Bruce I would like to make a suggestion. Until you get a proper motor test stand you could build one with an old frame. That way you can have a test station so you can run the motor through its paces. I'm just thinking about safety for everyone 😊

Think he said one in the plans. I've purchased several junkyard engines no matter how big not one had a test stand. 90 day warranty from date of purchase. Don't include labor. I ran a tire auto truck repair towing business. I had an employee smart kid from San Salvador. He'd start a diesel engines on the shop floor. Prop it up with wooden 6x6 8x8 4x4s they didn't jump around. That kid didn't have any education at all !nothing! and the things he could do. spoke 2 languages could write an email a letter self taught. He said hardest thing he did was crossing Mexico deported 2 times. 3rd time he made across paid off some Mexican police. Said crossing United States boarder was easy. I told him I couldn't blame him for coming here our country ain't watching so why not cross i would. Some Mexicans around Charlotte NC where he ended up were working him but screwing him over working for nothing. A kid I know in Charlotte called me about this kid and said he repaired a forklift with few tools no body could get running. I drove to Charlotte we talked he came home with me i had a little cabin for him to live he loved the hardwood floors said he lived in houses with dirt floor. He said this is a dream home running water, heat, AC that he now owns with 5 acres. I know I ramble but thought some of you would like his story.

@@user-bu8bc6kg4f I definitely agree... I drove heavy haul and pulled wrenches myself and I was always worried about a salvage engine but luckily everyone I used I could run and test before I installed.

@@user-mc9tu1uo8iwe worked on semi trucks to Kia's, kept our towing equipment ready to roll. The kid saved us hrs and $$$ testing a Detroit said to run great. We were gonna drop it in a small 20 ton we used a lot. not too big not too small. He started it on floor dead cylinder we just traded it for another they had. Kid tested it. Dropped that sucker in was running 5 yIs later when I sold everything in 2019 ..35 years id had enough most employees were there as long or longer than i worked for my grandfather. That kid is 45 now working out of his garage on his time. Call for appointment, even he started to hate people😂 he does everything for me and family tires, oil, I don't work on anything.

I buy wrecked semis for my junkyard, have had some that turned over... zero engine issues so far. I'm no rocket scientist but if the manufacturers haven't set the trucks up to auto turn off when literally on their side or flipped over... then wtf world are we living in lmfao

@@neverstoppulling5169 It makes sense for some things to not have auto shutoff for rollovers but anything that's intended to spend most of it's life on paved roads should have that. It also depends on the oiling system, some dry sumps could probably run fine almost completely upside down, the old Tatra oil cooled engines would do that day and night no problem but those are super short wheelbase permanent 8x8's that you can unflip by putting them in reverse and steering to the side you're laying on lol.

Broken transmissions still have value and you have 2 choices in how to deal with them. Your first choice is find a transmission rebuilder specalizing in heavy duty transmissions and make a deal to sell them all the damaged cores. The second choice is to find a transmission rebuilder to go through and recase the transmission and you can sell it as a reman transmission. Selling broken cores to a rebuider would probably be the best choice.

We do the same but we use medium sized jack stands to sit the engine on to run them. Be careful on a rolled over truck because when a driver flips the truck the last thing they do is cut the truck off. When they run on the side the mains bearings ain’t getting oil. You can tell through jpro if it’s been ran with low oil pressure that second engine sounds like it’s about to spin a bearing she’s definitely on the tight side I’d pull the pan before you do more damage
