The enthusiasm of youth mixed with the precision of highly trained and musically gifted talent gives this group the ability to energize and uplift any event. Whether wearing retro 50’s western, Celtic cowboy, or contemporary outfits, the Calgary Fiddlers add a uniquely “Calgary” charm.
We provide a variety of different performance formats. Whether it be a gauntlet style greeting for your guests, a pied piper grand entrance, or a full concert-style show, these fiddlers will add pizzazz at your next fundraiser, conference/convention, corporate event, house party, wedding, school workshop or non-profit celebration. We are for hire!
The Calgary Fiddlers are a musically gifted group of young people who love to perform and who appeal to audiences of all ages around the world. This exciting ensemble bursts on to stage to deliver high energy performances of a wide range of music from traditional folk fiddling to country, bluegrass, Celtic and even big band. Each fiddler has a rigorous training schedule that includes private and group coaching sessions on a weekly basis, in addition to performing at over 100 functions in and around the Calgary area each year, and touring internationally. Performances can be from 15 minutes to multiple 30 minute sets in length
Each year, Calgary Fiddlers group is comprised of 15-18 ambitious teen musicians who passionately rehearse and perform fiddle music throughout the Calgary region, around Alberta, nationally and internationally. These teen sensations perform at over 100 events each year, all while attending school full-time.
    Calgary Fiddler Auditions
Auditions for the Calgary Fiddlers program takes place in June each year, and is intended for ambitious and talented violinists aged 12 to 18 who play the violin at a grade 7 level and beyond.
The Calgary Fiddlers Association emerged from the classical violin program at Mount Royal Conservatory of Music in 1981. At that time, Dr. Norman Burgess was the Director of the Conservatory and his passion for innovation, creativity and excellence led him to create the Calgary Fiddlers program for young classically trained musicians. He loved classical violin and he LOVED to fiddle (his two worlds collided to create something VERY special). After 36 years, his legacy continues!
Our history is important and everyone who has been involved, be it student or teacher, has played an integral part in making the Calgary Fiddlers Association North America's largest and most successful fiddle education and performance program, to date!
