- The Mid-Engine Eclipse has been missing from the channel for almost three months. This video explains where it was and what happened. It's an incredibly sad ending to an amazing vehicle, but thankfully everyone was okay.

That sight is sad indeed when you consider all the work that was put into it. Reminds me when my grandma's car burnt down as a kid when we went blueberry picking, came back to it only to see it on fire. I remember weeks later after that incident we went to see it at the junk yard and it was basically just a burnt shell.

That part got me. I watched every video of that built, we all learned a lot from it. I have so much respect for your attitude towards what happened, and especially towards the driver who caused the accident. I’m sorry for your loss man, atleast you will keep the things you learned from it forever.

Dude you’ve put so much into not only this build but every build, you’ve come so far from the early Fabium days. The fact that both of you walked away unharmed is testament to how well built the car was. You’ve clearly learned from this experience and it will make you a stronger person. Everyone makes mistakes at times, the important thing is to learn from them, which you have. As is British say, chin up old chap, have a cup of tea and crack on!!

Caleb, the mental strength you have to act like this didn't happen and kept producing good content is very respectful. For such a young guy to have this much control and the will to carry on, amazing! That cry you let out at the scene made me emotional too! I'm so glad you didn't get seriously injured. I was in a wreck (also not at fault) 10 years ago, and it happened so fast I couldn't do much. My back, left shoulder and neck still hurts to this day and it will always hurt. Anyways, really glad you are okay above everything else! Go see a doctor even if you feel OK, it will bite you in the butt when you get older.

Never have I cried at an accident video, but when you cried in that video I instantly had tears in my eyes. I'm so sad to see all your hard work go to waste like that. But I'm so glad you're okay man!
Man, hearing you say "my life is over" and cry out in pain really reminded me of back when I crashed my first car. Mind you it didn't end in a fire and the car didn't have this much work put in it (not to mention the whole giveaway thing which surely put you in an even worse mental state) but it still meant a lot to me I had the exact same thoughts. rip eclipse, sad to see such an unique project go. Thank god everyone was safe and sound.
I had the same feelings when one random lady decided the best way to stop on a walkway s in my car. Nobody was hurt, even though I almost hit the guy crossing, and i'm glad for that. But seeing my car ruined made me feel so empty.. I've put so much time and passion in it (it wasn't something special but for me it was) and everything was gone and destroyed in seconds. It's really bad feeling..

Gingium is one of those people you really want to see succeed. Hearing him cry was heartbreaking.
I think you made the absolute best out of a completely dog shit situation. I know the what-ifs are terrifying but it takes an incredible amount of maturity, and responsibility to come away thinking of this as the best outcome considering the danger the vehicle presented to the recipient.
I want to also say, I'm not a huge car person. I watch this channel and subscribe to the patreon because you make entertaining videos and I enjoy watching you pursue your passion. I am happy for the small part that I play in supporting you. Watching you grow and learn is what draws me to this channel. I have learned a lot about cars and developed a respect for the work that goes into them, I can get hype about interesting builds and cool car parts in ways I couldn't before but the reason I watch the channel is because of you. Seeing you put so much dedication into your work and believing in yourself is one of the things that helps me feel inspired to pursue my own passions.
I'm incredibly glad you're okay. It sucks to see the car burn down but dude the true fruit of that build wasn't the physical result. It's the knowledge you'll carry into the next build, and the next one after that.
It's also not dishonest to keep that from us until everything is settled, it just the responsible thing to do for yourself, your family, and any other parties involved so don't sweat that shit at all.

Those little extinguishers are meant for small electrical fires and such. You wouldn’t have been able to do anything against a full fledged fuel fire. Definitely keep the extinguisher more accessible, keep your safety standards up, and don’t mix fuel & batteries.
It was a 10lb extinguisher from the shop, but I still don’t think it would’ve been enough lol. Definitely have a new respect for safety!
@Gingium Even a big one like that probably wouldn't have done much against a fuel tank fire that had already engulfed the front end. It's probably another blessing in disguse that you didn't get it out. If you had tried to fight the fire with an extinguisher, you may have been burned or worse.

Hey Caleb, I have been watching your channel for a long time. I have always been impressed with what you accomplished in your old shop with minimal tools. But in your new shop with some excellent equipment, you managed to turn a front-engined car into a mid-engine, which is amazing to me. My heart breaks for you, to see it all go up in flames is terrible. Although it does seem like the car was cursed. Looking forward to all your next builds on the channel, thank you.

This car was definitely cursed... The number of stuff that gone wrong with it, is insane. In a way, it's better that all of that happen to you and not the winner.

This was far from rushed. It was an ambitious project, no one is denying that. The fact that it was even running and driving at this point is impressive to say the least.
Dont diminish others work when you have nothing to show for yourself
Caleb, I’m very thankful you and your friend we’re able to get out of the car safely with no injuries. My uncle many years back built a car like this one and got into a front end collision and it ruptured the fuel lines. He wasn’t able to get his harness to release and he was trapped inside the burning car for a few minutes before the fire was put out and he could be pulled from the car. He spent several months in a burn unit and can’t work on cars anymore because of his injuries he sustained in the fire. Again, I’m so glad you’re safe.
There are A LOT of things I could say about this situation, but I will not say them. All I will say is that you are ok, nobody got hurt, and everything is still moving along. Stand back up, brush yourself off, and keep on pushing. Don't let what you can't change or control hold you down. Keep your head up and above the clouds.

So glad to hear that you are perfectly okay after the crash. As someone who was recently in a crash i can totally understand how you felt after seeing the car. In the end it did what it was built for, to protect you. You took care of it now it returned the favour Yeah it sucks that it's gone but it's better that it sacrificed itself for your wellbeing. Take care of yourself man and get yourself checked out if you have suffered any injuries from the crash :)
I second this. Back issues come up much later after a crash, but seeing a chiropractor earlier rather than later is definitely a good move. My back was all sorts of tweaked in both of the crashes I was in.

Man... the first video that introduced me to this channel was when you were getting a cheap Macco paint job to your Eclipse. Ever since then I was addicted to your content. High quality video production, lots of entertainment and very detailed builds. I'm so happy that both of you are safe and survived mostly unscathed from that accident. I'm so sorry that this happed after all the effort you've put into that unique build. It really sucks this had to be the fate of the car but every video you've produced making that Eclipse Mid-Engine was thoroughly entertaining to me and hopefully to everyone. I said it before to ya but I will say it again, what matters most is that you guys are okay. At the end of the day it was a car and not a life, its still unfortunate and was one of my favorite builds on the internet but the drift truck will take the crown again.

For once I was truly sad the thumbnail wasn't clickbait. I could feel the emotion in your voice. I can't imagine the pain in that moment. Glad you are alright and happy that things didn't get nasty with the insurance company. I'd suggest in the future to look at something like "collector car" insurance on custom builds. The requirements aren't that bad, and it's all agreed value, so you won't have to worry about an accident putting the Chanel in jeopardy
Honestly, it hurts to watch this video because I watched my first car burn to the ground in front of my eyes. I feel your pain, and all I can say is that you learn from everything that happens in life, good and bad. I know you'll bounce back, don't be hard on yourself, stuff happens and nobody got hurt. I know exactly how you felt. This June I lost my project in a pileup after years of dedication and sleepless nights to get it how I wanted it. I cried a lot seeing it totaled. But I'm thankful for what that whole situation taught me. Keep up the good work!

This is a heart wrenching loss… I can’t imagine seeing the countless man hours and love you poured into this car gone up in smoke. One thing the Eclipse taught me is that you won’t accept defeat which was very inspiring to see, it also was very fitting that the life and “storyline” of this car went the way it did. Heartbreaking. Wow. Glad everyone was ok. I would be hard pressed to say there is another car build I enjoyed more than this one. It was awesome. But I have to agree it sure seemed cursed to fail every step of the way. I sure hope we see another awesome build like this on the channel again though. It was so much fun to watch.
like my dad told me when I got into my first car accident: "you may have crashed and burned, but you could've crashed harder and burned hotter" I think it fits your situation more than it did mine, glad you're ok dude, cars can be replaced but you can't. keep that shiny head safe for us.

Bro dont stress it. If you were some wreckless youtuber it would be a different story. But you are the complete opposite. You have done some amazing builds. Never slacked on anything. Everything top notch no shortcuts. This was a crazy freak accident and eventhough it sucks that it happened. Most importantly you are learning a lesson and nobody was hurt. A heartbreaking video to watch 😢
My built motor turbo NB Miata that I built for 3 years burned to the ground, also fuel related, around the time your Eclipse did. I had a fire extinguisher but it wasn't enough to put out the billowing flames under the hood.
My gf and I got out safely and had to just stand and watch from the side of the interstate until fire department showed up. A total loss. Thankfully insurance was kind to me too and compensated for most of the money I put into it.
Man my car was also cursed for the time I had it, but I don't know how I'll ever replace the smiles per gallon 😔

The Eclipse was the first car of the new Gingium-standard. So much amazing fabrication went into it. It's really cool for Caleb to take so much responsibility for the accident, but I still think he's way safer than most other builders. This was just an absolute worst case scenario. If only the eclipse came with ABS.
ABS wouldn’t really have made a difference. It doesn’t help you stop faster, it just helps you maintain control of the car under braking

Try to contact Elemant fire extinguishers and hook up a sponsorship. I have 2 large sticks for each one of my cars then a extra smaller on in the SHO for other peoples vehicles. Edit: how many youtuber cars have we lost in this last two months. The H collections Senna, DDE 720 and SVJ(fixable), gingium’s eclipse. It’s not ur fault man gingium don’t get so down on ur self please, Yes you did the tank but it wouldn’t of happened if he was actually paying attention.
Some times with a car, the chassis itself is cursed. The fact you went through so many engine combos and nothing but issues. My buddy has an Explorer that's on its 3rd engine in the time he's had it, and he bought it with a swapped engine. So the 800usd POS chassis is on it's 4th (maybe 5th) engine, same trans and still driving legally.
I would just like to point out that this is the EXACT same situation that I had my accident in, luckily I I had to opportunity to try and evade and it didn't result in a worse front end collision, but I rear quarter collision. Car was still totalled, but I was ok.

@@_Gingium_ Nothing positive comes from dwelling on the what-ifs. As much as it sucks, a collision like this is something that will forever change your perspective for the better, and the fact that nobody was hurt is the best possible outcome. It sucks to see such a unique piece of art and engineering be destroyed, but the silver lining is that your future builds will be that much better and safer.
Also, it really says a lot about you and your character that your interaction with the guy in the truck was to check if he was okay and not get angry at him for making the mistake.

- Having such a cool, forward-thinking attitude, despite this being such a huge blow to the heart, having months of your life & earnings taken away from you.

Having been hit in an accident (by a distracted pickup truck driver) I feel your emotions losing something you worked hard to build. But, yes, this was a blessing in disguise.
You took so much time and effort on this car to make it absolutely perfect and it deserved a longer life of ripping, but sheet metal can be replaced people can’t so im glad y’all made it out safe❤️

I can truly tell you how much I understand how much pains your in. Over two years into my 2002 wrx and day before paint a guy ran a stop sign. I locked my wheels up and turned but unfortunately wheels locked it won’t turn. Totaled the front end and lit on fire. Fortunately I was next to some homes and I soaked the engine bay in water.. I’m glad you made it out basically unscathed. Take this as a lesson. Always let the eclipse live in your heart. And keep making videos! Glad everyone is okay !
In the junk yard, yes is very sad.....the hearing of the "emotional breakdown" and the vulnerability from the emotional breakdown is what really hits the heart hard, you put an amazing amount of work into her to see it literally go up in smoke. It hits differently when you see uncontrollable emotions, we've all been there and done that, but I'm glad you guys are ok

Hey Caleb. Been watching your channel for years now. I recently experienced something similar when my boat Wolfden got wrecked against some rocks in a storm and sank after I worked on it for the past 4 months. A friend and I almost died getting banged up against rocks.
The past weeks or so has been really rough sleeping, having traumatic memories of the experience.

That accident was so heartbreaking that I hoped it was all a joke. Hearing you say, "my life is over" and crying hits so fucking hard. I hope you and Bradley are doing alright even though nobody got hurt fortunately.
Dude I've been following for years, since the St Charles days (i even remember the earlier focus videos lol), and I've been a Patron for quite a while. Your mindset on this whole fucking car has been amazing; from the many failed engines and general headaches it caused, to it ending how it did. I know those feelings all too well, with cars that I barely put any work into in comparison. I know how bad that hurt to watch my shit get hauled away totalled, so I can only imagine how hard it hit you with everything that went into it. I'm so glad you're okay though, and given the fact that it was a ruptured fuel tank, it could have been SO much worse.
Thank you for making this video, it's pretty easy to see it was hard to make, but i appreciate the transparency, a lot of guys would just cover something like this up. But man I hope this doesn't discourage you from making more extreme projects like it, but please just be careful man. I'm sure i speak for a lot of us on here, we're here for your style and the content you make, nobody wants to see you get hurt or worse in the process though. Keep your head up, and if you need anything you've still got at least a few Illinois homies rooting for you 🤘
So glad you and Kurt are unscathed. There are so many bold, and epic vehicles in your future. You built something worthwhile, we watched you trudge, not just on this project which was a really happy project, but through your shop-less winter when glee was thin. Then you got the new shop, everything changed and your first move was to build something really ambitious. Now the drift truck is o the lift, and we're going to enjoy seeing that take shape.
So sorry to hear about this Caleb, been watching the whole way and seeing the build end like this really sucks, can't imagine how it has impacted you mentally and emotionally even now at the 3 month mark. As someone who has been in a bad car wreck as well, I understand the pain of losing a prized possession but also the sudden appreciation of life. As I'm sure you've come to realize, the what-ifs don't matter at this point. What really matters is that you walked away from the accident and can carry on with your life and continue to do the things you love to do. It's a learning experience. hearing all this makes me sick to my stomach. not because it was a giveaway car, but because you put all your heart and soul into this build, and not only you, but we as fans feel cheated to have something just taken away from us in such a violent way, just isnt fair. no one cares, or should care, about the giveaway aspect, we're proud that you made the build happen, and thankful to still have you here on this earth. shit happens, now its time to do it all over again, but cooler.

F*ck man, 2022 has been a shitshow from start to finish. I’m so glad to hear that it wasn’t more serious and that y’all could pull yourselves out of the car. I know i’ve been fairly vocal about not being the wildest on the eclipse, but watching this i’m in just in shock. This was by far one of the most ambitious projects on youtube, and through some trial and error it was actually executed really damn well. that’s more than most of the guys on here can say. you learn and grow at such a wild rate, i genuinely can’t wait to see you take what you learned and put that into the drift truck. Damn that really sucks. Was wondering what happened to the car. I would be heartbroken knowing how much money and time you spent on this car. At least you are alive and can continue to make videos and bring us more cool content.
