah it’s crazy how having him explain each turn word for word can be so helpful
AAAnt M just me and my friends for HGSS
Im glad you’re finding it helpful!
26:53 I love how Alpharad says he's "holding forward", which is a Smash Bros. term for playing aggressively
I always considered it a term for playing brainlessly. Like playing a platformer and just holding forward.
or a term for platformer level design where you can literally hold forward to win
Rip when alpharad has like an hour's worth of content out today too
;)
I'd love to see more videos like this! It's fun kind of "playing along" and trying to come up with the best play, I feel like I learned a lot
Holy cow! CROFTS! Wolfey you are a legend.
Wolf...Do you know who this is???
My boy Crofts! Honestly I would love to see you get into the field of competitive Pokémon, I hope you're enjoying looking at it.
yeah i think this is a great idea and after watching the video, i feel like i already have a better understanding of competitive play
Wtf why is the krillin yamcha guy here
Thank you!

This was such a great video. Personally I feel like I'm in the camp with a lot to learn and you seem competent as an instructor. You're clearly just overflowing with knowledge, but you also understand the order in which things need to be explained and don't get ahead of yourself. High hopes for the academy!
Thank you!
This.
Wolfey is great at teaching. I honestly think he'd do well as a teacher if he set up say a Competitive Pokémon Workshop of sorts. Could be a great way of helping people learn. Having that kind of space is great because it's easier to learn when you can ask questions in person and get that more immediate response, and it's easier to demonstrate, which I feel goes a long way towards making it less daunting. Don't think I've seen a competitive Pokémon workshop, but it's an idea.
This was fantastic. As a mid-low level player, this was really helpful. As a viewer, it was very entertaining seeing you two together

WolfeyVGC I can tell! I can hear Alpharad’s genuine happiness and eagerness to learn when you were teaching him. Watching the both of you makes me want to get into competitive Pokemon

It’s so fun to see a different Alpharad. Not to say I don’t love normal ironic quick paced Alpharad, I’m still neck deep in irony cause of him and love it. But also seeing him somewhat take something serious is such a nice view. He said he doesn’t think his subs will like this type of content, but I definitely would and would definitely watch it.

I love watching this. It was honestly so much fun just watching Jacob enjoy it and get it, and the satisfaction you heard in his voice when he won that 2nd game.
This was actually super fascinating to listen to. I've tried getting into comp Pokemon before but couldn't really understand how to think when team building and this really helped.
At 44:02 I love alpha's supreme confidence to get that 1 in 3 double protect
I absolutely love how he’s explaining these things so passionately, and I’m so much more invested because of it. Would love to see you and Alpha do it with smash 😂
I was honestly curious about this. I learned about this channel from him and I love it. So it’s great!
Thank you!
I did come here from Alpharad's video so I'm glad to see a colab. Even though I have no interest in actually playing competitive Pokémon, watching Wolfey is really fun, even if I don't understand competitive Pokémon
Welcome!

Not only was this video super helpful for someone getting into competitive Pokémon but you also made this very entertaining at the same time, good video!
ThNk you!
Your channel is growing so fast! Love to see the growth and the huge amount of attention VGC is getting. Make the most of it! Really hope gmax isnt a thing in the format this year, though i think its going to be an amazing year either way.
Literal best video ever. I was new to the competition after getting shield day 1. Thanks Wolfey
OMG THIS IS THE VIDEO I NEEDED THE MOST AND DIDN'T KNOW!!! THANKS WOLFEY AND ALPHARAD XD
I think a way to improve your videos, especially the more “instructional” ones is to have a visual on screen when you’re explaining something complicated. Like when you were explaining the +1 +2 and how tailwind factors in, it can get a little confusing. For example when AustinJohnPlays explains something, even though it’s pretty simple, he always breaks it down into visuals (charts, lists etc).
Anyway, been a long time watcher and I’m glad to see you growing your channel!! 🧡
Came from Alpha's channel and this is the first time I've ever seen or heard of Wolfey. I absolutely love how much joy he visibly has while teaching Alpha. Wolfey's enthusiasm and excitement to teach someone else about something he loves is so awesome.
This is so good, please do more of these. Alpha asked all the questions I had and this is perfect for someone just starting out.
Loved it.

Seriously though love both your channel and Alpharads and this is a video I wanted but didnt expect to get. Thanks guys :D
Officially going to get started to learn VGC. Should be a lot of fun. Ive been focusing on 6v6s, time to learn a new format.

gotta love how my one of my two favorite youtubers is teaching the other favorite youtuber something that i take passion in myself and both are having a blast doing so

Exactly
I've been watching almost nothing but this channel all day ever since Alpha recommended it, so it's really cool seeing the colab.
And this was a really interesting video and had a lot of tips I'll use when explaining the game to other people. Like using fractions to describe stat changes is pretty intuitive so I'll definitely use that to describe how it works in the future.
And I think a lot of the stuff on this channel is making me want to get back into playing this game competitively. Now I just have to figure out what to run, since my old team was based around Zoroark and Mega Gardevoir.
Thank you!
Wolfey... THIS is the content I always wanted but never found. There’s a lot of “guides to competitive” out there, some from you, but this one speaks directly to me: a seasoned Pokémon player but that never played competitive because I feel overwhelmed sometimes. Thanks for that and more, please!
Definitely do more of this content. I am looking to get into VGC this year, and while I have a solid competitive background in singles it definitely helps to see someone who excels in the format explain their thought process and approach. I wasn't previously subscribed but this video definitely convinced me to stick around to use the channel as a learning tool.
Can’t believe I actually watched the whole video, this was so entertaining
OH MY GOD I KNEW THAT THIS WAS COMING SINCE HIS BATTLE TOWER VIDEO
;)
I had watched Alpharad for many years before, but this was my first Wolfey video. I find myself coming back to this video a lot since Sword and Shield got me back into Pokemon and Wolfey taught me so much about competitive play. I just love people who love what they do, and hearing Wolfey talk about Pokemon is always a joy! You are always fun to watch! Thank you for all the Pokemon content over the years!
this really threw me back to the collab you did with Shady a really long time ago. super enjoyable! i'd love to see Alpharad back in future vids

I really enjoyed watching this and I think you were to explain everything as clearly as possible, great teacher.
Looking forward to see more!
Wolfey my man this is great content! I’m wanting to get into Pokemon competitive, and I’m understanding everything you’re saying, and it helps to watch your battles as well. Thankyou, congrats on 100K and keep up the good work!

Just wanted to say: this video is amazing!!! Exactly the kind of videos that I - as a "typical just story" player need to learn how to play competitively. This was just the right amount of explanations. Continue this series please!

Really interesting stuff. Wanted to try Pokémon competitively myself and now I got a small grasp on what's important. Will watch more of your content now because you explained it really well. Hope to see more from you and alpha

Love this idea can't wait for the rest of the series
Love both of your channels (I've been watching Alpha since the launch of Smash Ultimate and you since Sword and Shield pre-launch). Would definitely love more collabs
Thank you!
As someone who has never done VGC and new to that this is very well put together and informative video. I get why I always see these Pokémon are sought after and used a lot still.
Loved this video, nice as it is watching you talk through all the higher level stuff, for someone like me who's just getting into competitive find these videos more useful to progress myself watching you explain thought processes to a newer player
Thanks for watching!
dude your subs gain is nuts! Excited for this 100k, dont stop there keep up the content!
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and it's absolutely fantastic! So glad I found you through Alpharad! And as someone (like Alpha) who's played Pokemon for a long time but is just starting to step into the competitive scene, I'm really grateful for how well you explain the entire process from team comp to abilities to move choice. Subscribed and looking forward to more videos!
Just found this vid now and then noticed it was from 4yrs ago :/ (would've realized from the Pkmn gen anyways I guess)... but still really cool to see, I hadn't known the numerator/denominator stuff for stat modifiers, plus it's awesome that in 4yrs since this vid you've gained ~1mil subs based on you saying you were trying to get to 100k at the time of upload! Now you're at 1.1mil and I'm a new 1 of them!
I'd say I have an above average understanding of Competitive Pokemon as a whole, but this video really polished off some key things I never considered to be that big of a deal.
This was a great experience, looking forward to your 100k vid next man!
Super glad alpharad recommended me to your channel! It’s super helpful for getting started to competitive Pokémon
Cool Video! It seems like Alpharad had a pretty solid understanding of a lot of things already!
