When doing these fittings and similar ones make sure that no stray wire strands find their way into the threads.
If they do you can pretty much say goodbye to the fitting.
If you do enough of them it is worthwhile investing in the proper tools to make it easier to assemble them.
There’s a tool for spreading the sheaf and inserting the olive.
I'm a bit worried about the amount of heat from the headers right next to the steering column man... Probably not an issue at first but heat cycling over time is concerning. At a minimum I would recommend some ceramic coating man. One of my favorite builds on UA-cam!

Which oddly enough I could have swore I saw a McLaren MP4 F1 car on the tv screen at some point during the video.
Why is it an issue if i may ask? I have a similair situation in my 78 malibu. (2 1/4" header tubes running around my steering shaft because of space issues) But i figured there was nothing to worry about. Anything i have to be worried about though?

@@ikke1785 repeated heat cycles can fatigue metal much like repeated bending can. furthermore, if it gets *really hot* any sort of heat treatment the steering shaft had, would be lost.

Crazy to think of the early videos of “hey, I’m gonna make a Hummer do a wheelie in Forza, followed by “hey, I’m gonna bolt an air cleaner onto my Miata”… and now this. Pretty soon you’re going to have a booth at SEMA and people will commission you for builds.
Double check the links on the steering shaft. I'm 99% sure those extra long "setscrews" are actually supposed to be drilled through the shaft and go all the way through. It would be a real shame for them to loosen over time and cause an issue.

I think a good idea for a perfect 50/50 weight ratio is making some bolt on brackets for some aluminum boxes filled with something heavy like lead or sand
Why? Adding weight is worse than just dealing with the balance
@roachwerks3043 not really adding weight will lose only a little bit of transition speed. But it'll be easier with a 50/50 weight ratio

In my opion i would chnage the oil to a 5w40 or even better 10w60 the oil can handle more heat and in drifting is it the best
If i was you i would make extra of them ptfe hoses they tend to explode at the fittings. Just in case❤
For resonance purposes, isn't the x pipe supposed to be as close to the headers as possible?

I find ptfe to be the easiest hoses to make, they also last the longest! Every hose except my radiator hoses on my car ptfe braid
Do you think you'll have issues locking up the rears with the big calipers? I saw Donut Media run into an issue and switch to a single-piston caliper. Just food for thought.

please heat wrap at the very least the exhaust near the steering column I have seen it melt any plastic or rubber components of it and you will loose steering.
Every time I look at the front end of that truck I cannot help but think there was a big mistake in not taking the opportunity to move the front wheels forward by a couple of inches instead of using the original wheel base.
Had he repositioned the wheels forwards the handling would be better and such large intrusion into the firewall wouldn’t have been needed. Many other benefits would also have been available.
You definitely cut those x pipes too much and will be choking the engine. Please redo it using the 4/3 rule in order to get it free-flowing. The actual size of a 2-1-2 merge section to be completely unrestrictive is 1.41x the size, but the 4/3 rule is close enough for most applications, especially if you're using oversized (for the output) dual pipes in the first place. Look up exhaust size calculator and click the one named mk5 cortina estate
The quick calcs that I've remembered is that dual 2.5 is good for 500hp, and if you multiply 2.5 by 1.4 you get 3.5. So go back and remake that X by cutting of 3/4 to 7/8 an inch from each elbow, and you'll be good there. Dual 2.25 goes into single 3.25 (3 is fine) and is good for ~400hp, and dual 3 goes into single 4.25 (4 is fine) and is good for ~740hp. If you can get the odd 2.75, 3.25, and/or 3.75 sizes, then you can use the calculator and mix n match your duals and single section sizes to get roundabouts "perfect" sizing to go with whatever output this thing ends up making.
Also, if you tune on a mustang dyno or hub dyno add 15% for manual RWD drivetrain losses (the HP number times 1.15), but if you tune on a dynojet, treat that as your crank HP number and size the exhaust from there, since dynojet reads high.
