So glad i found your channel man! Only watched DyLighted Videos so far and its fun, but your vibes are just way more about just having a good time and its a lot better for my mental health :D Good job
29:48 Dandy is literally 1-2 cards short of winning the whole game 1 turn later and complains about being robbed. Its like hes table talking the viewers which doesnt vibe with me
We clearly have a disagreement on the board evaluation. I mentioned to blue that I have all knights and even if I take road, I go to 8 roads and red can take it back with the connect. We were putting black on 3/4 VPs, which is 8/9 points for potentially settle to win with 6 cards in hand. Luckily, I did pull the mono at the end which gave me a 20 card turn to win the game. Otherwise, the mono in anyone else’s hand is GG.
Answer like everything in life is “It Depends”. There are some interesting coastal plays where you play 8 10 to complete your first pick. usually this tends to be more a dev card setup. I am actually a massive fan of playing around the desert for road as there is usually a lot of untapped production that rarely gets blocked. I do think road network/proximity of settlements is a consideration to setting up an ideal road game, but not a must have.
@DandyDrew would love to hear your thoughts on the relative value of each ports (obviously its specific to the specific pip distribution) but for instance ore port seems to be lower valued than say sheep port, or wood over brick on the basis of 3 hexes vs 4. Do you value some ports higher or lower inherently regardless of the specific random resource distribution of a given map?
Wood, brick, sheep, ore, wheat in that order usually for 2:1 ports. The OWS meta is usually the best strat ( obvs if there’s 3 OWS players, the road player has a higher chance of winning) so after initially using wood/brick to build 1-2 initial settles, they can be ported for dev materials/cities. Wheat is used in everything except roads so unless it’s a super high prod wheat board you never want to be porting it. Same with Ore, used for cities & devs. Wood & brick lose their value usually at around the 4-6 point mark so having a dedicated 2:1 port allows for cities/devs is ideal. As a Road player you’ll need 2 cities & 6 settles or 5 + a vp. So once you’ve hit the max of 5 settles, you’ll need to be porting wood/brick for ore for cities & devs to try get the VP. (Ideally want a city before you max on settles) As an OWS player, you can use the wood/brick to cover for any resources that get blocked or that you’re lacking. 2:1 wood for ore if your ore is blocked or if you completely lack ore. Playing a sort of wheat/sheep/wood 2:1 hyrbid OWS. Obviously all of that depends on the pip distribution, using the board in this video I’d say it would be sheep, wood, brick, ore/wheat. Pip distribution can be a little misleading. I see people say doubling up on the 3 wheat gives you 4 pips which = 5 wheat. But it doesn’t. The likelihood of rolling a 3 remains the same, you’d just get 2 instead of 1. Blacks wheat port in this game was fairly successful. He had 9 pips of wheat which equates to 4.5 pips of whatever material he wants and as it’s over 3 hexes makes it harder to block. Dark Blue with his Ore port had 8 pips = 4 pips of whatever he wanted but is easily blockable. 3v4 hexes of a material on the board isn’t important. It’s more dependent on what you produce. Having a settle on the 6 + 8 wood is better for 2:1 wood port than being doubled up on the 6 or 8 as it becomes harder to block. So overall it is largely dependent on the board as to which 2:1 is better but by and large wood/brick are the better as they lose value as the game goes on. Once you hit the max 5 settles, they’re useless until you get a city. Can trade them to an OWS player but that’s dangerous so ideally porting them yourself makes better sense.
I’m back and requesting you have one screw around day with 1v1 games. Maybe just have fun the whole time, but talk about how different strategy is and your thoughts on it
ב"ה Personally I would have built two cities with the winning hand of the sheep mono, just for style since I have no ore. Obviously it doesn't matter at all since you end up at 10 points either way.
Howdy Dave. I do my best to share wins and losses in a balanced manner. At the end of the day, it’s about bringing content that provides education and entertainment - Win or loss is usually secondary.
Spoiler Shield!!!
It takes a real confident settler player to put 2 settlements on the desert…

At the end you can literally win any way you want lol. Road Road, Settle, City, double city, or take road.
Sheep mono at the end is crazy you could get +2 points in four different ways
How you gonna blame blue for you moving the knight on your own accord for your own benefit lol

Great stuff. I’m a new sub - looking forward to a long viewing experience!
I would’ve built 2 cities in the last roll of road wasn’t possible. Nice game!
Greetings from Finland Dandy. Appreciate the content
"We got a BUNCH of people from Ohio... am I getting robbed again?" xD
when you go with road strategy. do you prefer to be on the coast or have a settle in the center,so you could conect more easy?

This was an edit since the last one was over-done. It was a good game and wanted an edited version for the channel. A lot of people didn’t see it!
@@dandydrew perfect! Thanks dandy! Just checking in! Keep it up!
I thought this looked familiar !!

Bring a 1v1 to the channel? I've never saw a 1v1 game
Wouldn't the 8 10 and point right at the start be better?
Good ol' farmer drew winning with sheep
That little bit of Diary of Jane in there
Nice catch
